Jobs
Sooo I just got curious and I'm wondering what professions you guys are in, or are in but would like to be in something else!
Topics: Your current job Your dream job How much money you make versus How much you would like to be making (You don't have to give specific details on how much money you make, just include how much of a raise you would like or something or other) If you feel your paycheck is fair for what you do Also, I am wondering if anyone here is a professional body-piercer and if they could explain to me what it's like, about how much money I would expect to be making (per month), and what I need to get started. You could PM me or reply here. Thanks! |
Most piercers in this area also do tattoos.
You should do both. Around here they charge 30-35 dollars per piercing normally. No idea how much you'd make per month. I'm in college to get a degree in business management. That's my job and I have to pay them to have it. It sucks LOL |
Ooooo I like the two jobs I happen to be in right now.
My dream job is to own my own anime store travel from con to con and well run my own con. My two jobs I do now is~~ I work in a bakery and I Bartend. |
I can't find a fricken job and I need one desperately. lol
|
Current Job: Unemployed but looking
Dream Job: any retail wholesales job like macy's, toys r us, sex stores (don't ask why), costume stores, gas station stores, etc. As well as a really good freelance artist making lots at cons by crocheting tiny kawaii thing like plushies as well as making prints, I'm not sure if my art can make something |
Looking for a job at the moment. Have one I'm going to apply for now. I've done retail, food, movie theater stuff, and research and data entry for a survey firm. Not exactly stimulating work.
For a dream job I think I'd like to be a travel writer, though I'm not sure since I haven't done it yet and can't say how much I like it. ;). I do like to travel though, and I like to write and keep journals. |
I'm currently working as a waiter.
Not very formal though, I just clean tables and such in a café. To be honest, I have no idea what I want to do in the future... :\ I don't earn very much either... About $16-17 per hour. |
Dude...16-17 dollars is a lot! ...how many hours do you get a week?
I work retail. I get almost $10 less than you. And every night I run around the store trying to meet my "deadlines" so to speak. A waiter...do they earn good tips where you are? I hear such good things about tips that I'm considering getting a job at a Ruby Tuesdays or something xD ps I'll post regarding the main questionairre later xD; |
Let's see.
Currently I'm a cashier at Staples. I don't know what my dream job is yet. I know I want to work with history. So maybe in a museum? I just know somewhere more cubicle like. Right now (just got a 15 cent raise) I make $7.65 an hour, 10-20 hours a week. I would like to be at about $60k-$80k for a yearly salary. I definitely know that my pay is NOT fair for what crap I get dished out between customers, coworkers, and a manager who is targeting me. I get customers yelling at me because of company policy or coworkers who tell them false information. The manager is self explanatory. |
retail from hell but i get to go to the bakery so it may improve
fuuu~<3 anything art, drawing, painting, building, oh my^^ i think being a site artist for an avatar community, or being a tattooist<3 though i am afraid of blood and noone likes pixelists in avi comunities so both my jobs are out hahahaha~ not buch, and i would not know, if i could find a way to live i'd do it for free, being a 'starving artist' would be ok as long as i was not a homeless one |
ミ I currently work at AMC Theaters, getting trained to work Concession and Usher. With potential to work Box Office and Guest Services. My dream job is to be a parent. >>; */shot* |
Current Job: I work for Japan Airlines as a purchasing agent.
Dream Job: If my job paid a bit more and was slightly less stressful, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I don't want to release my salary information, but I do think I should be paid more. But in the current economy, one can't really complain too much as just having a job is already a blessing. |
I am curious if anyone here is a go go dancer. I have read somewhere that they make around $34,000 a year, about the same salary as a high school teacher in Idaho.
|
O.o
I know a lot of go-go dancers(my brother and his friends all work at bars/clubs) and they don't make that much that I'm aware of...at least not in this state.... Current Job: retail monkie; I help guests as well as do the deposits, which means I handle all the money that goes to the bank. Dream Job: no idea, I used to really want to work with Big Cats, but now I'm not sure...I'd love to be a costume designer/seamstress, but as that's what I love doing I know better than to try to do it for a job since I'll end up hating it..... |
Ginger, are you in Idaho too? o.o
All the piercing places I've seen around here are run in conjunction with tattoos... except for Claire's, but at some point you just have to grow up and go to a big-girl shop. =P I don't know if you have to be a tattoo artist to do piercings as well, but you'd probably be looking at better money if you did both. I work in a grocery store bakery at the moment, and it's alright. I have nothing to complain about, except that it's part-time and probably won't sustain me through my life. My dream job would be something where I could sit down and draw - any kind of drawing, I don't really care. I'd probably have to move out of state to find something like that, though. |

It's not too much in Norway. xD Our economy is like... BOOM! I don't know how to explain it. Usually I work from around 10am till 4pm. So 6 hours 5 days a week. I sometime work on Saturdays too, if they ask me. Wow... I think that maybe a 10 year old would have gotten $6-7 per hour... That's an insanely small amount. o: I don't really get tips. xD |
10 Year olds can work in Norway? =O
Wow...hell in the US I'd LOVE to earn that dollar amount for what I actually do (so I'm earning like $10 more than I should haha...well 8. I'm getting paid $2 less than the county only a mile down the road.) haha no the main questionaire I meant the questions asked in the first post. ------------------ Your current job I do modulars at a retail company. Meaning...when you see new items, or things have changed on shelves that's what I do. Seasonal items don't magically hop up on the shelves! ...Though that would be nice xD I also stock and pull freight to the floor. Your dream job Something analytical and organize-y. But at the same time I don't like it being too stressful I don't work well under pressure. I'm considering to be a teacher, an artist (once I take a college class too work up my skills), and something in the medical field. Be it with the patients or the paperwork. Part of me also wants to be a manger of some sort. But idk...working with people is annoying to me because I want things PERFECT. (and I know very well mpst people just won't care as much yet it doesn't help me much) xP Money Situation I earn as much as my coworkers and I must say $8 an hour isn't enough to support a family of 6 people. If it wasn't for welfare we really wouldn't be making it as far as food goes! While I'm content with my job now I don't plan on sticking around for too long. I should probably transfer to a store in a nearby county. They get $2 more and it's only 1/2 mile from one store here and only 3 from the one I actually work at. pfft so unfair. I could complain a lot about the people I have to work with temporarily. They should NOT be complaining as much as they do when they know we get paid so much less than them. HARUMPH |
Well no matter for me...I should usually get like over €50 P/W..:3
|
My Dream Job is to be a Voice Actress.. I want to work with Funimation x3 I love anime, But I don't live close enough to try out for auditions and to beable to actually get into Funimation I'd also have to have acting experiance under my belt.. Professional acting exp.. which sucks.. I don't like it when People stare at me .. I have too deep of stage fright.. which is why I want to be a voice actress! not so many people!
*Day Dreams about being the next Laura Baily or Monica Rail* 8o I have no job currently... I suck at finding them. *glares at the outside world* |

I'm applying at my favorite resturant for some sort of position.. so.. I'm hoping xD
|
I've applied to any store even a bible store (I'm an atheist) and nothing happened
|
A lot of stores around me are closing down... so that makes it even LESS chance of me getting a job =(
|
Mine is the fact that we have 2 wal-marts here, none of them want me, as well as I don't speak Spanish
|
How is it a 10 year old can make $6-7, but I am double the age and barely make above the $7. -__-
I don't get how things are. People are obnoxiously rude to me because someone else tells them something wrong. I don't get paid enough for this crap. Never work for Staples; you will wish to never been near the businessmen, back to school, old people, or anything of the sort. |

I wish that was the case. You'd think since I was hired as a cashier I wouldn't have to be the info booth and door greeter.
I think door greeters get paid more… anyone know? |
How would I know, I haven't worked with the public since October?
|
At Wal-mart the base pay for door greeters is lower than cashiers. Can't say for other companies.
|
Oh Glad I reloaded. Was about to say the same thing as Serra Britt. Darn internet went down at like 10am this morning. -sighs-
I can't wait for all the back to school SALES! =D I may not be in school right now but some things I saw I just don't want to pass up on. A few notebooks lying around can't be too bad. Maybe even a backpack...or I can keep to my plain Gray Targus bag. |
Serra; we're suppose to greet better than Wal-mart greeters. And Cashier pay at our walmarts is 9 an hour. We have to be more like Hotel door people. Greet them, ask if we can help them, etc.
|
I did that at the costume shop, ot wasn't bad we added our personality to it instead of being like robots
|
@Liosh, That sounds like what the Wal-Mart greeters do too. But I was only a fill-in for them and never actually got to do the training specific to door greeters.
Now, Wal-Mart cashiers on the other hand...they have to hold conversations as they ring out the customers >.> |
My Walmart cashiers don't hold conversations cause the time frame I go there is like beween 10pm-3am
|
I'm suppose to make small talk. I don't. -__- Usually I get the ones who tell me they don't understand what "Sign and hit done" means.
|
LOL, it's funny that there are some people can't really read the labels and price tags. and they usually question the obvious
|
Okay so; I just went to check the online system to see if next schedule's week is posted yet. Instead I see that my Saturday shift was changed. And nobody told me. I was scheduled 11:30-5. They changed me to 4-9:30. When I go in tomorrow, all hell will break loose. I'm gonna tell them I based plans around working 11:30-5 and that I can't work the 4-9:30. Then ask how many days ahead they have to tell me of a change in time. And then give a piece of my mind on how rude it is to change without asking me!
What do you guys think? |
yea, they should of told you first even dumb employees shall not enter Staples
I got an interview at a supermarket |
Tomorrow I get to confront them on the schedule.
Supermarket jobs I hear can be good. |
it's a part time job
