Disappearing threads?
Recently, I wanted to look up Zypher's freebie thread, but I couldn't find it, sadly. But I paid not much attention to it, assuming she has deleted it. And maybe it's really not connected to my case, but... Today, I wanted to move up my rp search thread, since I ddin't want to discuss some things anymore in my rp pet profile thread.... But I couldn't find it! I made sure that all threads from the beginning are displayed and then went to the statistics -> threads I have made, but it wasn't there either! And it's not even the oldest thread I have started and not posted in, that it could be deleted in the clean up. AND it was there few days, maybe a week, ago.
I am really confused and kinda sad. >: |
I think if Forums go unused for too long they poof.
No, we don't have any automatic pruning in effect. That's rather curious.
The plot thickens o.o
Weird. D: Me wants my thread back, lol. Though, I suppose I could make a new one, but still...
perhaps during the server change?
The server change didn't cause any data loss except for accidentally rolling back some avatars, and that was my fault, not the fault of the switch.
Sadrain, can you tell me more about the thread so I can see if perhaps it was moved somewhere? |
It was One x One RP searc thread, places in OOC section of Roleplayer's Realm. Sure, it was one of the oldest threads there, but I had psoted in it, maybe month or less ago ina attempt to attract more attention to it. It had one or two pages.
I recently made another OOC thread, but I though there wasn't limit of how many you could have in that forum? The other, you see, was required as breedable adopted pet profile thread (Pets adopted here: http://trisphee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2669 ), so I thought one's presence didn't lock out other's. |
Can you give me some words that might have been in the topic or in the first post?
It was titled Rain's One x One RP search, I think, or something like that, and there was stuff about RPing. I think I mentioned that English is not my Native language. o3o
Found it. It got pruned. Not sure when or by whom but I'll restore it for you.

Thank you very very very much, Coda. C:
made it's the same mysterious pruning that seems to have cut out some more OC search threads (we had more than the first page week ago, I am pretty sure) and hides people on member list? XD EDIT: o3o I now looked in OOC section again and it has two pages again.. XD Weird. |
I don't believe I deleted my thread or moved it. I just haven't posted in it in a long time.
But I can't find it. D:
Seems it was binned. That's where I found it anyway. I might have done it and not recall.
By the way, i found your search thread. It was on page two of OOC in roleplay.. http://www.trisphee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812
If that's the one you were looking for. |
Yup, Coda restored it for me, he said it had been binned, too. o3o;
I remember one of our mods talking about binning threads but this was a long time ago, like at least over a month ago. I'll tell you though, it was not me. o-o |
I dont think we will be binning anything below the news and announcements from now on unless its spam and or required to be locked.
That's good to know. C: I msut admit I was pretty surprised at this. ^^;
By the way, all exchange threads whose post past was before 24th November, disappeared, too, and Lucid and Demonskid, and Sei disappeared from user lists. JSYK.
My photo topic got deleted too ;O But oh well that's okay.
-=What you're allergic to cats?...=- http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l7...ividerLong.jpg same thing happened to my threads... PMed Fen-Fen regarding it... http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l7...otes/Stare.png http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l7...ividerLong.jpg -=It's alright, I'm allergic to you...=- |
If there is a thread you'd like back, PM me. I'm restore it for you. But you need to post in it or it will disappear. And yes, we know Rainy. When they were added to staff their "visibility" disappeared. The same thing happened with the NPCs, the NPCs was on purpose, this was not. Anyone who has been moved from one user group to another will no longer appear on the index. Look at "Forum Leaders" on the index if you want to see if a certain staff member is online. |
I know I can do it, but it feels strange... And when Sakura disappeared, she wasn't Staff yet. It's kinda problematic, when you want to look at post counts and such.
I have seen quite a few threads disappear, actually. Artist Borough got cleaned up, too. >: And like I mentioned, Exchanges have/had lost all threads prior to certain date. (though there clean up was a good thing) |
We understand the frustration with disappearing threads, but as Chi said, you really need to post in these threads if you want to keep them alive.
I hate bumping threads up, it seems to beat the purpose, of say, a discussion thread or a thread I simply haven't had anything to add/no one ever came in and was interested in it. Sooo, it doesn't always work. ^^;
And about RP threads - it seems unconvential to bump it up if I am NOT looking for a RP at that time and just as much as to write everything over. ^^; Just my opinion, of course. And I understand that it can't be fixed immediately, just expressing my thoughts. |
We understand that. What we're really saying is that we don't promise to keep anything around -- it's all just a convenience to you, the users, and if you really care about something you should keep your own copies because we're not responsible for data loss.
If you want a thread you lost and are actually going to post in it, then PM me about it including the title of the thread. You'll get your thread back if you actually post in it, if you just want it back for the sake of having it, then it'll likely be lost again. For example like you said with the RP thread, when you're ready to RP with someone and you've found that your old thread was lost and you would like it back, let one of us know and we'll restore it. |
