Ipod Nano D:

Do you guys remember the old iPod Nano? The long one before it got replaced with the touch screen square one. I can't find it on the apple site anymore or at walmart, target, and all those big company. What happen? Did apple decided that they don't want to have anything to do with it anymore? I'm just confuse.

Lucid: 11-27-2010 12:53 AM

There are a lot of "old" iPod nanos. my sister had the very first one, fat and with a tiny black and white screen. I have the one I think you're talking about. usually when a new one comes out, Apple stops selling it and all accessories for it, in order to encourage people to buy the new one. it's a sad thing, but it's one of those marketing tricks.

Coda 11-27-2010 04:48 PM

That was an iPod Mini, not an iPod Nano. The first-gen iPod Nano is the variety I have -- rectangular, fairly thin, white front, silver back, color screen. I've got the 1GB model.

Anyway, yes, Apple isn't manufacturing it anymore. The touch-screen Nano is the only Nano model currently in production.

Duchess 11-27-2010 07:40 PM

Touch screen is crap.. I don't NEED to touch my screen... leaving fingerprints and if it gets damaged you lose a 2-4-1. Lost visibility AND functionality. crap crap crap

I had a 1st gen NANO as well. 2GB i believe. It was silver and i put a glow in the dark skin over it. XDDD No colour if i remember xD but it had pretty cooool simple games... Then I upgrade to a 2nd gen 8 GB... cause i got more songs. It had the same games +1.... but UPGRADED. I didnt need them upgraded. =__= games i used to like, now give me a head ache

Coda 11-29-2010 12:40 PM

If it was silver it was probably a second-gen Nano. As far as I know the first-gen only came in white.

Maybe you should consider getting the iPod Classic. It has MUCH, MUCH higher storage capacity and it still uses the click wheel.

La Diablesse 11-29-2010 01:58 PM

It wasn't a colour. XDDD it was just... metal looking XDDDDD Very shiny.

And it can't be a 2nd gen, because as far as I know, the second gen got cut down shorter. I still have that in pink and the screen is in colour. Unless that a 3rd gen? auuu~ too much prooductsss T_T

MrEvergreen 11-29-2010 03:50 PM

To me, the iTouch is probably the best-all-around-performance product that you can get from Apple. Anything else will put a strain on you one way or the other (green dough issue excluded.) <<

The Nano was always in color even for the first-gen. You must be thinking of the Mini. The first-gen Mini had one color scheme that was just brushed metal and its screen was monochrome.

Lucid: 11-29-2010 04:44 PM

oh, was the fat one called a Mini? okay. it wasn't mine so I just thought it was a nano. but I suppose you're right - I do remember my mom having a 1st gen nano and being frustrated that none of the 2nd gen accessories fit it because the body was slightly less rounded on the 1st gen. the 3rd gen nanos were the ones that were short and ugly, and my tall purple one is 4th gen.

Coda 11-29-2010 06:01 PM

Yeah, the second-gen Nanos were the first ones to come in colors.

Duchess 11-29-2010 11:24 PM

mmm nooooo It wasnt a mini for sure. hmmm *googles*

http://eshop.macsales.com/images/Ite...wer/nano2.jpgp
^ It was that. Just silver and shiny. Not coloured pink or blue, just shiny silver.

Now I have this baby

Coda 11-30-2010 10:13 AM

Okay, then I was right, that is a second-gen Nano. I guess what confused me is that you meant that the body wasn't colored when you said "no colour" -- I thought you meant the screen was monochrome; the Nano has always had a color screen.

Devlyn 11-30-2010 12:56 PM

Only the new one is being made? Because I still see fifth gens in stores.

Coda 11-30-2010 03:02 PM

Back stock, to my knowledge. I don't believe you can still buy the 5th-gen from Apple.

Zypher 11-30-2010 04:15 PM

I have the same ipod as Coda, though mine is somewhat broken. It'll play, but won't turn off until the battery runs out so i have to keep it plugged in if i want to play it past it's battery life. But it's battery lasts a long time.

Coda 11-30-2010 05:46 PM

Mine will turn off (just hit the Sleep command on the main menu) but the lock switch is really sensitive -- it generally doesn't stay locked.

Lucid: 11-30-2010 05:51 PM

my mom has to reset hers all the time to get the click wheel to work. it stops responding a lot, but it's not too hard to reset either which is good.

Ginger 11-30-2010 07:09 PM

I've had my iPod Touch for nearly 3 years. It's a 2nd generation and I've had slight problems with it recently. It lags when I go to change the song and sometimes freezes. I've taken very good care of it since I got it in March of 2008. Since I got it, it's been in a sleeve so it's in pretty good condition on the outside.

PostLife 12-02-2010 11:15 AM

I go through iPods like candy .__.;
I've had 1st Gen - 4th Gen.
I currently have the new (4th Gen)iTouch.

Echo-chan713 12-04-2010 11:01 PM

I still have the ipod nano that is square and the commercial was the ipod nano getting flicked or moved but it would still be there with the song 1,2,3,4 by Fiest (hope I spelt her name right)

I think it's called Ipod nano video 3g

banana 12-07-2010 07:55 AM

I'm sure if you want the old gen of iPod nano you can get it in eBay or Amazon or sites like that! and it will be way cheaper!
And also in Apple store they still sell this one:
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...mco=OTY2ODY2NQ
so you see! not too late! you can still get it! haha

I had iPod Mini and it was horrible, after a year I had to change the battery because it just died! D:
Then I got iPod classic.. old version of 60GB or so! it was good but after 2 years I don't know why one headphone just died (not the headphone but you know.. anything i plugged in just sounded one side! LOL) When I opened to repare it I just broke the screen so i bought iPod Touch! And I'm super happy with it! (it fell into the sink full of water the first month! speakers died but the other stuff is still perfect!) So you see! it's strong! hahaha

My earphones do that all the time so I just buy new ones. It's maybe because the wire for the one speaker of the earphone died or broke by manhandleing it or blasting the music too loud.

But it's mostly from the wire being broken.

Duchess 12-08-2010 06:48 PM

EVERY earphones dies on one side first @.@ I swear they manufacture them to do that quickly so that you'd buy more.

Echo-chan713 12-08-2010 08:25 PM

Or because their cheap ones

Duchess 12-08-2010 08:26 PM

mm no.. NO matter which kind of headphones I use, INCLUDING my mega studio headphones... one side always dies first. OTL

Echo-chan713 12-09-2010 02:02 PM

tru...my favorite one were the m&m earphones licensed by M&M and they died in October then I had to rush to Sports Authority and get a pair of black one & those are the ones I still have now.

I used to have the colored ipod nano (the first ones or second ones) but someone stole it because my teacher told m to leave it there because he wanted to talk to me, then when I came back it was gone I was pissed off then I told security and they said that they can't do anything about it because no one would return an ipod and the fact that the area has no security cameras whatsoever.

Then I got the video ipod nano, I like the last one but they discontinued them, and I've had the ipod video ever since which is 4 years old now and never died on me. Now i want those ipod touch cause its cool and its sad that I'm behind on technology alot I mean like all of my friends have internet on their phones and have the ipod toch and I don't and my mom always pitches a fit about me bringing up the fact that I'm not really fitting in with my friends technologically. Her philisophy is that if it's still working and you still have it, I'm not getting a new one.

I still need an upgrade on my phone to a nice droid or a smartphone.

Coda 12-09-2010 02:51 PM

Well, yeah, of course, if you have two things one of them HAS to fail first, and one of them HAS to fail second. It doesn't matter what they are; SOMETHING has to come first. The only way both sides of a pair of headphones will fail at the same time is if you break the wire.

Echo-chan713 12-09-2010 07:24 PM

had happened it sucked but they were $1 headphones

banana 12-10-2010 03:22 PM

nono but i meant that it was not the headphone! it was the ipod!
i mean.. the headphones in other devices worked well! T 3T

Echo-chan713 12-10-2010 03:40 PM

oh ok

RedRum 01-24-2011 03:40 AM

Have you tried a place such as Amazon? I find when all else fails Amazon will not. I found a gameboy color gameshark there years ago when those can not be found in stores. I only found one in Kmart years ago and our local Kmart has since been replaced by Kohle's.

DVD's I can not find in stores, usually Target or Best Buy, Amazon comes through.

Anything you can't find in stores, especially older out of date items can always be found on Amazon.

Ae86 03-24-2011 08:43 PM

I still got my original Ipon nano 1st gen.. Work's great. And it is one durable thing. Mines so original its only holds 1gb of music lol...

Batty 03-24-2011 08:50 PM

Discontinued. I have the old nano, 4th generation, I think.
As soon as a new iPod model comes out, they'll normally discontinue the old ones from the stores.

Your best bet would be ebay, or craigslist, or something like that.

Illusion 05-19-2011 12:50 AM

What I hate about ipods is that they keep getting new generations that everything old becomes..Well unusable.

Batty 05-19-2011 10:49 PM

My sister has the one you do. Except its gray.. or black.. whatever that in-between color is. She had major problems with it, as well. Had to return in 4 times. xD; The on/off switch kept getting stuck. -huggles her baby- Never had that issue with mine. <3

zombiefluff 05-20-2011 12:52 AM

I'm a fan of the new itty bitty shuffle...
not for functionality but how adorable it is///
(obsessed with the little things in life)

Taiki 05-20-2011 01:13 AM

I miss my old ipod Nano! D: It was a nice color green but my brother took it after I got a new blue one that I got for my birthday (I put a blue zebra print case on it so it looks cool now. xD). I'm not sure what kind it is but it was the style made before the touch screen ones. I didn't really like the metallic style of coloring. @o@

Chi 05-20-2011 03:23 AM

I have a first or second generation iPod Nano.
The battery is slowly starting to get worse.
Mine has 8 GB and is black.
I'm not really sure if it has 8 GB or not but that's what it says on the back. xD;

Batty 05-21-2011 10:54 AM

They usually cheat you out of about a gig or so. xD;

When they say you've got 16 [like mine has] you really only have 15. Sometimes 15.5... its the weirdest thing.

Madam Kira 05-21-2011 11:44 AM

The Wal-Mart where I live still has the Nano, though it's a video and in color. xDD
