Favorite Childhood Movies

Here, you can talk about your favorite movies growing up.

I was a disturbing child. Up until I was about four, the Hellraiser movies were my favorite. I grew out of the phase and started to like what all of the other good little boys and girls my age did.

Some of my favorites were, and still are:

A Goofy Movie
First Kid
Tarzan (1999 Disney version)
Richie Rich
Stuart Little
Antz
Blank Check
A Bug's Life
Matilda
Space Jam
The Lion King 1 & 2
Aladdin
Home Alone 1 & 2

aaand I'll add to this list whenever I think of others~

Movies added:
My Neighbor Totoro

The Lion King
My Neighbor Totoro
Labyrinth
I loved watching most of my Disney VHS movies. Can't really list them all.
I actually can't remember a lot of my favorite movies. xD

Echo-chan713 01-18-2011 12:54 AM

It was The Little Mermaid Disney version

Agent Night 01-20-2011 07:56 PM

Good chunk of the Disney movies (Aladdin, Lion King, etc.)

I distinctly remember liking Independence Day, The Producers, Monty Python's Holy Grail, Rocky Horror...My parents watched a lot of movies with me as a kid

Arachnocampa 01-31-2011 06:23 AM

The Little Mermaid (I wanna rewatch it so bad! Haven't seen it in forever! >< )
The Lion King 1 & 2
Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Mulan
All Dogs Go to Heaven

I'm definitely missing some. >:1
I didn't appreciate some of them until I grew older, though, an example being Tarzan. I didn't like the gorillas or something. (I had something against sapiens?) And unfortunately I wasn't introduced to Miyazaki until later.

All my favorite childhood movies involved Disney. I loved Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Aladdin, Pinocchio, Bambi, and a bunch of others. I'm still a Disney fan and I'm going to collect all the movies for myself and no one else. XD

I watch the Little Mermaid 2.

We had no parental control over what we shold watch so when I was 8-10 I was watching Jerry Springer. ANd alot of PG13 rated R movie when I was 5-8.

Booga 03-31-2011 11:53 AM

Anything related to old school disney animation were basically my favorite childhood movies. I'm especially very fond of The hunchback of notre dame. Man frollo was one sick twisted dude. =0 Strangely enough I still kinda like the guy >_>;

Fey 04-04-2011 11:17 PM

Wow, I was apparently an odd child. Some of the first movies(besides disney ones) I recall watching were allllllllll the James Bond movies. I think I was 8 when I went a three day marathon with my dad watching them all. OH, and the original Indiana Jones movies...saw Temple of Doom and didn't sleep at ALL even on a trans-pacific flight. I however was NOT a fan of ET...I apparently ran screaming from the theater and to this day cannot watch it past a certain point.

Ashley 04-07-2011 01:24 AM

Some of the ones I liked were:
the aristocats
my neighbor totoro
cinderella(disney)
snow white(disney)
bambi
fox and the hound
tarzan
george of the jungle
pretty much.. mostly disney movies

Ae86 04-07-2011 02:06 AM

Homealone 1 and 2. For sure. Macaulay Culkin was a good actor in those movies. Of course now he's... different.

Otouto 04-11-2011 09:51 PM

All those movies you said Ginger bring back fond memories. xD
When I was really young I watched flubber all the time. I don't remember much about it now.
I suppose one of these days i'll have to go digging for my old tapes.

Serra Britt 04-12-2011 10:56 PM

One that comes to mind immediately is the Chipmunks movie, as well as the Care Bears movie...I bought them a couple years ago when I found them on DVD :3 I also remember really liking Tron (the original of course, I was a child a loooong time ago lol).

Jack Pillow Button 04-16-2011 04:26 AM

The one to rule them all:
Lion King

yari 04-16-2011 10:13 AM

Nanka 04-29-2011 10:10 PM

Old school Disney movies were my favorite. The Little Mermaid is still my favorite Disney movie and I have several Disney posters and things on my Wall.

One great movie that isn't Disney, which I have a poster of, is Anastasia. <3

Demonskid 04-30-2011 02:05 AM

Power Rangers The Movie
Robin Hood (disneys animated fox version)
Lion King
Cinderella

OxO

CupcakeDolly 04-30-2011 03:13 AM

Like most kids, I loved pretty much every Disney movie. Also, I picked up the movie "Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland" a little while ago - man, I missed that movie! Haven't seen it since I was like 6!

Quiet Man Cometh 05-06-2011 09:49 PM

The Last Unicorn.

That would be the front runner for favourite childhood movie for sure. I remember this one video rental place (yup. Video. Betamax even!) that had it and I remember always looking for it, placed conveniently at four year old head height. I was extatic when I found it on DvD a few years back. I still love it.

Speaking of Disney, one of my favourite things when I was young was watching Wonderful World of Disney, something my mom used to watch too back when TV was mostly black and white and there was only one channel. I loved the mini cartoons like Chip & Dale and the Donald and Mickey shorts,. They also had little musical montages with video clips. I remember two in particular, Wierd Al's "Eat It" with a clip of goofy trying to eat a huge sandwhich and his jaw dropping all the way to accomodate the thing; and Kenny Roger's "Lady" which had all the heart breaking clips like when Lady slams Tramp out of her dogs house and when the caetoon heart shatters into little pieces when Daisy leaves Scrooge in the old Disney Christmas carol.

Sarah 05-18-2011 01:58 AM

The lion king had to be one of my top favorites.. Tarzan was a cute movie too felt sad for him, his parents..what happened to them was sad. wow makes me wanna watch a disney movie right now! sadly, i need to go to bed though ^^; I told my bf i was and now its about to be 1... soooo imma try to get off here then go maybe eat something and head to bed. :D <3 anyways, yeah.. lots of others i could think of. soooo many its so hard..

Suzerain of Sheol 05-19-2011 11:09 AM

The Flight of Dragons which remains my favorite movie to this day.

I also had a strange obsession with the hilariously-awful Wizards of the Lost Kingdom 2, and just terrible fantasy films in general.

Sadrain 05-19-2011 04:17 PM

Hmm, I recall I really loved Paulie as a child. xD

Reyoki 05-19-2011 07:50 PM

I loved the hell out of all Hayao Miyazaki's films, but my two favorites are still My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service!

Lucid: 05-20-2011 01:18 PM

I loved all the Disney musicals as a kid. but Hercules was one of my all-time-favorites ever.
my mom also tells me that when I was really little, I did a happy-dance every time she put in a Barney movie for me. XD

Desmond 05-20-2011 02:10 PM

Lion King. It was the first one I saw in theaters. And I wore out the VHS...it's warped now and it sounds all funny. I found a copy at a tag sale last summer for a quarter and snatched it up. If I only had it on DVD I would be watching it ALL the time.

Quiet Man Cometh 05-21-2011 12:23 AM

I watched Flight of Dragons a couple times but I was a teenager by then. I thought the science behind the ideas was kind of interesting. I noticed one of the younger art class students did a "make a species" project and essentially jacked the features from the movie for their dragon critter. My friend had it on the same tape as "Wizards" which was another oddball cartoon though not really for kids.

I usually like the Disney cartoons but Hercules just make me peeved because it mangled the Greek myths so much. Apparently Greece thought so too, as I heard Disney had to formally apologize to the nation for the movie.

Batty 05-21-2011 10:36 AM

SPACE JAM! Holy beans, that was one of mine too. xDD;

When I was a kid, I didn't watch too many movies.. and if I did, I don't remember. My Grandpa was an avid Disney collector, though. So I had watched/owned ALL of those movies during my growing up process. xD; I mostly just watched TV... Pokemon, Sailor Moon...

Hiccup 05-26-2011 05:07 PM

For me, forever winners would be:

Bicentennial Man
Hook
Twister
Pocahontas
Aristocats
Wyatt Earp
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Obviously most of those are pretty adult but we have laser disk and when I was very young I used to watch those non-cartoon ones all the time. Those started my love for film score, even though I never knew what it was called for many years. But I've always been able to recall the exact scenes that particular score pieces are played in. Heck, all that might even be the source of my music passion and playing.

Quiet Man Cometh 05-26-2011 11:21 PM

I didn't bump into Myazaki until I was near 20, but I still love them though. I watched most of my childhood movies on betamax :p. I remember one of my favourites being "The Man from Button Willow" I think it was called, and I still remember portions of it. Sadly, it died with the beta as we never did find an upgraded copy.

FaceMeetsPalm 06-22-2011 06:36 PM

Childhood movies... Goodness. I used to watch Bambi every day as a child. My mom still complains about watching his mother die every day for three years. I love movies with songs I've heard before. Atlantis was fun, as was Prince of Egypt. Milo and Otis was another favorite. =) My best friend owns it now, so I'm happy.

Claire 06-23-2011 03:45 AM

I grew up watching all the Disney movies. The old classic ones. ^^
I liked Snow White and Alice in Wonderland the most. Best movies ever. C: <3

Kotetsu 06-24-2011 10:36 AM

My all time favourite "childhood" movie is The Lion King.

I had to buy the DVD for about 70$ on eBay because they weren't sold in Germany anymore :<
Now they're bringing out a new version of the Blu-Ray/DVD, though.
But ah well, I spent that much money, at least I have the "first edition" xD

Madam Kira 06-24-2011 12:18 PM

Pocahontas and The Lion King were my absolute favorites!!
I would watch them all the time, until my mom took the movies and hid them. xDD

8bit 06-24-2011 01:35 PM

Spongebob Square Pants the Movie xD

Vanitas 06-24-2011 01:54 PM

I grew up watching the Disney movies too! xD My favorite would have to be Cinderella. I loved Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, the 101 Dalmatians, and all that :P

animeloverluna 06-24-2011 07:50 PM

101 dalmations

Kalei 06-25-2011 11:26 PM

A few of my favorites were Rock a Doodle, Mulan, Who Framed Rodger Rabbit, and Aladin.

Nefer 06-26-2011 05:18 AM

The Lion King, definitely (spelling? xD) the Lion King! I used to watch it countless times when I was younger, and even now I squeeled when I saw, on a movie preview, that it would come out this automn in better quality (blue ray if I remember corrrectly)

Feythfull 07-01-2011 06:01 PM

my favorite movie as a child was the brave little toasted. there was also one summer we watched the lion king once a day lol
