xMen; First Class

Seen it? Whatchya think of the movie?
I watched it last night and thought it was pretty damn good, mind you, I'm a fan of xMen though :)

Btw, what was your favorite scene?
Mine was the scene were Erik and Xavior go to recruit Logan/Wolverine and he's all like "Go fck yourself." It had made me laugh SO much <3

princeofrose 07-20-2011 10:22 PM

I loved the movie! My favorite scene was when Magneto deflected the bullet and hit Xavier. I gasped at that part I couldn't believe it (I didn't know that that was the reason and how he got the wound that paralyzed him.
Am I the only one who could totally see Xavier and magneto as a couple? I mean seriously it was SO there specially how magneto immediately went to cradle Xavier in his arms and started to cry. So heart wrenching *sobs*

Mysticism 07-20-2011 10:32 PM

.o.
Now that I think about it, I can see those two as a couple xD
Xavior with the rich boy look going on, and then Erik/Magneto as the rough lookin German xD
Which, the actor they used for young Magneto wasn't half bad lookin, although, the actor does look as though he's got a mix of German and Irish in'm. The Irish you can see in his jaw line, and the features on his face show off the German in his xD

Shenandoah 07-20-2011 10:48 PM

I would like to see it... probably i will wait for it, though, as that's a series I collect.

Fey 07-21-2011 10:33 PM

I've seen it a couple times, and liked it each time. I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu::breath::uuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge comic fan so I always have to remind myself the movies are AU from them. I loved seeing a few small things put in for those of us that know what's going on...and a few things made me head-tilt in confusion. One was 'riptide' I mean Shinobi, I mean...whomever they thought he was. Th eother was Moira...the stripper, I mean US agent...wait...apparently after all this she flies to Scotland, has a kid, becomes a medical professional and gets one heck of an accent.

And lets not even start my LOLZ on the accent 'wheel-o-change'.

And yes, the whole dynamic between Charles and Eric(I always want to spell it Erich since that's the german spelling...) is totally a couple...it's a long shipped thing in the fandom I"m afraid....

Funkduder 07-21-2011 11:18 PM

Seen it? Yus!
It was a excellent movie, one that definitely was worth its investment.
favorite scene? probably the same one as your's, mysticism, but my heart went out to darwin when he got F-ed up.

Fey 07-21-2011 11:44 PM

yeaaaaaah, poor darwin. though I still argue it shouldn't have happened, after all darwin would have been able to adapt to it...but plot devices happen.

(。◕‿◕。) Considering this movie is like the 4th or
so in the series, I didn't expect too
much from it. But watching it, I was
shocked to see how amazing it was. I
really loved that we got to know how
each became what they are in the
earlier movies. I loved the movie
personally.

It was okay to me. It wasn't that great, wasn't that bad, just okay.

Jurinjo 08-14-2011 04:51 PM

I loved the movie! The friendship Xavier had with Eric was a great piece of the whole movie. I was just WAITING for them to show how Xavier becomes a paraplegic and was still surprised when it happened. It was a touching moment, the walls that divided two sides of how the "Mutant Problem" should be handled. The joke at the end about him balding was a bit forced. I also don't think he should've erased her memory...why do they always give Xavier a sad romantic history? The only children he has bared, to my knowledge, went crazy and stuff.

The fact Emma was in Origins as a little girl, then in this movie as a full grown woman was confusing. Two separate continuities within movie prequels? They sure love to alter and kill off mutants left and right that sometimes I wish they didn't kill.

Fey 08-14-2011 08:58 PM

well...and I just realized this RIGHT NOW, emma's age isn't as confusing as Scotts. After all, in origins we see Xavier standing, so he's not been shot yet, and emma's a teenager. This works fine. However, we see a teenager scott/cyclopse in the same movie...and he's NOT old enough by the next round of movies to account for that time lapse...nor is it ever explained how his younger brother is now so much older than him....
But I usually just call 'different universe' and it's all better in my brain cannon.

Hermes 08-14-2011 10:46 PM

there should be a "spilers within" kind of tag on this thread ^^; Just a suggestion, not a command XD

Fey 08-14-2011 11:02 PM

......wouldn't that be assumed? I mean..it's a thread about a movie, so yeah, gonna TALK about it LOL ;) just givin' ya a hard time

fineheart234 08-16-2011 10:49 PM

I really liked it. I know about the characters and yes there were things where I was like. "No thats not how it goes" but it better to think of it as it's own movie and not any part of the others.
Although if you read the comics you would know that maybe prof. x's actual power is to not get brain damage from all the blows to the head he gets. I'm surprised he ain't drooling on himself...
Anyway back on the topic of the movie. I enjoyed it. Magneto (Erik) was my favorite character in it. In my opinion they were pretty creative in how he could use his powers. I did not like how they weakened Prof. X
When Emma was all like "You can't get me when I am like this" He could've just mentally bitch slapped her.

Fey 08-16-2011 11:09 PM

well yes, the man that took down teh Shadow King would have smacked that blonde into the next continent...but where's the plot in that LOL

fineheart234 08-16-2011 11:16 PM

Well it would have been hilarious. XD
It would've also shown the newer readers or viewers how powerful he really is.

Fey 08-16-2011 11:48 PM

though, is he even back in the current comics? I've not read in a few years, so I just know he went off into space a while ago....

fineheart234 08-17-2011 10:37 AM

I actually have no idea. I havent kept track of that either :/

Fey 08-17-2011 09:35 PM

I'm too lazy today to go look...I shall do this later, cause curiosity will kill me

fineheart234 08-18-2011 10:51 AM

I know right same here D:

Fey 08-18-2011 09:24 PM

so.... apparently he is back on earth, but I got as far as
got reeeeeeeally mad and left the site. so, yeah, that's all I know.

Hmm...so origins was before first class in the timeline? I forgot the year thing. For some reason I forgot...jsut because xD

I forgot Scott was in even the movie...I can't even remember seeing his brother anywhere in there.

I'll go cry now D:

Fey 08-19-2011 10:54 AM

yeah, you've noooooooooooooooo idea how much that pissed me off. Lately marvel's been pulling a LOT of sh*t like that, and I don't get it. it's like the writers just want to kill someone off to make the plot easier.

But yeah, the only way I can make the two movies sorta mesh is to assume origins happened first(though...we'll ignor that three mile island happened after all the stuff in first class). And we never see Alex in Origins, I just know that he's the younger brother, so that's why the comment.

Jurinjo 08-19-2011 01:00 PM

-brain frizzes with continuity confusion-
x_______________X

Fey 08-19-2011 10:06 PM

::sprays off Ju's brain::
don' worry, it happens to us all

I know same here I have also been extremely pissed especially with the fantastic four. I mean what the fudge

I just lost all faith in marvel.

Fey 08-20-2011 09:12 AM

the only saving grace is that I know some writer down the line is just gonna bring 'em back. They've already done it with others...so yeah.

fineheart234 08-20-2011 09:33 AM

I know I agree. It's just idiotic that they even thought of that.

Fey 08-20-2011 08:09 PM

what, thought of killin' 'em off, or bringin' 'em back? the dead shall rise in marvel, and I'm not talking hte stupid zombies storyline.

fineheart234 08-20-2011 08:36 PM

The zombies storyline was decent.
I was pretty much commenting on the killing them off. It really serves no purpose.

Fey 08-20-2011 08:44 PM

sure it does...conflict creation and all that crap

fineheart234 08-22-2011 03:27 PM

Well in a way yes.

kitkitthecat 09-11-2011 03:51 PM

Is this movie out on DVD yet? (I really want to see it)

Fey 09-12-2011 12:26 AM

uhm, probably not, thor came out first and won't be on video for another week...I shall ask the internet!
:: prods it with a stick::
orrrrrr, they come out the same day. thank you internet.

Fiyero 09-12-2011 10:39 PM

the movie IS out on DVD. it came out last Friday.
I just bought it...lol

I actually really liked this movie...minus the oversight of Emma Frost being an adult in the 70's in this movie..and being a teenager in Origins:Wolverine....rofl

Fey 09-13-2011 01:52 AM

well, the logic of emma is this....
Xavier could walk in Origins, IE this was before First Class...IE cannon is not bent too much. It's only ASSUMED he takes the saved mutants in Origins to his mansion...no fact.......though......Patric Stewart is THE Prof X......

Jurinjo 09-13-2011 11:15 AM

Well why couldn't you phrase it that way before Fey? xD Now I get it.

Oh and I watched 1st class again (at least the middle part before having to leave for work). Every time I do something like that I end up day dreaming of x-men related stuff and almost started a thread but then realized I couldn't find a proper list of superpowers. =\

Sabrehagen 09-22-2011 11:40 AM

I liked it, it didn't follow the comic really; but it was still good.

My favorite part was when Banshee was first learning to fly and just went thud xD

Hokan-jin 09-24-2011 01:56 PM

This was an awesome movie, I saw it in theaters and first thing on DVD :) Although I have to say the 15 second scene with Logan had me howling! Eric and Charles expressions as they just walked out were freakin' hilarious!
