Time to get started! ^^

Calder sighed, exhaling a stream of bubbles in frustration. He was hiding in a small cavern in hopes that the guards would not find him. He had no intention of ever going back to that place; let the kingdom find a new ruler. They would be way better off without Calder. Breaking free from his little path of self pity, he let his eyes, as blue as the ocean itself, wander towards the surface of the water where the sun reflected off. He liked how it looked, the gentle ripple, the fish lazily drifting here and there, and the occasional legged-being splashing through. It was his secret spot in the ocean, close enough to the shore to see these fascinating creatures, yet far enough away that no one could ever see him. He could do this; he could leave everything behind him, but he was a little nervous. Calder had never run away before, and this first time was for good. He wasn't sure what would happen and the uncertainty was nerveracking. Calder sunk down lazily in the under-water cave, letting his stress leave his body with another long breath.

The blue haired prince had begun to drift off into a dreamless sleep. It had begun quite warm and comfortable in that secret place, and he was able to successfully shut out the entire world around him. That is, until the blissful peace of the ocean was rudely interupted by a splash. Calder groaned and turned his head, slowly opening up his eyes. He could not believe what he saw! A legged-creater was so close to him in the water! He poked his head out the cave to get a closer look. The two-legged looked male, but he was not quite sure how their genders worked; it was a completely different species after all.
Calder cautiously swam out farther, closing in the space between them. It did not seem to be moving, but he was not sure if they were supposed to. Deciding to act on his instincts, the prince grabbed this new creature and dragged him to a rocky cave just on the shore. The water went into the cave, but there was enough room for a person to stay, so Calder managed, with all his strength, to place the two-legged on the land. He then proceeded to poke its side, noticing that it felt strangely like his own. He backed up and lowered himself back into the water, leaving his eyes just above the surface to watch.

Calder watched as the two-legged coughed and sat up. Then his eyes widened when it addressed him; he could actually undertand him! How could this creature speak mertounge so fluently? It was extremely baffling. Perhaps the language of the two-legged was similar to mertounge? But, how could that be when the two worlds had always been seperate until now? A grin spread across his nearl perfectly sculptd lips as he slowly realized he could communicate with this amazing creature. he inched forward and raised his head out of the water, allowing him to speak.
"You...you can speak my language?" His voice suprised him; he'd never spoken above water before, and it had come out sounding like a low bell, although breathless.

Calder tilted his head to the side in slight confusion. It was obvious that this two-legged had no idea of the merpeople. "Well, you are speaking in mertounge. Although it is a rather strange dialect that I have never heard. No, you are not dead and my name is Calder of the Merrick palace," he responded. He rally hated how his tone always sounded so formal, but that was what he got for being royalty he assumed. He looked up at the strange being in front of him and looked at its face. It was most definately male, he decided. "And now, may I ask you what your name is?"

Calder smiled. "Hmm, Cedric is a nice name. It is not too prestegious and it is not peasant-like. It is a fitting choice. And yes, the Palace of Merrick is my home, well it was, but that does not matter. I must cease using that name at once," he replied, shifting his gaze to the shivers of this creature. "Are you cold? I do not feel the temperature outside of this water." He paused, thinking more into it. "Speaking of which, why were you in that water? The two-legged do not usually inhabit these waters at this time of year." It was a rather strange time to go in the water. The sand was white with a cold parcipitation that made no sense to him, but he knew enough to notice the seasonal habits of the two-legged.

Calder blinked a couple of times, trying to make sense of the statement. "Sleep? I am not sure the two-legged 'sleep' in the ocean. Do you not have a home to sleep in?" He knew that was a little personal to ask, but he could not help it. Merpeople were curious by instinct. He noticed the color of his lips and his eyes widened once more. He knew that could not be good, even with the merpeople it was not a good sign. "We should get you to a warm place...umm...Cedric. Although I am not sure where a warm place for a two-legged would be." Calder looked around him, wondering what could keep his new companion warm, but it was a fruitless effort. He would have to try elsewhere.

Calder was not sure what to do. He had never met anyone who had wanted to die before. The ways of the two-legged were strange, he thought to himself. He looked at the boy, seeming to zone in and out of conciousness, and decided to once again take action. "We must hurry to get you somewhere warm," he stated, grabbing Cedric and plulling back in the water. He knew he could swim extremely fast, but he was not sure if he would be able to with this extra weight on him. As it turned out, he was quite able to bring the two-legged to the shore on the beach. It was not that far from the cave actually. Calder sunk back into the water to let his fins remain hidden from the boy.

Calder looked at the shivering boy with curious eyes. He hoped that Cedric was okay; it would be a shame to lose his first two-legged friend. "Are you alright over there?" He called to the boy, hoping to get a positive response in return. Calder really wished he could get up on that sand, but it was physically impossible for him.

Calder looked at the beach and sighed. "I cannot get up there," he stated, gazing longingly at that shoreline, however cold. It would be a miracle if he could grow legs and walk up there with him. But sadly, no such magic existed, not that he knew of anyway. "You should go to a warm place, Cedric," he ordered lightly. Finding somewhere warm should have been the two-legged's first priority.

Calder tilted his head. No place warm? Did he not have a home? What a strange thing this was, he though. Perhaps the two-legged were not as advanced as the merpeople, and their homes were not warm. He just did not know. He looked up the boy on the land and sighed. "I do not have two legs like you. Therefore I cannot walk on the land," he stated, earning a very confused look from Cedric.

Calder raised an eyebrow at the bow, releasing the boy and letting him on the sand. He had absolutely no clue what this two-legged was talking about. It should have been obvious that he could not grow legs. "No I cannot. You see, no such magic exists on this planet. I am stuck forever in this ocean," he said, looking at Cedric with a bit of sadness visible in his eyes. "I wish I could join you on the sand with all of my heart." He lifted his tail up, letting the deep blue scales glisten in the winter sunlight.

Calder shrank back into the water at this sudden outburst. Honestly, it scared him a bit. "It is not a joke," he mumbled into the oceam water. "You are not dead nor is this a dream. This is truth, and my curse. And, for the record, I am not a 'mermaid', I am a merman." He looked down into the sea, wondering if he had said too much, and he if he should leave. He looked up at a freaked-out Cedric, worrying make his way into Calder's eyes. "Perhaps I should leave." He turned around, ready to dive back into the water.
