[Jadey & Juju] School of Arcane Arts

Story

Not the most creative title considering that is the main setting for this story...you see many human generations ago the elves, ever the talented race with magic, decided they wanted to learn of other cultures. Namely the color culture of humans. However leaving their own lands and going into the human towns was and always will be a tough venture and only those who were determined would truely last in such a place. That is why the school was established. Right on the border of the elf lands it was still in relative comfort but close enough to a human capital to allow humans in with ease.

At this school there is a lone elf. A young boy well on his way to being a "man" so to speak (the humans language has its limits) will start a new year at the school. And along with many other new students comes a drow. They have a reputation for being...err evil. However their paths are fated to cross....that's all I got. End narration =P

My Character

Name: Xul'Bryn Zaurae
Age: 15
Appearance: link
Bio: Xul'Bryn, or just Bryn for short is one of the feared drow. He keeps information about his past brief but it appears he does not have much liking for them. The young Drow grew up in the harsh and unforgiving underworld and has little tolerance for complainers...
Magic: Natural at manipulating darkness and illusion
Favorite Classes/Teachers: undecided
Hated Classes/Teachers: Geography teacher, Mrs. Yllethya

((meh I got lazy and used a picture instead of thinking about his appearance as in my head. He had lots of depth but it vanished when I started typing =p)

((___jade___))> 09-27-2010 12:18 AM

Name: Kyriel Ba'Anthuur
Age: 15
Appearance: Kyriel's hair is a rich, honey-like brunette, falling down his back with a nice, tousled texture, with very slight curl at the ends. He keeps it pulled back out of his face most of the time, though when he especially feels alone because of his looks, he tries to hide behind it. When it is pulled back, it reveals a very beautiful face with delicate features, one that looks rather feminine. His jawline is the most masculine-looking thing about his face, being sharp and angular, though still thin. His features seem to be perfectly even and proportioned, with a thin, straight nose, cupid's-bow, slightly plump lips, and pretty, slanted, deep-brown eyes. His skin is tanned, almost enough to be considered bronze, but just a shade short.
Kyriel's build is very slight, making him seem younger than he actually is. This also adds to the mistake that he is a girl, though his posture helps to lead away from that, as well as his obvious lack of breasts. His frame is small and his hands thin and graceful, and he even has a rather curvy figure for a boy. He is slightly athletic, though his muscles are far less than most Elven boys his age.
Bio: Kyriel is the son of a wealthy, powerful Elven mage and a wise, absolutely gorgeous healer. It was always expected that any child of theirs would certainly be inclined toward magic, considering that both of his parents practiced it, and well. However, they were not really counting on his appearance being what it was when he was born.
His appearance only caused trouble throughout his childhood. He was given very special attention, some overly religious people believing him to be some sort of god incarnate. Because of this, he was very spoiled early on, and yet very pursued by religious fanatics, perverts, and commoners alike. They managed to keep him away from all such types, though his mother worried for him none the less.
Once he was about eight, they decided that it was time to get away from the city for their son's sake. They moved out into the middle of the woods, hoping to get some peace there. It worked for a few years, though soon enough, they were discovered by a band of insane priests who decided to take him to "better care" for him. They succeeded, adding two years of pure trauma to the boy's life, at the end of which they tried to "free him from his earthly body". His parents, thankfully, found him before it was too late and his father, with a display of great magic, was able to save him. This also resulted in Kyriel finding out a bit about his own powers, though it was far too powerful for him. Even between that and the lunatics trying to kill him, his mother's healing powers were more powerful yet.
Soon enough, his father decided that it was time to get him somewhere more sheltered and safe. He had already been teaching him to use his magic, but they were constantly harassed even still. Once he found out about the school, he was desperate to get him signed up, hoping that his son could make a name for himself in his magical abilities rather than his appearance.
Magic: Some healing skill inherited from his mother; etc. (Idk yet though even he does not know much of his abilities yet)
Favorite Classes/Teachers: Languages and Art; the Half-Elven, somewhat eccentric Art teacher, Mr. Tsorvzovac
Hated Classes/Teachers: Math and History; the strict, Elven Geography teacher, Mrs. Yllethya (a.k.a. Mrs. Dragonfire)

((this will be sucky but I'll live, I hope you do too xD))

It was a long and rather uneventful trip to the "magic school" as his travel guide liked to put it. The tone of us voice told Xul'Bryn how much of a joke he thought it was. And if he didn't need that guide's help to finding the school he'd have done something to shut him up. Through four full days of...him. Hopefully no one with their head full of prejudice would be stupid enough to cross his path. He thanked his ancestors for finally brining his new home into sight.

Most people didn't seem to entertain that idea in the first place. Their skittishness around him held a secret delight for Bryn.

{{~*Ish okeee~ x3
Wow, this ended up being longer than I expected. o,o*~}}

School was about to be back in, and today was the day for everyone to move back into the dorms. Or, in the case of some, move into their new dorms. The place was full of wandering people, some of them finding their old friends, some of them just trying to find their way around or being led by guides, some of which were students and some teachers, some even not from the school at all.

Not far away from the river of people was the edge of the forest, and in one of the trees on the very edge of the forest was a small being, watching the scene from behind a veil of silky hair. His legs were pulled up to his chest, pointed chin resting on the top of his knees. His position was precarious, his bare feet hardly keeping their hold on the branch. Although he had been going to this school for a year now, he had yet to find a friend to be looking for in the crowd, to hug and laugh with like the rest of the kids.

Without warning, the branch began to shake violently, almost throwing Kyriel out of the tree. Grabbing onto the branch tightly, he let out a little yip before trying to locate the problem. There was nothing at the base of the branch, but it was no surprise to him. This was a magic school, after all...

Finally, he located the foe. A well-built human boy stood at the base of the tree, hand raised as he was obviously the cause of the branch's violent shaking. "What's a girl like you doing up in a tree?" He sneered, chuckling a bit. "Or are you just looking for flowers to pick?" The boy continued, now joined by two more snickering teens. Kyriel knew these three. They had been the main negative thing about his first year in this school. The leader was Grylle. Grylle was one of the most athletic people in the whole school, and he let it go to his head. The other two basically were friends with him just for protection from him. They were also rather good students when it came to P.E., so they had a way in.

"Come on down, little girl, we won't hurt you..." One of the lackeys hissed. That one was an Elf, one of his own kin. Kyriel disliked that even more than he disliked Grylle's cruelty.

Though not because of the request, Kyriel turned to find himself a good spot to land. It was a rather long fall, probably at least fifteen feet. Letting go with his feet, he let his legs dangle in the air for a moment before dropping. He hit the ground hard, his legs crumpling under his weight, as slight as it was. The branch stopped moving, the three boys moving in. Kyriel had a good head start though, and he got to his feet and took off running toward the people before they could get to him.

Now Kyriel wished there were more people out in the yard. It would be hard to lose himself when there were so few. However, it was his best chance, so he began weaving through the crowd, turning his head back to see their progress every so often. They were closing in...

It was during one of these check-ups that Kyriel slammed into someone. His first thought was not to apologize to the person, but to see if that spelled his capture by the pursuers. He looked back again from his new spot on the ground, only to find that they were gone. He thought that might have been them disappearing at high speeds around the corner, even. 'What was that about...?'

Once Kyriel turned around to finally apologize to the person he'd plowed into, he thought he figured out why they had run. At first he suspected that perhaps it had been the principal, but now he saw that it was actually a student. At least he supposed the boy was a student. He looked the right age, though Kyriel had not known that the school was open to Drows. There had not been any Drows enrolled last year...

So awed he was by the appearance of the person, that Kyriel could not even form the words of apology on his lips, nor could he even pull himself up off of the ground. This caused for a rather rude stare, though he was hardly even conscious of it so taken he was in his study of the Drow's dark skin, snowy hair, and muscular figure.

{{~*I is horrible at insults. XD*~}}

Jurinjo 09-27-2010 12:50 PM

((lol the insults were good enough for kid bullies Jadey ^^
Although Poor Kyriel. Bryn is going to snap at him..but I didn't have it in me to really be mean. I have too many reasons to be happy right now. Like my acne is so low I can actualy see my face. It's amazing! I haven't seen my face since 8th grade at least!))

Bryn didn't pay much attention to the other students. To him they were nothing, except maybe a few he could find to further his own goals. Besides all of them cleared a path anyway. When someone came slamming into him he was caught off guard. Taking it as an assault he immediately lifted the offender and glared right at him. "Idiot! Who do you think you are?" Bryn reflexively flex his free hand to hit the girl. Gender didn't matter to him and it was the females who held superiority where he came from anyway. To beat one would be immensely rewarding. Dark elf or not....

Bryn's scowl formed into a smirk. This girl had beauty many would envy but what became so funny was this was actually a boy! He laughed amused at this. "Damn you're feminine. Transvestite?" By now he released his victim feeling thankful for having a good laugh. "I may just keep you around." He took a step then turned back on him. "If you can amuse me. By the way I'm Xul'Bryn."

((___jade___))> 09-27-2010 10:06 PM

{{~*Lol oh no, you're gonna make him cryyy~ ;P
Nice! :D That's certainly a reason to be happy... ow o Even if I don't suffer that badly from acne, I know what a pain in the rear it can be...*~}}

As the Drow grabbed him, all Kyriel could do was tense up in fear. What was going to happen now? Was he going to hurt him? Was he even really a student there? Heck, what if he tried to kill him?

Wide, brown eyes were stuck staring at the dark fist now. It was not that Kyriel was not used to seeing a fist raised at him, but he did like to know where the blow was going to come from. It helped a bit. If he knew that, he could even move a little bit so that it would hit the soft part of his cheek rather than a bone or his eye. That always hurt less. The thought of getting hurt added to the sudden shock combination of ramming into someone and finding out that the someone was a Drow only caused a great confusion in his whole being. It was bringing up emotions that he tried his very hardest to keep back when out in public, seeing as it was only cause the teasing to continue. It all happened so fast that he could not really stop it though. His lip quivered before he could bite down on it, eyes welling up with tears. The more he looked at the fist, the worse it got, so he tried looking elsewhere. That only brought him to the other boy's face, which was actually even worse than the fist; he had to look at that smirk. He saw a similar look on people's faces almost daily, and to see it on the black, cruel face of someone such as a Drow only made it ten times worse.

Glad when he was released, Kyriel now just wanted to continue running. Maybe until he got to his room. Or even go running down the walkway up to the school in hopes that he could catch up with his father who had left just an hour ago. All he knew was that he wanted to get away from this guy, and fast. The emotion trembling through him would not allow for muscle movement though, the words still coming from the Drow's mouth only concreting that fact. Not only was he laughing at him like everyone else, but he wanted to "keep him around" just so that he could laugh at him? That was just plain evil.

Although Kyriel had never been a very violent person by nature, a very strong urge to give the boy a hard kick in the groin was coming over him. He did not especially want to get in trouble, but it would feel so good! Just one, good kick...

Not wanting to make the Drow think that he was girly and dumb, Kyriel decided to at least respond to what he was saying. "I'm not a transvestite..." He growled, though the tear-stained face accompanying it was not very mean-looking. "I don't care what your name is! You're just another bully who finds pleasure in hurting people just because you don't have any friends!" It was certainly not the best comeback, but Kyriel could not really think of anything better. Finding that he could finally move his legs again, he turned on his heel to leave, not wanting to so much as look at the Drow anymore. It made him feel a little better that he could walk away in a dignified manner rather than run like the coward the other boys constantly reminded him that he was. Though even still, he was planning on taking off into a sprint once he was around the corner. Even as he thought about it, he realized that Grylle and his friends were probably right around the corner waiting for him, ready to torture him some more. At least he was used to them doing it. At least they (at least two of them) were human and he could survive human beatings. Drows were a different story. A very different story...

Jurinjo 09-27-2010 11:43 PM

((For a moment I wanted to hug him but then my OC's personality came though and I laughed xD; ))

The young drow's smirk never changed. Not at his declaration, not at the insult to his self-security. Bryn still wanted to mess with the kid but he felt a spark of respect for him. "You got guts kid." he said despite they probably the same age. 'I hope I can find him during lunch...' he contemplated that to himself when he realized he didn't know where any of his classes were.

A glint appeared in his eye. He silently trailed the girly boy. Putting his control of shadows to use he pulled them closer and became a part of it. If one looked just slightly closer to the trees they would've realized a body shaped shadow. Bryn didn't feel it was important to try not being seen. If that sad excuse of an elf noticed him maybe his red eyes would send chills down his spine. That however was far from Bryn's actual goals.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 12:05 AM

{{~*XD Hehe*~}}

Rounding the corner, Kyriel was relieved to see that Grylle and his gang were not right there waiting. That was good, though they were likely nearby. He could not fully relax quite yet.

After plodding a few more paces he stopped, panting and looking back behind him. The Drow apparently was not following, though Kyriel would not help but get the feeling that he had no reason to relax yet on that either. Letting out a soft, whimpery sigh, he continued. At this point, he was not really sure where he was going. He had a few options, and none of them really looked that great. He could go back to his room, but his roommate would probably be there by now. No matter who that was, he did not want them to see him like this. Another option was to return to a tree to perch in. It was likely that he would be spotted up there just as before. The last option he came up with was just to find a place to hide, preferably a place near some teachers. That seemed like a good idea, though he knew not where to find such a place.

Lost in thought, Kyriel just kept running, only to have said thoughts interrupted by a yell. "Hey!" He turned his head quickly to find that It was Dreit, the Elven companion of Grylle. "There she is!" He hissed loudly enough that both Kyriel and Grylle could hear.

Not bothering to see if they were even going to follow him or not, Kyriel took off running again. Would it ever stop? Could this day get any worse? He soon found that the day could get worse since the other boys, being athletic and far better-built than he, had soon caught up to him. Grylle took a leap, pulling Kyriel's legs out from under him. He hit the ground hard, though he managed to keep his head up, at least.

"Gotcha!" He yelled triumphantly, flipping him over so that he could sit on Kyriel's stomach. Wanting to avoid at all costs the punch or spit or whatever he knew was coming his way, Kyriel tried to squirm away. His breath had been taken away by the much heavier body on top of his though, and his arms and legs were soon locked into place by the other boys.

"What are we gonna do with him now?" Dreit was holding down Kyriel's arms, so he could clearly hear the annoying hiss of a question and see the nasty grin he got which made him look like he had fangs. Sometimes Kyriel wondered why nobody called him "Snake". More importantly, he wondered the same thing the snake had just asked him; what did they plan on doing now? It was not often that they got the skinny boy all to themselves all alone like this.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 12:25 AM

It was not difficult keeping up with his prey. Unknown to to Kyriel though Bryn saw the trio that had fled earlier around the time that boy accidental crashed into him. They were far less subtle about approaching him, but he was too emotional to notice them before it was too late. The poor elf found himself helpless.

"What are we gonna do with him now?" said the one like a snake. Strange how each of the three bore a resemblance to an animal.

"I don't know it's hard to decide something short of killing him isn't it?" Xul'Bryn's voice was soft but the wind carried it to their ears from the shadow of the trees. The three bullies were still fairly in the open plus there wasn't much shadow. Fear and illusion was his greatest weapon right now. Never mind what he carried in his travel pack. He didn't desire to be expelled for attacking students on his first day. Devil knows the faculty would take any excuse they could.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 12:40 AM

The voice was unexpected for two of the boys, though Grylle was too into what he was doing to notice exactly. He just figured it was from the other human boy, although he was not used to the quiet thing saying much like that. "I know, but it's far more fun to torture him. What the hell would we do if we didn't have this entertainment...?" He grinned, getting his face close to Kyriel's so that he could see the Elf squirm.

The other three on the scene noticed the fact that the voice came from elsewhere. Dreit's head snapped in the right direction, though his eyes were not looking hard enough to notice any oddities. The boy at Kyriel's feet flinched as if the sound was sudden and loud, loosening his grip a little even. Kyriel thought he recognized the voice, though it was too hard to tell. With some quick thinking, he squirmed his knees out of the grip of the boy.

"Oi!" Irfen, as the boy was called, yelped. Not bothering to wait another second, Kyriel began to kick wildly, hoping that it was somehow be fruitful. It did not take long for it to pay off indeed; his toes made that much-wanted contact to the soft spot between the boy's legs, making him double over onto the ground. Using this as a distraction, he gave his arms a quick jerk. Unfortunately, Dreit had iron-strong fingers which only held harder at Kyriel's attempts.

"What's wrong with you guys...?" Grylle snarled, though he did not let the odd reaction interrupt his thoughts of torture. "I think we should string him to a tree and play darts..." He snickered, bouncing a little to better empty the Elf's lungs. All Kyriel could think to dow as shake his head violently, still kicking. The thought to cry for help finally came to his mind, though he found his throat constricted between the lump that was still formed there from crying and the lack of sufficient breath coming up his throat.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 01:08 AM

Not letting his first victim take anymore more punishment from the boys Bryn fired 3 weak bursts of dark energy into them. The first one being carefully focused on Grylle. "I didn't think surface-dwellers were so ready for murder. So if I cripple you at least I need to fear being expelled on my first day." he smiled evilly as feel swiftly and easily covered the distance between him and his new targets.
Bryn quickly reached out to grab Grylle by the hair before he could recuperate from it all.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 01:22 AM

The leader of the gang let out a pained cry as the burst hit him, knocking him off of the smaller Elf's torso. Kyriel was glad for the relief, though he was a little freaked out none the less. Even if they were at a magic school and he was quite used to using and seeing other people use magic, it still came as a shock to see it. He had never seen magic like that before.

Dreit had soon let go as well, jerking back as the missile aimed at him hit his arms. Although a little concerned that he was about to be taken out of the frying pan and into the fire, Kyriel took the chance to scramble away from the bullies. The nearest hiding spot was under a flight of stairs leading up to the door of the nearest building, so he took shelter there. This time he did not bother to look back to see if anyone was chasing him until he got under the protection of the wooden steps.

"Hey, let go of me, you moron!" Grylle screeched, clawing at the other boy viciously as he was grabbed by his dirty-blond hair. Although it took a moment for the Elf to get his bearings, Dreit had soon joined the struggle, trying to pull the Drow off of his leader.

"Get off of him, you black scum! Can't you see we were in the middle of something?" Dreit snarled as he tugged the Drow's arm. The final boy was still on the ground, now doubly injured though he was now attempting to crawl away.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 01:46 AM

He was hoping for more of an initial shock but since he'd given them enough time to fight back he now had one trying to fight back despite the pain to his follicles. And other yanking at his arm with the occasional jab from his elbow. Thankfully they were being idiots, plus the third wasn't joining in either. So much for being magic students. He pushed the leader down and whirled about on the elf dragging at his arms. This allowed Bryn to break free and all the while using his momentum he created what one could call a monster dirt devil. It didn't have that much push but it threw the dirt in the air and that's what he wanted.

Bryn quickly sent a flurry of weak jabs at that same elf. Hoping of course he was was still being dumb and didn't throw up a shield. For good measure though he put a little electricity behind the jabs to penetrate through or stun his target. If he went down that left the leader for him to take care of. Only he'd have to do with hardly any more aid of his magic.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 02:09 AM

Falling hard against the ground, Grylle let out a deep yelp. Immediately, of course, he tried to get up, but he was still a bit in shock from the magic attack.

Dreit threw his arms up over his face to protect himself from the dirt, causing him to lose his focus on his enemy for a moment. He had just enough time to form a barrier before the jabs started, though he soon saw that he was going to need something stronger if he wanted to protect himself. Not seeing the time for it, he bolted off back the way they came. The third one, Irfen, was already galloping away.

"Get away from me, you cretin!" Grylle yelled at the Drow, not sounding quite so tough or mean anymore. Trying not to hesitate too much, he followed after the other two.

From his spot under the stairs, Kyriel watched the whole fight. Once the three ran off he was relieved, though he soon realized that he was indeed in the fire now. How could he get away from the Drow now? If the boy could do all of that to them, Kyriel did not want to even imagine what he would do to him. He figured that he could try to make himself invisible through magic and make a run for it, but he was not very confident in his skills; it was likely that he would not be able to hold it for that long.

Not knowing what else to do, Kyriel decided to just stay put and hope that he forgot about him. It was unlikely, but it was his best option that he could see.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 02:18 AM

"Yeah that's right run you Pansies!" Bryn didn't even say it with any humor. He was serious, and speaking of... "Hey you can come out now." His voice still serious but it was softer- somewhat protective. Turing around the drow searched for the one he just rescued and settled straight ahead where the stairs were.

"Gee, thanks sir for saving my ass." he said mocking a proper response for his saving Kyriel from trouble. Even if the poor...fellow still feared him. Something the beautiful must've known manners.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 02:36 AM

Shrinking back against the building as far as he could, Kyriel tried not to make any noise, move, or breathe. It was obvious that the Drow knew that he was still there, but Kyriel seriously disliked the idea of surrendering himself over to his foe.

Kyriel just felt annoyed at his demand for thanks. The way it was said rather discouraged him from doing it. He now especially felt that he should run, but he still did not really want to. Might as well let the guy find him rather than use up energy to try running. Folding his arms over his chest, he let out a sigh. This was stupid. He hated being here. Why could he not just stay at home and learn from his parents...?

More tears were starting to form, which Kyriel furiously tried to wipe away. It was bad enough that the Drow was going to find him, he should not allow him the pleasure of laughing at his tears.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 02:48 AM

In response all he got was tears. Great what happen to that insane bravery earlier standing up to him? All Bryn was getting right now was a big baby. It grated his nerves and he let out an audible growl.

"Fine cry you baby. I'll let you get over your dilemma. But don't expect me to help you again if I'm going to get tears again." he sighed like a mother exasperated with her child. Kyriel somehow hit a chord within Xul'Bryn. He pitted the elf and genuinely wanted to help. That however was for the weak. Perhaps given the right motivation this elf would be useful to him. It was highly doubtful at the point but he would not concede he was letting emotion sway him.

"Look you may not get it but I thought there was something about you." Now Bryn was at the stairs looking directly at him. His face still held that dangerous look he was so accustomed to wearing. Only it was softer that usual. The drow really was trying hard to be compassionate to get that weepy flower to finally tell him at least one thing he needed to find him again.

"You got a name?"

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 04:55 AM

This was no good. All he was doing was getting himself more things to insult about himself. As if he needed more of those...

"I didn't ask for your help!" Kyriel shot back, not sure how else to respond. He felt sort of bad for not thanking him now, though it was too late now. He refused to make a fool of himself any further. Plus, just because this Drow decided to help him did not in any way mean that Kyriel was going to like Drows now, even just a little. Though he had not had many dealings with the creatures in the past, the few times he had met Drows had not been pleasant experiences.

"Of course there's something about me." Kyriel replied, barely able to keep his voice from breaking. "I look like a girl. That's it." He said, voice slowly lowering. It truly was the only thing he could think of when it came to his identity. Only when he was around his parents did he think there was anything else to him than that.

"Kyriel." He said quietly, resting his chin on his knees and trying to keep his eyes averted away from the Drow. Although he was nowhere close to being ready to call him a friend to any degree, he would at least accept this much. "At least now you know what name to use when you insult me, hm?" He said dryly, still refusing to look at the boy. It looked like this year was going to be even worse than last year. Kyriel hoped that the next break would be soon.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 02:14 PM

Bryn's eyes flared. He had enough with this loser. The path he followed did nothing for him. Bryn could see how the elf felt like disappearing away from all the problems. If he really wanted that he should be learning how! Getting stronger! "Stop wallowing in your self-pity then you girl" he said stressing the word.

"The world I had lived in all my life you would be killed and discarded even by the teachers themselves, there is no place for weaklings. Look around you. There are challenges all around and you shrink and let them trample you! You should be fighting back." Bryn took a step forward. "But. You're. Weak." he said sending his heel towards that pitiful thing's face.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 02:37 PM

"Shut up!" Kyriel whined in response, trying to cover his pointed ears with his graceful palms. He wanted so much to be able to move on, but he honestly did not think it was possible. He had no friends to distract him or tell him that his looks did not matter, he had no particular hobby to take up his time, nothing at all that he could think of. This stupid Drow had not a clue what he was talking about. He did not, for sure, know Kyriel enough to make such a judgment. In Kyriel's eyes, he was just trying to be a bully to make himself feel significant.

"But I don't live there so it doesn't matter!" Kyriel hissed, finally looking up to glare at the bigger boy. His gaze came up just in time to see the foot come flying at him.

Although it was just short of a direct hit, Kyriel still felt the edge of the boot scrape his cheek. His head jerked to the side a bit, more from his own flinching than from the actual force.

The unstoppable force of tears welling up behind his eyes came upon him again, but Kyriel was not dwelling on his looks anymore. Now it was just rage, an anger more powerful than he had ever felt in his life filling him up. It was actually rather painful, the hate filling his core; he felt like he might burst. The thing was that he was taking not only his anger against the Drow, but also all the anger he had held back over the years from all of the bullying and poking and prodding that he had gone through.

Without saying a word, Kyriel raised his eyes again, taking a very short moment to give the boy a scary scowl before letting it all out. He had abandoned all thought and logic by this point, just doing what his instincts told him to. He flung his arms into the air towards the dark-skinned creature, letting a vicious growl rip from his throat. A massive force left from his palms, sending a wave of energy strong enough to topple a large cow, though he was unaware of this fact. All he knew was that the angry feeling lessened to a somewhat more comfortable point, and he suddenly felt rather exhausted.

It took Kyriel a minute to realize it, but his eyes were closed. Opening them quickly, he scrambled to his feet, heart racing and lungs heaving. The rage was still there, and he was rather certain that he was not finished...

By this point Bryn stopped paying much attention to what the elf had to say. Once Kyriel started crying again he was just about to leave when the unexpected happen. An unbelievable force threw him off his feet and shot him into a nearby wall. For a few seconds his body lay crumbled underneath a crack wall. Byrn recovered though. Some things in his bag might've broke from the impact, and who knew the damage caused to him. Bryn was coughing up blood but he looked at Kyriel and smiled. "Now that's more like it!" he shouted excitedly all the while getting up to his feet.

He shrugged off his bag, but not before pulling out a small wand. Kyriel looked a little exhausted but so was he. The wand would help him cast magic using what little mana he had left. "Do you like it? Want more?" He stepped forward ushering his challenge.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 03:14 PM

Standing to the side of the stairs, Kyriel tried to keep himself somewhat under control. His father had always warned him to have good self-control, though he had always thought it was in a basic way. Now he realized that it was actually because of this. Never before had he felt so full of power and in touch with the talented wizard in him. The urge to just let it all out and see what he could do was tempting, but he knew that he had to keep his focus. Even if he could not stop the trembling running through his frame, at least he could keep his eye on the target.

Although Kyriel noticed the blood, he hardly gave a care. All he could see was that smirk, and all he could hear was the taunts. He just wanted to take it all out on this Xul'Bryn, even if it killed the Drow. At least if he did something so drastic as that, perhaps he would get sent home.

Throwing his right hand out like he was pitching a ball, Kyriel sent another burst of the anger toward the foe in the form of a bolt of fire. He had not even known that he could do that. He would have to tell his father about that in his next letter.

That was, of course, if Kyriel got the chance to write another letter. It just now occurred to him that perhaps he would be the one not walking away from this.

The thought came and went quickly though. It no longer mattered to Kyriel; he needed to get this out. If someone's life ended because of it, so be it.

Jurinjo 09-28-2010 03:31 PM

Kyriel's frame trembled under all that rage. He could see the pure hate in his eyes and wondered what spell the angry elf would choose. "Fireball" he said just before using the wand to deflect it up and allowing it to harmlessly dissipate in the air. He made it look easy. Bryn's way of fighting depended not on how much power he had but how to redirect an attack and subvert his enemies. But damn that kid could put power behind it. The ball of flame was compressed making it that deflection difficult- not that Bryn even showed this however.

"Drows teach to harness your rage to power your attacks, but you must not let it cloud your thoughts. You can't overpower me you're still too weak. But I see I was not wrong about your potential Kyriel." He tapped the wand thoughtfully on his lips like a teacher deciding what to do about his student. "Girly or not I respect you more than those three bullies. Good job." he congratulated him with a rare smile with no hint of amusement or ill-intentions. All good will. Bryn casted a quick flash spell and grabbed his things. Leaving Kyriel to his thoughts like any good mystical teacher.

((___jade___))> 09-28-2010 03:59 PM

The deflection of his attack was discouraging, but it only fueled Kyriel's rage. The more he thought about it, the more times he came to the conclusion that he was no match for the Drow and that he was wasting his time and energy. This battle was only going to end in Kyriel being killed or badly injured, from what he could see.

Kyriel's only thought on the Drow's words were that he did not care since he was not being taught by Drows, but he decided not to voice the thought. He was too close to hyperventilating to say much anyway.

Realizing that he was about to leave him, Kyriel dropped to the ground as his head told him to, sending the energy through the ground this time. He was just barely too late, though the ground still shook and and a crack shot across the dirt from his hands.

Letting out an irritated grunt as he watched the Drow leave, Kyriel felt the urge to follow. His mother's voice rang in his head though. Something about not being any better than the bullies if he bullied people back. He knew that he could not just go against what his mother said. It made sense, anyway.

The raw fury finally cooled off within Kyriel, which proved to be a more tiring experience than he had expected. Relief had been what he had expected, not this.

Crumpling into himself, Kyriel's knees hit the ground, though he hardly felt it. Arms hugging his stomach, he let out a soft moan. His bed was calling him from across the campus, but he had not figured out how he was going to get there. Now would be a good time to know how to magically teleport himself, though even if he knew how, he was probably too weak to perform a feat at such a distance anyway. Maybe if he just stayed there for a bit, he could muster up enough energy for the walk...

Unfortunately he didn't get all that far when a teacher stopped to interrogated him on the noise earlier. Admittedly a bloody drow covered in dust could make a person suspicious there was little point in lying. And he didn't lie once either because he knew that in the end he had done what he thought was right and surely they could agree. The principle accompanied this teacher and Bryn was swiftly taken to the "Detention Room" that negated magical powers. It was completely white and he was the only person in the whole room. Bryn stooped to the floor and ran though his mind everything that happened after his brief skirmish with Kyriel. Memorizing and analyzing it all like prisoner caught in enemy hands.

The Principal and Mr. Kash were amusingly polar opposites in appearances. The principal was a dark haired elf who had gained quite a few pounds in his years. If not for his ears he would have mistook him for a human whereas Kash was a human sporting elegant elvish features and blonde hair. It was hard to tell the principal's personality but for sure he held on tightly to his old elvish ways, including the feud between his kind and the drow. Kash left almost immediately after Bryn started talking. That compassion could be a mark of a good teacher. For the moment he wasn't convinced of that philosophy overworlder favored.

Meanwhile that teacher had wasted no time running to the scene where he caught the drow, Xul'Bryn he was told, had described a fight. The drow's nonchalant manner to his own injuries and possible harm to any of the students involve upset Mr. Kash. He pitied the student for the world he grew up in. Those stupid savages!

It wasn't long til he saw a small frame on the floor between some stairs and across from a fractured wall. Xul'Bryn had not been lying. "Are you okay?" Stupid question but there wasn't anything else he could think of saying as he tried to inspect Kyriel for injuries. Mr. Kash had not been his teacher but knew of the ridicule the student faced. He did worry about it ever escalating to physical encounters, hoping for every student that nothing like that happened in this school.

The whole time Kyriel knelt there, he mostly was hoping that nobody would come along and find him there like this. Above all else, he hoped that Grylle and his gang would stay away, though he got the feeling that they would after what had happened. In fact, there was even a good chance that they would be staying away from him completely in the near future. Of course, once they licked their wounds and the memory faded, they would be back again, but at least there was a possibility of a few days' vacation from it.

Blinking slowly, Kyriel tried to keep himself conscious, strongly resisting the tears that threatened to come again. He figured that someone would come along eventually, so he did not want to be crying again. Not only that, but crying made him tired, and that was what he was trying to get over. Rubbing his eyes just to make sure, Kyriel let out a soft sigh. The shaking was almost gone, and he was, though very slowly, starting to feel stronger. It would not be too much longer, he figured...

Looking up sharply as someone approached, he was somewhat ashamed to find that it was a teacher. Before the man could get too close, Kyriel pulled his hair into his face to try to cover it somewhat. Even if he was not crying now, he also did not want him to see that he had been crying earlier.

"I'm fine." Kyriel said, hardly thinking about the answer. It was different for him to take such a prideful approach, but he really did not want people to fuss over him anymore. He would live anyway, so it did not really count as a lie in his mind.

Jurinjo 09-29-2010 01:01 AM

"I'm glad" he replied not putting down the pride in the boy's voice. It was probably just him trying to be strong. "Can you walk? I must get you to the nurses- just to check and may sure. I can't believe you survive with that drow student."

((___jade___))> 09-29-2010 01:16 AM

Kyriel sighed heavily, pulling his right leg up to try standing on it. The thought of going to a nurse's office on the first day made him feel a little angry at himself, but he knew that it was a good idea. Although he did not, to his knowledge, have any bad physical wounds, he had never before used that much magic all at once. There was no telling what it had done to him.

Pushing against the ground with his foot, Kyriel found that he could stand, at least. His head was spinning horribly, but he was on his feet. The walking part he was unsure of. He tried taking a step, though it was rather wobbly. Although he hated to enlist the teacher's help so unexpectedly, he grabbed onto his shoulder for support. "I'm fine." He whispered again, though it was rather obvious that he was a long nap away from being truly "fine". He was only thinking about physical wounds though, and in that case, it was true.

>>Fast Forwarding to the next day because juju is a lazybutt >>

It was a good thing he was pretending to be a prisoner to an enemy because the stupid faculty had served him food at all the whole night or even this morning when he was brought to the principal. The entire night was spent locked up in that detention room. Now Bryn understood how those extremely astute to magic could go insane after losing their power. It wasn't so bad but if he had that hallowness long enough perhaps he'd have joined them. Sooner if they also refused to feed him continually. He hadn't eaten for 24 hours, which was not good when you consider the fighting he did yesterday. Bryn was weak and that made it easier for the principal to do what he wanted with him. The hour spent in that office he answered all of that arrogant elf's questions. Much of the time giving him repeated answers. Just hoping that the worms he beat yesterday would eventually come in or that flower Kyriel.

((___jade___))> 09-29-2010 01:56 AM

Kyriel's check-up with the nurse had gone smoothly, although Kyriel was half-asleep the whole time. Other than a few minor scratches and bruises from falling and fighting, a headache, and some major fatigue, he was fine. The nurse, being a magic healer of course, had simply given him some relief from his headache and sent him to bed. His roommate ended up being a quiet, little Elf who gave him no trouble at all, which he was relieved about.

The next morning at breakfast he was approached by the teacher who had found him before, who Kyriel gathered to be Mr. Kash, who told him that he would have to report to the principal. Although the young Elf was not looking forward to that, he knew that he had no choice. Plus, it was important that the staff know who the terrorists were and that they were punished appropriately.

As soon as Kyriel passed over the threshold into the office, he wished he could just turn and run back out of there. His eyes immediately caught sight of the Drow, his reason for distress. Mr. Kash was right behind him though, so he decided to just keep going as if nothing was wrong. The teacher directed him to a seat, thankfully one very far away from Xul'Bryn. The kind teacher gave them both a smile before heading back out, stepping back as he got to the door to let three more into the room. It made Kyriel almost wonder if they were trying to kill him, putting him in this room with all of the bullies all at once. Thankfully Grylle, Driet, and Irfen looked rather nervous about being there with the principal and the Drow, but that did not stop a few snickers and smirks from coming his way. Curling up on the chair, he tried to hide behind his hair again. He really hoped this would go quickly.

Jurinjo 10-03-2010 04:13 PM

The principal, despite Xul'bryn being weak right now, went out of his way with the seating chart to keep the drow away from harming the other four students. The old elf was being stupid, he thought, putting the three bullies so close to their prey. Their snickering was met with his infernal glare, which if they did not see they did feel it. The principal then gave his own glare at Bryn. But the drow just shrugged it off. More powerful or not the worst this elf could do to him was expel him. It didn't matter as much now that he was free from many things that tied him to the underworld he could go where he pleased.

No one spoke during these intense several seconds almost spanning into a minute. "I've heard the story from two of the three parties gathered here today. Unfortunately due to time constraints I could not hear Kyriel's independently." The principal gave the student an apologetic look.

((___jade___))> 10-03-2010 09:55 PM

Keeping his eyes on the floor, Kyriel hardly heard a word that was said. He was far too preoccupied with his own thoughts to give a care to the conversation. His nervousness was taking over and he could not help but feel like they were, all four, still staring at him, leering and sneering and all those other "eering" words.

Looking up as he heard his name, Kyriel squirmed a little. He surely did not mean that he had to tell him his side right then, did he? Not in front of them! That would be disastrous. It was bad enough that he had to be in the same room as those troublemakers, but to have to speak in front of them like that? He was doomed.

So, for now, Kyriel just remained silent. Of course, now they would just think he was stupid... there really was no winning.

Jurinjo 10-03-2010 10:35 PM

Bryn huffed "Let's not take too long I haven't eaten since yesterday morning ya know. I don't even care if you see me as a villain too! Just make sure you don't out the part where I kick their asses." he gave them a look which much to the principal's dismay couldn't find a way to control the Drow. In society Xul'Bryn was from maybe he could've physically discipline him but he did not have that luxury here. There were rules...but he could certainly see about getting a teacher, maybe even a tutor, to get him in line.

Gently he spoke to the timid student "Kyriel I only have so much time to offer you. If you don't speak now you won't get another chance. I'll make a decision without your imput and it's likely you'll remain a victim."

Glaring at the trio and sharing just small bit of it at Xul'bryn he also spoke less softly. "Bullying is not tolerated here however. There's enough evidence against you for me to take action." This was hopefully enough for the elf to finally speak up. He looked at his watch.

((___jade___))> 10-03-2010 10:53 PM

Glancing over at Xul'Bryn, Kyriel recoiled as if he thought the Drow would hit him from across the room. Mostly, Kyriel disliked how the dark Elf continued to make it sound like he was the good guy in all of this. Sure, he had saved him from the other three, but at least they tended to restrain themselves from using magic or causing too much bodily harm. Even if he had one good deed under his belt, he was no less a villain than the other three in Kyriel's mind.

"I was in a tree and he knocked me down. Using magic." Kyriel began hurriedly, hoping to get this all out in as few breaths as possible. He jerked his head to indicate that he was currently talking about Grylle, though he did not dare look over at the boy. The magic part he found important since there were campus restrictions, when not in appropriate classes, about using it. "I-I ran and they chased me until I ran into him." He nodded toward Bryn. That part seemed to hardly be part of the story to Kyriel, but he had done this a thousand times before and knew how valuable every piece of information was to people trying to help him. "I ran again and they found me again." Another nod toward the three boys. "They wrestled me to the ground but th-then the Drow fought them off with magic." He finally graduated from pronouns, but he felt no reason to use named. "I was going to go but then he started bullying me too so I got mad and... tried to hit him but h-he was too fast." It was not quite a lie to exclude the part about him using magic, though he felt that his usage was slightly more justified, being self-defense, in a way. If the principal asked, he was definitely not going to deny it. He had been punished before for things, so it was not too huge of a deal.

From their seats to the side of him, Kyriel could tell that Grylle and his gang were trying hard not to make comments or laugh about his occasional stuttering. Kyriel was mostly glad that he had not known them when he was younger and the stuttering came with almost every sentence. At least now that he was older it was only when he was nervous or pressured.

Jurinjo 10-03-2010 11:04 PM

"Kyriel has good potential as I said before Mr. Principal." Xul'bryn spoke up not minding that he was just called a bully for trying to help him. "But to clarify I believe my taunting helped him see he's not weak b-boy who can let kids trample him." The drow spoke the second part fast before the principal got to silence him. "I heard your part of the story already Xul'bryn. And we've had our debate. Your punishment will more harsh because you are still by all means a bully."

The principal dismissed the 3 boys telling them to pack their things. They were not expelled but being suspended back to their families for awhile. Maybe the shame they'd bring with them home would teach them a lesson.

Once the drow left he said a few words to Kyriel. "Thank you for being brave there. We'll be keeping an eye on the drow. Could you be specific about what he did to bully you?" He remained nice to the sensitive boy. But even in defense Kyriel had damaged campus property to which the appropriate discipline would be taken.

((___jade___))> 10-03-2010 11:29 PM

Kyriel crossed his arms over his chest, hugging himself tightly as he waited. He was not really sure what to think about Xul'Bryn's comments. They did not change his view on the Drow much, though he thought it was maybe supposed to be some kind of compliment. He had been told that he had potential for a long time now, so it hardly meant a thing to him.

The group of boys left in a huff--or at least Grylle did. The Elf looked disappointed and the other human looked sulky. Kyriel felt himself immediately relax when they left though. Once Bryn left, he relaxed even further. The principal being there still made him feel slightly uneasy, but at least now he could focus on the conversation better.

"Just the usual stuff, mostly..." Kyriel said softly, almost too softly to hear from across the room. He did not bother to go into specifics; the principal had dealt with this before, not that it would take anyone but a few seconds to figure it out even without the past experience. "I think he wanted me to fight him. He said it was good when I tried to." He sighed lightly, keeping his eyes down at the floor. Now was the part when he got his punishment, he supposed. Hopefully this would go fast.

Jurinjo 10-03-2010 11:37 PM

The principal smiled lightly. Kyriel was no fool, he knew there was something in store for him too otherwise he wouldn't be so reluctant to share anything with him. "So it is true what Xul'bryn said? You launched him into a wall?"

((___jade___))> 10-04-2010 12:59 AM

The question was a little unexpected, though Kyriel was glad that the mood was kept light. He could not help the very small, shy smile that crept over his face. "Yeah, I guess..." He shrugged his thin shoulders, ducking his head into it as if he thought he was a turtle. Of course, maybe he was just addressing the fact that there was damage done to the wall. That thought helped him to wipe the smile away. He had not looked since his mind had been on other things. Hopefully it was little enough damage that he would just be punished with detention or something. Even if they were powerful magic users, his parents had been out-of-commission for quite some time and had not been well in the money in recent years with their care for him. They had always been able to get by, living rather comfortable lives which was easy for some Elves in the woods, though Kyriel did not want to take from what little they had. His parents had been doing more jobs now that he was away at school, so things were looking up in that respect, not that his family had ever viewed it as a big problem. They did not even really need money since they lived in the forest.

Jurinjo 10-04-2010 01:09 AM

"The drow is insane I tell you." he shook his head, "He actually sounded happy to be thrown into a wall and bleeding internally. But he's apparently good at healing up. The wall however is still a problem. Mainly because it was not just a wall but part of a building. We're having it taken care of but this is destruction of school property! Considering the circumstance you were in at the time though it will be more mild. You, Kyriel, will be cleaning the bathrooms and attending private sessions with our combat specialist Sir Jun." Instructor Jun was a human with little potential is true magic but was exceptionally good at blending physical combat with magic creating a whole new class of fighters. He was viewed upon as a knight, however in the classroom the shining armor and wonderful smile tended to be shut away in favor of hard drilling. It would serve to both punish the elf and to strengthen him. Maybe grow a little more confident as the teacher pushed the boundaries of what he could do.

((hope forcing an instructor on you is ok we needn't focus on him. I couldn't resist putting "Sir Jun" though lol))
