Ava 09-23-2019 09:36 PM

Hello!

Hello. :)
My name is Ava, otherwise known as "Ava The Vampire" on other parts of the internet.

I'm currently going through something really, really tough right now. I could really, really use some friends.

I was invited here by a really kind person, Panda.
I'm so happy I was invited here, I've been trying my goddamn hardest to make new friends on Discord, but since I am not a gamer, no one really wanted to reach out to me or include me in their conversations. :(

I hope I can make new friends here!

Panda 09-23-2019 09:41 PM

Hello AVA! I'm glad to see you here. :D

It's a lovely community here, everyone here is nice, and you will be included in conversations haha ♥ It's not super active like some sites, but I love this place! I've been here since 2009, and it's still here!

Ava 09-23-2019 09:42 PM

That's a GREAT sign!! :D
I'm super excited!!

I love the smaller communities anyway. :)
I feel like it's easier to have deeper conversations when there's a smaller group

Espy 09-23-2019 09:47 PM

Ey, welcome to Tris!

Yeah, Panda's an oldbie. We're having our, uhhh... -counts- ninth anniversary event? I think almost every post will get you a birthday birdday box which you can open from your inventory for a random event item.

Panda 09-23-2019 09:51 PM

I sent you a bunch of items,
so hopefully you aren't naked no more. >.<

bluebird 09-23-2019 09:58 PM

Welcome to Trisphee! You've joined in the middle-endish of our 9th anniversary event. Hope you come to chat with us!

Discord has non-gaming servers too. Like official discords for avatar sites, art discords, youtube channel discords, etc. If you have a hobby, I'm certain there is a server for that. Or ditch discord altogether and just chat on tris forever mwahaha

Panda 09-23-2019 09:59 PM

I was on discord too, but I stopped going there because you can't really keep track of things...you can, but it's just too much to go through.

Ohh! I'm so happy I joined during an event :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, Espy. :)

I'm super excited to start chatting! :D
I've spent the last like 30ish minutes trying to figure out what I wanted in my signature lol

I'm a part of a couple of discord servers that aren't specifically for gaming. They are relatively quiet as of lately though :(

I tried to talk to some of the people on those servers about my current situation. It hasn't helped much, though.
I think people got so used to seeing me happy and friendly all the time, they don't know how to help when I am struggling :(

Thanks for the warm welcome, though!

Really? I have the opposite problem lol.
Most of the time it's so quiet, and when I do try to butt into a conversation, I'm usually left out :(

Panda 09-23-2019 10:16 PM

Ahhh, I joined more active ones, that's why. >.<
Your avatar is looking lovely already! I love it!

Burnt Rice 09-23-2019 10:17 PM

Hey hey hey!
Welcome fellow new comer~ Glad to see someone else jumping on during the event. (I hear we get 'free' pasties with almost every post! So this is the perfect time to stalk up on all your nipple covering needs.)

You'll probably be able to find folks on here that are not only interested in gaming. I for one love to play video games and embroider, though the later has been put on hold for a bit as I organize my thread collection. So much thread. @^@

Panda 09-23-2019 10:18 PM

Ok, you are already addicted to Trisphee *points to title*

Espy 09-23-2019 10:41 PM

P sure they're a barrel of monkeys.

Burnt Rice 09-23-2019 10:45 PM

Yeah, that thingie under the nameie doesn't mean a lot to me. It has had a lot of different things typed into it. So until it settles down and figures it's life out, or even just set some goals, there's no real trust to it.

Yes Espy, you are correct. Barrel of monkies. Oooh-oooh aaah~

Edit:
AAAHHHHH my internet. I blame the person who's in this house, besides me, for stealing all my internet and making me double post.

Glitch 09-23-2019 11:02 PM

Hello and welcome! you look beautimus!!!

Embroidery is so cool! I had a friend who loved to make quilts. (I know it's not quite the same!)
I love homemade things. She was so kind enough as to make me a custom quilt and she sent it through the post!
I sleep with that quilt every single night. <3

I really wish I were into gaming! It seems like a lot of fun people are into gaming... especially here on the internet.
:(

Awh. <:] Welcome! *waves wetly at Ava*
I hope you like it here. It's nice.

Hello! :)
Thank you for the warm welcome!

I'm enjoying my time here so far!
It's been really helpful to get my mind away from thinking of the inevitable.

Is there a place where I could hang out and chat?
I've been browsing, but I'm still a little lost

Espy 09-23-2019 11:49 PM

Honestly? You see a thread you’re interested in, or where people are talking, just jump right in. Generally hangouts are in The Club House, but we kind of... don’t necessarily follow that rule. Plus, there’s an event on.

Ava 09-23-2019 11:58 PM

Okay!
I'm going to check out the Club House!

I think I figured out where the event threads are :o

Merskelly Metalien 09-24-2019 12:00 AM

:] There's forum games too. Just be sure to read the first posts to get an idea for their rules and posting to follow them. Can't be a game without some rules. ^u^

I've only been here for a little more than half a year, but I still chat with everyone who's been here longer, like Espy. ^-^

Espy 09-24-2019 12:16 AM

Burnt Rice 09-24-2019 12:33 AM

I enjoy creating things with my hands. That's why I prefer typing over writing! Feels more like you're doing something special, similar to sculpting. Though when it comes to drawing... computers make me sad then.

Have you ever created and quilting projects? Or have you yet to try it out?
And yeah, quilting is a wee bit different. But it's pretty much the same concept. You connect fabric together with some sort of string.

Death by Mirrors 09-24-2019 03:40 AM

Welcome to Trisphee! As others mentioned before, it's a small yet tight knit and friendly community. Plus with the current event you joined at the right time. You can still collect boxes from your posts until the end of the month ^^

(In case you haven't found it yet, they will be in your inventory under the usable items tab, where you can make them explode with confetti and reveal one of 107 items)

I admit I am into gaming, but not exclusively. So usually there'll be enough other topics to talk about. For example while I have never tried quilting I think sewing is a lot of fun (and I made my own costume for live action role playing). Other things I've made with my own hands were decent crochet accessories and rather skewed knitting. And I read enough books a week my local library asked me to move in. (Not really - but one day they will. I'd love living among hundreds of book shelfs.)

What do you enjoy in your free time?

Love your avatar, you look like a forest sprite. Panda sure sent you a nice selection there.

That makes sense! :D
I like doing things with my hands too. I play the ukulele and I like drawing sometimes.

I've never tried quilting! I have a sewing machine that my aunt gave me (she's a seamstress) and I've been sewing my own costumes for cosplay. But I don't think I'm that good at it. I don't know how her sewing machine works... I just futz with it until it does what I want it to do. lol. Trial and error every time I use it.

Oooh! I love reading too. I just moved here to California last spring and I still haven't unpacked all my boxes. Which, is annoying because I was reading Peace Like a River before we moved, and now it's in a box and I don't know where! >:( What are you currently reading?

I love singing and playing the ukulele in my free time. I post some of my covers and originals on soundcloud sometimes. I like drawing as well. Although, I haven't felt very inspired to draw lately... I like writing sometimes too. I write fanfiction, but again, no inspiration for that recently either. I also loooove movies! I think I easily own hundreds of DVDs. I have three large shelves full of DVDs, plus four more large Home Depot boxes filled with DVDs lol

And thanks! :D I am really into The Dark Crystal : Age of Resistance and I wanted to make an avatar that kinda looked like a Grottan gelfling.

Merskelly Metalien 09-24-2019 07:05 PM

:D They gonna have a season 2 for that! I'm excite.
x} The Dark Crystal is a childhood movie of mine, and I love that they made such a cool show with the lore and puppetry and all.
:] You avi look great!

Ava 09-24-2019 09:09 PM

OOOO!!!

I'm so excite!!
I still have two more episodes to finish.
... Yeah, I re-watched some of them before moving on. uwu
They were just so good, I had to watch them again before moving on because I wanted to bask in the awesomeness of the puppetry and the voice work~!!!

I think some elf ears would make my avi look a little better.
But I'm waiting until I have enough to buy some good looking elf ears :D

mdom 09-24-2019 09:20 PM

Avaaaa
Welcome to trisphee!!!
where threads derail really fast
like, real fast

hope things get better for you soon <3

Ava 09-24-2019 10:10 PM

Hello mdom!
It's great to see a familiar name :D

I'm so happy to be here

KittyBeary 09-24-2019 10:16 PM

Hi there and welcome!! ^^ There's a birthday event going on right now so feel free to join in the festivities!

Ava 09-25-2019 01:25 AM

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, Kitty!

Is there a "like" button, or reaction button?
I don't want to keep this thread going on forever,
But I don't want to miss saying thank you to the people who welcomed me

Merskelly Metalien 09-25-2019 02:20 AM

You can save a link to it I think on your own profile. :] Or subscribe to the thread to keep it linked to your email.

Espy 09-25-2019 02:27 AM

NorCal? SoCal?

Death by Mirrors 09-25-2019 02:34 AM

Nope, no reaction button. But the thread will slow down notably after all the usual suspects have welcomed you.

Stabbsworth 09-25-2019 09:08 AM

Ah, welcome, Ava! We have infinite layers, and plenty of feral computer scientists.

Oooh~ I've been thinking of learning the ukulele! You got any advice on how to start practicing? Just learn a bunch of songs and hope for the best? Got myself a cheap uku as a gift recently, so it feels like something is telling me to because a professional.

What kind of cosplays have you done? It's been a while, but I remember cosplaying as Luke from Professor Layton. It was a wee bit of a last minute set up, so didn't look that good. Kind of want to try it again at the next convention in town. Also, have you googled tutorials or a instruction manual for your sewing machine?

Stabbsworth 09-25-2019 01:30 PM

I'd love to hear some songs on the ukulele if you manage to upload them to spotify / YouTube.

Also, Professor Layton is a god-tier game and I'm going to go make a discussion thread for that real quick.

I learned the play the ukulele on youtube!
It's really, really easy. You just have to remember a lot of chords. To me, the hardest part is learning the strumming patterns, but once you get used to it, it's easier to learn different strumming patterns. :D
Tabs are easy to learn too, but harder to perfect, imho.
I actually started uke because they were on sale at my local Guitar Center. Now I have three lol

I'm currently working on Nightcrawler.
I did a makeup test a couple of days ago....

I've tried googling/Youtube for instructions on how to use my sewing machine... I found a video, but it's over an hour long! Dx
I find it's easier to just fuss with it until it does what I want it to do lol

I have some of my songs uploaded on Soundcloud :)
I'd share if you guys want!

Stabbsworth 09-26-2019 08:47 AM

i currently only really use youtube for song browsing, but i'll check it out when possible.
