Another Year Is Winding Down!
So, my lovely users. Some of you know what time is coming up soon. Others, maybe not so much, but won't you get a surprise?
We got some wonderful feedback from our last yearlies, and I'm here to gather y'all's thoughts for the next batch! Out of the items released this year, what poses did you like best? What colors would you like to see them in? Do you love one, but can't seem to use it because it doesn't have YOUR colors? Come let me know! Monthlies, RIGs, as long as they come from this year, they're fair game to get spiffed up and re-released in our yearly grab-bags. Let's talk out what you all would like, and what I can do for you. Hurry, though! We only have a few weeks to fit it all in! For a list of this year's premium items and their color combinations, click the spoiler below! |
I would love to see some recolours of older items (mainly because there are so many of us newer users and not so many older users playing)
I've loved the sets that I've seen since joining but it kinda sucks that none of the colour options match with anything else, making it hard to make a truly custom avatar without having to use different shades of the colour you want or just using the whole outfit as it was originally intended (if that makes sense?) ^_^;; Overall though I'd say that I love the sets that have been brought out this year, but perhaps reconsider the colours used before release. ^_^;; |
There are a lot of factors that limit us to which items we actually can recolor again, and the farther back you go, the more limits there are. Things like the artist, the style, the files themselves - they all change matters drastically.
For now, I'm only gathering information for the next yearlies, which will be poses from this year's items rereleased in new colors. So, please, get specific! What did you like this year, but wished it came in different color? Are there wings that you wish matched an old item? Or shoes that didn't quite get the shades right? The more I hear from you users, the more I can be sure the next yearlies will be what you want! |
That makes sense, I guess it just bums me out that there are so many pretty items I can't get my hands on anymore... ^_^;;
As for the question of what I'd like to see, well the main one I can think of right now is the lantern from Extravagant Equipment that I use all the time... I'd love to see more colourations for it to match with any outfit I do (so maybe some reds/purples/neutral colours would be good) I've also discovered the beautiful sleeves with fireball/luminescent orb in Marvelous Mutations that I love the look of! I'd love to see that in colourations that would match the colourations for the kimono I am wearing (because the sleeves aren't long enough). Maybe we could get a version of the sleeves on their own? Sorry if this sounds a little demanding ^_^;; |
Actually, we do have those sleeves in red and black already! You might want to take a peek at the original item that pose was released in. It was a monthly last year named Aloros.
The lantern is from the previous yearly, Leviathan Dominion, so you might want to check out its other variations, too! I'm sure that one of our lovely users would be happy to show you the options each of them have if you can't find any in the market, and if not, I can always do a little modeling for you. That being said, if you still want more after checking out the originals, leave a couple ideas and I'll be sure to keep them on the list for consideration! Those two are some of my favorite poses, too, and I'm always happy to play with their colors. |
Can we get a list of all items that we can choose from, their current color variations, and their front page pictures from each month? I would assist but I couldn't get my hands on very many of them.
|
Just for you, Ginger, I've added references for each of the color sets for all premium items this year.
Now, that list isn't all y'all can ask for, but it is where we want to pull poses from the most. |
i have noticed that we have very less gowns and stuff which would be awesome if we have them! :D there may be some gowns which are not in the commons shop and they were from event shops but it would be awesome if we have more gowns in varieties of colors and how about snowflake items? 8D that would be so awesome! <3
thank you for everything~ :D |
Given the pictures you have posted, I'd love to see more of the Draconian Courtesan items (Pretty much all except the wings) again in other colours, such as purple/gold, red/gold/, dark green/silver and dark pink/teal.
I love the long flowing hair of Verdant Lagoon, as well as the tree staves and lotus puddles. I'm not sure what other colours they would look good in, but I know I'd be happy to see them ^_^;; I like the top and background bits of Tenebrous Reve. Again I am not sure what other colours this would look good in, perhaps a purple variation and some bright/pale colours? I love the staves and clothing from Eventide Muse and would be happy to see them in more/different colours. I like the trousers from Galaxy Wolf. They remind me of hakama and I'd love to see white and red versions of them. ^_^;; I love the clothing elements of Magistra of Pluto (I use them quite a lot) and would love to see more colours that match other sets/commons that already exist. I love the whole of the Briar Enchantress set, especially the staves and hair roses. I'd love to see these in more colours like purple/gold, pale lavender blue/white, hot pink/teal and bright green/yellow. I love the skirt (without armor) of Pallas Athene. I'd love gold, black, purple, pale pink and chocolate versions of this. The floating fire imp from Forge Imp is cute and i'd love to see more colours it. Maybe in blue, purple, red and rainbow? I hope this helps/isn't too much ^_^;; |
It's not too much at all! The more thoughts you give, the better the chance at least one of them will be accepted. To put it in perspective, I'll be grabbing at least 6 items worth of poses to do, and each pose will be getting 6 entirely new color combinations.
Now, if I can get more users to give opinions, I can start to work out how to make as many of you happy as I can. |
Thank you for adding all of those! This will make it so much easier to give suggestions and feedback :D
I was thinking a backgrounds pack might be a good idea. Maybe have brighter color options to reach out to both light and dark avatars. Also I would love to see Wandering Dryad in different colors, namely the tree branch wings in white. If some small pink flowers could be added to them that would definitely make them unique and make them stand out more. Aside from that I'll be giving more suggestions maybe today or tomorrow. I've got a lot going on here at home but I'll for sure keep adding. |
I'd love to see more gradient recolors. More specifically for the full-body test tube and heart monitor line in Osiris Machine, and the skirt for Pallas Athene. *Need. More. Rainbow.*
Tenderfoot Trapper hair/Super Shocker hair in more color options, and more color options for the Roving Cabochon tall ear thingers/tail. Neon Punk shoes in more color options. More pastel colors in general. Lol if this is too much or too specific just let me know. I've got many ideas but I don't know if they're any good. |
Other than more semi-transparent parts (I love overlapping transparent parts - some for the chest would be awesome) and some things to cover the lower abdomen and lower legs...most ideas I have don't fit the Trisphee universe...
|
Winsome Minstrel in lightest natural brown and middle natural green, please and thank you. More earthy tones for that set in general would be great. More items in natural brown and natural green would also be great.
Cumulofabulous hair in more colors would be amazing. |
I'm with Lucid on her suggestion!
|
I wanna see fruit as a yearly. A banana suit, some very beautifully designed apples, and grapefruit LOTS AND LOTS OF GRAPEFRUIT.
|
NO ILLU, BAD, GET OUT OF GALLA'S THREAD! DON'T MAKE ME GET THE BROOM!
Aaanyway. None of the ideas are too much, guys. I definitely love doing extra hairs whenever I can, and matching ears/tails that match the hairs? Yeah, I'm all about that, too. Rainbow can be done, but just remember that it is a bigger process than normal recoloring. If I can do it, awesome, if not, I'll do what I can. The same goes for any base editing, like adding flowers to those branch leaves, Ginger. If I can, I will, because the idea is great, but I might not be able to. Also remember guys that while multiple parts from one item is probably going to happen, ALL the parts are probably not, so if you have a standout favorite pose, feel free to let me know. Otherwise, I'll be going with whatever is most difficult to get the same effect from with other items. |

Now in a separate post because of tabbing back and forth...what's I'd personally like to see with different recolors.
-Sylvan ears from Verdant Lagoon -Some non-gold recolors for Maitre Corbeau (emphasis on the hood, really) -Sword from Line Breaker -Sword from Space Goon -Different recolors for the Tufted Highland event set (might be difficult, seeing as how there aren't any actual accessories) -The Hare carnival mask -Carnival Faces event item |
While it's cool to see a bunch of colors like rainbows, it would be great to have a huge set of items of one color being focused on for a huge set of items. It gives one color a huge range of variety, and it would be cool to see avatar's using different shades of red for example.
So perhaps instead of having this years monthlies organized like wings, hats, ect. It would be a more simpler Red pack, blue pack, green pack, rainbow pack, ect. It's a thought, last year was the year of specific variety, so why not make this the year of variety of colors? It would be much easier in the long run of recoloring everything because you could be recoloring the same set of items (it would be just like the chore to mass save different colored items for the shops), and it gives us a huge range of basic colors and shades to work with outfits. So it makes looking for a specific color for an item much easier in the long run. My only question is if people like the idea of specific color packs, should each set be identical or each have a different individual item (or items) to help separate the packs? (I assume some items might not all work to be rainbow.) Edit: Also after giving it a little more thought, some items that you will throw into a color pack might already be that same color. So you could replace that item with any item you want to help individualize the packs because that color was already available. |
Illu, that is still very much an option. I'm getting down a plan based off of what all of y'all want before I dig into how to sort them this time around, and so far, I'm thinking that sorting them by color themes might actually work really well. The fact is that things can still change when I sit down to try some of these on the items themselves. Sometimes, the shading or gradients of a set, or even just one pose in the set, just won't lend itself nicely to the color(s) we want to do for it. As it is, many monthlies have specific poses manually adjusted to make them match the rest of the set, because neither our pixelists nor our gradients are perfect.
I personally would love to do a rainbow pack, just because those rainbow items always make for a fun variety, even if they're kind of awful for legit outfits. They are a lot of work, though, and it would come down to if there are enough parts that you users want that will actually work well with it. So, we'll see. There's lots of planning left to do, though I am getting an idea of what y'all want most already. It should be an interesting batch, whether they're bundled by theme, or color, or whatever. |
wow so many pretty items. I'd like to see darker shades and a few more earthy tones on Verdant lagoon. They'd look stunning and gve a nice cosplay element.
|
I like the idea of color packs a lot. I think even if a single color per pack doesn't work out, there could be like a "Pastel Pack," a "Earth Tones Pack," a "Black & White Pack," a "Neon Pack," et cetera. That might help increase the variety of items you can use, while still letting people buy the specific "look" of colors that they want. Extra bonus of being able to use more colors in general.

Pastel Smoke Wood Neon Rainbow Earth Fire Ice There are limitless color palettes if you go this route. But if you go the one color route, you could do that one color and every single shade of it. So you can essentially get a pastel red, fire red, and so on in that pack as well. -Shrugs- It all depends on how much work the staff is willing to put in to this idea, and how many items they would want to branch out into. |
Add in different transparencies.
60% Transparent dark fire pallete |
I love the color packs idea! I'm all for Illusion's suggestions.
|
Do you fucking KNOW how many monochrome/earth/wood sets I'd buy.
|
Illu, I think you mean how much work I'm willing to put into it, lmao.
I like this idea, but it's going to take considerably more planning if each pack uses mostly the same poses in it, or else they'll become unreasonably huge. Law, different transparencies is an interesting idea, too, but there's always some types of poses that don't really work with it except for if you're like me and do suuuper specific themes, lmao. Iunno, might happen. Looots of planning in my future. oh boy. |
Well, I suggested some fur items and some animal themed things for the body (mostly because when I suggested it on another site the artist themself outright shot down the idea). I would personally like to see some more things in the token shop, I've almost bought everything I want! x'D So Maybe more wing items, like maybe a Harpy set or something? So that the arms look like wings? Just a thought. x'D
|
I think we already have some things like the fur and wings...though improved or new designs of wings and furry things wouldn't be that bad...
|
Initial cuts for yearlies is putting us at 47 different poses. Yikes!
I am thinking of doing all of these poses in themed packs, with two different color options per pack. This would give those 47 poses 12 new color options across all of the items, more if I don't die from doing six, and possibly a bonus pack with fewer poses to get some rainbow for y'all. Obviously I won't have these done until January, but I'll be doing my best to get them done as soon as possible. |
I have no clue what you just said there. o.O Are you talking about how much work is required for doing donation sets and eggs?
|
The yearly sets aren't going to have new item poses. They have poses that were released this year done in new colors. For example, the ears you're currently wearing from Enfield Fragment were released in new colors for the yearly item Grand Antlers.
The current discussion is how I'll be putting the new yearly sets together to get the most items and new colors out of what we have without taking 3 months to get it all done. So, at this moment, I have 47 different item poses from all across the donation and egg sets released this year picked out to get new colors. |
Why don't you just do something like a psd file and do each shade as a layer? That way in the future you can just pick a color palette and recolor it.
|
We do have set gradient maps we use in ps to make color changing easy for all of our items. That isn't really what takes the most work when we recolor. The recoloring process includes the obvious color picking, as well as sorting and splitting poses, saving images and previews, and keeping it all named and organized nicely in their files to be uploaded.
Changing the colors only takes a few seconds. The rest of the process to turn it into a usable item is what takes time. |
Wow! Thank you for all your hard work Gallagher! I look forward to seeing the yearlies when they are released ^_^
|
Wish I could help out but that's not something I know how to do, just the recoloring. ^^; Last time someone said it would take a while to get recolors out it was just for one specific item with the make and female versions. So if there were 24 colors it would be 48 they would have to make, and the previews for them was for each color so they wouldn't have to do previews like here. One color was only in one shade and the preview window was your own avi too. Would that also be a process or not as much? These avis were only waist up by the way.
|
Well, here, we have a program to color items that are only one shade, so it would only take about 20 minutes to have it completely colored and uploaded. If it was being done manually with preset gradients like these yearlies and our other premium items will be, that would take me a solid few hours to do. Considering I'm used to waaaay more colors than 24, though, I still wouldn't say that would take me more than a day even going slow.
Of course, if it didn't use gradients that are a quick click and change, or a similarly easy system, that would be another matter entirely. |
Ah, okay. I didn't know how that would be with doing that, the one site doesn't have a texture thing like this site does, just flat shading with no high lights except for the hair and shiny items like metal. So its mostly just the shading and base color that needs to be done, but then again it is only one person doing it all with no help, though mostly because I think help hasn't been accepted. :/
|
That's definitely an extensive amount of recoloring to be done by one person. If you are able to do that Galla, I salute you! -bows head-
