Food Network!
I thought I escaped it when I moved away from my dad, but I ended up sharing a quad with a foodie in college so it was food network all day anyway. I fully blame my college buddy for getting me attached to it. It's my default channel now.
I'm currently watching "Chopped" as per usual at this time of night. Back at college it was "Iron Chef America" when I wasn't doing homework or game tubing. Any other food network fans out there, or fans of cooking shows in general? What do you watch? |
I love food network! I watch it all most every day.
|
I'm getting a little annoyed that it seems to be overrun with food reality shows now rather than actual cooking shows, or maybe the style of cooking shows have just changed, but I still watch it anyway. I don't cook much myself, but I might! ;)
|
The cooking Shows are on from 9 am to 2 pm now at least on EST.
|
Ah. I'm usually not awake for most of those hours. Too much of a night owl.
|
Love it as well. Chopped is a definite favorite, but Cutthroat Kitchen isn't bad either.
|
A lot of the Cooking shows are mostly on when Tiva mentioned, and on their sister channel The Cooking Channel has a bunch of cooking shows.
Food Network on the week days will have cooking shows on till I think 6pm EST, weekends varies but it's usually the 9a-2pm slot. |
Ah. I tend not to watch TV often at that time, or if I do I'm watching Animal Planet. It seems every time I do check Food Network, I get Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and I'm not a fan of that show.
|
I watch Food Network literally everyday. I think it's because I wanted for such a long time to be a chef... still do to this day. My all time favorite show was always Good Eats. XD
|
I used to watch that with my dad. As silly as the show could be at times, it really did teach you some good stuff. I still use the term "unitasker" when talking about kitchen appliances. ;)
|
My fiancé and I love Good Eats, we used to watch it every night together when he'd spend evenings with me.
I miss watching that show more often. I don't know if there's a show I like watching now since I really don't watch tv that often and when I do watch the Food channel.. Robert Irvine is on. |
I kinda like the new food truck things going on. I've got an app for my phone now that tells you which food trucks are in the city and where. I want to try a Japadog.
I watch Anthony Bordain now and then. |
I treat it as I treat any other TV.
If it's on the main TV, and interesting, then I'll watch it. If not, then no I don't. Use to be that I would watch all day so I could learn things to improve my own recipes, but I have the internet for that now. |
Yeah, if I'm actually going to cook I look up stuff online. I tend to look up Alton Brown recipes (there he is again!) when I can, since I've found them easy and reliable. He has a good chocolate sauce that is really easy to make, and a good broccoli salad that I made one night when I had to cook.
I used to watch Chef at Home with Michael Smith, because it was easy cooking with stuff that a college student might actually have. |
I once met Alton Brown. He wasn't nearly as goofy in person as I expected, he was a lot more serious actually, but I still found him fascinating to watch. I got him to sign a cook book and took a picture with him. I had a total fan girl moment. XD
|
Oh! I learn'd so much from his show! : 0
|
I'm not a big fan of Robert Irvine... He's all up in people's business trying to play Chef Dr. Phil. XD I do like the Food Truck Road Race though. It has it's interesting moments.
I've learned a lot from watching Chopped about food combinations. It seems weird but all of their crazy improvisations has helped me improve my cooking and try things I normally would not. |
My niece spotted Duff (Ace of Cakes) at the airport and got an autograph from him.
I liked watching Food Network Challenge when it was on. Now it's shows like Halloween wars and what not and I'm not as keen on those. They seem to focus more on surprises than on what people can do with a cake or whatnot in the time frame. Not a big fan of Irvine either, or Bobby Flay. My roommate liked Flay though. I like Alton Brown and name I can't think of right now...did The Surreal Gourmet...now does I think Glutton for Punishment. |
That's so awesome. I love Duff. He's a goofball and I love that about him.
It's true, those shows aren't the greatest for talent judging at times. :/ Side note, I love your current avi. So jealous of the beautiful Egyptian inspired look. It's based more off the Greek sphinx though right? |
I like to whach it when I can. It is very interesting i get idea how to make new dish with my mom.

Any shows you like in particular, Greenwood? |
Very neat. It looks super good. :D Usually the wings are included in the Greek mythology and the torso and head is of a female whereas in Egyptian mythology the sphinx is mainly portrayed as male.
That's really sweet. What kind of dishes do you and your mom cook? |
A lot of sphinxes probably showed up male because the Pharaohs were fond of portraying themselves as such, standing on the bodies of their enemies!
|
Food network makes me so hungry all the time, and I never seem to get over my craving for some really good fried chicken. We have KFC but the chicken is from those ill-treated places and is unhealthy...I have to make my own with grain-fed chicken soon. the craving: it won't go away.
