Just An Ok Hangout

This hangout isn't great, but it's not terrible. This hangout is just ok. Ok? Ok.
Ok. We will decorate this hangout pretty soon. Let me just... Take a nap first tho.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 08:54 PM

Going to save this post too. Because...
You'll see after my nap. Or not.

Now, feel free not to post~ Or suffer if you do decide to post. (Or maybe you'll win stuff if you post! Nobody knows.)

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 08:55 PM

vaguely feral scientist noises, somewhere in the background.

i regret learning how to code in basic C / AYA for SSP, because i have ideas, but not the motivation to do them.

very frustrating.

have a nice nap.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 08:55 PM

Ha, jokes on you. I am already suffering.

Stabbsworth 10-01-2019 08:58 PM

i'm suffering with all these ideas, mekatra. i have to do assets if i want to do the ideas, and the code and the functions and such.

help. ( /j )

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 08:59 PM

That pretty much sums up everything in life for me, Void. Got ideas, but no motivation. Why can't we have a nice balance of motivation and ideas?

Mekatra - No! No jokes in this hangout. Only serious discussions about different flavors of ice cream, and what you'd like to see as a flavor.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:01 PM

I would like to see less unicorn swirl and Joker crunch in the ice cream aisle and more things that are actually tasty, not gimmicky.

Instead of trying to tackle a whole idea at once why don't you try just a small part of it? I dunno much about coding or assets or whatever, but could you just work on a single aspect of it at a time?

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:06 PM

You want less of what? Way to keep oppressing the gaming community by demanding we remove Joker crunch. smh. Thought this was an inclusive site.

Just kidding. I see where you are coming from about the ice cream. The non-gimmicky stuff is also sometimes a gamble. There are those ice creams that are creamy and rich, and others taste like watered down milk. Not smooth, and with ice crystals in parts.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:10 PM

I didn't realize DC's Joker was such an important part of the gaming community.

I just dislike mass quantities of poor quality fillings combine with artificial colors and flavors, then inflated in price because they slapped a comic book character on the carton.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:14 PM

It seems like all ice creams are the same price. But this could be because of where I live. Usually the ice pops are the most expensive, followed by artisan ice creams. The later I am ok with spending a bit more money on since they are decent ice creams!

And yes. DC's Joker is an integral part of the gaming community. He is like a holy symbol.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:16 PM

I work at a medium to large size grocery store, with a somewhat large ice cream selection. We have stuff ranging from 8 dollars a pint to 5 dollars a gallon.

..why tho? He's abusive and awful.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:23 PM

Are the 5 buck ice creams any good? The shops around me don't have large selections, so it's pretty easy to price them around the same. Can't grab something cheaper when there's such a small option! And the tubs are usually only for vanilla and chocolate. Never anything fancier.

Joker seems to be very popular because of who he is. I gather it stems from people using video games as the reason for some of the younger generations being violent. That and people trying to avoid the real reasons, and the spread of other misinformation. It's mostly a satirical icon.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:30 PM

They are... plentiful? I wouldn't call them good in the sense of having an amazing flavor profile or anything, but theyr'e great if you're having a large party and want everyone to be able to have some ice cream. It is about perfect for a budget kid's party. We only sell the gallon tubs in chocolate, vanilla, vanilla chocolate swirl and neopolitan.

My favorite ice cream we sell at work is actually the Talenti gelato. It's SOOOO smooth and creamy. Much more expensive, coming in at around 6 bucks for a pint, but it is WORTH IT, especially if you have zero intention of sharing.

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:39 PM

We have a company called Earnest Ice cream to fill the need. They make a lot of different flavored ice creams, and make some dairy free. Plus they give you a nifty jar that you can bring back to refill! Which gives you a small discount on your next purchase.
Mmm... Now I want to go and get some ice cream from them.

There's also a weird shop that sells vanilla ice cream, but costs $9 a scoop because of the cones they use. It's wild.

Mekatra 10-01-2019 09:45 PM

I want a place like the Earnest Ice Cream place... that sounds amazing!

Less so on the 9 dollar scoops. Can I just have it without the super expenive cone?

That reminds me of the dessert I had at a really fancy resturant once. It was a flourless chocolate cake with some kind of special vanilla bean ice cream and it had edible gold leaf wrapped around the very tip of a strawberry on top. The person that took us to the resturant paid 35 dollars for that dessert (He was a CEO of a large company, so I don't even feel that bad) and to be honest, it wasn't really that good or impressive. The flourless cake wasn't as buttery smooth as the stuff I can make at home in the toaster oven and the ice cream really could have used something to bring out the flavor. Maybe just a touch of salt. Eh, either way, it was... meh.

mdom 10-01-2019 09:49 PM

I approve of ice cream discussion.
For example, my sister is very into chocolate chips with chocolate syrup with chocolate, but to me that's too much

Burnt Rice 10-01-2019 09:51 PM

The $9 place had an option for a charcoal waffle cone with gold leaf around it. Bought it for my mom and she quite enjoyed it! It was a nice treat, kind of like going to a zoo and having a close and personal experience with an exotic animal. Minus the animal part, and adding the eating part. Something you did once and never again. lol

Yeah, a lot of places that sell things super expensive aint that good. They usually use the excuse of having "professional" chefs or something. Or like, "these ingredients have come all the way from a mountain side in Ethiopia surrounded by lava and guarded by rabid monkeys. The ingredient is only good after the local shrew population vomited a berry mix on it." Or some crazy back story about how people died to bring you the food.

mdom- yeah... I love chocolate and all, but you need some sort of variety. Maybe chocolate chip and vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup? Or mint ice cream? Or even just remove the chocolate chip part.

Den 10-02-2019 05:06 AM

vanilla and caramel are the combination I like best. but I'm game for pretty much anything ice cream related.

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 09:47 AM

i actually sort of enjoy mint.

just not in toothpaste.

littl3chocobo 10-02-2019 01:25 PM

i mean, you could totally have less animal and more eating at the zoo if you are ok with not being allowed back

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 01:49 PM

that's mildly horrifying, chocobo.

littl3chocobo 10-02-2019 02:37 PM

yum yum koala!

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 03:47 PM

Caramel isn't bad... It's just gotten a bad rep for me with all those dumb apples. Why would you ever dip a green apple into caramel? How do people find that enjoyable? Sliced I understand, but whole? On a stick? Are you crazy?! No thank you. So now I stay away from caramel because of that treat.

choco - Pretty sure more would happen than just not being allowed back in. Like, you'd need to smuggle in a whole barbecue set. Or smuggle the animal out. That's quite a bit of planning, and most animals don't play nice if you try and stuff them down your shirt.

Mekatra 10-02-2019 05:23 PM

I mean, there are some animals at the zoo small enough you could just stuff them in your mouth whole. It's sort of like sushi....but crunchier... and very illegal.

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 05:31 PM

True, true. Plus you get a nice little explosion in your mouth. Just like gushers candy!
Still... You run the risk of the tiny animal fighting back and chewing on the inside of your mouth.

Mekatra 10-02-2019 05:34 PM

Or in the case of squids and octopus, suction cupping to your throat and suffocating you.

littl3chocobo 10-02-2019 05:44 PM

i mean, why not take a rock or sommat? if you are going to eat it then i think leaving it alive until the last moment might not do

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 05:46 PM

Which would at the very least give your family a great story to tell at gatherings, and your mortician a good laugh.

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 05:55 PM

I want my food fresh tho. Fresh and not dirtied by a rock. Got to clean the rock first!

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 06:28 PM

rocks. rocks. rocks.

gotta pick up the rocks.

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 06:34 PM

No. Put down the rocks, you don't know where they've been. Dirty, dirty rocks.

Stabbsworth 10-02-2019 06:40 PM

EATS THE ROCK

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 06:44 PM

...
Void, that's bad for your teeth and digestive track. Would you not rather have some tasty lamb chops.
-dangles lamb chops-

You just got to give me those rocks.

Mekatra 10-02-2019 07:26 PM

Birds eat small rocks to help with their digestion...

Death by Mirrors 10-02-2019 08:27 PM

Penguins pay other penguins with small rocks for sex.

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 08:55 PM

Are you two trying to tell me that Void is a penguin?

Mekatra 10-02-2019 08:58 PM

I'm not saying that Void isn't a penguin?

mdom 10-02-2019 10:18 PM

There is an old traditional story about a rock soup here.
Eaten by humans

Burnt Rice 10-02-2019 10:38 PM

Are you saying anything then?

Did those humans wash the rocks before making soup? Better have washed their rocks.

Ava 10-02-2019 11:02 PM

I meant to post here when this thread first came up!!
But I've since forgotten to, and have also been kinda busy and I saw it on mobile, but typing on mobile is a hassle.. ;u;
