Avatar changing...
It takes so so so long for me to switch from tab to tab, and sometimes open stuff as well...Maybe half a minute for each tab/item? Is anyone else having this issue?
Yeah its a common issue we are working on it, main problem being server capability and not having enough to update it yet.
Okies, thanks, Fen-fen. Chasm doesn't have this issue, so I was wondering if it was just my connection.
Is it like a bug?
Sort of. At a technical level it's not a bug, since it does actually WORK, but there's a performance problem with dealing with large numbers of items.
My connection has been iffy quite often though the usual snag I have is my avatar not saving properly, or recording some changes but not others. I've tried refreshing, clearing my browser cache, logging out and logging in again, turning my connection on and off and it still tends to be luck of the draw whether or not it decides to cooperate. For some reason, adding stuff isn't usually a big deal. It's changing items or taking them off that seems to be the most trouble at times.
Usually when a change doesn't save it's because the avatar editor is being slow and you've switched tabs too quickly. Given that this is the problem, none of those workarounds will help; however, one that will help is to wait a little while before switching tabs after changing an item.
Ah. Thanks Coda. I'll keep that in mind. :)
I haven't had that problem, but i have had the trouble of the pages of the site taking like . . . 10 min to load up, no joke. I don't think it's a connection problem as my connection's always been fine when i checked but i could be wrong. Has anybody else had that? Everything's been normal and then suddenly the page won't load up.
The only time I've ever seen it take that long is during the nightly maintenance, when we run some database cleanups and a backup; the site gets really sluggish around this time (if I recall correctly it's 3 AM Eastern time), but we picked that time because that's when we have the least activity during the day.
Well yes, me too. I think it's just the format or something in the code that makes it open slow, that or its made to be quick on SOME system and not a COMMON system. So idk.
The problem is that Trisphee has grown since the code was written. When it was in development it did all right, but each time someone with a very large inventory edits their inventory it slows down the avatar editor for everyone for a couple minutes. If you have a fairly small inventory (maybe 100-200 items) and you're editing your avatar during Trisphee's idle hours you'll see that it runs reasonably well.
I know how it's going to be fixed but it's a lot of work so I won't have a finished product to give to you guys for a while. |
so basically it's folk like me with 1500+ items that ruin it for everybody? >.>
sorry guys. |
Ya Lucid, it's all your fault!
*whips with a feather* Take your punishment! |
It does get frustrating putting on an item, clicking a tab, and that item is no longer on. And vise versa XD
usually if you just give it a few seconds in between each change its fine
I had a slight issue with this, as well.
But it seems to be all fixed nao. <3 |
At times it takes me a couple of time for it to get it righteven after I cleaned all of my cookies and caches
Clearing your cache will actually make it worse by making your browser have to redownload everything.
Clearing your cookies won't do anything. The issue is just with the sheer amount of traffic moving around, and the only thing you as a user can do is be patient. I've got some server-side stuff I'm working on but it's pretty hefty and won't be ready for a while. |
I don't have this problem as much but I can understand how you feel about most things. But it will get better I know that much. But like Ashy said give it a few with in each post and it will be find. Some time I just run off do something else till then, it helps some.
Thanks i was having same problem, all good now
Yeah, like Nikko said, I have developed the habit of keeping two Trisphee tabs up. I equip items, go make a post, switch to a different tab in the avatar maker, go make another post while it loads, equip my items, go make another post, go back and switch tabs again, et cetera. that way I also don't loose track of the conversations I'm in either. :3
My main problem is, sometimes if I take an item off because I want a different colour in that item, when I go to click it back on, the little thing keeps saying "loading" and I have to close out and come back to it.
I have more of a problem with the item staying on after I've taken it off. I've just gotten used to equipping another item and then taking both of them off at the same time. Sometimes it works right away, other times it takes a few tries...^^;;
Sometimes it works pretty well for me and other times it's slower
