Howdy

Hey there, my name's Liethell. I've been on forums before, but nothing quite like this one, so I'll be busy trying to figure out how everything works.

Hello! Welcome to Trisphee!
Let me know if you have any questions alright?

Liethell 12-06-2013 10:32 PM

Hi Poggio! I might have a few later on, so don't be surprised if I take you up on that offer sometime here.

Poggio 12-06-2013 10:46 PM

xD That will be fine. I tend to float around the Ether.
-wiggles around Liet- So tell me about yourself, what brings you to our lovely forum?

Liethell 12-06-2013 11:58 PM

Heh, funny story actually. I attended a creative writing club meeting and was told of an rp in development here, and I figured this place seemed neat enough to sign up, so I did. I've been rping since I was a wee one, but I don't quite grasp the rps and canon of Trisphee. There's a lot to absorb. *wiggles in return~*

Poggio 12-07-2013 12:19 AM

XD From that little story I possibly have a feeling as to who directed you here. What types of ideas do you like to write/rp?

Liethell 12-07-2013 12:59 AM

Heheheh, you think so? I can't recognize anyone from the group here. :C

I rp all kinds of things, really. I started out with freeform RP's on IM's, and they were usually romance and slice of life. Recently, I've turned to modern fantasy settings. I also do tabletop roleplaying, which can be a whole different ballpark, but you might see elements of it in my freeform rps. I'm currently pretty enamored with the idea of humans with the ability to use magic. One of my favourite settings focuses on magical creatures called 'demons' and humans in a modern setting, with both groups trying to overcome prejudices about the other. I usually rp with my oldest character, Liethell--hence the name C:

Poggio 12-07-2013 01:14 AM

It was an idea that another user mentioned a while back therefore I thought you were part of their clique.

I have not table top rped. My skills are usually forum based and since a lot of my characters start out sueish and generic leaving room to grow I am not sure how well I would do XD. The way you describe humans with powers makes me think of X-men and the internal struggles they go through. I must say I haven’t encountered an rp where that is the main strife. Most people make some huge baddie to justify having the powers. What is Liethell like and how did you come up with the name?

Liethell 12-07-2013 01:28 AM

I'm not sure if I am or not, I only just met most of them. I don't like being in cliques though :P

Liethell is an interesting character, I like to think. His name comes from a corruption of the word Lethe, one of the five rivers of Hades, and known as the river of unmindfullness or forgetting. It's also a play on the word lethal, since that is one of the ways to pronounce it. It sort of means a lot because, at his conception, he was a forgetful, ditzy, and completely harmless character. In his more mature form now, he only pretends to be these things. He is a human with powers that come from a demon, so he's a bit of an outlier in both human and demon societies. I like to describe him as ornery and outrageous, though he hides his talents.

I wouldn't be too quick to label your characters as sue-ish, since Liet actually started out much the same way! five or six years of rp'ing him and he's become a very well rounded character, I would say. I think it just takes a lot of practice and many good, patient partners.

Poggio 12-07-2013 01:41 AM

Daw XD but some times they can be fun? Its nice having a group of people with like interest as long as they aren’t mean about it.

XD I can say that, I have well rounded characters but like your Liethell they have taken years to develop. It is easier for me to start with something generic and I have to say it doesn’t help that I like pretty. So I tend to make them aesthetically pleasing before I rough’um up. I like drama and soap opera so I have a tendency to develop overly complicated past for them though recently I have toned it down. I realize it doesn’t take much to give a person a complex. I promise once upon a time I read a how to book on writing so I know a little bit more then I am letting on. Its just easier some times when I want to shoot the breeze to make a stock ya know xD?

What are his powers and how did he get tied to the demon? If he was in hell did he die or was he a demon himself?

Liethell 12-07-2013 11:29 AM

It can be fun! The only thing I truly don't like is competitiveness inside a clique and how closed off some cliques are. I tend to be too easygoing for clique drama :,D Other than that, it can be nice having a pack to run around with.

I think that method of making characters has a lot of benefits to it. I've found that the most interesting characters start off as basic stock characters and turn into something extraordinary by the end of an rp. Your characters must be pretty interesting!

Liet entered into a sort of contract with an existing demon. It's a complicated sort of thing with many upsides and downsides. He and his demon partner live much longer now, but if one dies, so does the other. They also share from the same energy reserves. They also have to keep a close emotional bond with one another, because the closer they are, the more their power is amplified.

I should probably say, the world Liet came from isn't all my design. It used to be he came from an rp group on deviantart, but I've since split off from them. His history and development was too intertwined with the group's setting, so I wound up keeping it.

Poggio 12-07-2013 06:41 PM

Some of my best characters come from that. It’s a shame because by all rights I shouldn’t be able to keep them without the world but I do. My friend and I made some of the best characters ever just by being trolls to this girl unintentionally. As a matter of fact that tends to happen more often than we would like.

XD do you mind me asking questions? Because I am curious why he needed the demon in the first place.

Liethell 12-07-2013 07:15 PM

I wish I didn't have to keep the world, since it isn't my idea, but it's such an intricate part of who Liet is, I wind up having to keep it. I try to make up for it my giving everyone a disclaimer :,D

Go ahead and ask away! It's not easy to explain him away in one post, and I'm actually quite flattered you care about him. He's kind of my baby. >U>''

Originally, Liet joined a new military program that was forming, one of the very first to experiment in 'Bonding', which is what making a sort of contract with demons is called. He joined at nineteen and was bonded upon entry. He was forced to change who he was bonded with a few times, but he can't ever un-bond without immediately dying. He must remain bonded. (originally, there was no such thing as re-bonding. it simply couldn't happen. due to the group losing and gaining new members during it's conception, the group owners had to write a way to allow new members in and old ones to have partners to work with, so rebonding became a thing.)

At the time, he was young, naive, and had no direction in his life, and DAMMED, the name of the group, gave him direction. He's stayed bonded ever since because it allows him to feel his life has a purpose and meaning.

Poggio 12-07-2013 07:32 PM

There isn’t a way to make the world yours? Or try him in a different world?

He didn’t have an religious background/knowledge that would have led him to question the governments motives as to the use of demons?

I am a fan of paranormal fiction xD. I tend to eat it up. Plus he is interesting.\Its curious why the government would sink to this resort to power up individuals. And what does he do with his powers?

Liethell 12-07-2013 08:34 PM

I did make it mine, a little. The program he came from was replaced, and I'm still trying to experiment with ways to fix up the demon bonding thing. As far as I know though, it's the core of who he is, so changing it is a little tough..

He did have a religious background! His step mother was very religious following a her time in the military. Liethell is flamboyantly gay and something of a drag queen. He was almost kicked out at one point, and the only reason he was let back into the household was because he wasn't quite 18 yet, so there was a lot of pressure to pick something and run with it the moment he got it. I admit he wasn't mature enough to truly question the government motives behind bonding.

I assume the government in the rp at that time saw great potential, since bonded humans are essentially like superheros with extremely long lives. In a way. In my world though, the original program does not exist, but another one sprung up in it's place and improved upon all the things the old program failed to do.

Liethell is bonded to what's considered a holy demon, which is just a demon that uses light and healing powers. He usually heals with it, but there's quite a lot he can do in the way of solidifying light. He was blinded at some point in his history, so he also uses his sensitivity to light to see! Instead of light waves hitting his eyes, which no longer work, he focuses on feeling light waves as they hit his skin. It's not something he can do for long periods of time, and there are a lot of other limits on his powers too, so he's not as powerful as I make him out to be. :P

Poggio 12-07-2013 09:48 PM

Oh reading that made me giggle. It completely contradicted the mental image I had of him based on the past couple of post I read. This makes me like him a bit more. Now I would like to know how he interacts with the demon, especially since it is one with holy powers. Did he have a family relationship? What happened to his mother?

Also I do not know much about the society but it surprises me that they have prejudices against a gay individual when they allow the government to seek power from an unholy source.

Liethell 12-07-2013 10:11 PM

He is a bit outrageous. Drag shows and theatre are his natural habitats. I'd also like to point out that his step mother was the only one in his household who didn't know precisely where Liet went. She was told he joined the military. His father later divorced her when she found out what happened. Perhaps it's a bit silly, but I've gone so far as to develop Liet's parents too. His biological father, biological mother, and step-mother are all pretty well rounded individuals. I suppose that was by accident, heh...

His father wasn't there for him when he was young, but a freak accident, a sudden divorce, and immigrating to America from Italy when Liet was four left him as a doting father, if a sometimes irresponsible one. He mostly married Liet's step mother for citizenship, but he courted her as if he really did love her. They had a rocky marriage, and this left Liet feeling alienated from his step mother, but he loved his father with all his heart. His birth mother spent her life studying and being an activist, and she met Liet all of twice in his adulthood.

Liet had several partners over his lifetime. He never got to know his first partner, as he ran from the program soon after Liet bonded. (It sounds sort of like a shaky excuse, but I joined to replace someone, and my partner rp'er quit the group soon after I joined, so I got a replacement too.) After that came Ambrose, which was the demon he spent most of his life so far bonded to. They fought a lot in the beginning, but after a series of heart to hearts and particularly grumpy fights, they began to understand one another. Ambrose and Liethell could've been said to share the same soul for how close they were. They were seperated, and Liethell did not know where Ambrose was for a very long time. Distance and non-communication made them both grow weak. Ambrose was suspected to be held captive somewhere, most likely by an anti-demon lab. (Ambrose's rper still plays in DAMMED the last I checked, but I had left the group at about the same time Liet and Ambrose split. the lab I'm talking about is what the rp group on dA turned into, the last I poked my head in.), so Liet had to face rebonding one more time--which meant in bonding to someone else, he killed his partner, Ambrose. He's still recovering from that one. He's currently taking it out on his newest partner, Ganymeade. (which is another character I rp.)
