The Velvet Room- Persona RP OOC Thread

Welcome to the Velvet Room. If you are a member of the Persona RP, or are curious about joining, you are more than welcome to post here.

Please pardon our dust. This was our original recruitment thread as well. Official OOC business as of the actual RP's creation begins on Page 12.

Everything under the following spoiler tag has been re-stated in the actual RP in a much neater fashion. It is being kept here merely for the sake of keeping records. It would be pointless for you to open the spoiler tag at this point. Truly, it would.

I'm looking to start an RP situated in the world of Shin Megami Tensei's Persona universe. I would like to co-own the RP with at least 2 other people. If you might be interested, please post here so that we may discuss details.

Here is my personal character sheet, which I'll use as a completed sample for now.

Character Name: Missy Lockley
Brief Character History: Missy has traveled all over the world with her family's acting troupe. When she reached High School age, though, her folks thought it would be best to settle down. Unlike the cast of jolly characters her family is, Missy is a rather sharp-tongued individual with a hair trigger temper and a very dry sense of humor. She manages her family's theatre on weekends and is a shrewd negotiator.
Character Appearance: She's rather on the short side with long midnight black hair and icy blue eyes. Her skin is somewhat pale from spending so much time in a dark theatre, and that coupled with her slender build gives her a false look of frailty.
Initial Persona: Hua Po
Persona Abilities: Agilao, Fire Break, Maragi, Rakukaja, Rakunda, Makajam
Secondary Persona: Yatsufusa
Persona Abilities: Agidyne, Maragidyne, Megido, Mediarama, Mind Charge, Masukukaja

Brief Character History: Konrad was born in Germany but his parents moved to [insert country here]. He became a member of the SCA and learned the ways of armored combat. He is also has experience in making armor out of many types of materials. He's a loner at school and normally is either working his part time job, tinkering with new armor or at fighters' practice after school. Normally he's very selfish and only becomes friends with a person if he thinks it will benefit him. Eventually though he becomes attached to them against his better judgement.
Character Appearance: 6ft 7in, Light brown hair, hairstyle depends on day, wears glasses and large build with some muscle.
Initial Persona: High Pixie
Persona Abilities: Mabufu, Holy Arrow, Bufula, Media, Rakukaja, Sukukaja

Character Name: Cirya Kane
Brief Character History: Cirya is a calm, kind-heart soul. She can get happy-go-lucky when she is around her loved ones. She makes friends easily (or so it appears), but because she travels so much she doesn't have much time with them. Whether or not her happiness is just a mask to keep her at a distance to everyone else or it is pure true happiness no one can guess. She is easy going and loves life even when things are hard, but if anyone threatens her family or friends she will strike with a vengeance that would be most stunningly elegant if it wasn't so terribly violent and chaotic. She is like the earth itself, and even with all her beauty, grace, and kindness she has her dark moments too.

When Cirya was young she lost most of her family in a horrid raid. Total destruction of her little village in the middle of no where. Between the fires burning all around her, and the raping and killing of everyone she knew Cirya lost a bit of herself that day. She can't remember how she is alive or if anything was done to her. She woke up months later in a back alley of the slums. Somehow she managed to find a place for herself, but the nightmares still haunt her dreams. She takes odd jobs now to get by. If she needs the cash she'll do just about anything. She never takes anyone to the little corner of this hell she calls hers and she makes sure no one ever followers her there. She is extremely paranoid and unforgiving.
Character Appearance: Bronze Skin, tanned from all the time she is outside. Bright clover green eyes that reflect her happiness and chaotic joy. Long curly redish-brown hair thats normally tied back away from her face in a pony tail so she can she what she is doing. She is normally dressed in neutral earthy tones. She wears mostly pants and t-shirts because they are easy to move around in and it won't matter if they get dirty, but can dress well when its need.
Initial Persona: Angel
Persona Abilities: Hama, Patra, Garu, Dia, Sukukaja, Charmdi
Secondary Persona: Cybele
Persona Abilities: Samarecarm, Megidola, Mediarahan, Vicious Strike, Amrita, Mediarama

The RP will take place a year after the events of Persona 4. However, instead of using the TV World, we will be using a Mirror World.

Ugh I've never played persona but I've played digital Devil saga and Devil summoner. If its like those games I can pretty much pick up the main idea.

They have a majority of the demons in Devil Summoner in the Persona games. They're set in (supposedly) real-world Japan, and they're about groups of high school kids who summon their "personae" to fight these things called "shadows" and keep them from destroying the world.

I've never played the games before, actually. xDD;
I always heard people talking about it... but never actually picked them up myself.

They're basically about high schoolers saving the world from being destroyed by the darkness in people's hearts. The mythology and personae abilities in the games are closely related to traditional Japanese mythology and Tarot.

Ohhh! Tarot! Thats a word I like. xD;

Also, don't be reluctant to ask me for role-playing tips. I'm a bit of a seasoned veteran, albeit I am a tad rusty, but I can still give some solid introductory advice.

I was looking at a game for the PSP just an hour ago actually lol
can't buy nothing right now though. Have you played any of the games?

On a side note, I have played Aeria Game's Shin Megami Tensei MMO. Wasn't such a bad idea, though I personally found it hard to get into quest/gameplay wise. I believe I got to like 21 though? (don't even know if this is at all related to persona)

I have played many games from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. I've played Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 3 Portable, Nocturne, Devil Summoner 1, and Digital Devil Saga 1. I have also played the Megaten MMO for a brief period.

The demons in the MMO, most of them anyway, are the same as the different personae in the Persona series.

hmm...if I were just in school I would definitely try this out. Since I am doing more than just that I'll have to pass. Sorry Reyoki, hope you find some peoples!

I have to warn you though. If you hadn't noticed; I try to be good with spelling and grammar but I pretty much suck at both... I just never got that down... But I love to write. I hope you can forgive me in the future for anything I do to upset you.

*waves hand in a nonchalant fashion* Meh, whatever. To be honest, it doesn't bother me most of the time. I just mentally correct whatever problem I happen upon and keep going. The things that really bug me are when people mess up things like "there" "they're" "their" and stuff like that. I can forgive things like messing up between "who" and "whom", though. I know tons of people don't know how to differentiate when to use which one.

No no, you got it right. It's a really weird grammar thing. I know a lot of adults in their forties that still don't get it right.

I shock people when they ask how I'm doing and I respond, "I'm doing well. How are you?" because most people I know say, "I'm good."

I tend to say well in person but I get weird looks so online I revert to good.

I think you're doing a fine job already. Now if only we could get more people to care more about their speaking habits.

I've always cared, but like Chasm.... I've a hard time learning things. I forced myself to stay into regular classes all through my schooling, and I would do fairly well in them by pushing myself... but my English teachers never seemed to care about spelling or grammar. Some of the wouldn't even tell me when I had done something wrong. They could see the effort I put in and just gave me an A.

I was an Honors English student. I could've been AP, but I couldn't be bothered to take the test. I made Cs in my English classes because I almost never did any homework. I think the only class I ever did homework for was my math classes. The only reason that homework got finished was I did it during the lesson when everyone else was sturggling to figure out what the heck was going on. I wish I'd been placed in the Honors Algebra 2 as well so that I could've taken Calculus before I started college, but the guidance office made a mistake with my scheduling.

You're lucky. Truly. If things were that easy for me... God, things would be different.

It's a pain in the tukkus when you seem to have an occult following of people either wanting your help or teasing you for being brainy, though. The only thing that got me through High School without committing some serious acts of violence was the Theatre Club.

I can understand that. There were some classes I could pass with my eyes closed. It was either I had to work my ass off or I could sleep through class. Nothing between it. The classes I breezed through I would have people always running to me for help... and the classes I needed help with I kept it quiet did the work at home and told everyone it was nothing.
I worked my ass off for my grades. (most of them anyways)
But I didn't retain most of that information... Sadly
