Times of Change

So right now, I'm gearing up to move almost 400 miles south in the next week to week and a half. I'm scared out of my mind.

I wish I had more money for everything I need to do in order to at least survive somewhat comfortably.

Espy 06-24-2014 10:33 AM

That sounds familiar. Bleh.

Scared about leaving everything behind, or scared about the place you're moving to?

Den 06-29-2014 09:59 PM

Bit of column A, bit of column B. Change is never easy for me. I have an extremely difficult time dealing with change as it is.

Espy 06-29-2014 11:06 PM

Yeah, same. Moved across the country for college.

Hope everything works out, yeah?

Tiva 06-29-2014 11:56 PM

Well if you are willing to post where you are moving to you may find that some Trisphites live near there. Makes the changes a bit easier knowing you have a welcoming crew.

Coda 06-30-2014 12:19 PM

I know what you mean. I moved 1800 miles (yes, that's not a typo) two years ago.

Lawtan 06-30-2014 04:05 PM

Whereto, if I may ask? (Southerner - Howdy y'all! xD)

I do know what you mean. Going 600+ miles north from country to city was a bit overmuch for me.

Den 06-30-2014 10:07 PM

I'm moving to the Kansas City, Kansas area. I'll be leaving Omaha, Nebraska, around mid-morning, and will have time to kill until about 4 PM, so if there are any Trisphites in the area, I'd love to at least hang out for a bit and learn about places to go in the city.

ETA: I am more than willing to share my phone number over private message, for the peeps who live in the area.

Lawtan 06-30-2014 10:25 PM

Ahh...I am a good deal east of you. Sowwy ;_;

Den 06-30-2014 10:53 PM

I'm not against a road trip once things settle down, and I've got a steady income again.

From Arkansas to Los Angeles.

Espy 07-01-2014 04:14 PM

I have you all beat :P 2200 miles from home to college.

Lawtan 07-01-2014 04:26 PM

...I wasn't trying to make a competition out of it. :P

...Anywho, Tell us about it when you get there, Autobot :D

Den 07-01-2014 06:15 PM

Well, for right now, I have a place to stay for the next three days. and it turns out i was wrong about the mileage. it was closer to 200 miles, not 400. Took about 4 hours though.

Espy 07-01-2014 10:06 PM

Wait, by plane, or car...?

Tiva 07-01-2014 10:25 PM

Probaby car…. but hey I hope you find a place!

Den 07-02-2014 08:41 AM

Yeah, by car. I'm too broke to afford a plane ticket anywhere right now.

Ugh. The place I'm staying, I have to be indoors by 4pm each day.

Lucid: 07-02-2014 08:24 PM

Woah, that's super weird. Why is that? I've heard of a 12am or even 11pm building curfew, but those were campus dorms and reasonably nighttime hours. D:

Den 07-03-2014 09:07 AM

It's not so much that I HAVE TO, HAVE TO be indoors by 4, I just have to check in and absolutely have to be in where I am by 7PM... I'm looking for transitional housing. I can't wear 90% of my jewelry because they'd kick me out. (Just to put it in perspective: They're Fundamental Baptists. I'm a Polytheistic Pagan. Most of my jewelry is necklaces with pagan pendants and the like. I can't even wear my starsign pendant because they'd toss me out for it).

Lawtan 07-03-2014 08:29 PM

*Glomphs Den in Animistic happiness*
Sorry :(

We did have a Pagan Pub, but it died before I came here...

I don't really have a solution, there. Like at home for me it's a "their house, their rules" thing somewhat...unless it's technically a business...then I am uncertain on the legal rights.

Feel free to rant my ear off if you need to...

Aenith 07-05-2014 12:19 AM

I know the feeling. :/ I've moved more times in my lifetime than anyone should ever have to. It's nice to be finally be staying in the same place for once. Best of luck to you!

Den 07-08-2014 02:00 PM

I'm about ready to put a link in my signature for things and services I'm selling... I should probably do that on the other forums I frequent, just to be safe...

clealuira 07-20-2014 02:12 PM

Change should be exciting not scary! I moved from a little island to the netherlands 12 years ago. Was the best thing I ever did. Was great fun packing up, leaving my job and family to go live with my now husband. Fun learning a new language too. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Den 08-19-2014 11:51 PM

*sigh* As of 3:15 PM today, I no longer have a job. I was fired due to my attendance. Most of the times when I was late, it was due to things related to the car, all of which were outside of my control. this last time, it was due to me not having the equipment I needed to do my job. I'm taking the rest of today to mope and generally be a lump on a log and not do a thing. Tomorrow, I start the job hunt with more vigor.

Espy 08-20-2014 02:38 PM

I, uh...that's a decent attitude to go about doing things. I tend to do a lot more of the moping.

Den 08-20-2014 05:44 PM

There's only so I can mope before I have to do something or starve... so I figure it's better if I get going on trying to find a new job asap, before I run out of both gas and food.

Lawtan 08-21-2014 01:13 PM

That is reasonable. I am sorry it happened...

Den 08-21-2014 10:47 PM

I'd been stubbornly ignoring the signs that I should've quit. First was my computer not working the way it should've the entire time I was in training (I was the only one who had problems), second was the car running out of gas one day, the third was my badge going missing one day, only to turn up the next day in a spot I'd already looked, fourth was the tire blowing out less than a mile from work...

Lawtan 08-23-2014 01:21 PM

Yeah...seems like several things broke at once.

Den 08-23-2014 05:04 PM

I guess I just wasn't meant to work at that company.
