[Athilea & Jurinjo] Shadow Magicks
Behold the cheap magic of copy and paste xD;
No believes in magic anymore, at least most don't. And those that do are rather few in comparison. The magic left in our world is weak. And it's because of the paranoia of our ancestors they sealed away all the magic in a pocket between dimensions. It is small, but chaotic as pure magic is eventually formed order. Allowing a world to grow and thrive... inhabitants of this world are either thrown into here as "heretics" by an ancient system to kill anyone who practices the arts. The enity that fulfills this is the reapers (or whatever you want). Anyways that's the basics, and this story is actually reused of my first own rp long dead ((this is between me and Athilea so please don't post. But if you want to read have fun, though I doubt we're interesting enough to hold your attention lol)) |
Name: Suede Vertolle
Age: 16 Gender: Male Fighting Style: Favors fire spells and a handful of other spells that make him hard to hit. Suede can survive many blows but is prone to mistakes, and weak to ice and stun effects. Bio: Suede is known to his friends as Mr. Smiley. Ever the ball of sunshine he moves forward in life thinking only the best of things. He never really believed in magic till he came face to burn with a fireball another novice wizard inadvertently sent flying at him. Having such power was like a dream come true, unfortunately the dream became a nightmare. A reaper tracked him down, not that he knew about it in the first place, and found himself thrown into another world... Appearance: Naturally pale complexion and black hair, which he recently dyed with some white bands. It goes into a pony tail most of the time. He is 5ft 9in tall, and very skinny. 1st picture I used for him Gift art to me Gift Art- and yes Suede is terrified of spiders xD |
Username: Athilea Majiri
Character Name: Nelda "Ghost" Mercer Age: 15 Gender: Female Fighting Style: She tends to use her abilities in a way that would leave her enemies off balance and allow her a chance to escape. Usually by using ice to slip them up unexpectedly. Bio: She has always been passive, the sort to try to stay out of fights when she could. If they could not be avoided, then she did what she could to escape before it came to blows. The reason was because she had discovered her abilities at a very young age and knew what she could do accidentally. The last thing that she wanted was to be discovered, and the best way to avoid that was to hide her ability. Appearance: She is short, standing around 5'2 with blond hair that is so pale as to almost be white. Her complexion, though natural, was pale enough that she was often called Ghost. Her eyes were a shade of blue that could be considered 'icy' This is what she looks like...most likely without the tiger. |
At first it was a normal day for him. He went to school and came home. Later once it was dark out he decided to venture outside the apartment where he lived. Nothing exciting happened at first.
It was peaceful well...as much peace as a city street could get. Suede wasn't like most boys as he had found he was quite good at magic. However having talent alone wasn't good enough. Being smart enough to not risk using it in the open he "listened" to the magic energy floating around him. At first he could only sense what he could describe as a jumble of noise. But gradually he started to recognize things. With eyes closed Suede contentedly walked passed an alleyway without even a sense of danger on his mind. And then it grabbed him. The shadows literally shot out from the alley and pulled him in. At first he panicked- thrashing and attempting to scream, only to be stifled. Realizing what had him in its grips wasn't human he did one of his favorite escape tactics: teleporting. It was a difficult spell and he could only escape about a meter. But he was out of the grasp of the darkness. "crapcrapcrapshadowsalmostatemecrap!" Suede was wary of every shadow as he ran towards the closest save haven: a little cafe on the corner. His eyes darted everywhere for the slightest movement. It was night, darkness is hard to avoid at night. |
It was a typical day in her life. She did not go to the school because her parents were afraid of what might happen. They knew about her, and kept her secret close. So she was home schooled. Unfortunately this meant that she didn't really have a lot of friends, and when she did venture into the world she was shunned.
It mattered little to her though. She had places that she enjoyed being, and she would visit them even if she had no company. So she left her house with the thought of going to the cafe and reading for a while. It had a nice atmosphere and pleasant music. The girl avoided using her abilities in anyway, though. She knew she could touch the magic around her, hear it, feel it, but she didn't want to risk anything happening while she had a tight grip on the source of her abilities. Nalda was walking down the street and towards the cafe. She didn't notice the boys footsteps until they were on top of her and she was not fast enough to get out of his way. They fell over in a tangle of arms and legs, her book flying from her hand and skidding across the side walk. She had not screamed though, the sound she had made was more of mild surprise then fear. |
FWAP in a blur of adrenaline Suede found himself kissing pavement. He'd been so intent on shadows he missed obvious obstructions...wait he hit someone not something. The fall happened in a few very short seconds, and it took just slightly longer for Suede to gather himself.
"Sorry, in a hurry gotta go!" A slight pang of guilt hit him as he turned his back to what was essentially a hit and run victim then something else clicked. The fear he held calmed somewhat as he felt the aura around the girl. "You...have power to don't you?" In other words magic, but he couldn't really say that could he? She would think he's crazy! Well his way of saying didn't really make much of a difference then did it? |
She was still sitting on the side walk, dazed and looking up at him. She hadn't been hurt other then a few scraps, but the impact and fall seemed to have scared her more then she had shown. Her icy eyes held him for a long time before she responded, her voice a little shaky, "Y...yes." She was hesitant to answer.
She knew nothing of the boy that had knocked her off of her feet in his haste. She had just shared something with him that was a dangerous secret. Yet, he had known. How? He must have something of magic in him. That could explain his haste, which would potentially make her admission all the more dangerous. The air seemed to grow colder around her before she realized what she was doing. Ice crystals formed on the side walk, making it sparkle, and their breath became visible. The girl had suddenly become wary of the situation, and was reacting without thinking as a result. |
((not a very good post...I blame the coffee xD)) Suede's face lifted into a large smile. He didn't knew he had felt so alone until he realize there were more out there. That never struck him before until now. Suede hated cold weather with a passion and notice it get noticeably colder. Not enough to draw much attention- except that around her frost was starting to form."Hey it's okay." he said focusing some heat on his hand as he reached out for her to grab it. |
She stood suddenly and stepped back from him, her eyes wide. "Why were you running? Who is after you? Did..did someone find out about you?" The last thing the girl needed was someone finding out the secret she had worked so hard to hide, and this boy may very well have brought it all crashing down on her head.
((It's alright. ^_^ I don't mind short posts.)) |
((Whatever happens the end result will still have to be that thing, whatever it looks like, to throw us into that other world)) Suede's nervousness came back. "Oh crap I forgot about that!" If this was an anime he'd do a face palm right now. However this was apparently a horror movie cause at that very moment a shadow like a dark hand rose from the ground behind the girl. Next thing he knew a fireball was soaring at it. "Behind you!" he called after realizing what he'd done. But not carry about it while his life was in danger. |
She turned and backed up a couple of steps before she managed to gather herself. Her eyes were wide and she made attempts to control the ice she had already formed against the thing, but nothing seemed to work. She could not seem to do anything that would effect a shadowy creature as this way.
She glanced back at him, and that momentary lapse in attention was all it took for the thing to seize an opportunity. It grabbed her and, though she struggled, she could do nothing against the thing. Nelda screamed and the air around her seemed to freeze in her terror, but it did not seem to effect the creature. |
((I'm debating whether where we get spat out. Want to be near civilization or more rural?))
Whoever that girl was her grasp over magic was impressive. Her ice whirled and spiked at the creature but it didn't seem affected. As if...all it was was a shadow. It was his turn to fight back before it got him too. So direct hits didn't work, his first fireball helped prove fire did nothing either. Suede jumped up summoning as much energy as he could spare for his flurry of attacks. He swiped at the air sending lines of flame at and around the shadow while at the same time commanding bolts of lighting to rain down. Of course that was more sparingly used since there was a risk of Bar-Bee-Q-ing the girl. All were equally of no affect, but now he realized something he didn't with the ice. The beast absorbed all of it! Before Suede couldn't even reach the earth again he was in its clutches and the darkness swallowed him. He gasped, allowing the darkness in and it filled him like water. Stifling his scream, suffocating him, and ending all thought. Later Suede came to. Groaning as he lifted his battered body he thew out a question to no one in particular. "Where am I?" |
((I'm thinking rural would be nice.))
She fought for her life, because she was certain that death was immanent. The next thing she knew she was waking up on the cold, but soft, ground. She could smell the earth that was already frozen around her and immediately she controlled herself and stopped the weave of magic around her. Nelda tried to push herself up, but the world lurched and spun so she lay back for a moment. The boy was a little distance from her, and she heard him ask the question. Her voice was soft, but it carried, "I...do not know." She turned her head towards the sound of his voice, "What...what was that thing? Where is it?" |
Unbelievably Suede couldn't find it in himself to panic. How they got here was a blank. The way parts of his body ached probably meant he fell and hit something. He attempted to look around only to be struck down by nausea as well. "urgk" Suede stifled down his dinner almost choking on it.
A deep breath, he felt for the familiar and horrible being. "Everything feels normal. That shadow thing sucked in all energy around it." Suede shifted slightly to pull a twig from out under his ass. "ow...but doesn't it feel like there's more magic here?" he asked the girl. Suede hoped where ever they were nothing else came after them til they both where back in shape to even stand. |
The girl drew her eyebrows together and felt around her before nodding. She immediately regretted the motion, "Yes...yes it does." She closed her eyes before she sat up and opened her eyes again. Nelda gasped and stood immediately, though she staggered a bit.
She turned around and almost fell again, but there was a look of disbelief on her face, "What...where are we?" She raked her fingers through nearly white hair before she looked back at him, "This..." She paused, "Where ever we are, it's beautiful." |
((I hope you don't mind me choosing it to be daytime))
Suede sat up in a relaxed facing the same way as the girl. "yeah it is...oh we never shared our names. I'm Suede." He smiled bathing in the glow of the rising sun. A beautiful start to a rather grim night they had. Just for the moment he cleared all those concerns and petty logic and felt the majesty of nature surrounding them. |
She closed her eyes, seeming not to notice that he had spoken for a time. This place certainly felt different from what she was use to. After a moment she opened her eyes and looked over at him, "I am Nelda...but most people just call me Ghost."
She made a slow spin before sighing, "I...am assuming that we will need to find a town." The girl did not seem to want to leave this place, but without knowing anything about the area they needed to find out what they could. ((not at all. ^_^)) |
"Ghost huh? I can see why." he replied wondering if she dyed her hair that color. Suede himself had dyed a strand of his hair white. He sighed, "yeah and I didn't exactly get an A plus in camping last time."
Suede picked himself off the ground brushing off the dirt and grass. "Which means we better find high ground or a river. But then we won't know which way we should follow it...great situation i dragged you into." Suede stretched his arms casually but nonetheless he sounded apologetic. |
She shook her head slightly, "Do not apologize. You are no more at fault then I am." She raked her fingers through her hair as she looked around again, "Well, your guess is as good as mine. With any luck we will find some sort of trail...something that might be frequently traveled."
Ghost tilted her head slightly, and picked a direction seemingly randomly. "I think I can lead us to water." |
((We never decided on what this world would be like. Is it going to be medieval-y? What other races could there be than humans? Afterall no humans existed here until they were hunted and thrown in here, or born from the hunted.))
"hmm so you saying that thing probably attacked us because we can do magic?" Now that Suede thought of it that did make a lot of sense. Good head on that girl. He nodded trusting her to lead them. She obviously was good at water based magic. Suede had some connection to the air but for the most part he was better of with fire and electricity. For a moment he dispaired over how useless they would be in all but a fight til he remembered with electricity he could power a battery indefinitely. Such as say...his mp3 player. Without hesitation he had it out and was bobbing his head with the tunes. |
((I think medieval fantasy type setting could be fun. Probably with all the creatures one would expect from a high fantasy, sound good to you?))
"It's possible. It's also possible that we were in the wrong place at the wrong time." She lead on and it was some time before she noticed that he was listening to music. Her gaze swept back to him and she raised an eyebrow questioningly. In her mind, it was best that they figure out where they were before they worried about such luxuries, but she could not blame him for wanting to be distracted for a time. Her own attention turned back to the task at hand, and before long she could hear the trickling of water, and something else. Was that...the laughter of children? She moved as quietly as she could, peeking through the heavily leaved tree limbs and before them was spread a farm. "What...what are they wearing?" She tilted her head slightly as she took in the garments. Their clothing was nothing like theirs. It put her in mind of fairy tales she use to read. |
"feh, the worst timing." he responded not noticing her questioning look to his headphones. Suede peeked to what she was referring and wondered about their clothes as well. It was almost straight out of a Fairy tale. Some variation he saw for example there were women here who wore pants. Just a tiny variation...
"I hope they speak our language." Suede said quietly. However in response to his question he felt something hold against his neck while someone spoke with an irish accent. "Aye we do laddie but yer not from 'round here so we must be puttin' ya in the jail til the mayor see yah." Suede complied. It was hard to resist when a sword lie against your neck. |
She turned slowly to them, her pale eyes wide at the sight of a weapon, "No, we are not from here. Would you mind, however, telling us where we are sir? We are a bit," Ghost paused trying to find the word before settling for one, "lost." The girl shifted from one foot to another as she looked at the man, "I do not intend to resist, I just wish to know that."
Her hands were held up to her sides to show that she meant them no harm, and had no weapons. She could not help but notice the sword that was still pointed toward her companion though, "Please, lower the sword, we will not resist you. We truly do not mean any harm." |
((gah I am terrible with accents xD; ))
"ah a good mannered lass she is." he said pulling his sword away. "Call me Riley, didn't see than name coming I bet." he laughed "Yer in a world full of magic and judgin by yer clothes I assume magic is was yah practice?" The thick red-haired man made a motion to his companions who then pulled out two cuffs. "We do not nuttin bad be falling ye but yah see not all wizards in your situation be the kindly sort." He then gestured to the cuffs for the two to willing put their wrists in them. Suede did not like this and every inch of him wanted to fight back. But the men in front of him could not be idiots. They probably were prepared even if he made that choice. Grudginly he looked at them then to Ghost to see if she agreed they had no other choice. |
She held her wrists out for the cuffs to be placed around them. They were slender and delicate looking. "Nelda is my name." She glanced at Suede from the corner of her eyes. The girl was not sure how much to reveal. These men seemed to know so much though. A world of magic? The idea thrilled her, but it also terrified her.
Being so used to having to hide who she was, the girl was not sure how she would feel if she did not have to. She took a deep breath before looking back to the men, "H-how did you know about us. though?" Ghost was suddenly wary. |
Just after Ghost introduced herself by her real name he put forth his, "I'm Suede." and followed suit allowing his wrists to shackled. A moment of slight panic came over him and the wonderful auras of magic he could sense around him suddenly just died.
Riley noticed Suede's sudden demeanor changed but said nothing of it. He and his companions lead them towards the village. People curiously gathering to see the new people. "Aye very full of magic! If you did not already know some ye wouldn't be here. The reaper thinks sending yah to his realm kills yah. Luckily it living, breathing. Unlucky for you we are not so advanced as yer world and some newcomers like to take advantage of the "primitive folk" they think us to be." In no time they were at a church. Riley led them into a building next to it but not adjoined to the main building. "Keep yer asses planted in here. I'll do me best to get ye on the mayor's good side." |
Ghost nodded, though there was more then a little fear in her own eyes at the sudden feeling of the magic leaving her. She sat down on the floor of the building they were in. Even in the world she was from she found the floor more comfortable, "So, the Reaper was that shadow thing I suppose. Interesting."
((Sorry for the short, lame post)) |
"huh? Why is that interesting? So now we know it has a name. I'm just thankful they didn't bother confiscating our stuff." Suede had put his mp3 away when they started towards the village and still hadn't taken it back out.
|
She had the look of someone that was trying to work something out, "It's interesting because we may very well be able to find more out about the thing. Perhaps, if we are diligent, we can find it's connection to this place and use it to help us save other magic users rather then trying to kill them. I'm sure that at least some of them have been killed in the transition to this world for one reason or another."
She leaned back against the wall as she looked over at him, "It also helps to explain why it was after you, and possibly me. It could feel our power. It has a way of finding people like us. Even if the thing doesn't know where it's actually sending us, it can feel us." |
((I was so tempted to have the mayor call her Zelda lol))
Suede listened as Ghost voiced her deep thoughts on the matter. He didn't think about that and hell he wouldn't sit by to have other people die. What she was proposing sounded crazy though. First they'd need information, and for that they need access to them. Or if the people of this world hadn't accumulated knowledge enough they needed the time to do it. It seemed more of a life-long quest now. But then quest or job it could pretty much be the same here. "The thought that it could come here for us is chilling. Magic did nothing to it." Suede agreed, "But it found us because we used magic in a place that had hardly in mana at all. "Your friend makes a point young lady...uh Nelda was it?" he asked trying to remember. Suede turned to the voice to see an old man "No sense in causing fright when there is no threat to us from the Reaper. But you are very observant. I like that. Safe to say you're not here to terrorize this world. You're free to go." Just like that the jail doors opened and a man was moving in to remove the cuffs. "What? Just like that?" he asked surprised at the old man, and probably the mayor if he had that authority. |
She looked at the man and stood up with a smile, "Thank you. What I was meaning is that, if it has some attachment to leave things on this world, then perhaps we could use that to our own advantage here and find other people through it."
The girl blushed a little as she found she had a little trouble explaining what her intent was. "Think of the lives we could save in the our world, and who knows how many others, if we can simply use the Reaper ourselves?" She knew what it was like to have to hide her power, and she knew what would have happened had she not. ((That would have been to funny. Had you not pointed it out, I never would have noticed the resemblance.)) |
((hehe, what would her reaction have been? I can't think of a name I'm bad at them. >.<)) "That's a great power to be trifling with." Suede warned "I want to learn more about this world, it was kind of boring that our people on Earth already understand all the basics and now only nerds could explore new things...oh speaking of what do you guys call this world?" |
She nodded, "Of course, I agree, but think of it? It's an interesting possiblity." She looked to the man, curious what his response would be. "This world. Well, I don't know what it's original name was, but we call it Camia."
"That is a lovely name. So, is there someplace that we might be able to gather knowledge of the area, or is it best if we just speak with people and find things out that way?" |
((I'm talking waaay to much lol))
The old mayor chuckled. "Your enthusiasm is refreshing, newcomers have tendency to land near the cities instead of way out here." Their Irish captor from earlier jumped in now appearing from seemingly nowhere despite his size. "But yah don't just get access to stuff or attempt to save lives just like that. Even if our humble village could provide ye with the text." The mayor cleared his throat. "He's right. Imagine you've never had a job and your parents kicked you out right after you graduated. You have no experience and hardly any knowledge other than the obvious. Fortunately we can help. I'm on good terms with a school headmaster, he'll be at the city Sonfra for a festival tomorrow. Riley please see if the carvan's left." Suede really liked this mayor. Easy to forgive and quick to help out. "Really? I don't know how we could repay you for this kindness." |
She looked at the man in surprise. Where had he come from? Her attention moved towards the mayor again, "That would be wonderful!" The girl could not hide her excitement. "We have to do something for you though."
Ghost looked at Suede, "Perhaps we can help if we have a chance to learn more." ((It's okay. sometimes I forget to respond ooc to people. I get caught up in the post can it just slips my mind.)) |
Suede nodded, "Yes a debt we'll pay with time Ghost." he said giving her a nudge. The mayor meanwhile had started writing some things. "Yes you'll have to know how to contact Headmaster Korin...and maybe a few notes here about currency" he paused...then started scribbling more on the paper.
"I hope we can still read the paper after he's done." he whispered to his friend. ((2 more pictures of Suede were added. I forgot about the gift art I got for him. And yup he has arachnophobia lol)) |
The girl nudged him back, not really understanding what it had meant in the first place. Then her attention turned to the mayor as he seemed to talk to himself. The man certainly was filling the paper with a lot of information. Which made Suedes comment all the funnier. She could not stifle the giggle when he whispered and immediately looked very embarrassed at the outburst. Her pale skin suddenly turning a light pink.
|
((meh posting is getting hard. Let's shove them on the caravan. What would we like to have happen? We could get there safely and wrestle with understanding a different society. Or have bandits attack...or worse a necromancer and we end up walking a little aimlessly til we come upon a camp of elves or maybe royal nights?))
Suede couldn't help smiling widely, it was taking all he had not to also laugh at how easily she was embarrassed. Her hair helped emphasize her now flushed skin. Riley entered, "come on now, the caravan is being impatient." The mayor seemed a little disappointed to not finish what he was writing but it would have to do as he handed the paper to Nelda. She seemed more capable of the two anyway. Riley in turn wasted no time practically shoving them out the door and on a wagon....with animals. Hurray! |
((Oh so many options. Hrmmmm.....I think getting attacked and having to wander around for a while sounds pretty fun.))
Nelda was taken by surprise as she was directed suddenly after the door, the mayors paper clutched in one hand, and forced to sit on a wagon where animals were kept. She did not like the latter part. It was not that she did not like animals, she just preferred not to be trapped on a wagon with them for who knew how long. The girl sat as far away from them as she could, putting herself in the corner of the thing, and her eyes were on Suede. She did not know him well, but he was the only thing that was even vaguely familiar to her in this world. There was no telling what awaited them ahead, but she knew she wanted Suede nearby for as long as she could have him there. |
((hehe many options like a restaurant menu! D: I usually end up picking something I'm familiar with even though I'm tempted to try something new.))
Suede gagged "ugh! Someone farted." His nose retreated to the safety of his shirt. Once again he pulled out his mp3 player, only hiding the wires in his hair like he had done so many times during classes. They'd been in the wagon for awhile, even looked over the paper. But now even that was no longer that kept his brain busy. "Oh I forgot" he started "Would you like to listen to some songs?" he offered Ghost on earphone only to jerk towards the front of the wagon as it came to an unexpected stop. The animals were immediately alert and uneasy. The noise outside the high pitched wood fence keeping animals in wasn't encouraging either. "No-no please just take what you want!" "But if we did that you would tell the nice men at the next outpost wouldn't ya?" another man's voice said. "Bandits!" he whispered to Ghost. Suede popped his head up to survey the odds fighting them and winning. They'd have to fight anyway. If what Suede heard was right they were planning on killing everyone anyway. |
