[Official Avatar Contest] Blackjack!

Hey, Trisphites!

I'm working on a new set of minigames for the site, and I'm starting with one that's sure to interest people who are questing for more aurum: blackjack!

But I don't want to just go rip some existing card art from somewhere. I want to give this a unique Trisphee look. I'll be making the card back and the number cards myself, but for the face cards I want to use avatar art. And what better way to get fantastic avatar art than to tap some of the best avatar designers the world has to offer?

In other words... Avatar cosplay contest!

I'm looking for thirteen avatars:
* Jack of Spades
* Queen of Spades
* King of Spades
* Jack of Hearts
* Queen of Hearts
* King of Hearts
* Jack of Clubs
* Queen of Clubs
* King of Clubs
* Jack of Diamonds
* Queen of Diamonds
* King of Diamonds
* Joker

I say that this is a cosplay contest in specific because I want to try to preserve the general ideas from the traditional card designs (see below) so that the results look like a reinterpretation of playing cards. Also, I intend to crop the submissions and rotate them to make the reversible design, so don't worry about the legs. I'll adjust weapons and such as necessary to put them in the right parts of the frame. (Or if you want to do this yourself, more power to you!)

The joker is completely freeform. It'll be a full-body avatar (though cropped down and scaled in order to fit on the card) so just use your creativity to show us what you think a Trisphee jester should look like!

You don't have to make all thirteen cards to make a submission -- if you have an idea for just one of them, go ahead and send it in!

BONUS: If someone wants to get fancy and design the ace of spades as well, I won't say no.

Here's my submission for the Joker, with background (for the contest), without background (in case you can't use it for your cards with one):

We don't have a dream avi creator yet.

Unfortunate, that.

It's been the official stance since the beginning that we're not going to offer one first-party. (We've been OK with anyone else making one off-site if they wanted to, as long as they don't break the rules in doing so.) That said, we have some ideas in the works that will give some of the benefits of a dream avatar editor without opening up the problems that we're worried about.

Step one, of course, is a past item viewer.

Ooooh, that sounds promising. But what kind of problems are you worried about? Code-stealing...?
