Good ideas for remakes?
I recently watched Enemy Mine ( Trailer ) with my boyfriend. It's an amazing movie, if you have no watched it then you should. It's a late 80's classic. We started to talk about how great it would be if the right person remade it. Especially with the effects these days. But not even that. The great actors they could find, it would just be amazing. The film has a great story and meaning, too. What do you think would make a good remake? |
I'd like to see a remake of the Man Who Laughs. (old silent movie)
I've heard its the inspiration for the Joker, and its a pretty good, sappy romance. Nothing wrong with it, but I would like to see it with voices and color. |
I'd kind of like to see a remake of Mazes and Monsters.
They could make Tom Hank's (I assume he wouldn't be getting his role back) delusions in the movie reality you know....since they were to his character. |
I would like to see another attempt at The Golden Compass made, one that actually depicts some of the book's story and philosophy rather than purely the aesthetics.

I'm big on John Wayne movies but unfortunately theres noone good enough to replace him even though i want to see remakes of alot of his westerns. Lawrence of Arabia is another but there really isnt anyone quite as good as sir alec guiness D:<
damn those actors for not being around anymore |
╔═════════════════════════════════╗ (。◕‿◕。) I'd like to see, maybe Casablanca remade with Isabella Rosalini, Ingrid's daughter. Well one of her daughters. ╚═════════════════════════════════╝ |
I know a few people who might disagree with you there Ashy. Never watched full John Wayne movie but he does seem to be one of the types that a better icon than an actor. He's so quintisentially Western that it's hard to think of a new man for the role, even if the acting would be better. ;)
I've seen a few Eastwood westerns, and while I like the guy, I have no need to see remakes of the old movies. I can't imagine a Casablanca remake really, maybe because it's a film that's been references and parodied so much that it could almost be laughable. I actually had to constantly remind myself the first time that it was the original source for what came off to me as cliche after cliche. A lot of older movies I'd rather not see remade unless I think they would benefit from new technology and effects. There's a lot of character in some of the older films that might not surivive transitions. I'd rather see remakes of films that had good concepts but may not have been executed as well as they could have been, for whatever reason. |
No movie should ever be remade that is already a classic because it will only get ruined. I rather not see films be remade, I rather see original story lines or new books created into movies. Very rarely or once in a blue moon the original and the remake both hold their ground well. Dawn of the Dead was good, both the remake and the original.

╔═════════════════════════════════╗ (。◕‿◕。) Sangua is right. No movie should be remade. The originals were so popular because they were so good. You should never touch something that was already working and make it work 'better' for you. ╚═════════════════════════════════╝ |
How about a live-action Jettson movie?
(Since there have been a Flintstones movie) |
The Flintstone movies were awful in my opinion and I can't see the Jettsons faring any better than their prehistory counter-parts.
....Juju has nothing else to add since he cannot think of a movie worth remaking. |

sorry about that double posting

I second Quiet's idea.
I would also like to see a re-take of the Series of Unfortunate Events series... |
Movies should be remade. Some movies are impossible to find due to age and not being released on DVD and will never be released on DVD, but if it's re-made...there is a chance it won't suck, you'll be able to get it on DVD, AND a new generation may even like it too.
Like I've only seen some remakes of some movies-like Planet of the Apes. And I enjoyed the,. Nothing wrong with remakes IF done right. |
I don't think many remakes are any good. The Women was an awful remake. I much rather the old version.
|
I'm not a fan of remakes in general. Especially remakes of good movies. Like the original Clash of the Titans movie. That should have never been remade. It just flopped sop hard.
|
how about Albert Hitchock's The Birds? the movie was awesome for its time . With advancements in movie making this should be a top pick for a remake.
|
i think maybe a remake of the Labyrinth.
but i love the original and it will probly mess it all up doing a remake. |
I'd be interesting in seeing 'updated' versions of movies rather than remakes. The Birds, for instance. Leave the story as it is but possibly update some of the effects. That can still be tough though. I still prefer the old 1950's Moby Dick over the 1990s one because the old whale hunting footage and model whales were better to me than the computer generated whales in the newer film. Of course, advances in those same computer graphics could mean a remake now would be much better. Blah. Too many variables.
Some movies are so old and out of date that they really do benefit from a remake. House on Haunted Hill for one thing. I watched the original with Vincent Price, and the remake with Geoffrey Rush and while I appreciate the original as the source, the latter one does appeal to me more. Personally I'd like to see remake of Jeepers Creepers. Both my sister and I believed it had a solid start and good potential but ended up flopping. In this case, it might be less a remake and more a second try. |
mel brooks' dracula dead and loving it
|
People seem to be going crazy with horror movie remakes (at least for the past few years, now)... the only amazing horror movie remake to me was Rob Zombie's Halloween, I loved it, and I love Rob Zombie, but ye. As for movies I'd like to see remade... I'm not really sure, no real movies come to mind. Maybe I'd actually like to see The Fifth Element remade, but only if Gary Oldman had some sort of cameo appearance in it. xD |
