Say What? Crysandrea closed!
So my friend informed me to check Crysandrea today.
Turns out the site is closing and being revamped. In about three months they are going to launch an entirely new site. This means all user names, accounts items, treads etc are being swiped clean as if they don't exist. Lets discuss this. I am curious to know what other people think. |
well you already know what i think XD and saw the letter too
|
Honestly I am not sure I will stick around for the new one. Not if its going to be another blow like Mana.
|
OMG! Poor thing. I kinda left a long time ago but it still was one of my favorite site a while back. I'm glad that I made the right decision to leave Crysandrea and stick with Trisphee! I knew this site going to last a very long time.
|
Ughhh and I donated real money to the site too...
well, I honestly don't know what to think just yet but I will say at least it's not like Terrasus XD; I'd rather be compensated at least in site currency when a new site opens up than lose what I paid altogether and suddenly and horrifically lmao But still I don't know what I think...better read up on it some more, check more staff posts... |
xD as far as I know in the last couple of days only one staffer has been posting that wasn't a mod. For feb they lost their pixelist and a coder and could not get feb donation items out and then when they finally did, they pulled this.
Reading through the announcement forum it doesnt sound pretty good from those that know the person in charge. What I would like to know is what happens to all the donations? And will the new site be worth it? |
I think I gave up on Crys a long time ago. I'm just waiting on Syndrone. And hopefully that won't flop like Terra.
|
I'm coming from there, but I hope that maybe things will turn out for the best. :c
And what's Syndrone? I know Terra (considered joining), but never heard of that. |

I don't know how ok I'd be with that - I only got 13k on there now but if I was someone who'd worked my ass off for tons of currency and I learn in 3 months not only will I not have any of my items, I'll be starting off with zero too--? Ennnghhhhh yeahhhhh... -cough- The guy who took over after the last admin left seemed really promising too, like he was gonna get shit done. But I don't know who he is, maybe he's got a history ~ *shrugs* They really should figure out a way to get records of what everyone's got and recompensate them at least currency and donation currency at the very least. I wouldn't restart a site without doing that, no way. bagelbites - Syndrome is a new avatar site that's being started with -- I wanna say the least artist and other staff of Terra? I'm pretty sure it's the lead artist from there. |
Ummmmm, Wow... first Royal Creed and now Crys.... the economy is effecting our online lives now.

Though if you think about it sometimes when the site changes hands it is worse to do it, because the new owner isn't getting that money. Hypothetical Situation Here So in a business way I can see why the new owner is completely wiping the site and starting fresh, but I understand that to older users this is going to suck, everyone is going to start fresh again with nothing but starter packs, and all of the work you have done is gone. No doubt that they will lose people over this but the site interface my end up changing in critical ways... I actually may end up joining the site after the revamp.. |
Well, I'm from Crysandrea and while I am sad about what's happening, I can also understand why it's come to this point. The site doesn't have a lot of staff and there are quite a few glitches. From what I understood people who donated will be refunded in the cash currency of the site but, that's about it.
I'm rather annoyed that the inventories will be cleared as well as the fact that everyone will have to re-register if they're old users, at the same time I really hope that Crysandrea v3 will be better then the current Crysandrea, at least they're keeping the avatars and (hopefully) most of the commons. I only stay on avatar sites if I like the avatars and the items so them keeping the pixel art how it is right now is a relief for me. On another note I pretty much re-found this site because someone posted about it in the thread with the announcement. I decided to sign in only to discover I already had an account here (talk about forgetful), so, I guess you could say that I'm migrating over here from Crys >.>. |
after reading more about it, it sounds like the site was just hemorrhaging money...well I do wish it all the luck in an excellent restart and that it doesn't lose all of it's customer base for sure. at least it's a restart and not a closing entirely
Areishia - Oh well welcome to Trisphee lol! Hope it helps fill the Crys shaped hole *chuckles* |

Untill now I quite like some of Tris's features, specifically there being in-game currency DIs as well as the tokens and the token shop :3. So I hope I'll be able to stay active here, more or less :3. |
The achievement tokens are fun to earn cos there's tons of ways to earn them and sometimes it's a surprise too so you get an achievement pop up and you're like O3o how'd that happen!
There's some good places to post, tons of hangouts, the Cat Paws charity is always hopping...if you RP at all there are aaaalways ppl looking for RP partners. I think I like our layering system the best, you can do so much with it And now I must away for sleep |
@Tiva: I didn't know Royal creed closed or for that matter terrasaurus. I thought that one was fairly new. And I am sure that Tris can come up with a back up plan before it gets to drastic if thats the case.
@Rem: I think that is why he closed down manahaven, though I am not sure what he plans on doing with it. He had a pretty good battle system going but apparently the cost were too much. |

Thank you for the advise regarding good places to post. I've never RP'd and my time zone is rather annoying so I doubt I'll start doing it >.>. Having a custom layering system is definitely something nice, that's for sure :D, I can't wait to see what I'll be able to do with once I amass more items, especially socks and stockings :3. Goodnight and sweet dreams :3. |
I didn't realize RC went down, too. I'm not sure on the status of Dream of Me; they got off to a VERY slow start, and now the website's different and I've either forgotten my password or gotten my account wiped. From a not-user perspective, there are no posts in the forums at all.
What bugged me about DofM was that the admin's name was Mouse. I don't know if it was the same Mouse as Terra. I don't know WTF happened to Manahaven. |
Wait, seriously? I didn't realize Crys was in danger of closing down. I wasn't even active there for very long, but oddly enough, it was the only site I had ever donated to. Oh well.
Also, I never even found out what happened to Manahaven! All I know is that one day I tried to go to the site and it just wasn't there. No notice or anything. But they are closed then? Permanently? Darn. I'm sorry about Royal Creed as well. They hardly even got their feet off the ground. Over the summer I was almost hired as a developer, so they couldn't have been doing too well. :P Stuff like this always brings to my attention the horrifying realization that I have spent years of my life collecting pixels and they could all disappear at any time. >.> |
I just came from Crysandrea. It has a lot of potential to be big. It has a lot going for it. Especially the simplicity and customization aspect. The forums are moderately active and the people are friendly.
But no one outside Crysandrea knows about it unless they are lucky to know someone who plays Crysandrea that would say "Hey check out this website" Crysandrea should work on getting known. Have referral bonuses or advertise on facebook. |
Oh, lots of people outside of Crys know about Crys. We just choose to not join or be active for reasons.
|
Yes, like Espy said and that's why I stop being active a long time ago on there or don't even go post at all anymore. I'm glad I made the right decision to stay with Trisphee, it is small but it is a really good site and the owner is someone I really trust with running Trisphee.
Long live Trisphee! * Also who the new guy people are talking about? Isn't it still Pixeltweak aka tylor? If it is him, he isn't new at all he was the first owner of Crysandrea and then he gave it to tea and then tea gave it back to him. When they make the new site...do you think it's really going to last or are they going to pull up the same tricks? I wouldn't trust joining and working hard again when you never know if this is going to happen again . |
I'm honestly in no way surprised that Crys is in trouble. They've been in trouble for a while now. However, the measures they've been taking to keep the site alive have been somewhat akin to putting a bandage on a zombie bite. The infection is spreading. They're becoming more grotesque and unfriendly by the day, and there's no cure except to kill it off and start with a fresh subject.
I was active on Crys for a while a little over a year ago, but I kept returning to Tris because of the sense of community I feel here. I was never really welcomed on Crys the way I was here. Even just last month I tried making some friends in the yaoi hangout over there, thinking I would get along with my fellow fujoshi, but they spurned me and pushed me away the moment I mentioned a fandom they didn't like. If that's the kind of attitude I'm going to get when I try to reach out to the userbase over there, I say let them rot. Let them rot, and then shoot them in the face. |
Yeah according to Facebook and some of the site members RC is closing for good, though a lot of the development team came together to start on another site. It apparently closed down several times and was experiencing a change in ownership that didn't get completed. Some of the people that are on there though probably could explain it better.
|
Wow, for serious?
I know every single mod/admin on that forum. I wonder what the heck happened? In any case, I'm glad I wasn't severely attached to my items over there. Else this news would have pissed me off right quick. |
manahaven was also owned by pixeltweak and when it got too glitchy he put it on hiatus then just killed it to 'revamp' it later
|
From what I understand, it was mostly a financial thing.
They were struggling to make ends meet, and Tea/PixelTweak had been paying for the site out of their own pockets for months. They couldn't afford the servers or paychecks for the pixelists/artists/admins/coders. People really only donated for the TYIs (Donation Items) and those had barely been coming out because they have, I believe, all of three people on their artist/pixel team at the moment who, again, they can't afford to pay. There's also been the issue of the site not growing as a community. Their userbase has been dwindling down into oblivion for some time thanks to all the glitches the site has. I know a lot of users have also been quitting because of the lack of TYIs, which I addressed previously. Crys also has always had the problem of the rich user/poor user divide. On Crys, you would be lucky to get 5g from a regular post. From my understanding, the only ways to make serious bank over there are selling off TYIs, drawing art, or role-playing. The existing userbase, or at least what I've experienced of it, isn't all that welcoming either. Sure, you might get a "Hey, welcome (back) to the site!" or something like that, but no invitations to join any discussions, no pointers, pretty much nothing more than that. Then, when you try to join in on a conversation, they tend to marginalize you and ignore your very existence, pushing you aside and beating you down mentally for butting on on their conversations. One wrong word and you're nothing more than a blemish on the thread in which you've posted. It just absolutely makes me sick. Oh, I'm sorry, did that sound a bit angry and vindictive? Wait, no, I'm not sorry. That's exactly how it was supposed to sound. There were two or three places there where I'd posted on a fairly regular basis, but then the owners of those threads went on hiatus around the same time and I'd felt very displaced. I wasn't being welcomed in any other circles, being made to feel like the redheaded stepchild. Well, this redhead has been ready to go axe crazy on them for a good long time now. Thanks to this self-destructive implementation, though, I don't have to! They're killing themselves off all on their own! Please excuse me while I go into a fit of maniacal laughter in the corner. |
LMAO. Reyoki, I love you!
I returned a few times for the events, when certain friends had asked me to come post with them. But for the most part, I was ignored, and subjected to lude and crude topics, most of which I would rather have been stabbed in the face, than take part in. I'm just.. I don't know. Do they really expect people to come back after ANOTHER revamp? This one, wiping the ENTIRE site, and making EVERYONE start from scratch again? I had a serious issue with their gold earning system too, though. And most of the TYI's didn't peak my interest. Not only that, but.. I don't know. I feel BAD for them, but at the same time, it was due to happen? |
-munches on chips- No worries dudes, if it came down to it we'd figure out a way for Tris to keep going, mostly just for you guys, cause your the reason it's still hoppin' yo.
:I And Coders and artists are expensive unless you can work out a good deal with everyone. I don't know what they were paying for everyone but everyone on staff here is really kind and has helped Tris alot because they genuinely like the site. (Or their like Coda, who is just chained to it lolololol) |
I love you, too, Batty. XD I know I can get terribly amusing when I get angry. I can also get very poetic! You should see some of my rants about other things.
|
i dont know how that paycheck thing happened, it used to be volunteer for everything but coders and mods and even then mods got pain next to nothing
but yeah, that is why i left crys the second time because there was noone to talk to and trying for conversations was like picking scabs |
That is just the sexiest way you could have described that Choco <3
And I'm betting they were probably trying to up their image and started to try and pay everyone, which is why they crashed so hard. |
Coda is chained but they have a good system here with that from my understanding Artists get paid in their pixels on site..... so a lot less mess of handing out money.
|
Well yea, we do on site compensation, it's really the least you can do, I mean alot of avatar site staff are volunteers.
|
XD what can i say, i am eloquent
tch, the best way is to pay artists in items, mods in respect, and coders in cash, trying to throw money at people you want to be family is not going to keep them because then it becomes just a paycheck and when things get hard they wont want to stay |
I PAY THE MODS IN LOOOOOOVE!
Gallers handles the Artists, I think she gives them free doodles. |

The max amount of in-game currency you could get per post on Crysandrea was 20 and the forum games forum didn't grant any in-game currency. However I myself, without donating, without selling TYIs and also barely posting, managed to get 40k palla/in-game currency by simply hunting in the forest 2 times each day on both of my accounts there. So it is possible even if it takes a lot of time and most of the palla was due to a snap-free weekend there, else I'd have a lot less, that's for sure. Like I said, I was more of a lurker on Crys for the last few months, but some users did seem rather hostile, especially when talking about the TYI-s if they didn't like even 1 thing about them. When the last TYIs were released 15 days or so ago and the former lead pixelist of the site, who had quit due to being too busy at the time (she was also Cry's former owner, before pixeltweek, the current owner, came back), gave a little bit of crique on the items (it was just 2 points, one was that the shading was little too soft and the other that the slippers should have been a bit larger) she was almost jumped on by some of the people who usually complained about past TYIs a lot... I can understand that they liked the items due to their theme and that they were happy there were TYIs at all (in an announcement it was said that there wouldn't even be any TYIs that month but they managed to find an artist willing to make them) but still, this is the person who made a very large amount of TYIs and commons on the site and overall an experienced pixelist, was jumping on them for a little critique really necessary? Overall I think that a large part of the problems on Crys were due to miscommunication and misunderstandings on the part of management and the users >.<. I've never really had anyone be rude to me on Crys but, like I said, I wasn't the most active person there for months and things could have changed. Once Crys re-launches I'll make another account on it (as my current one will no longer exist in another 15 days) and do what I've always done there. Post every now and then and try to make as nice an avatar as I can xD. |
Areishia - That's always a problem, doesn't matter what avatar site it is the pixels will always be the main focus and people want their opinions to be heard. We try to listen to everyone and make adjustments for future items based on user wants, we'll never make everyone happy but atleast we try to make the majority happy.
And yea there usually is alot of miscommunication between staff and users, we're trying to negate that here with our suggest threads and the feedback threads we've been putting up with every item release, in general it is helping us slowly understand what the site really needs. Crys probably should have listened to their users more but it seems like it's more of them wanting to start fresh without so many glitches and stuff. And their probably hoping for a friendlier userbase when they re-open. |
I've been going on every day and bug hunted at least once, if not two or three times a day. In the past two and a half months I've made close to 20k, and I have over 400 berries I'd been saving for the next snap-free weekend... which will now not be happening.
I will say, though, that I am going to join the new Crysandrea once it opens up. If I'm part of the group chosen for the new closed beta, that'd be cool, too. I figure if I can be part of the new community there right out of the gate I might have a chance to be a part of some conversations without getting my face ripped off. |
dude, i have things to say about tea i cant say because i can get in trouble but she is the reason i quit the first time and did not come back for a year (though i refound tris because of it so it is not all that bad) she was not someone who should have been in charge of running a site no matter how pretty her pixels were

I guess they should have indeed paid more consideration to the item suggestion thread. I hope they won't repeat the same mistakes twice. Quote:
Frankly, I'm pretty neutral on the whole thing, mostly. |
