Quiet Man Cometh 07-17-2011 09:55 PM

Yeah, that. Though I do feel bad for looking it up when I do. I make up for it my making my character walk the whole way to get where ever it is that I want to do, even if it's all the way across the map. Although, I may cheat a little if it's near to a city that I've already been to. It's more fun just to stumble upon stuff in my opinion.

Suzerain of Sheol 07-17-2011 10:02 PM

Well, you haven't been spoiled by fast travel, have you? It's... really difficult not to save time that way. Unless I'm RPing.

Quiet Man Cometh 07-17-2011 10:05 PM

I like tromping around in the wilderness to see what I can find. I fast travel when I know where I'm going, and it does get tempting the odd time to teleport to fancy areas with the mod I have, but I stick to the "must get there on my own befor teleport" rule. This doesn't mean I can't use stilt striders or mage's guildes or what not. But I avoid even those sometimes if I've cheated and looked the location of something up. ;)

Ladyduet 07-17-2011 11:30 PM

heh, the only 'cheat' i use on there is the replication cheat after updates. Although, the funnest time I had with that one was when I convinced my girlfriend to do mass replication on all her flawless gems all over the floor of her 'rose something' manor in skingrad.

Quiet Man Cometh 07-18-2011 12:30 AM

Eeeee! Literal has a trailer for Skyrim! I love this guy! :D.

I have others for Assassin's Creed and Zelda posted in the Ubisoft games and Ideal RPG thread, respectively.

Ladyduet 07-18-2011 02:00 AM

cool! thanks for posting that link!

AcidDrop 07-21-2011 05:41 PM

i'm so excited to own this game.. i'll be pre-ordering my copy next week :D

Tarrek 07-24-2011 05:56 PM

Pre-ordered and paid off. :)

Quiet Man Cometh 07-25-2011 03:47 AM

I suppose I could consider actually pre-ordering. Something tells that I won't actually bother. Maybe I ought to hint at a few relatives that it would make a nice Christmas gift. If they aren't readily available then, there's always my birthday. :)

Suzerain of Sheol 07-25-2011 09:32 AM

I'm starting to think I won't be getting it on release date, either. Not sure I really have the money to spend, though if I ever going on selling my old stuff on eBay, probably.

Quiet Man Cometh 08-04-2011 11:54 PM

Anyone know if the system requirements for Skyrim have been released yet? Apparently Morrowind had something peculiar about it that had it take up obscene amounts of memory or something when running. Wondering how difficult Skyrim might be.

TurtleSensei 09-26-2011 06:53 PM

My fiance and I are geeking out about this! I played Morrowind (bought it randomly and loved it) then my brother let us borrow his XBox 360 and gave us Oblivion to play, we loved it so much we went out and bought an XBox 360 the next month and bought Oblivion as out first game! We've pre-ordered Skyrim and can't wait! It's going to be so EPIC! I read recently that the Dark BrotherHood is back! That was by far our FAVORITE Quest line!:D

SKYRIM! SKYRIM! SKYRIM!
-chants-

I'm SO excited for this game! I adore Oblivion, and I'm dying for November to roll around. It's probably going to be the only game in existence that I've planned on buying at full-price when it comes out.

I could spam about how excited I am, but I think I'll leave it for later.. >w>;;

Illusion 10-26-2011 03:48 PM

I just bought Oblivion Collectors Addition just so I can geek out up until the release...
Seriously..
WHY ARE ALL THESE AMAZING GAMES COMING OUT NOW?????
Zelda Skyward Sword
Skyrim
Ratchet and clank all 4 one
AND MUCH MORE!! DX *Needs money*

Suzerain of Sheol 10-26-2011 03:49 PM

I've been forcing myself to not play Oblivion for... oh, a good 6 months now, just so I have no chance of getting bored once I get my hands on Skyrim. I can't believe it's only a few more weeks away. I can hardly wait.

Illusion 10-26-2011 03:52 PM

xD
I'm always a thief, so I started a new character a few days ago as a thief and my goal is to rob every bank I can in the game before skyrim comes out.

Taiki 10-26-2011 03:54 PM

I sadly cannot afford to buy Skyrim when it comes out. ;o; My brother is getting the super special addition that comes with the dragon statue and book. I'll have to yoink his game when he is at work or something.

Suzerain of Sheol 10-26-2011 04:01 PM

I just wish I had a computer that could run it. The game must be so much better with mods. My laptop might be able to handle it, but I have a feeling it might explode after a while. :p

Illusion 10-26-2011 04:11 PM

Pfft. Mods are fun, but I prefer playing the way the game intended.
On the other hand it will make running across the vast fields so much quicker! dX

Renzek 10-27-2011 01:12 PM

Ok be honest, who else goes straight to the guard watch and just starts a bloody masacre once you finish the main questline?

Suzerain of Sheol 10-27-2011 04:22 PM

In the... snow town, forget the name, I have a house whose front lawn is littered with the gear of about 100 guardsman, and yet, for some reason, their brothers never take the hint that it is a BAD IDEA to mess with me. Must be the outrageous bounty on my head. :p

Illusion 10-28-2011 03:39 PM

xDDDDD

My Thief I've been working on can't seem to get a break from the guards, I get pursued way to much.. I guess that's what happens when your a thief.

Suzerain of Sheol 10-28-2011 04:11 PM

You must not be a very good thief, then. :p

I was kind of disappointed with the thieving aspects of Oblivion. There was nothing really valuable to steal, thanks to the shopkeeper having virtual inventories unlike Morrowind where their stuff was lying around the shop. The game's level scaling didn't help, either.

Illusion 10-28-2011 04:28 PM

Well I just made this girl... xD
I'm better when I actually have decent armor. My main thief is amazing, but that's only because I made him go through most of the main quest until I stopped to work on his thieving skills. Which turned out fabulously, because I don't run across the fields I forced him to sneak all the way. No horse, nothing! And yet I was stupid wonder why he has gained over 800 hours of gameplay yesterday...

Illusion 11-01-2011 04:19 PM

Dang it.. I forgot I had the vampire decease, and just gave my thief vampirism.. I guess vampirism is good for a thief, but when you are a high elf and is weak to fire as it is.. Just.. Yeah.. x.x..

Obbiesan 11-02-2011 03:03 PM

Im so hoping i can afford skyrim along with Ultimate Marvel 3 >w<

Suzerain of Sheol 11-02-2011 03:14 PM

Has anyone checked out the videos of leaked gameplay that are showing up online? Apparently there's version out there for modded 360s, but I refuse to read or watch any of the info that's come out. I want to experience the game firsthand.

Obbiesan 11-02-2011 03:17 PM

i have not cause i feel the same way i want to experience it like i did oblivion with no ideal what i was doing lol

Suzerain of Sheol 11-07-2011 11:35 PM

People already have this game. >_>

I am jealous. >_<

Even though I have a research paper due on Friday. :p

Serra Britt 11-07-2011 11:40 PM

Yea, you need to not distract yourself!

My roommates dragged me to a game store today and I saw SO MANY games I wanted myself. But one of them is getting Skyrim anyways so I'll get to watch it.

Wedding Peach 11-10-2011 12:40 AM

Hopefully there will be no problems with the PlayStation 3 version; if I ever become a serious gamer again, I might get it.

I haven't checked into it for a month or two, so if anyone has heard anything about it recently, feel free to share. I believe I read they were adding a talent system similar to Fallout 3, which should be interesting, though I'm not sure I prefer it over the improve-with-use system they had.

One thing about these games that I think needs improvement is the main quest line. I've literally never bothered with them; as soon as I get past the tutorial, I'm gone, off to explore Tamriel, without a care in the world for whatever I'm "supposed" to be doing. I don't want them to restrict free-roaming or anything, I just want the main quest to be more engaging and rewarding than it has been in the past.

Also, did I hear dual-wielding was in, or was that just a rumor? And dragons, too?

Oh, and any word on how level-scaling will work? I'm hoping they do some sort of mix of Morrowind and Oblivion, ideally without the shortcomings of either system.

This post is unbelievably old but I feel compelled to answer your questions.

YES you can dual wield.
YES there are dragons.

Did you know?
  • You can get married.
  • You can dual wield spells.
  • You can "hold" your spells to continuously cast them.
  • You can add "talents" or "skills" based on your star sign (I think you can fill up multiple signs but I don't know for sure)

Suzerain of Sheol 11-10-2011 10:05 AM

*ahem* Yes, i know all that. I check the boards at GameFAQs like every hour. :p

Only one more day left!

Suzerain of Sheol 11-10-2011 12:43 PM

Also, the PS3 version actually looks much better than the 360 version, as seen here. Apparently, also, the 360 version has an issue with textures loading too slowly when it's installed.

Well, that is good to know that they are doing a good job on the PlayStation 3 version; but I figure people will still consider the Xbox 360 version better, no matter what. But I feel bad for the Xbox 360 version having its problems.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-10-2011 01:33 PM

It's weird that the problems would be on the 360 since it was designed for that console. But, I'm glad I found out before release day, since I was considering getting it for the Xbox, since everyone was saying the PS3 version was worse. But, I like the PS3 controller better, so my mind's made up now.

Ishu 11-10-2011 01:53 PM

I always prefer the xbox360. However, if the new xbox is backwards compatible (why wouldn't it be?) Then the xbox version will, in the end, be better. ^^

Suzerain of Sheol 11-10-2011 02:21 PM

Technically speaking, the PC version is far and away the best, but having a PC that can run it to its full potential costs way more than either console.

Ishu 11-10-2011 02:31 PM

This is very true. I almost ordered the PC version during my preordering process and quickly changed my mind. My computer probably wouldn't be able to run it and I would miss out on achievements. :C

Yeah, that is one of the reasons I did not want the PC version if I chose to get the game. I prefer to buy the game and play it, instead of having a hard time figuring out how to install a graphic card and keeping up with the system requirements.
