― Hanako Ishii
Quote:

“Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.

It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.”
― Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space
Quote:

“Winter is coming.”

“There is no problem on earth that can't be ameliorated by a hot bath and a cup of tea.”
― Jasper Fforde, Shades of Grey

“As to diseases, make a habit of two things — to help, or at least, to do no harm.”
― Hippocrates

bath-
Quote:

“Taking one’s chances is like taking a bath, because sometimes you end up feeling comfortable and warm, and sometimes there is something terrible lurking around that you cannot see until it is too late and you can do nothing else but scream and cling to a plastic duck.”

Trees:

Quote:

In a forest of a hundred thousand trees, no two leaves are alike. And no two journeys along the same path are alike.
― Paulo Coelho, Aleph
Love:

Quote:

"Emori, you know you can correct your defects here."
"I would, if I had any."
― The 100, Red Sky At Morning
(context, if required: Emori was born with a mutation that leads her own people to cast her out and/or try to kill her. Then the moment she gets a chance to be like everyone else, she doesn't even feel the need to. Now if that's not a result of love, then I don't know what is. Doesn't even have to be romance here. Just the fact a healthy and positive self image isn't bought in the supermarket.)

Melancholy:

Quote:

Dogs were generally incompatible with melancholy.
― John Connolly, A Game of Ghosts
Food:

Quote:

"Don't order any of the faerie food," said Jace, looking at her over the top of his menu. "It tends to make humans a little crazy. One minute you're munching a faerie plum, the next minute you're running naked down Madison Avenue with antlers on your head. Not," he added hastily, "that this has ever happened to me."
— Cassandra Clare, City of Bones

Gallagher 02-26-2020 11:39 AM

Ruby 02-26-2020 11:40 AM

Haha yeah I had just gotten one of everything before the others were added xD I’m glad I’ve been able to get stuff for having just joined :3

Gallagher 02-26-2020 12:00 PM

i hope it'll be easier for the next event! but there will be a nice break after this one, good time to work on other item collections.

Ruby 02-26-2020 12:05 PM

Is there a set time for the next event?

I was just going thru the body shop and man xD I’m gonna be so broke lol gonna need to make a quest thread. I haven’t even tried to look thru the non-commons OTL

Gallagher 02-26-2020 12:27 PM

not set, no. us behind the scenes have a rough schedule that we try to stick to, but since this is a bit of a labor of love for us on staff, we occasionally have to skip releases until we're able to present them in a way we feel good about.

that being said, our next scheduled event is for april, so you have a whole month to get some questing done!

mdom 02-26-2020 12:33 PM

I love the two librarians so I won't be TOO mad that you added stuff last minute xD
