Kiwii Has Arrived!

Well, I suppose I should stop exploring the site to actually make my first post here. c:

So... Hello! Feel free to call me whatever you like, as long as I can tell you're talking to me. :] A few things about me... Well, I don't use "text talk" unless I'm sending a text and the full message doesn't fit. The exception to this are, of course "lol," "omg," etc., and smiley faces.

I'm a hobby artist who is about to take the plunge into her up-and-coming web-comic, as well as industrial design school - more specifically, transportation/car design. ;D I can speak a bit of Spanish, German, Italian, and Russian, in order from the first learned to most recent. There's a couple of Jamaican words that I know, but nowhere near enough to be able to say that I know enough to hold a conversation. Sadly, none of these have been taught to me in a class, so this fall I'll be taking a language course, preferably one that I don't know yet. I just love languages that much. <3

Okay, enough rambling. I'll just stop talking here and once again say, "Hello!" :}

Arikana 02-10-2013 12:55 AM

Hello, hola, guten tag, *skips Italian*, privet! :) Welcome to Tris!
I hope you enjoy yourself here and stay with us for a long while to come.

If you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to ask us. We're a friendly bunch and don't bite! :)

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 01:07 AM

Haha; thank you! Everything looks very interesting so far, so maybe I'll get hooked~ ;]

And, I'll keep that in mind! Again, thank you. c:

IronMaiden 02-10-2013 01:19 AM

Hello and welcome~

I hope you come and chat with us and have fun here as well.

Sorry, I'm a bit new.

Arikana 02-10-2013 01:24 AM

You're welcome! :)

So you're a language fanatic, too, eh? :P

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 01:28 AM

Yep. In my mind, there is no such thing as an "ugly" language. :3

Espy 02-10-2013 01:32 AM

Hey, welcome to Tris.

Ari's probably got most of your questions, and that's fine too -- I'm rapidly alternating between deep anxiety and profound elation, and my tongue tends to get away from me when that happens.

Oh! So sorry; I didn't see your post. x:
I hope I'll be sticking around and do just that. ^^

Espy,
Thank you! :]
And may I ask what is causing such... "mood swings?"

Espy 02-10-2013 01:42 AM

I'm not sure you'd want to hear a tale of college life fraught with "wanting to try too many things and throwing grades out the windows", "not making the best of decisions", and "emotional turmoil".

Nice. And I so agree with you. Languages are such wonderful things, I personally wish to learn as many as I can. <3

Currently I know English (obviously :P), semi-fluent Cantonese, a decent amount of French, some Spanish, a little Mandarin, some American Sign Language, a small dabbling in Russian, and some Japanese. Those were not listed in order of when I learned them as I don't remember which I learned first. >_> I just listed them off the top of my head. :P

Espy 02-10-2013 01:50 AM

Ooh. Languages. I'm fluent in English (...of course), conversant in Mandarin, can understand but not speak a bit of daily Taiwanese, semi-fluent in Spanish, and want to learn German, Russian, Italian, and Irish.

That's okay, you've replied now. ^.^

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 02:29 AM

Espy,
Ah, college life; the world I'll be entering in the fall...
I'm not sure I'd be of any help academics-wise, but if you ever need anyone to vent to, feel free to drop me a message. <3

Arikana (and Espy, haha),
Same here. I haven't had the opportunity to learn any Asian or Latin languages (other than Spanish and Italian, of course), but it would definitely be something I would try to do when I had to time. Oh, and African dialects. -v-

I'm pretty sure my typing is becoming difficult to read, so I might head off to bed soon, seeing as it's almost 2:00am here. Haha

Espy 02-10-2013 02:36 AM

Huh. You're younger than me? That's an interesting thought. Yeah, it's 1:35 here, and I need to break my habit of sleeping at 4.

HABIT 02-10-2013 04:03 AM

Hello and welcome.

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 11:43 AM

Espy,
It would seem so.

I usually go to bed at around 11pm, but several things had my attention. Haha

Massy Deacon,
Hello, and thank you.

Lauv Keiko 02-10-2013 12:07 PM

lol, what a cute name <3
welcome to trisphee, kiwii. Hope you enjoy your stay~

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 12:21 PM

Lol, thank you. xD

So far everything looks awesome, so I just might stick around. <3

Lauv Keiko 02-10-2013 01:23 PM

glad to know that you like it here~

Espy 02-10-2013 01:48 PM

College isn't as scary as I sometimes describe it to be. I'm just not the best student.

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 07:19 PM

Lauv Keiko,
^^ A few things are a bit intimidating, but otherwise it's been an interesting experience so far. xD

Espy,
It's fine. I haven't got the best grades even in high school, so it's a dreadful thought for me anyways. Haha

Espy 02-10-2013 07:24 PM

I didn't, either.

(You're welcome for the Aurum.)

They're fun to learn, so you definitely should try your hand at them. :) If you need help, I could try to help. o3o There's also a self-study Japanese hangout thread in the club house forum, in case you're interested. :)

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 08:22 PM

Espy,
Oh! I could've sword I mentioned something about that! Now I feel like such an ass... Thank you very, very much for the Aurum. ;v;

Arikana,
Oh really? I'll have to check it out, then! C:
Haha, thank you for the offer. I might take you up on it one day. xD
But for now, my schedule is far to hectic for me to attempt learning another language, what with school stuff and finding financial aid and such. xAx

Arikana 02-10-2013 11:11 PM

You should. It's a great place to converse with others self-studying Japanese as well as to gain some tips and insight on picking up the language faster. :3
Yeah, I know the feeling. @_@ What program major and/or minor are you going to be studying this September? :o

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 11:35 PM

I'm going to be a Transportation Design major with [probably] a minor in education. Having a love for languages helps because it's very highly likely that I'll have lived in several countries before I retire from my career. You know, working for BMW, Toyota, or something. =3=

HABIT 02-10-2013 11:38 PM

How are you enjoying things?

kiwii.bomber 02-10-2013 11:46 PM

Everything's great so far! <3 C:

That sounds like fun. :) What school are you planning on going to for your program?

HABIT 02-11-2013 01:05 AM

Good, I'm glad you're enjoying things.

Twigg 02-11-2013 01:09 AM

Yay! Another new member. <3 There have been a lot recently.

Anyway, I'm Twigg! c:
I'd love to see some of your art! <3 I make arty things myself.
And as everyone else said, if you ever have any questions (or just wanna talk) you can always feel free to drop me a line. I don't bite!
(at least, not very hard. :P )

Have you found anything in the shops that catch your eye yet? <3
I know when I first joined, the avatars and items are what kept me coming back.

Also make sure to check out the Crane game! It's a great way to nab items. :3

Haha, no big deal. I was actually afraid you'd mentioned it and that I hadn't replied to that.

kiwii.bomber 02-11-2013 01:53 AM

Arikana,
Well, I have originally wanted to go to the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, but $220k for four years worth of college is a lot of debt... So now I'm heading to Academy of Art University in San Francisco, which is pretty much the same education, but less than half the price per year. c:

Twigg,
Hello, and thank you! :]
I'll try to put up some art here tomorrow; my dA [kiwii-bomber] is still really sparse, but it has a few older things.

Oh yes, I have definitely found a few things in the shops that have piqued my interest. <3 There are so many possibilities to make great avatars! *o*
Hehe, I've already discovered it~ It's kind of fun, actually. :3

Espy,
Now I don't feel so bad. Haha
But still, thank you. <3

Espy 02-11-2013 01:59 AM

Huh. Kiwii, where're you from? I'm from the Sunnyvale area.

kiwii.bomber 02-11-2013 02:06 AM

I'm actually not from CA at all. I'm all the way in WV. It's probably a bad decision to go across-country for college, but it's the best option for the best price that I could find.
It was either AAU or the University of Cincinnati, and I hate Ohio with a burning passion. ._.

Xyphlan 02-11-2013 06:07 PM

I apologize for my tardiness in greeting you. The past few days have found me playing Fire Emblem fervently, which precluded me from welcoming newcomers. I am a fellow newcomer, so my welcome is rather superfluous, but I offer it all the same. If nothing else, I make a small profit from doing it. But it might be best to not imply that to be my intention while the mods are awake.

kiwii.bomber 02-12-2013 08:46 PM

That's quite all right. Thank you for the welcome all the same. <3

Mal Kapwn 02-16-2013 02:48 PM

Welcome to Tris, kiwii! I love your avi already. I lived in WV for a while, that's a pretty place to be, imo.
