Forced Win 10 Upgrade

So I woke up this morning and found that my PC had decided to upgrade to Win 10 on its own. I was going to have to upgrade eventually when I get a new PC but I wanted to stay on Win 7 for as long as possible. The whole treat my PC like a tablet thing just gets to me sometimes.. =/

Anyway, I managed to do a quick fix of my 'brightness' settings. I couldn't see shit.. Apparently my graphics card drivers were all up to date, so I had to go with method 2 where you chose windows something or other.. >->, what ever I CAN SEE!

My problem at the moment lies with windows 10 and Firefox.. the friggen scroll bars on the pet sites and avatar sites.. ON TRISPHEE!

Look at that.. I can't tell where the scroll part thingy is in the scroll bar! D8

It's not just trisphee, its flight rising and KofK... its like.. non-Microsoft Sites... are all like this!

OnO halps -stares at coda cause he normally responds to these threads fast-

Edit: Using temp fix: a "User Styles" thing called iBaked V for Firefox

edit edit: >w> um where's the uninstall programs.. its not in the settings..

I fixed my innitial problem, but it would be nice to chat about the Win 10 Upgrade.

Coda 06-02-2016 11:37 AM

I don't know a whole lot about troubleshooting Windows. ^^()

Maybe you got your accent color set to black. See if you can find the setting to change that. I don't know where it is off the top of my head.

Demonskid 06-02-2016 01:13 PM

windows 10 setting is so weird.. i can't find crap in it @-@,

edit: Windows 10 setting accent only changes the color of the start menu and bar.. the scroll bar didn't change ono

Just looked about quickly on Google. Windows 10 and Firefox don't seem to like each other. Have you updated to the new supposedly Windows 10 friendly Firefox version?

I use Chrome, and MS Edge when I have to (what MS put in when I updated my system) so I don't really know what Firefox is like. I haven't had any issues so far.

Demonskid 07-14-2016 07:04 AM

I supposedly have the latest version of Firefox.

It fixed itself though. my graphics card wasn't liking the forced Win 10 Upgrade >w>

Quiet Man Cometh 07-14-2016 11:32 PM

Yeah, people weren't happy about that. You tell it "no," close the option window and suddenly it happens when you aren't looking. My mom's computer is a complete wreck.

Lawtan 07-15-2016 12:28 AM

I've avoided it so far...then again, I went into the regedit to do so. (A file in the registry key was there to keep pushing it)
To my knowledge, you can't simply uninstall windows 10.

Though I wonder if virtual desktops would work - essentially setup a windows 7 inside a windows 10.

...it's how I got old 1990 stuff to work in Windows 7.

Demonskid 07-15-2016 03:52 AM

Now that the graphic card is fix and everything is working fine, shocking the PC is actually working kinda better than it did before >->,

I've gotten use to it, and i'm loving the Crunchyroll 'app' >w>

Tohopekaliga 07-15-2016 07:13 AM

I let my computers go to 10 a while ago now. I think it's actually rather nice. They for the most part backed way off from that "your computer is obviously a tablet" mess from Windows 8... The start menu is there again, unless you *want* it in that they mode from 8.

That said, their approach to getting people to upgrade has been rather poor.

Demonskid 07-15-2016 09:29 AM

to 'getting' people to upgrade? xD it was forced for lots of people. they woke up to windows 10 when before they left the pc for bed they had 7 or 8. xD

Tohopekaliga 07-15-2016 10:04 AM

Yeah. That's a shitty way of handling it. It's a shame, really.

Demonskid 07-15-2016 10:56 AM

Luckily my PC handed the change well.. other than the graphic driver not liking the change at first. o3o,

Some people, it broke their pc in ways. i forget what my friend dew said happened to her brothers PC

Coda 07-15-2016 12:58 PM

TECHNICALLY it wasn't forced. TECHNICALLY you had to accept the upgrade. But if you get used to dismissing the notification, you're going to skip the one that says "click here to not upgrade."

Demonskid 07-15-2016 01:36 PM

When I went to bed, there was no pop up. and I have updates turned off so I hadn't gotten a win 10 update for quite some time. I woke up and I was on Win 10 xD it was forced

Coda 07-15-2016 01:40 PM

Oh, no, that popup would have been a couple weeks ago. It said that a Windows 10 upgrade was available and that you could click there to control the settings. That would have been the last notification you got.

patco 07-15-2016 03:05 PM

Yeah... I hate to be forced to do something... At least I hope Windows 10 will be MUCH BETTER than Win8/8.1 :)

Coda 07-15-2016 03:16 PM

It is. When I updated my convertible laptop from 8.1 to 10 there were a small number of places where I noticed my workflow changing (they got rid of a lot of the "swipe from the edge of the screen" functions) the new experience is WAY better if you're using a mouse and it's easier to find where things are (edge-swiping requires you already know that it's there, not good).

Most of the people complaining are complaining that they got upgraded from Win7, which is still a better keyboard-and-mouse experience than 10, but 10 is way better than 8.1.

Tohopekaliga 07-15-2016 03:29 PM

I admit, I upgraded my windows 7 computer to 10 by clicking the "X" on the prompt that said "click here to upgrade!"

Apparently not answering that one was a "yes." But it happened, so I rolled with it, and it worked out alright.

Demonskid 07-15-2016 03:49 PM

All the pop ups i got i clicked Decline.

I'm just happy that my PC seems to run smoother at times. ovo I liked 7 but, win 10 has the crunchyroll app >w>

Coda 07-15-2016 07:59 PM

I've noticed that 10 is smoother than 7 for the most part, too. It's heavier in some places, but it does a better job of keeping the system usable under load.

Demonskid 07-15-2016 08:02 PM

I'm able to watch 720p now with Win 10. for some reason Win 7 couldn't handle it and i had to watch.. the 400p one o3o 420? or is it 480..

My PC is suppose to bable to handle the 1080p.. but yea >w> oh well. I think sometimes, the CR app jumps to 1080p ovo

Lawtan 07-15-2016 09:17 PM

I think that may be more an internet system thing than a computer thing. (My computer can handle it, but local internet is tied to an early-2000 computer...so it causes issues.)

Demonskid 07-16-2016 07:35 AM

Its a Computer thing. xD I download anime that CR doesnt have, and if its the 1080p the PC lags really bad. With this being an All In One PC, changing out parts is hard so I don't even wanna try it. I'll wait for when its time ot get a new PC and make sure its a Tower type >->,

Lawtan 07-16-2016 08:17 PM

As a question, has anyone looked into the Virtual Machines that come with Windows 10? How do they hold up?

Coda 07-17-2016 12:30 AM

They're pretty typical VMs, really. Not especially interesting unless you're a hacker type or if you have some unusual pressing need to run Win7 sometimes but keep Win10 around most of the time.

Lawtan 07-17-2016 08:48 AM

I more use them to run, say, Windows 95 and 2000 in Windows 7 at the moment.
