Trisphee Pets

Do you have any pets?

If so, what kind of pet do you own? Ferret, cat, dog?

I have a Tonkinese cat named Oliver. He's three year old (almost 4). I rescued him from a cat rescue group on Jan. 3rd of this year. He weights 12 lbs. and loves to lay on my lap...and get it in the way of me typing on my lap top. >____>

Coda 12-02-2015 11:54 PM

...

Three cats, two birds, and a fish.

>.>

The cats are Calvin and Hobbes -- they're littermates, Hobbes is orange with stripes and Calvin is a fluffy longhair with a dark coat and light underbelly; they've got some Maine Coon in them so they're rather large cats -- and Chi, who is smaller than the boys (which means she's a normal-sized cat but it's easy to forget that) with short but dense black and white fur. Hobbes loves to play fetch, and he'll get a ball and meow really loud until you throw it. Calvin is a cuddly little ninja and you'll find him in your lap and not be sure when he got there. Chi loves our son and sleeps in his bed with him.

The older bird is a blue and white female parakeet named Bluebell. The younger bird is a white-headed gray cockatiel named Totoro. Bluebell mostly keeps to herself, but Totoro's gregarious. He likes perching on people's heads, and he gives mommy kisses (complete with smooching sounds) and cuddles. He used to say "Peekaboo!" (or at least, he makes noises with that tone and cadence) if you hid behind a blanket and said "Where's Totoro?" and popped out from behind it, but he's grown out of that. He says "good morning" (again, tone and cadence, not actual speech) and after some morning cuddles and kisses, he sings songs -- he likes the Mickey Mouse March most, but he also sings the My Neighbor Totoro theme and the tune from my wife's alarm clock.

The fish's name is Wheatley. He's a red and blue crown tail betta fish. There's... not much more to say about him.

That is Phil. I don't think Phil is with me any more. He was less of a pet and more of an entity that hung around and I'm pretty sure was incapable of death. To remind me that the food chain can be turned in to a loop, he used to crawl under my blankets at night or would run across my feet under my desk.

Haven't seen him in a while, but he's most likely just moved to an abandoned warehouse or something. And the bottle in the picture is fairly big, not a standard soda bottle.

Ireland 12-03-2015 12:04 AM

Your pets have awesome names. X3

I love when pets have creative and unique names. After working at a doggy day care, I've seen way too many Spots, Rovers, and Fidos...

Glitch 12-03-2015 12:08 AM

My mom has bred dogs my entire life, every litter is a different letter of the alphabet. So we would have to think up 5-10 a names, then b then c . . . I think I have gone through the whole alphabet at least 3 times. xD

Coda 12-03-2015 12:28 AM

Phil reminds me of our Spider-Bro.

We have problems with fruit flies in this part of California, so when a spider took up residence making a web in the corner of our bedroom window, we made a pact of nonaggression -- he could stay and have all the fruit flies he could eat, and we wouldn't bother him as long as he stayed on the windowsill.

He was probably there for almost a year, and he did indeed eat many a fruit fly.

Tohopekaliga 12-03-2015 12:30 AM

I don't have any pets.

But I have at least three animals in my house at any given time. All lizards.

Little guys get in through...I don't even know how. But I see them all the time. Most are outside (I'm sure there's a couple dozen within the vicinity of my house), but sometimes they get in...often lay their eggs, then there's baby lizards scurrying around.

On the plus side, they eat bugs like roaches and ants.

Oh, right. Um. Trigger warning. Spider.

Yeah, that'll cover it.

And aye Toho, there's a surprising amount of geckos over this way. They hang out on my windows and just act as free decoration. Every now and then one gets in, which I'm okay with because the South is home to some horrifying insects.

Coda 12-03-2015 12:53 AM

I hear the mosquitoes are either so small they can fly through your screen door, or so big they open it and walk in.

Tohopekaliga 12-03-2015 12:59 AM

Around here, they're almost all Brown Anoles. I looked it up one day, it's an invasive species from Cuba. The native ones are green, and much, much less common.

Common misconception. The mosquitoes invade every house no matter if the door is closed. The big things that people think are giant mosquitoes are erroneously known as Mosquito Hawks, but they do not eat mosquitoes, nor are they some sort of insectile avian. They're just Crane Flies that are absolutely useless.

Ireland 12-03-2015 01:02 AM

I like lizards. =3

...truly I like 99% of animals. >___>;

It's people I'm not fond of.

Coda 12-03-2015 01:17 AM

Yeah, I know about crane flies, it was a joke. >.> Because some mosquitoes ARE pretty big (especially after they've eaten) -- just not crane fly big.

Glitch 12-03-2015 01:21 AM

this is supposed to be a happy thread! instead it is now filled with discussions of bugs! eeeeep!

Tohopekaliga 12-03-2015 01:26 AM

Bugs are beautiful!

Yikes. Trigger warning, Suze.

Lawtan 12-03-2015 01:40 AM

>.>

On task...
1 Dog (German Service Shepherd with cage trauma)...may soon be two.
1 Oscar fish
1 Bearded Dragon fish
2 old Arabian horses
1.5 cats (one black, one white who may have moved in with the neighbors)

Otherwise, we have up to 5+ crows, a family of hawks, a large number of turtles, a bat family, cardinals, blue jays, a raccoon clan, frogs galore, hibernating foxes, black rat snakes, and occasional forays by Starlings, Coyotes, and Deer. (Many of the above are due to caring for and releasing wild animals injured or trapped in the city)

Glitch.

To heal the wounds wrought by the icky spider. <3

May I present Oliver the Tonkinese.

Coda 12-03-2015 02:06 AM

Oliver does not look amused.

Salone 12-03-2015 02:11 AM

Okay, I'll make it up to you.

This is Speedbump, a cat I rescued who had been ran over by some asshat. I found her while doing deliveries. Coughed up the money for her surgery (had to have a leg amputated), and she recovered incredibly quickly. Very sweet, very loving cat. Unfortunately, I had to find a home for her as my girlfriend at the time was allergic to cats.

Looking back, I should have kept the cat. While finding her a home, the vet clinic suggested I change her name. I figure if you drop hundreds of dollars saving a cat's life, you should get to name it whatever you please. I relented though, and she found a home once she was renamed to Kittybeans.

Coda 12-03-2015 02:14 AM

We recently rescued a puppy! It was found abandoned along the side of the road! Itty bitty puppy too, I can't imagine it was more than a few weeks old. Took a couple days but we found a good home for him.

We also saved a couple of kittens last year -- totally jet-black kitties, and Ginny saw someone THROW THEM OUT OF A CAR driving through the middle of Little Tokyo! She ran after them and wore herself out chasing them down, keeping them from getting run over, and scooping them up, and she was already feeling sick, so she very nearly passed out. (She described the experience in great detail: the color fading out of the world, everything sounds like you're hearing it from underwater, darkness creeping in around the edges of your vision...) We found someone to adopt one right away and found a good home for the other the next day.

lolololol

He is defiantly a sufferer of resting bitch face.

Here he is in his happy place.

Coda 12-03-2015 02:21 AM

That does look like a happy kitty.

Illusion 12-03-2015 02:26 AM

All my pets run away from me >.>

Currently I hate a cat and a bunch of fish.

My cat is slowly becoming a outdoor cat because she hates staying inside all the time. No one ever plays with her anymore, or even pet her because she likes to roll herself in her litter box after taking care of business.

Den 12-03-2015 02:28 AM

We have two cats. Mom's cat, Cisco, who is an American Shorthair tuxedo with all four paws white, and Lucy (We joke that it's short for Lucifer, because she's a brat), who is Dad's cat. We're pretty sure she's part Siamese, and part Himalayan. She's mostly white, but for her tail, which is a dark grey.

Obsidian 12-03-2015 02:35 AM

I have 2 cats. They help me with my MDD.
Kitty is the oldest. She was born feral and it took me about 3 days to tame her. I suspect her to be a Bengal mix.
Then when I had to move her to my parents, my brothers cat, Gizmo, who is a Birman mix, and her had 6 kittens together (pregnancy 1: 1 kitten, pregnancy 2: 1 kitten, pregnancy 3: 4 kittens). I took the runt out of the last litter.

That picture. Of those two cats. The cat in the back is my favorite. That's the face I have when someone recognizes me from an old job or something and I have no clue who they are. That cat is perfect.

Glitch 12-03-2015 03:18 AM

I knowww that is my favorite picture!!!!!

Oh my gosh adorable pets yaaaaay!~ SO MANY KITTAHS *[]*

We have two puppies.

This is Jesse. He is 3.
https://goo.gl/photos/bETBRPYboo6Uc5v56

This is Que. He is 2.
https://goo.gl/photos/foSPVKoj4ZZEhgSU8

They like to have puppy nap time together.
https://goo.gl/photos/gMTVoNA34QxiRt939
https://goo.gl/photos/eUQjSEUmZDK6V6QD7

Que is a greedy little food beggar dog.
https://goo.gl/photos/btPAvAQPFQvyfEkj6

Jesse loves belly rubs, and I imagine in my head that he looks down upon idiot humans and calls us "peasants" when we don't do his bidding.
https://goo.gl/photos/JgxiMfU1fKoLiUbK9

They are Havanese; they have hair instead of fur so they don't shed. They are fluffy little boys and I love them.

Glitch 12-03-2015 05:57 AM
