What makes/would make you stay on Trisphee?

Hey guys!

Fen posted in the Town Hall regarding users leaving Trisphee as of late. As your friendly user relations admin, I was tasked with making a more involved thread for this issue. There are two sections, one for those who're active users and one for those who're considering quitting.

1. For those who're interested in Trisphee, what makes you stay active? What're we doing right?

2. For those who're considering cutting down their time/quitting, what would you need to see/want to have to keep you active? What features/events/etc. would make you keep coming back?

I'd like to hear all your opinions in complete honesty, but please keep all posts civil.

1.) Evvvveryyything. No, not really, unfortunately, but I think it's the people here, plus the fact that I haven't taken too long of a hiatus yet, so everything still is familiar to me, unlike Ernya. I took a long hiatus there, and everything's grown/changed, and I don't feel like I fit anymore.

Also, the events are also keeping me in, plus the items. I love Trisphee's general genre and theme. The events make it interesting, and I wouldn't want to miss them because so far, they're all different and not all post-count/probability based...

Another thing is the family-ish feeling. There's no huge gap between people who can donate and those who can't. And the staff takes an active role in the community. I really appreciate that, being able to talk normally with staff members and being able to also own donation items. There's no feeling of "I'm staff and better than you", or "Crap, I'm hella poor."

I guess I could also bring up the avatar layering system here, but that's not really the main point now, is it~

EDIT: Oh effing...I hope you were done reserving posts, Sei >.<

Sei 06-27-2011 04:36 PM

Thank you for your opinions, Espy. *nods*

Is there anything we could improve upon, in your opinion? We're trying to grow and need to know where we should focus our efforts. :3

( Yes, I was done reserving posts. xD )

Demo 06-27-2011 04:37 PM

What keeps me here? The items, the users, and the quest I am on right now. Honestly this is the only site I am trying to be active on and that is because the users here are by far better than any other site. Another thing is that I kinda like Trisphee being a smaller community because it is like a small town. Everyone knows everyone else and even the staff actively participate within the community. What more can you ask for in an avatar site?

Sei 06-27-2011 04:43 PM

I'm happy to hear such good things!

We've had ups and downs like any avatar community, but we're growing and trying to improve in any way possible. :3

Espy 06-27-2011 04:43 PM

Have a set schedule for the EVIs >.< Although 1. I've already suggested that before and 2. that might be hard.

Organize the avatar/inventory system a bit?

More items in general, but that'll come in time, so, yeah.

Uh....-slightly braindead-

Demo 06-27-2011 04:48 PM

The only thing I could ask for is a little more active people but thats not something the staff can do XD Honestly just keep up the good job and we will be happy.

Sei 06-27-2011 04:51 PM

Espy, I believe both of those are currently being handled or planned for future update.

Kyp is now working on the evolving items, and is really excited to pump out evolutions, and the staff is considering some sort of inventory update sometime in the future. *nods*

What I like about Trisphee are the nice members and the events and how the staff participates in the events; that's the main reason why I love being here. The staff is also very friendly and they don't act "stuck up" and they participate like any regular member in the community. The events are fun and very creative, they make me thrive to get the items or to post more in the community. I don't really see anything that needs improvement since it's already a great community but it would be nice to see more active members but some people just like to lurk too; guess I'm one of those. ^^;

Nightmare 06-27-2011 06:12 PM

Ohh, reasons why I like trisphee. 8D
Probably the same as everyone else, though.

I think my main reason that keeps me here is the people. Everyone is really nice, despite having different opinions that sometimes clash. People here are generally open and willing to talk and are welcoming to new people. I think that's really important, since new active users are needed.

I also love the items. They so detailed and come in so many different colors (at least the commons). The items get better and better each month it seems, though everyone loves older items. I guess I also like the fact that the staff is willing to accept ideas for new items so they can keep people happy and excited.

My last reason would be the staff. The fact that most are very active on the site is a good feeling. They make things feel safer knowing that they aren't just lurking around. It's good knowing that if you have a probably, the staff will be there for you.

There's a ton of other reasons, too, like the cool events and the fact they aren't with a normal calendar, and can, therefore, be done whenever.

Demo 06-27-2011 06:26 PM

I really love how we all have reasons in common with eachother, it just shows how much we love this site honestly.

Nightmare 06-27-2011 06:29 PM

Demo : I agree. I think it shows that something is being done right.

Demo 06-27-2011 06:33 PM

Exactly Nightmare : )

littl3chocobo 06-27-2011 07:57 PM

i agree with espy on all the reasons i stay though if i ever left it would be for two things, one; when we buy in shops though we can preview the item we cannot see it on our avis or even on an unadorned base, a couple times i bought something i would not wear because it looked bad on my avi but great by itself, the other would be you sei, you stole my cookie, you knew it was mine and you knew i wanted it and yet you took it and ate it anyway, shame, shame on you!

...er what now?

Sei 06-27-2011 10:01 PM

I'm glad that people really do love Trisphee as much as we do.

Espy, I know that is on the list, for sure. *nods*

Nightmare 06-27-2011 10:10 PM

I have to agree with chocobo.
I dislike it when item previews don't work right.
I've looked at some of the items and thought I'd
like them, bought them, then hated them.
Even if it's not on a current avatar, I think the
items need to be on a base of some sort. x n x

It's not so much what Trisphee is doing right that makes me stay, its the people here that makes me stay.

#2

I don't think most people here are leaving because its boring. Maybe a few of them. But it's also the people here that almost make you want to leave. Contradicting right? Well not so much, this is a small community, but the problem with that is although we are more family like. We also fight like family.

Another thing to add, when having real life friends or family join they might have seen your account before, and or information circles around the site about you, in which some people know things that might have been over-imagined. Thus making people have different opinions about you and feel that's exactly who you are because this is coming from a "Source" A.K.A. Friend or Family. :/

OK. OK. I will admit it! I ate them! But in my defense, they were delicious!

Nightmare 06-28-2011 08:25 AM

Illusion, you steal everyone's cookie. >:/
Even mine when I'm not looking.
I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE ONE DAY.

Illusion 06-28-2011 08:50 AM

Pfft.. You gave me the cookie... You had it laying around just wanting me to eat it.

Serra Britt 06-28-2011 08:57 AM

So...why do I love it here? The people are great, the avatars are great, and I really enjoy the (one) event I have participated in. I don't really see myself leaving anytime soon.

Shei_Beloved 06-28-2011 09:55 AM

All the nice people and wonderful threads. You guys all so nice and easy going it's very easy to talk to you all~

Nightmare 06-28-2011 10:07 AM

FFFF - WHAT.
I was SAVING that cookie for later. >:C
YOU KNOW THAT. / shakes fist.

Fey 06-28-2011 11:17 AM

1) I tend to stay more because it's very laid back. Yes, many of the people are nice, the events are fun, but I love that while there are rules they're not beaten over our heads and shoved up our nasal passages at the least infraction. Mind you, I don't think I've done anything to incur the wrath of a mod, but it's nice to know that if I slip up I won't be beaten over the head with my error.

2) Why I might leave, it's not really the site, it's my attention span. Yes, the people her are nice, and the threads are constantly going...but it feels like at times it stagnates. I get tired of being the one to lug a thread out of the mire it gets slogged down in. I also tend to have a very, very short attention span. I like things to move, and when they don't I wander off and find a new shiny to play with.

Lately I've been a lot less active, not because I've run out of things to say or do, just because I've stopped feeling compelled to run around and post like a mad person. Who knows, maybe it's just a slump cause it's summer and we all have so much to do. Let winter envelop us and we'll probably be right back to living in our threads.

Joey 06-28-2011 11:42 AM

What makes me stay is that I like the avatar system here, I have lots of fun with it. Also, I stay because a person that I'm very close with is on here. (Serra Britt :P) Plus, like everyone else said the people here are very nice. And I have always lots of fun in the Boys vs. Girls topic too. Though I wish I could post more too, but I'm not very good at posting, or even making new topics. But I'm working and improving on it because I want to make friends here and be more active as well.

Reyoki 06-28-2011 11:50 AM

I'm staying

1) The thing I love most about Trisphee is probably the fact that it's not like an episode of The Real World or Jackass every time I log on. For the most part, people are willing to settle any disputes they might have with another user quietly.

We also have hardly any spam at all in the forums. I think the Forum Games section filters out a crapton of what would be spam and gives would-be spammers a place to post mindlessly.

I find the avatars to be quite beautiful on Trisphee. They're not so small you need a magnifying glass to see, and the layering system here is the best one I've ever seen on an avatar forum site. I love having the option of wearing 60 pairs of underwear at once, even if you can't see all of them!

The staff members aren't some faceless collective; they're born from the users themselves! Not only that, but they're also willing to actually talk to us! This is a big plus in my book. Some other sites I could mention use only NPCs to do their dirty work, and that, to me, only gives users a reason to loathe the site.

The events here are fun. Granted, I just joined during the Taskal War and didn't attend the Spring Event because I didn't know it was an official event, but I've still enjoyed the events immensely. Using the Word Scramble to get newer users (and some more seasoned users) to look through the past events was quite clever. It made me sad that I'd missed the Festival of Lights and eager to see if it would happen again! I'm also constantly waiting to see what new and exciting thing the staff has in store for the site!

My fellow users hardly ever leave me a dull moment! The only dull times I have on Trisphee are the times when there aren't many users online, but I'm confident that that won't be an issue for very long. After all, the site is still pretty young, so there's still lots of time to build the user base!

Nightmare 06-28-2011 12:05 PM

I think Reyoki put it perfectly. ouo

Mizeria 06-28-2011 12:56 PM

I'm staying. Not cause I'm staff. Not cause I feel I have to be here. but because I love trisphee. Its become my second home and its gotten me through a lot of things in my life. The people are friendly, and the item prices are not crazy.

We've got the best avi layering system around and plenty of items to give us the ability to all look different. Its rare to see avis that are so similar they look copied with just a few items changed.

The forums are mostly drama free as they have mostly always been. A few 'bad eggs' come and go but we are a good community that just wants to grow and see more people arrive.

The Events last long enough for everyone to get the items they want and they are still enjoyed even though they are not limited to a week or so. Its not like we are overwhelmed to get the items before they are gone while still trying to combat the other sites timelines as well. Plus our events are not impossible for people that have limited time online or are just starting.

The items are well made and beautifully done. We may have less updates then most sites but when our updates hit everyone is very happy with the items we get, and each month the items come out and everyone loves them.

Its not hard to make money for the items you want here.
Post a few times and you're almost to 100au
Its not a positive or a negative. Really.
It helps to ensure that people who have no au are able to get au
But it also ensures that the rich keep getting richer

Donating; While its always encouraged its not shoved down our throats like it is with some sites.

>.>;

I think thats everything... probably missed a few things... merph.

Reyoki; I am a faceless staff! bwhahaa...
oh wait that was one of my old avis...
>.>
nevermind

Quiet Man Cometh 06-28-2011 07:40 PM

I like the casual atmosphere around here, the fact that is feels more like a conversation place rather than a forum for specific and regimented topics. It feels more like a coffee shop than a school I could say, as something of an example. There are people that run the place but they are just as much of the community as everyone else. I also love the fact that one can really talk about anything here. I think I'd like to see a few more forums for other things beyond the entertainment section but it's not something that weighs hard on my mind or anything. It's just an occasional thought.

I came to Trisphee on a whim, and stuck around because I enjoy it here.

Jenny Harper 06-29-2011 09:44 AM

No idea why I stay. I have essentially 'quit' in that I haven't posted in ages. I'd come on more but there are no events. I missed the Taskal War and haven't seen many events since.

I thought one was promised? I know you guys are short staffed, but you can get your monthly items out pretty good. Just an observation.

I mostly stick to Neopets now. Dunno why. Just do.

Coda 06-29-2011 10:12 AM

You just MISSED an event -- it closed on Friday after running like four weeks.

gypsydiver 06-29-2011 12:51 PM

I go in and out of sites like this one, only recently coming back to Trisphee. My main draw is the community, which Trisphee has in buckets - all the people are super nice and friendly - and the roleplaying, which Trisphee is a little lacking in.

Events are interesting; keeping new items coming out, the achievements system. Just giving me something to do while I'm waiting on my threads. If people are leaving, maybe it's a little slow. They're probably the leaving kind anyway.

Coda is right you did just miss an event, and your about to miss another next month. We update twitter/facebook every time we have an event or something happens. We would send out mass e-mails. But those tend to get ignored. Now if people actually want us to send out mass emails we can definitely look into it. But the last thing we want is to be throwing e-mails at users to be thrown into the spam box. Yeah we are short staffed and what not but we have been pushing out events now and new items etc.

Reyoki 06-29-2011 02:56 PM

=O I didn't know Trisphee had a Facebook! Can I add Trisphee as a friend?

Fenris 06-29-2011 03:18 PM

you can like us on Trisphee Reyoki, its a page not an account, granted i have a custom account for it I never use it. So i never add friends back on it. I jsut use my personal account to keep everything updated since its an admin on the facebook page I can work on it from there :3

Fenris 06-29-2011 03:20 PM

there is the link

Reyoki 06-29-2011 03:24 PM

I like Trisphee! Now the whole world knows! =D

NikkoGallarado 06-29-2011 04:41 PM

-thinks what keeps him here- One I like working here and the users I talk with people all the time I know many people. I just like being here also I like the items and planing of things. I also do like it when people come and stay chat and get to know one another

What we are doing that users leave? I don't think its us so much just the users they have some problems and may not be able to be on that is about it really.
