Storms, Okay. Wait...Tornadoes?!
Yeah, so, where I live tornadoes never hit, and I mean NEVER. My mom in her 37 years of life doesn't remember once hitting, and my great-grandma doesn't ever remember one hitting us. Then today, WHAM. 3 at once. Where I live specifically wasn't hit, but surrounding areas where hit pretty bad. And power was out for a while. In Alabama, storms are pretty common, but in my city, a tornado, is just unheard of. Anyway it was kind of an unexpected surprised... Had any bad weather in your area lately?? Does anyone have a phobia of tornadoes like I do?? Any good surprises lately?? >.< |
There was a chance of tornadoes where I live, about a month ago, haha...
Since when do you hear of even the possibility of tornadoes in CALIFORNIA. BAY AREA. "Tornado warning....? Are you sure they're talking about here?" |
I grew up for a while in the Pacific, so I have lived through Typhons, floods, and tsunamis. We then moved to the desert for sand storms, then the eastern US and got hurricanes and tornadaos. I'm now in the rockies and get blizzards and floods and avalanches...pretty much all I've missed out on are volcaonos so not much freaks me out. I do admit though that I haaaaaaaaate it when the power goes out, whether in bad storms or just overuse of the grid. If it happens at night when I'm awake I sort've flip out, but during the day I have to go outside and be in the sun/light.

Binghamton, Alabama? o uo
I was watching that on the news earlier, there was a footage showing the city and the huge tornado behind it. xD There's also a tornado watch for western/central New York, and while that's not impossible, it's also rare. xD our lands aren't flat enough for a tornado to form, but it can in some country lands. |
I'm in Missouri and the last few days have been heavy rain and a LOT of lightning. There's even ben some flooding in the shallower areas, especially around the lakes >< It's been kind of scary having a week's worth of flood warnings :(

down south of here a few months ago a tornado hit one of the beach towns, everyone was like "has there even ever been a tornado recorded in australia?" ><

Where I live...storms, tornadoes, and/or typhoons are so common, we dance in it. XD Nope, it's not Florida. But even if it's already that common, I'm still afraid it gets stronger and bigger. |
Taki - I take it you mean Birmingham, Alabama? o.o Yeah, that's really close to where I live, though most of my family live in B-ham. That tornado was HUGE, I watched it all the way until my power went out. xD |
New Hampshire is part of the New England area we get storms up the wazoo in winter, just look up a Noreaster. Back in late 08 I think we had an ice storm so bad that over 3-400,000 people lost power that is most of New Hampshire D8
It was like a mini apocalypse almost nowhere had power even gas stations. One gas station in 3 surrounding cities worked. It also had to pump gas at like a third the normal speed, and there were lines for it from both directions for 2 or 3 blocks. |
Oh yes, I do. xD there's a city in NY nearby called Binghamton so I got the name messed up.
You actually saw it? @___@ wow~ I was just reading up the news about the severe storms the east coast have been getting and all those tornados, and we haven't gotten those in a long time. 200+ dead from it, and so much disaster. D8 how's the area where you live looking? |
I basically live in Tornado Valley so I suppose I'm used to them lol
It's been hot lately and then there were random storms with hail for about three days, and today was actually cold till around 2 and now it's melting hot D': |
I didn't actually see it live, I just was watching it on the news. xD Over here I received nothing but wind, rain, and debris. But I do plan on volunteering this weekend to help with the damage cleanup. Fizzyology - Tornado Valley?? o.o That sounds like great tornado weather. Time to get in your safe place. >.< |
A tornado passed through last night about fifteen minutes north of where I live. It went straight through the center of town, demolishing everything. I've seen a lot of severe weather, but this is by far the worst thing I've ever seen around here. Search and rescue efforts are underway and a lot of people reported missing still haven't been located. I've tried to get in on the rescue effort myself, but that's rather difficult given my work schedule.

I haven't had any bad weather lately. Just nice weather. I love it when it rains. <3

There was a tornado warning in Colorado like 3 years ago. All I remember was that I was a mental institution playing Scrabble with patients that were scared to death (one person was in a fetal position holding onto her blanket) out in the middle of the hallway.
At least it was better than my school which is there's no room that doesn't have windows and glass. |
We live close perhaps.
What was it...3 that went through? Power went out. OF COURSE, me being me, before the power went out Office Depot called saying my computer was ready so in between squalls I pretty much drove out to get it. xD Legit awesome. |
I live in Kentucky and we've had some really bad storms, tornado watches, and tornado warnings. Everyone keeps saying there's too many hills for a tornado here, but I don't know. On Wednesday there was a crazy bad storm while we were at school and we were all downstairs due to a tornado warning. Last week there wasn't a tornado, but a "straight wind" of 80 to 120 mph knocked over some semis and damaged a few buildings not far from here. They thought a tornado did it at first since it was at night and such. My power, and a lot of other people's, went out that night. They had the sirens sounding and I woke up like 10 minutes before my power went out.
I was curious so I looked up the biggest tornados that happened near where I lived. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/ourhisto...n-april-’74/ They happened in 1974, apparently it was a huge tornado outbreak, kidn of like the one now http://news.yahoo.com/s/ac/20110427/...irmed_storms_1 Quote:

Blaine - xDD That's a great reason to go out in a storm. xD Syric - Goodness. o.o Seems like tornadoes have been hitting quite a few people. Booga - Lucky. >> |
It's still snowing here off and on, and it's Spring. The snow was supposed to be melted... like a month ago.
