Solar Eclipse 2017
Surprised there isn't a thread on this already. o3o
Share your photo's and videos of the eclipse! Are you using the App NASA wants people to use to help record clouds and temps? (I was going to but I don't have a proper thermometer) Make sure not to stare at the sun with out proper protection! oxo And make sure your phone/camera can handle taking photos of the sun.. Unfortunately no one near me is giving out the NASA Eclipse Glasses for free (our library says they never got any in..) and so the neighbor is gonna try to check walmart on her way back from the drs and get us a pair if they have some. if Not.. oh well >-> I'll use my camera.. xD But yea.. share your photos here! OvO I wanna get pics of my cat zeke's reactions too.. he's the only one trained to walk on a leash. I wish i could take kuromi and hiro out as well >x< |
Unfortunately, I will be inside at work during the eclipse. And as much as I wish I could get pictures with my cell phone, as one of my coworkers pointed out, it's very likely to ruin the camera. So no go for me on all aspects.
But I look forward to seeing what everyone else gets! |
They have actually now stated that Selfie mode on your phone isn't safe….
Which sucks cause I was gonna use that. We are in the 96% Totality Zone |
Just watched the live stream of it, it's pretty cool. Sucks I have to be at work right now but at least I'll still, hopefully, be alive when it swings back around in 2024 when I can go up to upstate New York and see it.
|
|
I wish I could've seen anything from it, but my location was (and still is) completely foggy today... got to watch it on tv, I guess, but that's not quite the same lol.
|
My area was suppose to have it start at 1:08PM and peak at 2:33PM.. its now 3:15PM and NOTHING happened here in Ohio.. we were suppose to have a Partial Eclipse here. =/
I'll prolly go out side every so often to check to see if stuff is happening but.. I doubt it =o= so disappointed |
It happened! Trust me! But if you arent wearing glasses it takes reflections to notice. Or looking outside to see how dark it is…. but either way it happened. The next one in the US is 2024!
NEXT US ECLIPSE!! |
|
Oooh nice picture Gizmo, did you take that yourself?
|
Yup I rigged up a goofy contraption on my phones camera so basically it was like the phone was wearing special glasses, then turned my head away aimed the phone to the sky and set it on take multiple photos mode and walla unfortunately it didn't get the colors
|
It didn't even get dark here not even a little bit. it was bright all day until the rain hit.. it went from super sunny and bright to rainy in like.. 5 seconds ._.,
reflections.. next time i'm taking mirrors with me >w> |
Haha that sounds like how things went down here in MD, Demonskid.
|
HA Not alone!
though.. when Tiva said reflections.. I'm taking a closer look at the pics I took o3o in almost every photo.. there is a little round dot at the start, then it gets smaller and smaller and more crescent shaped then it grows into a dot again.. But it didn't get dark here at ALL! O-O https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...821_145812.jpg See! o3o https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...15/unknown.png edit: I made a GIF of the dots >w> https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachmen...21/Eclipse.gif |
It wasn't that dark most of the darkness of mine is from the phones special glassese like layer thingy sun shade darkness and I actually had the flash on because I wasn't sure if I needed it so I am not positive what of mine is what as far as the glow but I like the unique eyeball type turnout of it
Wish I could of got different phases but I got a good photo of my foot when I sneezed and moved the phone -.- my other photos really suck |
What did you to to make that thingy for your phone? o3o
|
We couldn't see it from here! But there'll be in 2019, it seems.
I remember seeing one when I was a child. |
http://www.instructables.com/id/Sola...or-Your-Phone/Basically here is the jist of it mine is sorta different because I have a thing that I added on the end to zoom it let me photo it in a sec but minus my zoom piece that is like it and I made $50 someone payed me for it :D
http://i.imgur.com/OiU6rmj.jpg My added thing |
You got one of those phone zoomie lenses!
|
kewl ovo
thank you. I'll try to keep the bookmark safe for .. 2024 x'D |
this was my view....
https://scontent-lga3-1.cdninstagram...58471680_n.jpg and there's some earlier pics on my Instagram... for the darker pics, i took the special glasses, covered my phone's camera lens, and then took the pic in the reflection of my car window. but that pic up there ^ i just looked up and took the pic... which is why it's not all that good - no time to really focus. just literally point-and-shoot. XD |
Even unfocused, its a nice shot trystan! ovo thanks for sharing!
|
thanks DK!
did you see my other pics on IG? |
we were in the 99% eclipsed spot so it got dark like wearing a super strong pair of sunglasses! but not totally dark.
|
oh that sounds very cool, Glitch!
|
I saw, they were very beautiful. too bad I didn't know the reflecting thing earlier. I woulda demanded my neighbor bring her car over to the picknick benches x'D
|
aww, thanks!
i got the reflection idea on saturday, actually. the sun was out, and i remembered i wanted to test the glasses, and while i was outside, i saw the reflection of the sun on the hood of my car... and thought maybe i could see how a picture of the reflection would turn out. and then today i experimented with the special glasses to see what i could do. |
Nice guys I couldn't see much from my nest in Canada lol
|
i was where it was complete total eclipse. traffic was horrible :/ so many people flew/ drove in for it. it was insanneeeeee
|
Lucky Asami! ono
I'm gonna wait and see how much prices drop on the Eclipse glasses >w> then snag a few while prices are low to prepare for the next one in 2024. |
I had the special glasses my school handed out and watched it. I let everyone borrow more glasses to s e for themselves. Made my college president happy and every professor in the art department.
|
so i got my glasses at one of my county library branches... i'd found a website that had a link to the participating libraries, and the one where i got my glasses was down the road from where i used to live. heee!
also, for the one in 2024, it's all the way across my state (i'm in PA, near Philly... and i'll be Erie that's in the path of totality. totally doable... 6-1/2 hour drive! *woot!*) |
