Yearlies Are... Here!?

This just in! Yearlies are HERE! Right now! For realzies! Go look!

Illusion 01-15-2016 12:07 PM

Thank you Glinter for being the most awesome person on this site and deserving of the title.

SUPUAR PIXELISTI-SAN!

Glitch 01-15-2016 01:30 PM

You guys really know how to butter me up I tell you what XD

Side note: I love that picture of Dr House and I am stealing it forever.

Gallagher 01-15-2016 05:23 PM

Hey guess what you guys.

Glitch 01-15-2016 05:23 PM

yearlies are here?

Gallagher 01-15-2016 05:26 PM

Oh. Yeah, I guess that's true, too.

Glitch 01-15-2016 05:30 PM

Haha what else!

Gallagher 01-15-2016 05:44 PM

Well, I was gonna say I'm watching The Great British Baking Show. But, y'know, yearlies are cool.

Lucid: 01-15-2016 05:45 PM

Wow look at all those sweet, sweet yearlies. They're even new items that aren't recolors! THIS IS CRAZY!

Gallagher 01-15-2016 05:46 PM

Yes, they are!

Next year, we'll be having a mix of original and recolor items, so be sure to remember if there are any items throughout the year that you want to see more colors for!

Illusion 01-15-2016 08:29 PM

I'm determining whether I should say some things or not, and the effects it would have if it was said here and now. Some things I've already said before....

I'm about to generalize everything I say as a whole rather then individually point things so I'm not nitpicking, but due note that everything I'm noting is more than one if not all of the items.

1. Some of the item sets aren't worth the price because all the poses are separated, yes I understand the idealism of "Well there is more poses in each set to choose from." But a lot of these items are too disjointed stand alone, then comes the realization or expectation if I desired a whole set your expected to pay for the 6-8 items in the set of a expensive $5 item for one small pose, where a person is better off not spending money on any of these items and just buy items from monthlies instead because it's more likely they will get more bang for their buck.
I mean what would you rather spend $10 on? 2 yearlies without a complete item set, or 5 monthies of some cool tiger item and have a complete set that is just as equal to a full yearly set or just have enough items to work with the item in general for maximum coolness?

2. Some items/poses COULD use some separation as extra poses, moved around to make a different kind of pose, or have some parts of the item erased making whole new ones entirely.

3. Some pixels or two could be cleaned up and sharped a bit. Not going to say which ones, but you can see some poses are a little messy and are in need of being cleaned up a smidge. Not many but I caught a few.

4. Some poses could had been commons. Or could still be used as commons with minor things taken out. Though I already expect Galla has plans on doing this already.
Some poses could had been a anka egg item.
Some poses could had been in the token shop.

5. (sort of goes back to my first point.) Put yourself in a customers shoes. Would you buy that for $5? Some of these items feel as though they're $5 just because the past yearlies we're $5. Try reconsidering some things. Compare a yearly item with the recolor packs and monthlies. Which one would give you the most bang for your buck?

Gallagher 01-15-2016 08:51 PM

Yes, Illu, some poses will have alterations for release as commons, and there are poses that were made for these items that were held off to be exclusively commons.

I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I'll definitely be dropping some runes on The Super Trisphite and Dumpster Diver. Maybe Industrial Angel too, I haven't decided yet. So yeah, I'd buy them.

We'll have more time to work on yearlies the next time around, so hopefully you'll find them closer to your standards. I'm happy with how these items came out.

Den 01-15-2016 08:56 PM

I.... want enough to make full sets of all of them. Even Dumpster Diver. because that one is just hilarious.

littl3chocobo 01-15-2016 09:02 PM

good job everyone!

Glitch 01-15-2016 09:38 PM

I'm sorry they aren't as amazing as some past ones have been, I only had a couple of months to get them all together and I think I did alright for my first stab at yearly items! I have already improved I think since I made some of these and I see my own areas that I could have done better if I was making them now instead of a month or two ago. But! I have always seen monthlies and yearlies on any avatar site as a thank you for donating sort of thing so if you don't like them, you certainly don't have to get them. You can also always buy some from people selling them for aurum too :3 I personally hate wearing full sets so I'm fine with only getting a few of each so I can mix it up.

ALSO SUPER ANXIOUS FOR THE COMMON RELEASES <333333333

trystan830 01-17-2016 12:08 AM

question: how much aurum do runes sell for, and is anyone selling runes... or a yearly package for aurum? cause i really want that Moonlit Warrior background... and i only have 10 runes...

The market has been dead so prices are to be determined.

I say a good rate right now might be somewhere between 2k-4k per 10 runes. If people aren't selling after a couple of days try offering more.

Glitch 01-17-2016 02:44 AM

You can enter my coloring contest! ^_^

I'll also try and sell some after I get my first paycheck. Ho ho ho first paycheck *rubs hands together*

Faerie_2010 01-17-2016 05:33 AM

Oooh I love the Industrial Angel! And the Powersuit. Very cool :)

I'm such a sucker for wings though.

Pinkie 01-17-2016 09:32 AM

.....0.o....Some people.

I thought they were a very interesting concept! There is a couple of them I want so good job everyone!

trystan830 01-17-2016 11:58 AM

Thanks, illusion. Now, to are where I can get some runes.

You can pay your thanks with that nice juicy arm you got there.

trystan830 01-17-2016 11:42 PM

nice juicy .... what?!?!

just cause you're a tiger....!

Illusion 01-17-2016 11:54 PM

Doesn't mean I don't have to eat meat?

I'm a stereotypical gentleman tiger thank you kindly. I also enjoy the buttocks of swine, that is also another valid form of payment.

trystan830 01-18-2016 12:29 AM

well you can't have my arm as payment... i've grown attached to it!

Glitch 01-18-2016 12:29 AM

You should eat the hamsaurus.

trystan830 01-18-2016 12:30 AM

i like ham..... ;)

Ginger 01-19-2016 02:40 AM

Omg one of my designs from a contest years ago was used as a Yearly item design! WOW! Haha. I love CupcakeDolly's additions to it, also.

trystan830 01-19-2016 11:02 AM

wow that's awesome, ginger!

Glitch 01-19-2016 02:46 PM

I hope you like it!!

Dorian Pavus 01-20-2016 05:39 PM

Unfortunately I have to agree with some of the negative feedback already given.
The yearlys this time are...disappointing? There's a few different reasons behind this and I'm going to explain myself here in a moment. I'd just like to say before that I understand that you did the best you could with what you can do/time restraints/other reasons. That's not what I'm criticizing at all and having been an avatar artist for years I understand better than the majority of people. So please don't take this personally, I'm not meaning it that way. more like advise that your free to take or discard if you'd like.

All of the sets have problems and it's not something I didn't expect. It's hard to fill someone else's shoes, especially if their better then you (both of us).

The best one art wise is Power Suit and even then the pigtails are...really odd. I know exactly what you were going for and it's a really interesting idea that I would have never thought of. The execution just isn't there. I'm not talking about the shading or anything like that. I'm talking about the blur used. There are other ways of making that look a lot better.

The Trisphee Heroes is probably the worst in my opinion and show a bare bones understanding of how to make tool shading items. However, if your the the one to make all of the items then I can see the progression you've made and damn you've gotten a lot better. Possibly better than me at this point. ha.

The personal gripe I have, which is very subjective...I hate super hero themed items. Not really hate, but I don't like the overarching theme here so I won't end up buying any of them. It would be more advisable that you do things related on a much broader theme like 'fashion' and don't make them all references to things. now, I don't know if you were given a theme to work from or not. If you where then I can understand that you didn't have a choice. I just feel it would have been better to have a few very different items, that way you could please more people. The vast majority of users here will buy about anything you give them (most sites are like this), but with the wider range of things you would pull in the people like me that definitely will not buy certain things.

Coda 01-20-2016 07:56 PM

I think I agree with the sentiment that we should have a broader thematic variety in the yearlies rather than making them all fit a central theme. We've got monthlies (and potentially seasonals) that can have coordinated themes; yearlies are in the shop for far too long to not offer different styles of items for different interests. We'll call this a lesson learned for the future. :)

I'm pretty sure Glitch is aware of the technical shortcomings of how the items are pixeled. We're proud to have her on staff, and given how quickly she got these done and how well she DID do on them, I have high hopes for future items.

A variety would be better, but don't rule out themes entirely. Save those for seasonal items instead since their every 3 months. I don't know how many items will be made for each season, but a year is definitely too long and a to make these items with a theme with monthlies is too limiting to restrict a whole theme with 2 items.

If this whole super hero idea was a seasonal idea (and if Seasonals are 3-4 items in that time-span) I feel like all the items in this Super Hero theme would work out much better.

Granted I still think Trisphee's size is too small to warrant such a large array of limited time cash items. You guys should think of a marketing tactics to hook people onto buying items (weekly sales, digital trading card game with purchase, buy a item and some child in africa gets a item as well, buy one get one, buy runes within this week and get a limited edition one pose item saying thank you, and so on.)

Perhaps you should get sexy pictures of all the NPC's and make a calendar? IDK you guys need to work on marketing in all forms.

Coda 01-20-2016 11:58 PM

I specifically called out seasonals as being candidates for coordinating themes. >.>

We're already planning some stuff for additional marketing. It's coming in a gradual rollout.

Obsidian 01-21-2016 03:04 AM

I was pretty disappointed in the yearlies, myself, but I won't repeat what has already been stated.
I LOVED the tiger set from the monthlies, however. So much, that I spent money I should have saved just to get it. XD

Dorian Pavus 01-22-2016 12:51 AM

I mean, I could go into details if Glitch really wants my input,
but I didn't because I didn't know how much they wanted me to babble for.

Obsidian 01-23-2016 01:00 PM

Well, I'm not sure who all has read the history of Trisphee but I vaguely recall reading some of it and if memory serves me correct, Trisphee reminded me of Fallout. Perhaps if we got more wasteland/mutation themes around here, the items would line perfectly with the history?

I would LOVE to see more Steampunk themes from Deivai.

Panda 03-16-2016 11:17 AM

Awesome, thanks. :D

Illusion 04-10-2016 10:14 AM

No cat claws, paws, feet, or tail for a cat super villain!

THAT'S SUCH A CRIME! Or... Is that the point?

Gallagher 04-10-2016 11:14 AM

Who needs claws when you're already so catty?
