Fire!

Ok.. So, I leave the computer to go get a sprite and tell mom happy mothers day yea? well.. I open my door and something smells like its burning! D8

I call out to my mom "What's Burning?" and she says "nothing, Or I hope it ain't burning" *yes we use the word AIN'T* I go out to the kitchen and tell her to check on it..

She opens the microwave door and SMOKE poors out. I'm all, OxO faced and told her it burned.. The box was burned.. even My paper towel to keep my hot pockets from sticking to the plate was burned..

I read the instructions on the box and asked her how many minutes did she put the Chicken Pot Pie in for.. and she tells me 18.. I looked at her and said.. 7 Minutes mom.. 7! D<

She grabs a fork and messes with her Chicken thing and goes "its all burned!"
I had to go "you don't have to SEE it you can SMELL that it's burned!"

and I showed her my poor paper towel.. it had a burn ring on it ;-;

So.. I guess my question is.. Have you ever set fire to something? Burned food in some mystical way? or just saved your home from a mother who fails at electrical stuff? tell me =w= I wanna know if someone shares my pain xD

Funky Monkey Vibration 05-08-2011 03:28 PM

Woah.
You make your mother sound stupid on mother's day! xD

But that sounds like something my friend could do.
Like... Totally... She's such a clutz. xD

Demonskid 05-08-2011 03:30 PM

it's not that she is stupid.. its that she doesn't understand most electronics. =w=,

Ashurato 05-08-2011 03:31 PM

I thought it was kinda cute.

Funky Monkey Vibration 05-08-2011 03:43 PM

It was cute. :'3
I especially liked this part.

The worst thing I did was turn on the oven to make some chicken tenders and next thing I know there's smoke everywhere and I run out there and turn off the oven and open it to see that my grandma had put a plastic dish strainer in there. @o@ It literally caught on fire.

Demonskid 05-08-2011 03:57 PM

O~O Taiki thats horrid! Ugh the smell of melted plastic D8 gross..

Ashurato 05-08-2011 04:00 PM

*retch*

My friend in college once put an aluminum foil-wrapped thing in the microwave. I say "thing" because what came out can't be defined by words.

He was fortunate to survive that fiasco.

Demonskid 05-08-2011 04:01 PM

what was it supposed to be? OxO

Ashurato 05-08-2011 04:03 PM

He said it was a pizza slice.
What I saw was radioactive waste.

Demonskid 05-08-2011 04:04 PM

x'D Microwave + aluminum foil-wrap = Disaster x'D

Ever put a CD in microwave? 8D

Ashurato 05-08-2011 04:06 PM

That does not sound child-safe.

Demonskid 05-08-2011 04:07 PM

x'D It made pretty sparks.

Of course I freaked and turned off the microwave =w=,

Espy 05-08-2011 04:12 PM

...-muffles laughter-

Oh, several years ago I nearly burned the house down...my pot of hard-boiled eggs ran out of water.

Ashurato 05-08-2011 04:18 PM

@ Espy - I've done that as well. *sighs in shame*

@ DK - Why were you microwaving a CD in the first place?

Demonskid 05-08-2011 05:17 PM

Eggs! 8D

Ash - I .. dont remember D8

Kaguya 05-08-2011 05:27 PM

My fiance's brother put tin foiled meat in the microwave once.

Demonskid 05-08-2011 05:56 PM

xD Tin foil! thats fun to mess with xD

Kaguya 05-08-2011 06:58 PM

Just not in the microwave.

Fey 05-08-2011 08:21 PM

Okay, first off I didn't nearly burn something down...but...well...I tend to be in/around things when do try too. Once our family car caught ON FIRE while we were driving(mechanic didn't put the oil thing back right). Ironically a million people called the fire department as we were heading along, but we couldn't get them to find us when we finally stopped. Not even a year later I was babysitting and my brother runs over to tell me to call the fire department cause the dryer in the garage was on fire. Yeeeeeeeeah. So not my fault.

Though, on a side note; aluminium and CDs will indeed spark in microwaves, but aren't inherently dangerous as long as it's not a ANCIENT model. The sparks are just electrons having fun.

Fizzyology 05-08-2011 10:51 PM

lol I tried making hot cocoa in the microwave when I was little...some how I registered as 1 1/2 minutes to 11 minutes...the poor marshmallows were vaporized XD

Demonskid 05-08-2011 10:54 PM

Fey : I dunno how old the micro was xD

Fizzy : D8 I do that some times but I usually catch myself xp

Glitch 05-08-2011 11:55 PM

Fire in the disco!

>.>

Only a cookie.

Lauv Keiko 05-09-2011 12:02 AM

Where I live, burning dried leaves and unused paper (or other biodegradle stuff) is common...XD
So we "combust" these things on purpose and bury the ashes righ next to our trees.
We usually have a bucket of water prepared if we burn these stuff, so when the fired gets bigger, we just splash it on the fire. ^^

Nanka 05-09-2011 12:50 AM

The Everglades catches on fire here all the time. D8

Madam Kira 05-09-2011 07:43 AM

I had put some rolls in the oven, and they caught on fire.
No adults were home so we had to cal the fire department.
It wasn't my fault though! The oven needed to be cleaned out, however I'm still cautious about using the stove in any way. >>

Reyoki 05-09-2011 10:05 AM

I've managed to set water on fire before.....

I was going to make pasta, so I put the water on the stove to boil with a little olive oil in it. My grandmother enters the rather small kitchen. I don't like to be in the kitchen when someone else is because, as stated before, our kitchen is rather small. I go back to my room, planning to return to the kitchen in a few minutes...
Well, I didn't go back into the kitchen. I got distracted by a movie on TV... until I smelled something burning. At that point, I thought for a moment and then... "Oh SHIT!!!"
I ran into the kitchen to see my pot of water and oil IN FLAMES!!! I grabbed the hose from the sink and put out the fire. I turned off the stove and washed the pot after that. It was fine aside from some minor scorch marks.

Fizzyology 05-09-2011 03:56 PM

Did I mention that I managed to catch myself on fire once? :B My Mother won't let me in the kitchen alone anymore, because she swears every time I get near the oven I end up giving a burnt offering to the oven god or something D': lol

I also caught an oven mitt on fire once XD

Lucifer 05-09-2011 04:00 PM

I somehow undercooked and overcooked popcorn at the same time half was unpopped half was burnt to a crisp.

Batty 05-09-2011 05:39 PM

POOR HOT POCKETS!!! Thats sacrilege, right thar.

And FIRE. YES. FIRE. I've done a bunch of things dealing with fire.

Like raiding my house of everything with alcohol in it, so I could go make pretty pictures in the driveway, and setting it on fire.

Encased myself in a ring of fire, too! And this passed weekend, I sat around and watched people/danced myself around a huge bonfire. It. Was. Awesome.

Demonskid 05-09-2011 08:29 PM

Lucifer - O.o that.. is amazing.

Fizzy - D8 the oven god is evil

Batty - *dances around*

Every time mom goes into I stalk her to make sure she is doing things right D8

Sarah 05-17-2011 02:21 PM

lol! well i've never caught anything on fire... I'm not sure i've burned anything before, umm except ramen noodles. lol...but those are easy to burn if you cook them to long, which i like them to get soft. lol.... you have to stir them or they will stick if they sit too long by theirself. hmm, i remember a long time ago my sister and i were home by ourselves, i believe. i dunno.. i don't rememmber. the trashcan in the bathroom was on fire! /had fire in it.. O__o it wasn't me that did that. that's for sure. I don't see how that could magically happen.. i wonder if my sister did anything that day. i know that house we lived in she had burnt the carpet before..so hmmm..

Behemoth 05-17-2011 03:00 PM

I accidentally set a bowl of microwaveable ramen on fire once and to this day I have no clue how that actually happened, since it was only in three minutes and wasn't made of gunpowder or anything. I've sort of avoided ramen ever since, which is probably pretty good, considering the unholy amount of sodium in those dastardly noodles.

Sarah 05-17-2011 03:07 PM

aw yeah lol.. I only eat them when i'm like really hungry and there seems to be nothing else in the house to eat. :o they are good once in a while..yes..not good for you though, so i try to avoid them when possible. x3x

Lunaryon 05-17-2011 03:19 PM

I was boiling a pot of water, and somehow... I'm really sure how, the water caught fire. I was told that apparently the pot had last been filled with something flamible, and it mixed with the water and set the water on fire. I nearly burnt down my house, but I can now proudly saw that I caught water on fire, and so I don't cook anything.
