amirite?

who else gets to the end of a looooong list of work that needs doing then slack the fuck off? how is it i have been putting off this commish for three hours now x_____x the whole thing only takes 4 hours to finish, i could be nearly done now

Ireland 12-08-2015 01:48 PM

*raises hand* ME! I love to slack off! >___>
Which is what I am doing right now. ^.^; Posting instead of putting labels on folders...which is boring. D<

Gallagher 12-08-2015 01:50 PM

that's me every day of my life

-looks at item files and sighs-

Lawtan 12-08-2015 01:52 PM

That is actually quite normal. That is why ideal environments tend to split jobs up into parts.

Potironette 12-08-2015 03:18 PM

Actually, I slack off in between and in the middle of doing things, so it all adds up to be really bad at the end T~T

Glitch 12-08-2015 03:27 PM

Same here, I am doing it as we speak in fact.

Tohopekaliga 12-08-2015 03:45 PM

Story of my life, really...

Things get done eventually, but damn if it isn't super hard to get going sometimes.

littl3chocobo 12-08-2015 05:37 PM

this is less 'not modivated' and more 'i did like 95% of this with haste and vim but i dont feel like this last 5% at all'

Tohopekaliga 12-08-2015 05:40 PM

It's the same general idea, really. :) I understand where you're coming from. The last bits of a project are often very tedious...and thus not too fun.

littl3chocobo 12-08-2015 05:42 PM

ok, fair enough XD though i am now at 7 hours and i still am only 20ish mins farther along than when i wrote that

Coda 12-08-2015 05:44 PM

I use vim every day, but I'm not familiar with haste. Where can I read the documentation?

Tohopekaliga 12-08-2015 05:55 PM

Haha.

I admit, I thought of that first when I read "vim" as well.

Ireland 12-08-2015 06:06 PM

I've heard vim before. Usually paired with vigor, as in "vim and vigor". X3

Tohopekaliga 12-08-2015 06:08 PM

And it's also a command line text editor on Linux.

Coda 12-08-2015 06:14 PM

Or Mac, as the case may be here.

Ireland 12-08-2015 06:28 PM

Brains! All of you!
X3
All the smarts, you have.

Coda 12-08-2015 06:31 PM

Nah, it's domain-specific knowledge. We're programmers, so it's just the tools of the trade; it's like a car mechanic knowing what a socket wrench is.

littl3chocobo 12-08-2015 06:32 PM

is it, toho? XD i am too dumb for that ballyhoo XD

Glitch 12-08-2015 06:52 PM

I love projects. I don't know about not being able to finish the last 5% but I do know. . . it's the first 5% I struggle with. Once I'm going on it though, I can not be stopped. Not even for lunch.

littl3chocobo 12-08-2015 06:56 PM

starting is no biggie XD

Coda 12-08-2015 07:11 PM

I think it depends a lot on the type of project and what the work is.

Programming projects, for example: At the beginning, there's tons of interesting things to work on, but when you get to the end all that's left is really boring crap like cleaning things up and reviewing everything and testing and bugfixing and stuff. You've already got something that looks like the final product or very close to it, and there's no obvious end to the remaining drudgery.

On the other hand, some kinds of projects are really hard to get started on, but as you near the goal, the end is in sight, and there's a reward (such as being able to use the thing you made) for completion, so you've got momentum to finish it up.

Ireland 12-08-2015 07:45 PM

That is true.
For me, if I'm in the right mood the small and tedious stuff is easy to push my way through and it doesn't irritate me as much. If I'm in a bad mood, there is no way for me to do the task quickly...as I feel miserable and jittery. My theory is that it's my ADD acting up in those situations.

littl3chocobo 12-08-2015 07:57 PM

well, i finished XD wanna see?

Ireland 12-09-2015 01:21 AM

Show us!! :D

Tas 12-09-2015 01:31 AM

I slack off all the time! I'm a horrible procrastinator!

IN FACT, I should be working on homework right now. Instead, I'm watching Jessica Jones. And updating my avatar! ANd posting in this thread@!!!

Lawtan 12-09-2015 05:08 AM

I can have a bit of trouble at times...largely because of my vaporized self esteem. *Shrugs*

littl3chocobo 12-09-2015 10:10 AM

http://tenchibaka.deviantart.com/art...ybon-576932616 it was a pink pile of squiggles for the majority of this thread hahaha

Potironette 12-09-2015 10:15 AM

Oh wow! A bear and a mouse! That reminds me of the "Ernest et Célestine" movie!

Just curious, what part was the 20 minutes you stopped on?

littl3chocobo 12-09-2015 10:44 AM

hamster XD the right-side foot, i had the torsto and most of the head left to do then the color

Ireland 12-09-2015 01:33 PM

IT'S SO CUTE!!
D:
It's almost painful. X3

littl3chocobo 12-09-2015 02:12 PM

haha, thanks XD it was twenty dollars american

Espy 12-09-2015 03:36 PM

Ey Cho, nice to see you again.

Succulent 12-11-2015 07:04 AM

Slacking off is like, my life

daikokunyo 12-11-2015 07:07 AM

It's my policy. The day after finals I don't do ANYTHING except sleep and internet. :p-grin:

littl3chocobo 12-11-2015 09:56 AM

XD i am in good company, hahaha

Ireland 12-13-2015 05:13 PM

Indeed. Like I mentioned earlier - I'm doing nothing right now. Sundays are usually my day for doing nothing. :3

Tohopekaliga 12-13-2015 05:46 PM

A good day to have, really.

Ireland 12-13-2015 08:00 PM

Yeeaaahhhh
I woke up at around three when the manbeast texted me. I was sleeping on my back and my cat was sleeping on my chest, his cheek against mine. Needless to say, I didn't want to get up. :3

Tas 12-13-2015 08:12 PM

sounds adorable! :3

Ireland 12-13-2015 08:49 PM

I named him after a character from a movie that is on my list of favorites (Dirty, Rotten Scoundrels). We ended up calling him Ruprect all weekend. XD
