The Velvet Room- Persona RP OOC Thread

Welcome to the Velvet Room. If you are a member of the Persona RP, or are curious about joining, you are more than welcome to post here.

Please pardon our dust. This was our original recruitment thread as well. Official OOC business as of the actual RP's creation begins on Page 12.

Everything under the following spoiler tag has been re-stated in the actual RP in a much neater fashion. It is being kept here merely for the sake of keeping records. It would be pointless for you to open the spoiler tag at this point. Truly, it would.

Poggio 05-19-2011 08:03 PM

Ugh I've never played persona but I've played digital Devil saga and Devil summoner. If its like those games I can pretty much pick up the main idea.

Reyoki 05-19-2011 08:13 PM

They have a majority of the demons in Devil Summoner in the Persona games. They're set in (supposedly) real-world Japan, and they're about groups of high school kids who summon their "personae" to fight these things called "shadows" and keep them from destroying the world.

I could link you to the two games' respective TV Tropes pages if you'd like more detailed information.

zombiefluff 05-19-2011 11:54 PM

no clue what persona even is...
::hops off to explore persona universe info::

regine 05-20-2011 04:26 AM

i dont have any idea how to role play..never tried it

Reyoki 05-20-2011 10:00 AM

I've added more information to the first post for anyone interested.

Batty 05-21-2011 02:42 AM

I've never played the games before, actually. xDD;
I always heard people talking about it... but never actually picked them up myself.

Reyoki 05-21-2011 02:48 AM

They're basically about high schoolers saving the world from being destroyed by the darkness in people's hearts. The mythology and personae abilities in the games are closely related to traditional Japanese mythology and Tarot.

Batty 05-21-2011 02:54 AM

Ohhh! Tarot! Thats a word I like. xD;

I'll have to do some research on this game.. <.<;

Nanka 05-21-2011 03:18 AM

This game actually sounds really interesting. o 3o

Reyoki 05-21-2011 03:20 AM

Please do look into it.

Also, don't be reluctant to ask me for role-playing tips. I'm a bit of a seasoned veteran, albeit I am a tad rusty, but I can still give some solid introductory advice.

Jurinjo 05-21-2011 03:14 PM

I was looking at a game for the PSP just an hour ago actually lol
can't buy nothing right now though. Have you played any of the games?

On a side note, I have played Aeria Game's Shin Megami Tensei MMO. Wasn't such a bad idea, though I personally found it hard to get into quest/gameplay wise. I believe I got to like 21 though? (don't even know if this is at all related to persona)

Reyoki 05-22-2011 03:44 PM

I have played many games from the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. I've played Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 3 Portable, Nocturne, Devil Summoner 1, and Digital Devil Saga 1. I have also played the Megaten MMO for a brief period.

The demons in the MMO, most of them anyway, are the same as the different personae in the Persona series.

Jurinjo 05-23-2011 06:05 PM

hmm...if I were just in school I would definitely try this out. Since I am doing more than just that I'll have to pass. Sorry Reyoki, hope you find some peoples!

Reyoki 05-23-2011 06:15 PM

You're welcome to join later on if this thing ever gets off the ground. If you know anyone whom might be interested, please send them my way. I really want this to be successful!

Mizeria 05-23-2011 06:28 PM

I know someone that loves the persona games.
I wonder if he would want to join
I'll text him and get right back to you
=3

--As he is out of town till Saturday he says "Epic! Please tell them I would love to join when I get back."

Reyoki 05-23-2011 06:37 PM

WAHOO! Mize-san, you're awesome! Now I'll have to get ahold of this other guy I know. He'll probably be psyched to be a part of an RP like this.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 06:45 PM

If I knew more about the persona stuff I would join but I know nothing at all...
>.<;;

Reyoki 05-23-2011 06:54 PM

I provided links to the TV Tropes pages for a reason, you know, as well as that compendium link.

If you'd like, though, I could write out my own more detailed description.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 06:57 PM

I'll look at the links
xD
I just haven't gotten that fair jeez
doing to much at once I suppose

Reyoki 05-23-2011 07:01 PM

Heh, I'm not holding it against you. I'm just a bit impatient and excited that this might actually get off the ground before it crashes and burns.

This will be my first RP since my Gaia days, so I'm rather anxious about it.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 07:04 PM

I haven't really rp-ed since my Roli days
xD
A LOOOOONG time ago
and it was always with the same person
we were in the middle of... 13 different ones when his parents cut his Internet.
x.x

Reyoki 05-23-2011 07:12 PM

I used to RP through Yahoo messaging as well, but I don't use any message services anymore.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 07:18 PM

Its just not the same without him, but Ill try a new one some day.
Maybe even yours...
When Obbie gets back and goes geek and explains the persona universe to me.
He's so cute when he does that
=3

Reyoki 05-23-2011 08:08 PM

Well, I hope you find it fascinating and that you'll join me. You seem like you'd be a lot of fun to RP with.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 08:15 PM

I have to warn you though. If you hadn't noticed; I try to be good with spelling and grammar but I pretty much suck at both... I just never got that down... But I love to write. I hope you can forgive me in the future for anything I do to upset you.

Reyoki 05-23-2011 08:19 PM

*waves hand in a nonchalant fashion* Meh, whatever. To be honest, it doesn't bother me most of the time. I just mentally correct whatever problem I happen upon and keep going. The things that really bug me are when people mess up things like "there" "they're" "their" and stuff like that. I can forgive things like messing up between "who" and "whom", though. I know tons of people don't know how to differentiate when to use which one.

Mizeria 05-23-2011 08:27 PM

to whom it may concern
and
who are you

how are is that?
o.O;
Or did I get that wrong?

Reyoki 05-23-2011 08:32 PM

No no, you got it right. It's a really weird grammar thing. I know a lot of adults in their forties that still don't get it right.

I shock people when they ask how I'm doing and I respond, "I'm doing well. How are you?" because most people I know say, "I'm good."

Mizeria 05-23-2011 09:29 PM

I tend to say well in person but I get weird looks so online I revert to good.
-sigh-
I really should get better at my grammar.

Reyoki 05-24-2011 11:47 AM

I think you're doing a fine job already. Now if only we could get more people to care more about their speaking habits.

Mizeria 05-24-2011 12:12 PM

I've always cared, but like Chasm.... I've a hard time learning things. I forced myself to stay into regular classes all through my schooling, and I would do fairly well in them by pushing myself... but my English teachers never seemed to care about spelling or grammar. Some of the wouldn't even tell me when I had done something wrong. They could see the effort I put in and just gave me an A.
=.=;

Reyoki 05-24-2011 12:24 PM

I was an Honors English student. I could've been AP, but I couldn't be bothered to take the test. I made Cs in my English classes because I almost never did any homework. I think the only class I ever did homework for was my math classes. The only reason that homework got finished was I did it during the lesson when everyone else was sturggling to figure out what the heck was going on. I wish I'd been placed in the Honors Algebra 2 as well so that I could've taken Calculus before I started college, but the guidance office made a mistake with my scheduling.

Mizeria 05-24-2011 12:32 PM

You're lucky. Truly. If things were that easy for me... God, things would be different.

Reyoki 05-24-2011 12:34 PM

It's a pain in the tukkus when you seem to have an occult following of people either wanting your help or teasing you for being brainy, though. The only thing that got me through High School without committing some serious acts of violence was the Theatre Club.

Mizeria 05-24-2011 12:40 PM

I can understand that. There were some classes I could pass with my eyes closed. It was either I had to work my ass off or I could sleep through class. Nothing between it. The classes I breezed through I would have people always running to me for help... and the classes I needed help with I kept it quiet did the work at home and told everyone it was nothing.
I worked my ass off for my grades. (most of them anyways)
But I didn't retain most of that information... Sadly

**sorry about the trade I thought it was the one I sent to the newbie yesterday still waiting to be accepted.... I didn't even look at it
x.x;

Reyoki 05-24-2011 12:42 PM

Okay, enough about real school.

Did you get a chance to speak with your friend about Persona?

Mizeria 05-24-2011 12:44 PM

He can't wait to be home and get in touch with you.
^.^

Sadly... He won't be back till Saturday. Bastard went to the beach and is sipping appletinis without me
-sigh-

Reyoki 05-24-2011 01:02 PM

-3- Booo. While I do look forward to conversing with him, I find the beach to be highly overrated. As I live in Florida, I have the authority to say as much.

Mizeria 05-24-2011 01:07 PM

We live in rainy new york
and we don't get to go to the beach very often.
he's down in SC playin Putt Putt currently.
