We are the Crystal Gems! [Group Rp]
This is the world of Steven Universe, all is as it would be save for in this Alternate Universe, the crystal gems have been able to cure corrupted gems and they return as who they were before. Gems that have been cured do not remember being a monster and are not aware of it for it might cause a relaspe and change them back. Only a handful of Gems have been cured and are set all over the world to help them with other corrupted gems and hoping to collect said gems and help them as well. This is Beach City our main setting for this AU. Beach City was awfully quiet for the rambunctious town and its people who ususally loud and lively. All was quiet save for a distress signal that was being sent out:
"This is Garnet of the Crystal Gems in the Beach city sector, Beach City is in trouble, and unfortunately Pearl, Amethyst, and myself are-" "OH! And me too! Don't forget Steven!" "Heh, yes I didn't forget you Steven. The four of us are awfully busy with a big mission that requires us to leave Beach City for the moment. We need any able bodied Gems that are near by to investigate the trouble and take care of it." Moonstone was already in the city when she got the distress signal. She decided to investigate the down town area to ensure the trouble was not here. She walked around an noticed the disturbing lack of citizens in town. She looked in all the stores and every nook and cranny she could find, but no sign of any humans, anywhere. "Hmm How awfully perculiar..." |
Jade had been happily browsing the library recipe book section when the summons called to her.
"Oh! My goodness, it must be dire indeed! I'd best hurry to Beach City!" Biting her lip, she regretfully set down the half a dozen books she'd pcked to check out. Cupcakes could wait... kind of. Dashing out of the library's rear entrance, Jade took the form of a barnswallow and speedily flew back to Beach City. Once over the main street, she circled overhead until she spotted Moonstone's silver-blue form below. Folding her wings tight, she dove quickly down and then pulled out of the dive six feet above the pavement, giving her almost a whole foot of air to descend out of as she retook her human form. "Hey, what seems to be the problem? I don't see anything going on, really," she asked with cheerful confusion. |
Agate was just entering the town, having been traveling around a lot when she hears the summons. Picking up the pace she dashes through the town, glancing around and noticing the lack of people walking around doing any kinds of shopping. She doesn't even see anyone entering or leaving the grocery store further down the street. Ahead she spots Jade and Moonstone.
"Something is definitely wrong, where are all the shoppers? No on is entering or leaving any of the stores, not even a grocery store." She continues trying to look around, she gems glowing as she's on the alert in case they get attacked. |
Moonstone greeted Jade and Agate as soon as they arrive.
"There are no traces of any humans anywhere. I've checked all the stores and all the houses. Nothing." Moonstone also looked around until she found something. What is this? She stuck her finger into the strange substance on the ground. "It's slime...but from where?" |
Leaning over Moonstone's hand, Jade sniffed the goop.
"Hm, doesn't smell familiar. Maybe... oh no, huh uh, nope, not gonna say it, not even gonna think it,"she said, backing away a step or two. She looked around at the mostly empty streets, taking in the apparent absence of citizens, then looked back worriedly at the slime. Nope, she thought, not even thinking that thought. (Soylent green is people! SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!!!) |
Confused, Agate takes a closer look at the slime that Moonstone found, then looked back up at Jade because of her reaction. Looking between the two of them Agate begins to worry.
"Jade, you seem to have an idea as to what this might be. Is it dangerous? Does it possibly have something to do with the people disappearing? |
"It was just a silly idea, jumping to conclusions, something I'm really good at. Or, bad at. Heheheh."
Jade's pale green cheeks turned bright pink with her embarrassment. Hopefully she hadn't royally flubbed up her first mission before she'd even begun to investigate. "No, okay, maybe it's like, snail trail? Like, a giant snail is loose or something?" she suggested helpfully, trying very hard not to suggest that the goo was the people. (Whoops, sorry, should have waited for Moonstone!) |
Moonstone examined the slime carefully and then looked on where a trail slightly formed. She hummed with curiousity. And listened to the other two gems talking, perhaps it was a snail as Jade juggests? Seemes logical. The silver blue crystal gem stand and begins to walk with the trail.
"Alright then Gems if it is a snail monster it couldn't have gone far. Even if it is large it should be very slow and therefore easy to catch up to." |
Nodding in agreement Agate follows Moonstone as she begins going along the trail she found. Her gems glow as she summons her bow and arrows, notching the arrow on the string in case they get attacked by something.
"Do you want me to scout ahead? There's plenty of buildings to us as cover as I make my way forward, this way if I see something I can inform you two telepathically." |
"Oh, that's a great idea, um... Agate, right? Yeah, scouting ahead would help a lot."
Maybe everyone's just taking a ride on the back of a friendly giant snail, she told herself as they tracked the path of the slime trail. Certainly not slurped down a giant snail's throat, she regretted thinking. "So, Moonstone, how do you feel about cupcakes," she asked cheerfully, in a blatant attempt to get her mind off of awful possibilities. |
"Alright then Agate go up ahead and scout and report back immediately. Of you do find the creature do not engage it until Jade and myself are present. No Gem should take on any creature alone. Even as slow as a snail."
Moonstone stated as she lead the other two along the slime trail. "I don't eat human food much less sugary confectionaries. Let's try and focus on the mission at hand. I know it may be nerve wrecking fighting a monster if it's your first time but Agate and I are here to help you Jade. I won't leave you behind or stuck and neither will Agate." |
"Roger that, and if either of you need me, just think really hard of me and I'll pick up on it telepathically. I can only do this with gems unfortunately so keep that in mind." Moving quickly and stealthily Agate scouts ahead along the trail. In order to disturb as little as possible she steps carefully even around litter on the ground. When the trail turns around a building Agate silently scales the building to the top to get a good vantage point and to look down from above.
(I haven't watched this far into the show [I think I watched the first season because it was an hour long] so if it is an actual monster let me know, okay?) |
"Right, focus. I can do that,"Jade asserted with a nod, then began to apparently fiddle with her belly button. A flash of greenish light presaged the appearance of her throwing ring, which she held with both of her hands, then followed after Moonstone and Agate after the mystery trail.
"Although, snails? Yech. Just saying." |
"We're only assuming that it is a snail. It might be a slime monster altogether."
Moonstone stopped and though about Agate for a few moments to try and get into contact with her. 'Agate, what's your status?' ((And yes it's going to be a monster of course.)) |
"The trail leads around some buildings, but I haven't spotted anything yet. I'm going to cross over the roofs to get a better vantage point and hopefully spot something." As she's explaining she makes her way over to other roof tops, keeping her jumps as low as possible so that what ever it was she was following would be less likely to spot her. Last thing she and the rest of the team needed was for the monster to spot them first if there is a monster.
|
"Okay, well, I'm going to listen very hard for something that sounds slimy, like squelching or something, at least to check if it's close enough for us to hear." Jade hoped that the assumption would follow that it would also be able to hear them in that same event. Deciding that closing her eyes while walking would be a poor choice of senses to deprive, she held her breathe so as not to smell or taste so her hearing would heighten. When spots started dancing before her eyes, she let the breath out.
"Well, I didn't hear much besides the surf out on the beach," she announced. But, it could just be sitting still and not sliding around on its slimy appendage, whatever it might be. |
Moonstone nodded ans awaited a reply from Agate.
" Perhaps it has stopped, Agate then can see it better and report to us. Then we can come up with a plane of action. But we must be very careful. Until we know what it has done with the people we can't out rigth attack it." |
Nodding in understanding Agate continues her pursuit of whatever created that trail. Soon she comes to a huge pool of the slime on the ground, and a section where the trail thickens.
"I think it's slowed down some, I'm getting closer to whatever is making this trail." Snapping her head to the side she faces the direction she hears some strange noises, like trying to pull boots out of mud. "What's that sound?" Projecting how it sounds to her to Moonstone and Jade. |
Jade shrieked mentally, but then quickly clamped down on it.
"Sorry! Sorry, everyone, it's just, eurgh, slimy slugs and snails," she apologized to Agate and Moonstone. The wince on her face probably was nothing to the cringing she just accidentally mentally inflicted on them both. (Bet she was a slug or snail when she was corrupted.) "Better wait for us there, we'll catch up, don't want you facing this alone," she sent to Agate with a look to Moonstone for agreement. |
((let's talk about corruption gems in the ooc thread.))
Moonstone nodded. "Well this might be the easiest monster to fight. It only gets harder from here on out. Let's get moving to Agate's position." The bluish silver gem ran off and manuvered her way to Agate's position. She waited at the top for Jade incase she needed help. |
Agate waits patiently for the others to reach here, focusing on pinpointing the location where that sounds coming from, which seems to be from the other side of the building across the street from her. Seems to be some kind of pizza parlor with fish, something she just didn't understand since she didn't need to eat food. She cannot tell if the sound is from something large or small, though it sounds like it should have been something much larger than the building.
"Be careful, I don't know how big this thing is, but I have narrowed it down to some kind of business dealing with fish and pizza." |
"I just think they're pretty," Jade murmured, referring to the cupcakes she'd mentioned earlier. Squaring her shoulders, she followed after Moonstone, clambering up to Agate's vantage point with deceptive agility.
Getting a good look around, she stopped short and grimaced. "Fish? Pizza? Oh, that's just gross! I mean, I've heard of fish tacos, but pizza? Ew!" |
"Alright then here is the plan. Agate you will open fire in that facility with a smoke bomb arrow if you can conjure one up. With the smoke as a diversion we enter in and circle the creature. You and Jade will quickly survey the area and I will distract the creature. You take turns freeing the humans and assisting me in defeatng the creature. Agreed?"
|
"Understood, I'll count to three before firing to give you and Jade time to get ready." Her gems glow as she summons forth her bow, the arrow shimmering into existence with some kind of cone shaped head instead of the usually arrow head. Notching her bow she aims at the building, her target being the little glass window in the door.
"1...2...3!" Letting the arrow fly she immediately jumps down to the ground level to make her way inside with Moonstone and Jade. |
Having been clutching her chakram in her hands since splitting up, Jade was already set for conflict. Like a tubby flying squirrel, she leaped down, arms flung wide, and took a ready stance, prepared to dash in once the smoke was thick enough to conceal the three of them from whatever it was's vision... or... assuming it even had eyes, which is never really a total given. Sternly she admonished herself to focus and set her face in a grim expression of readiness.
|
The moment Agate let the arrow fly Moonstone hopped down and made a mad dash inside. During this moment she summoned her weapons. It started off as one schimitar that broke into two thinner ones. The creature was indeed a snail. It was almost as big as the room and spourted arms from it's shell. The humans that were captured were hung on the ceiling in slime pouches.
"Quick! Get them down Jade! Agate, with me shoot some arrows at the creature I got the arms. " Moonstones dashed forward and cut off the arms that were coming towards her and Agate and Jade as well. |
Making her way to the building and slipping inside, Agate fires arrow in rapid session at that body of the snail. Her arrows piercing right through the body and shell of the snail. Dodging to the side she allows Moonstone to come up and attack the arms reaching for her, firing another volley of arrows at the snail.
"I think we've got it pinned!" |
A brief flare of panic arose as she considered having to touch those slime filled bags. Shuddering briefly, Jade steeled herself and sprung into action. Rebounding off the snail's shell, she sprung towards the first of the sacks, severing its connecting stem from the ceiling and landing on a tabletop with the bundle that was already oozing slime from its cut end.
With a cautious slice of her chakram, she opened the sack and then sprang away as slime splashed everywhere. The person inside stirred faintly, so she helped him to an upright position and gave his back a gentle thumping. "Thattaboy, cough all that muck out of ya," she said encouragingly when the citizen began a whooping cough. Well, one down, about a half a dozen to go, she told herself, readying for the next spring. |
Moonstone was already close up and began to cut at the snail. It screeched in pain, as Moonstone was attacking it was doing something strange. It inhaled sharply, like if it was gathering mucus, which it was and spit it out at them. Moonstone, noticed this and shouted,
"Get down! it's gonna blow!" Moonstone ducked under a table as it spat out more slime and it was heading towards Jade actually. Damn! Moonstone ran from under the table to reach Jade before the slime ball did and tackled her before the slime hit them. It hit the wall behind them and burned at it with slight acidity. "Are you alright?" |
Slime ball? Slime? Ball? Sl-
Her mind running circles around this concept, Jade was unable to move and made a pretty easy target for Moonstone to tackle. She let go an oof and then shook her head to clear her thoughts. She looked over her shoulder at the wall bubbling and smoking under its coat of slime, then turned a slow look back at Moonstone. "This... thing... has got to go," she asserted, her eyes a little too wide, like a spooked horse, but otherwise seemingly fine. "At least whatever's in those sacks doesn't seem to be the same as what it's spitting, but we really better get them out pretty quick anyway," she noted grimly. |
Ducking to avoid the slime ball and rolling to the side, Agate summons another arrow, notching it on the bow. Her eyes narrowing in annoyance, she aims the arrow at the slime, this one slightly different then before. This new arrow has a three pronged tip, sparking with energy. Releasing the arrow it hits the snail near the head on its neck portion, the arrow flashing and the timing between intervals getting smaller.
"It will probably get really angry after this, but that's an elcetro shock energy arrow, so when it flashes brightly it will be like it was struck by lightning." |
The creature was struck with the arrow and was shocked immediately. With the creature being heavily stunned Moonstone helped out freeing some of the humans before gearing up to take the final hit. She charged the stunned creautre once the lighting faded, Moonstone leaped up and stabbed the creature with the combined scimitar instead of the two blades apart giving it a more weight and piercing capapblility. Once the creature was dealt that heavier attack it poofed, leaving it's gem behind.
"We....we did it. Good work Gems." Moonstone bubbled the gem quickly, turning to the other two. "Okay...let's get these people out of here." |
Smiling with excitement, Agate can't help doing a hand gesture to show her excitement in the three of them defeating the monster. Then she quickly summons and arrow and uses its blade to help cut the people down free them from the gook they were trapped in.
"That went pretty well for our first mission, if I do say so myself. That little hole in the door made it easy to fire the arrow." |
Doing her best not to look thoroughly disgusted, Jade went about slicing open the slime sacks and helping the people who'd been trapped inside remember how to breathe, coughing out the slime that'd been seeping into their sinuses.
"Okay, everyone, get yourselves to your respective homes and showers, and I'm sure you'll feel much better when all that stuff's washed down the drain," she said encouragingly, ushering people out of the biohazard that was supposed to be a pizza shop. Probably it would be up to the shop owners to get the actual shop cleaned after this, she reasoned to herself, avoiding the idea of personally mopping up snail bits and pieces. |
Moonstone cut down the last of the people trapped in the goo sacs. Cuttining it open and pulling the poeple out. Once the goo was out of their eyes, nose, and mouth she directed them out and they made their way home.
"We should probably clean this goo up. Especially the acidic one, we can't have the humans touching that." |
Jade's shoulders sagged disappointedly.
"Yeah, you're right. Hey, we should probably use baking soda in water to neutralize the acid, right? I'll check in the back in the kitchen for some and get the shop's mop and bucket ready," she volunteered. While back there, she also found a long handlled window squeegie. Oh, that would be perfect for scooping up the slime, she thought, and added it to the barrage of clean up implements she was amassing. All in all, there was the mop with the rolling bucket that has a spigot at the front to empty the dirty water into the drain, a hand bucket with a sponge and warm water with baking soda dissolved into it, the squeegie and a long handled dust pan that was more of a long flattish bucket on a two-pronged swivel so the slime could be scraped into it and dumped into a lined waste can. |
Agate finishes cutting free the people she was helping and serveys the shop around them.
"Yeah, this is a bit of a mess to be honest." Perplexed by what Jade is talking about she tilts her head. "What's 'baking soda'? Is that some kind of human thing? I've never heard of that before..." When Jade comes back she takes one of the mops from her, dipping it into the water and beginning to clean one of the acid piles of slime. |
"Yes, baking soda will work. Sodium bicarbonate is the technical term it is a substance that has many uses like as a fire extinguisher, a cooking solavant, and of course neutralizing acids and basis. Good work Jade."
Moonstone put her swords away and grabbed a mop and some of the baking soda to clean off the acidic slime. |
"This is why I practically live at the library, Agate -- I learn all sorts of things about this world that way," Jade announced as she took possession of the dust bucket and the squeegee, scraping goo and membrane into the bucket for dumping.
"Honestly, it was an enlightening way to spend the time up until we were called into action. I can't even begin to list everything I've read. Well, I could, but we'd be here for at least a week! Just today I was looking at cookbooks, and that's where I learned about baking soda." |
"Hmm....I'll have to check out the library as well then, there might be some things I can learn there as well. Are we allowed to borrow books in the human's library? I remember there was a tracking system for the Crystals, but I don't know how humans do things too well. I explored around to see how the world had changed while I wasn't myself." Scraping up some goo and dumps it into the bucket and gets back to mopping more.
