Do you use smiley in almost all your posts?
 

I feel the same way actually. I've noticed that I do it a lot lately and I even annoy myself with it sometimes because no matter how much I tell myself not to do them as much as I have been, I do.

XD this one, and @u@ and =_+, but mainly just XD all the time.

I use :3 a stupid amount and some of the other ones I use a lot are x'D >_< and O_O

I have a variety of emoticons I use, but the most common set would be >.>, ^^;, :P, and XD, meaning "slightly evasive", "slightly embarrassed or sheepish", "kidding/teasing/being silly", and "highly amused". I'll occasionally use :x to also mean "embarrassed or sheepish" but I've been moving away from that one because it seems that interpretation of it varies too much.

Lucid overuses XD, C:, :C, :3, and ;o;.
Lucid also likes to use ;~~~;, ^o^, :'D, >.>, and x3.

I use quite a few emotes, actually!

But the most common one I use is "<3"!

I also like "xD", which to me is more a filler when I'm not sure what else to say (obligatory emote?) then a way of saying I think something is funny. (I sometimes put 'lol', too, even though I don't think anything is funny.)

I also use ^^; when I'm feeling sheepish, or ^_^ when I am sarcastically smiling. If I am actually trying to be happy or nice, I'll use C:. (Ohhh, we have learned the language of the Uke!)

Yes, most of the time I use this smiley: ^_^ cause it is my favorite smile. ^_^

In my opinion, in non-formal writing, emoticons really help get the point across, as long as you stick with the common set that everyone understands -- going for more unusual ones, on the other hand, obscures the meaning. It helps make up for the lack of vocal inflection in the words.

I love smilies, but I prefer when their in text mode and don't look like this ---> :D

But my main thing I end up doing a lot is saying "haha" in a lot of my posts, cause in reality I laugh and smile a lot, so the haha suits me.

I usually do post alot of emotes when chatting in the forums XD. I wouldn't call this a smiley but I like the domokun emotes and look of dissaproval. ---> ಠ_ಠ
