Swords for Sheol

What... is your name?

I am Suzerain, Suzerain of the Sheols!

What... is your quest?

To seek the Holy Grail swords! Yes, swords, many swords, from lands near and far, including the following:

Samurai
USB Sword
Helia's Armament
Fakir's Blades
Asura's Kodachi
Jhona's Sword
Taiye's Bullet Sword
Zephyr's Sword

but also any other weapons, from those so magnanimous or pitying as to donate them.

What... is your favorite color?

Black! No, white, no, wait--

*ahem*

So, yes, I'm questing for swords and other weapons that anyone might have laying around collecting dust. I went through the item guide, but I might have missed a few for my list. If anyone knows of any other sword items, let me know, and I'll update it.

And... yeah, I'm not really one for fancy threads, so that's about it. Follow the site rules, of course, and please don't spam. I like to converse, but it's hard for me to keep involved in a conversation when it's just chatter.

Edit: My personal IRL sword collection, for anyone who's interested.

Saints

Espy, canonized for donating Jhona's Sword, Taiye's Bullet Sword, and Darberus' Spear
CupcakeDolly, beatified for magnanimously selling me Helias Armament
Serra Britt, exalted for her selfless sacrifice of Zephyr's sword.
Perfectly Wicked, edified for the gift of a USB Sword, Dacorum's Golden and Silver Glaives, and a Cyber Reaper.
Jurinjo, apotheosized for the awesome gift of a Feather Folk
Alexander Linden, glorified for completing my quest with the donation of an Asura's Kodachi.

And, on that note, thread open.

So, does anyone else here collect swords IRL? I have a fairly large collection, but I've stopped buying them since I ran out of room to display them. Once I have a house of my own I'll probably start collecting them again.

Sushi 05-29-2011 12:59 PM

-Steals thread virginity-
Why howdy!
:3

I wish you luck! I don't have any swords, but I almost bought on in Spain. That would of been a pain to explain to customs though.

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 01:07 PM

Yeah, I remember going to Medieval Times in Canada when I was younger and begging my father to buy me a sword there until he explained Customs to me.

Because, you know, parents should buy their 9-year-olds real swords. :p

I think I was 14 when I got my first one, a red and black katana/wakizashi/tanto set. I still have it somewhere, I think, though the katana may have broke. (Which is probably why parents don't buy real swords for their kids...)

Thankfully I grew out of the swinging-them-around phase. :p

Sushi 05-29-2011 01:10 PM

Lol, my family has guns. A display case and everything. If I was into any weaponry, it would probably be daggers. I like smaller, silent weapons.

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 01:29 PM

I might have a dresser drawer full of daggers and knives... *shifty eyes*

I don't think I'd ever collect guns. I'd like to have one for protection, but I still live with my parents and they refuse to let me live here if I buy one. Granted, we live in rich white suburbia, but still.

Sadrain 05-29-2011 01:34 PM

Good luck on your sharp quest. Most of those should not be hard to obtain. ^^ Of course, people would prefer to sell in sets (for event items), but there are always spare items laying about, as well.

Bovice 05-29-2011 01:43 PM

Good luck in your quest, as for collecting swords. I collect hidden swords.

Sushi 05-29-2011 01:45 PM

We live in average suburbia. xD
We have one for protection and the rest are for looks, I think. I don't know. xD

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 01:46 PM

I used to have a retractable sword, but I think one my alleged "friends" in high school broke it.

I've seen cane swords around in the local shops, but I've never bought one. They don't display very well. :p

Sushi 05-29-2011 01:52 PM

True. Could be useful. If you're in a high class establishment, and get in a knife fight. Or if your fifty and have thugs rushing after ya.

Serra Britt 05-29-2011 02:17 PM

Well Suzerain, good luck on this quest :3

As for a real life collection I'm not one for weapons. I like plushies... but I do like looking at swords. Now my sister, SHE has a knife collection :P

Sushi 05-29-2011 02:17 PM

Lol I don't really collect anything. Maybe the trisphee rares. xD One of each. Or I try to. :3

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 02:38 PM

Hmm... I need to clean my room today, anyway, maybe I'll take some pictures of my swords to post here. They make such lovely decorations. ;)

dragoness129 05-29-2011 03:47 PM

I Love the Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail references! Lots of luck with your quest for swords! ^_^

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 03:48 PM

I was wondering when someone would pick up on that. ;)

dragoness129 05-29-2011 03:50 PM

That movie is really great! ^_^

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 03:54 PM

My favorite part is the witch-burning logic. Like most everything in that movie, it looks really stupid on the surface, but it's actually quite subtle and clever making a point about the medieval Ordeals.

dragoness129 05-29-2011 03:56 PM

Yeah, that is a neat part.
I love the Nights Who Say Ni, the Rabbit part, the Black Knight, the bridge part, the part when the illustrator has a heart attack which causes the beast to stop chasing them, and the part about the people being sacked, so many great parts in there that it is hard to choose a favorite.. ^_^

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 04:03 PM

True. The other part that stands out to me is Dennis the Peasant and his socio-political commentary.

Oh, and Sir Robin's minstrels.

Yeah, the list goes on. :p

dragoness129 05-29-2011 04:05 PM

The minstrals are great too!
Indeed it does!

I do not collect swords in real life, but I think one of my uncle's does.

Holy crap. You gotta post a pic, man. And I'll see if I've any extras of stuff.

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 05:31 PM

Ooh, why thank you, Espy. :)

And I did take some pics, I'm working on uploading them right now.

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 05:42 PM

Okay, here's some pictures of my sword collection. I have more that aren't on display, but these are all my nicest pieces. Most of them are ornamental over functional, since, you know, I decorate with them. :p

Sorry for the size, too, they're a tad big. I can re-size them if it's a problem.

dragoness129 05-29-2011 05:49 PM

I love your sword and book collection! ^_^

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 06:22 PM

Heh, that's like 10% of my book collection. My entire closet is stacked with boxes full of books. :p

Sushi 05-29-2011 06:34 PM

Well, I think we all know who we should NOT mess with. xD

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 06:49 PM

Oh, no, I'm very non-violent. I just like the way they look. :p

Plus, they give my room a unique aspect. I like being unique. :p

Sushi 05-29-2011 06:52 PM

I just paint and post random things on my walls. xD Like a twister board.

Espy 05-29-2011 07:39 PM

WHOA. You have a katar-looking weapon. Hooooolyyyyy craaaaaap.

EDIT: Noticed your books XD

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 09:32 PM

I actually have a much bigger katar than that, but about four or five years ago, I cut my leg open with it pretty badly, so I keep it in the closet where I won't be able to hurt myself. :p It's the only blade I own that's really sharp, and it is ridiculously sharp.

Actually, here's a pic of it thanks to Google. Nasty piece of work. Not even sure why I bought it, it's hardly pleasing to the eye.

Espy 05-29-2011 09:36 PM

Yeah, that looks a tad bit too unnatural to me x___X

Just watch, after college I'm gonna start a dagger collection. I've already got a decorative one (it's not metal, and I dented it last Halloween, much to the annoyance of my dad.)

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 09:39 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention, if you look at my katana rack, the bottom one (the really long one) is actually two short koadchis in one sheath, the end of the scabbard is the hilt of the second one.

The one above it is reverse-bladed, and the one above that also has two swords in one sheath, though it's more of a katana/wakizashi combo. If you look close, the top part of the sheath is wrapped like a sword-hilt, that's the hilt of the wakizashi. They're sheathed parallel to each other.

Espy 05-29-2011 09:46 PM

I've never seen a real reverse blade in real life. ...The closest I've been is a pair of what might've been katanas (I didn't know the differences in eighth grade) that my teacher brought to show us. Wanted to unsheathe it, but, yeah >.>

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 09:49 PM

What, really? Your teacher brought katanas to school? That's crazy. My 10th grade history teacher talked about his katana collection a lot, but he never brought any in to show us.

dragoness129 05-29-2011 09:49 PM

The books I saw looked awesome! I love the Fantasy genre! ^_^

Ouch, cutting your leg does not sound good at all. I would have re-sold the blade or keep it under lock and key.

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 09:52 PM

Hmm... something about the thought of selling a lethal weapon secondhand seems a bit underhanded to me. Possibly illegal, too. :p

And I have a love/hated relationship with the fantasy genre. I read a ton of it, but I like a lot less than I read.

dragoness129 05-29-2011 10:02 PM

LoL, when you put it that way, it does sound kind of illegal.

What are some of the ones you love?

Suzerain of Sheol 05-29-2011 10:07 PM

My favorite swords you mean? Probably any of the Kit Rae fantasy swords I have, especially the one with the black blade (seriously, blackened steel is awesome).

Or, if you mean books (just covering my bases there :p), um... Lord of the Rings is up there, though I like Tolkien's Silmarillion a lot more. For more modern stuff, my absolute favorite series ever is Steven Erikson's gargantuan Malazan Book of the Fallen. Also, Scott Bakker's Prince of Nothing trilogy is another favorite. A Song of Ice and Fire is cool, too, by George Martin.

dragoness129 05-29-2011 10:16 PM

I was meaning the books. ^_^
Blackened steel does look very awesome.

I have not read Tolkien's Silmarillion book. And I have not heard of those other ones after that.
My favorite series is the Dragon Keeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul.
I also really love the way Brian Jacques writes the Redwall series. The stores are really wonderful and cute!
