What are you reading right now?

I'd figures I'd beat everyone to the punch and start the obvious topic. tell us what you're reading and maybe tell us about it if you want to.

I'm reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand

johnny 07-22-2010 06:08 PM

That's one of my mom's favorite books. I have it, haven't gotten around to reading it yet though. We have The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, and I read Anthem in high school, which was pretty good.

Right now I'm reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, though. Bit of a step down on the literary ladder. xD

It's all part of my plan to re-read the books that made me love reading when I was younger. Trying to inspire myself to love reading again.

Kalei 07-22-2010 06:18 PM

Cool, maybe I should do that. I'm reading Atlas Shrugged more out of stubornness than anything, because I've been working on it for so long. it's a good book, just big.

AceValkyrie 07-22-2010 06:26 PM

I am currently reading Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs of the Mercy Thompson Series.

Well first of all, Mercy is a Shape-shifter who shape shifts into a Coyote. Mercy lives next to an Alpha male of an werewolf pack called, Adam. She was raised by werewolves so she knows a lot about them and stuff. Bone crossed is the fourth book of the Mercy Thompson series, and in this book the local Vampire Queen, Marsilia finds out Mercy crossed her and killed a member of her clan. Marsilia wants revenge on Mercy, but, mercy is protected by the werewolf clan but Marsilia won't go after Mercy, but her friends.

Sadrain 07-23-2010 05:06 AM

I picked up "The Secrets of Immortal Nicholas Flamel Book II" recently, but I haven't gotten around reading it... I will probably do so soon, though.

Kalei 08-03-2010 01:27 AM

I'm reading Elvenborn by Andre Norton an Mercedes Lackey. I started it a few months ago, and figured I better finish it before reading anything else.

Toxic 08-04-2010 02:10 AM

I'm trying to read Blood Beast by Darren Shan (yes the Demonata series).
Call me a turkey burger but his books are actually addicting ._.

Chi 08-04-2010 03:14 AM

I finished reading it but I was reading Shanghai Girls by Lisa See.
I want to start reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold but I don't know where my sister put it.

Behemoth 08-04-2010 03:15 PM

I just started on Breakfast of Champions, by Kurt Vonnegut. I have to say that, while not my absolute, number one favourite author (that position is tied between Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman, but only when he's writing Sandman), he's definitely one of my favourites. His cynicism is just so eager and oddly cheerful.

Sadrain 08-09-2010 01:53 PM

"Montezuma's Daughter" by H. Rider Haggard.

Ashurato 08-14-2010 06:58 PM

The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix, though I'm thinking of restarting The Lark and the Wren or the Harper Trilogy again.

Alucard 08-18-2010 01:14 PM

I'm currently reading the third book in the Midnighters Trilogy by Scott Westerfield.

Syric 08-19-2010 08:29 PM

Company Aytch by Sam Watkins

Yommy 08-25-2010 08:09 AM

Right now I am trying to get through Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. It's not a bad book, I just take notions to read and leave the internet alone so I read. xD

Bookworm_Ninja 09-24-2010 10:37 PM

Unfortuunately I'm reading my college books. However, my most recent favorite is Blood Ninja, good story line and a sequal coming out soon :D

Poggio 09-25-2010 01:46 AM

I just finished reading To Light A candle by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory. I can't wait to buy the last book to see how it ends. In the time in between I am reading Enders Game By Orson Scott Card. Its pretty interesting.

Trinka 09-25-2010 02:01 AM

I'm allllmost finished with Snow Crash. All my friends are dying for me to finish it so that we can talk about it together.

Ender's Game is fantastic, I've read everything even associated with it, I loved it so much. Make sure you read the sequels and companions to figure out what you like. Card's got some amazing stuff.

Poggio 09-25-2010 02:04 AM

Well I've read Enders Shadow. I wanted to read Enders game because I read the comic book version of Enders Shadow. So far I'm finding the main characters to be a lot alike.

johnny 09-25-2010 01:12 PM

Life, the Universe, and Everything by Douglas Adams.

Book three in the inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Trilogy (which contains five books).

Orvi 09-25-2010 10:51 PM

I am currently reading "The Alchemy of Air", my science teacher recommended it to me, Im loving it, probably one of the only history kind of books Ill ever like, I think I like it because it explains the science of it, its about how they were able to pull the nitrogen from the air and solve the growing demands for food, really is quite remarkable :)

Argon 10-03-2010 11:01 AM

I am currently reading Strain by Guillermo Del Toro.

It is a neo-traditional depiction of vampires. I love it.

Minyaagar 10-03-2010 02:24 PM

I am currently reading two books, The Fate of Thorbardin and another one I can't recall off the top of my head. haha.

#FFFFFF 10-03-2010 04:46 PM

I have plenty of books that I WANT to be reading, but the only ones that I need to be reading right now are my college text books. xD Right now I'm reading my Sociology book for the lecture on Tuesday.

Rave 10-05-2010 12:09 PM

((___jade___))> 10-11-2010 11:20 AM

I just this weekend got my hands on the Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice. Been wanting to read it for over a year now but haven't been able to locate it. ;o; I've had it for like... three or four days now but I'm already almost halfway through it. XD I be diggin' it.

kleptomaniac 10-11-2010 04:11 PM

Wow, I know it's a classic, but I think my soul is dying.

Aint that the truth.

I'm currently, sorta, kinda, reading Graham Greens' The Quiet American.

Bill Compton 10-12-2010 06:53 AM

Right now I'm reading Pure Dead Wicked by Debi Gloiri, it's rather childish in some ways but it's a fun read.

I'm currently trying to read "Wuthering Heights", unfortunately it's too boring for me and I can't seem to be able to get past reading the first chapter D:

M e w 10-20-2010 09:23 PM

Right now I picked up a book that I had put down for a while.
It's called Skull Session and my mom got it as a gift and never read it... thought I'd give it a shot, lots of big words lol.
It's interesting but I need to get further into it before I can decide if I really like it or not. D:
I'm just reading it temporarily until this weekend though, when I can get the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy. :]

Ooh, tasty. I just finished up Tenth Grade Bleeds. The ending shocked me. :O

I'm reading Unwind.

iDemon 10-21-2010 07:15 PM

Well I'm reading "Into the Wild" right now for my AP Language and Composition class.

However for my own reading I'm currently reading two books "The Hunger Games" and "Pride and Prejudice" <3

I have a long list of books I need to read too. Long list including Sense and Sensibility, Wuthering Heights, Jane Erye along with many others.

Vox 10-21-2010 09:01 PM

I'm reading the latest in the So You Want To Be A Wizard trilogy by Diane Duane, out of nostalgia. It's a jr.high kids' book. Funny how some childhood books live up to your grown up standards, and some do not. I don't think this one does -- it's ok, but I like my fictional magic to be adventurous, not responsible and sort of PSA or even PBS-ish. And, it goes on for pages and pages about how their magic works, but, while tech explanations interest me in sci-fi, the details bore me here. If I were a DM setting a story in Duane's universe, it would be cool, but I'm not a DM so... I might return it to the library before I'm finished.

Alexander Linden 10-21-2010 09:11 PM

Diablo Archive... it is a big book of four novels taking place in the universe of the Blizzard series Diablo.

It has... Legacy of Blood (currently reading this one), The Black Road, Kingdom of Shadow, and Demonsbane
