Once friends now lost- Neirra & Rose [Possibly M]
This grand tale takes place in a not so distant land where humans along with many other races live in coexistence. This however did not mean that times were peaceful, there were treaties and pacts that kept wars at bay but they were held together by thin wires. It seemed at a drop of a pin war could be unleashed across the lands ripping such ties and promising of peace asunder. Two young souls were dragged into the middle of such a conflict after the ruler of the light elves was slain in cold blood. This act caused both of the elven kingdoms to lash at one another's throats, to begin a what seemed to be endless war of carnage and bloodshed.
But in the mean time, our tale begins a bit before all of this happened. During a time where peace was not so much of a lost forgotten dream to never be within grasp. Our tale begins here in the lands of the light, ruled by the fair and just king who welcomed all with open arms. Even though the talk of peace was still heavy in the air there were still small conflicts between the different races of the land. Some thinking they were superior to the other, while others despised the thought of peace to it's very core. The light and dark elves being two of these races thinking just along such lines, Light's thinking that they were the chosen race of the goddess while the Dark believed that peace was unnecessary believing the underworld goddess they prayed to would one day rein over the the world. This story begins here with a minor conflict between these very two races...
"Get back here!" A sudden shout could be heard across the field that boarded the forest and the entrance to the pathways that later lead into the caverns that housed many of the Dark elf clans. Even with peace between the two elven races it was very uncommon for the two to see eye to eye. The sudden cry had been from a small group of light elves that seemed to be young teenagers, from the looks of things they were chasing a sole dark elf that had ventured too far from the forests edge. 'need... to keep running' He thought to himself before looking forward and nearly freezing at the sight, his ears dropped suddenly before he quickly changed his course of action and dove behind a boulder next to the open pathway. It was leading into the Light elf's main city, he knew that in truth he never meant to get this far but with being chased and the idea he couldn't take on three opponents at the same time... it had driven him a bit further from his forest edge then he wanted to be. He sat there a few moments he looked to be at least 12 himself though he was almost the same height as the boys chasing him that meant little in a three against one and he was unarmed having dropped his dagger somewhere near the forest when he was startled by the three. Catching his breath he looked from behind the boulder to see he seemed to confuse the three after him for the moment, though he couldn't count his luck yet if any of the guards from the city saw him. "Today's not my day... " He said under his breath before leaning back against the rock and closing his eyes for a moment, he hardly had the energy to keep doing this he cursed himself for not listening to his mother and staying where the protective lines were. Though his moments of resting were soon cut short as he heard footsteps drawing closer and closer to his location. To avoid from getting cornered against this rock he bolted again from behind it and only glanced once to make sure he had a purpose for running. It was the three light elves once again as they started chasing him yelling at the top of their lungs for him to stop and get it over it. He needed to just get back to the forest, he had a advantage in the darkness. His kind could see fairly well in the dark but the light elves couldn't at least there he could hide and get the hell out of this mess. Though this time around his run was short lived as he found a pop hole in the field and quickly met the ground almost with his face though he stopped himself short. He was about to right himself but was stopped as a foot met the middle of his back keeping him pinned to the ground. "Get off!" he snapped at them, not that it'd do any good even if anyone was around it'd be his luck it'd be a light elf and they'd not bother to stop this. The boys just laughed at his attempts to try and get off of the ground though the one did let him get up after a few moments but he was quickly forced back to the ground by one of the other two. "You should have stayed where you belong" The leader of the three spit out towards him as the other two held him with his back against the ground. The boy pulled out a small dagger and quickly made a cut going from right eye down to mouth. Though they didn't know this strike would be the last they would get on him. The fresh wound on his face stung as blood got in his eye, though he was lucky more damage wasn't done in the process as he forced himself free of the two holding him down. Punching one in the face and quickly moving to strike the other in his temple. After he was free of the two he grabbed for the dagger striking the leader's wrist in the process of he dropped the blade. Grabbing it he bolted from the group of boys before they recovered and figured out what had happened. It was a good ten or fifteen minutes later when he stopped running, finding a tree rather dangerously close to the city's wall as he hide behind it praying he was out of site. He panted heavily but tried to keep the noise he made to a minimal as he recovered. His face stung and he needed to get back to where he knew he'd be safe... or at least safer then he was here. Why had he bothered coming out here anyway he had wanted to prove that not all of them were the same, just because his father was killed by Light elves he wanted to prove that they weren't all like that ... but he saw he was poorly mistaken, if he hadn't of gotten away who knows how far the three would have gone. |
( blah, not as good as your post. D: ) The forest was dark, but unlike the others Judith was not afraid of the dark. Other children feared the forest, they believed it to be full of evil Dark Elves. She choose not to believe the tales. Maybe because deep down inside she knew that they weren't all evil. Judith chose to see the good in everyone. Despite what others said. Deep inside of the forest was fresh water, herbs and plenty of other natural resources that her people needed. Even though she was only ten, Judith would often venture in to the dark of the forest alone. No matter how many times the elders scolded her and tried to fill her brain up with horrible stories about Dark Elves, she still went. Inside of the forest she could be herself, there she felt at peace. She wasn't afraid, she felt invincible. When everyone was preparing for a festival later in the night, Judith slipped out her guarded home, being very small she could easily slip in and out without being noticed. Except for the occasional time when she was caught quietly crawling in to bed after her adventures. Though even when her parents did scold her and threatened to lock her in her room, they never did. Maybe they didn't mind it deep down inside. Judith ran her hand along an old tree, wondering to herself how old it might be. How odd that something could be so old but could be so strong. She wanted to be like a tree when she grew old. She stood on the tree's massive roots, on her tippytoes. Judith pressed her ear against the cold bark, wanting to listen to the tree. When it didn't speak she was disappointed. Why did the trees speak to others but not her? An abrupt noise caught her attention. Snow white eyes scanned the forest that surrounded her. Who was there? Or what? She walked along the roots, wondering if she should investigate, she leaped down to the ground. Why not? "Hello?" she squeaked, her voice was quiet. Judith walked quietly towards where she had heard the noise. She stopped immediately as she saw a dark figure. Her heart pounded in her chest, she suddenly felt nervous. Then she saw that he was bleeding. Judith had never seen blood before. She pushed her body forward to approach the wounded stranger. She twirled a strand of dark hair around her finger as she stood a few feet away from him. "Do you need help?" she asked sweetly. |
((Your post was fine ^^ i liked it really))
Even with his eyes closed he had a hand gripped on the daggers hilt ready to strike if he felt he had to. Though starting something this close to the town's walls wasn't in his best interest. He started to bolt again after he noticed the person was approaching closer though he hardly had the energy to move just let. If it came to it then he had the energy to strike and tat would be about it. For now he stayed silent thinking maybe the person would shrug it off and walk away, though he was hardly that lucky. As the girl spoke he opened his left eye and looked at her showing no sign of fear or pain, he had no room to show her a light elf any sign of weakness. Though he did have the odd thought that damn this girl was short he was at least a few good inches taller then she was. Even with her quiet talking he feared she'd draw the attention of the guards that walked the area. He never answered her hello though she walked forward a little more and seemed to take notice of the slash he had gotten not too long ago. "Tsk.. Not from you I don't" He hissed out at her keeping his voice down trying to make sure she was the only one who noticed him. If any of the guards found him that'd probably be it even with the peace papers the two races hardly liked one another. By this time he had managed to regain his breath so he was ready to bolt away from this odd girl trying to be nice and talk to him. Standing he seemed to ignore her further as he checked the cut on his face before opening his other eye again. Aside from it still bleeding a little he seemed to be in good enough health, though that didn't mean he trusted her at all even being shorter then he was. |
( T-thank you o wo;; <3 I always worry that I'm not good enough! ) Judith didn't expect him to react kindly to her. She remained silent for a few moments wondering if she should leave, but then curiosity got the best of her as she examined his wound from afar. "Did Light Elves do this to you?" she asked, her face seemed stricken with sorrow. The thought of her people treating another so poorly due to their differences made her feel sick. How could people be so cruel? How could anyone hate another so much? She didn't understand. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. She felt ashamed. "I'm sorry that they did that to you." her eyes fell from him to his feet. "We're not all like that, believe it or not." Judith looked up at him, he seemed tense. "Are you afraid of the guards?" she asked and tilted her head to the side like a curious animal. "They tend to stray from the forest. Their heads have been filled up with so many stories and they believe them." she smiled at him. "They may see me with you, but I don't mind." she cautiously stepped closer to him. She slipped her hand in to her dresses pocket and took out a cloth. "Here," she brought her shaking hand up to his face, she was nervous. "You need to put pressure on it, to stop the bleeding." she pressed the cloth gently against his wound. |
Hearing her question he didn't feel he needed to answer her, wasn't it obvious? Why did she care, the way she acted this girl really did seem to care? What was going on, there had to be something up with this. "Tsk..." He spit out towards her comment of sorry, he didn't want her pity. If he had the dagger from the start of the fight the light elves would have been worse off then he was at the moment.
"I Don't care if you and your people are or not all alike!" He had raised his voice a little as he spoke though he quickly regained himself knowing here wasn't the place to test his bounds. He crossed his arms and stood there feeling almost cornered by this girl she didn't seem to back off at all even with him being one of her known enemies or at least of her people. He shot her a quick glare before looking away from her at her questioning what he was scared of. "As if, there's worse things in the forest then your guards that are so high of themselves." He seemed cross with her question keeping his arms crossed, though his one hand still held that dagger even though he had it hidden for the moment. He was almost insulted she thought such a thing was all of her kind so damn full of themselves? Sure he couldn't beat a guard one on one, experience alone would be his downfall not to mention the armor they wore, but that didn't mean he had to say he was scared of them. He was still not looking at her, his guard seemed down though he was still a bit worn out from the chase earlier and he was hardly fully trained to be alert like most of his kind. "phh..." He heard her comment about being seen together but he didn't care really if any of his clan saw her they'd probably kill her on he spot if not worse. "Tsk, it'll be fine I've ha- ..." He seemed to shut up feeling her press the cloth against the wound, admittingly he had flinched at the touch expecting it to be a cheap trick or something with being taught that trusting the light elves was against the teachings of the goddess. He seemed to have no idea what to do with this though after he manged to regain himself he quickly raised a hand and slapped hers away from his face stepping back in the process. "What are you doing? I.. I never asked you to help me, I don't need it anyway." He seemed almost at a loss of how to react to her let alone how she was behaving. |
( sorry this was a bit short * A* ) Judith flinched when he hit her, no one had ever hit her before. Except for her brother, he would pin her down and hurt her whenever he heard that she had been in the forest. She clenched the cloth in her hand, for a moment she felt angry but she wouldn't allow herself to misunderstand him. It probably wasn't easy to trust her, he was probably being stubborn and didn't want a Light Elf to help him. Judith wondered if other Dark Elves would taunt him for it. Her being a Light Elf and him being a Dark Elf. She knew about their hatred for each other. Her parents didn't like Dark Elves, they would speak badly of them quite a bit. Whenever she spoke up to defend them, her parents would laugh. They would pat her on the head and say you're too young to understand, you're still naive. She wouldn't speak, but she would always want to say no you're too stubborn, you can't bring yourself to see the good in people if they aren't like you. Her mother was hit her if she ever spoke back. Her father would be disappointed. "Well, I was helping you." she answered. "I know that you didn't ask for my help, you probably won't accept it because I'm not like you." she bit her lower lip nervously, afraid that she could offend him. "You need help, you just refuse to accept it from me." she smiled weakly. Judith nervously played with the cloth, then slipped it back in to her dresses pocket. "What is your name?" she asked politely. Judith's big white eyes looked in to his. |
(silly your fine ^^ thats far from short trust me)
The words she spit out so suddenly made him notice that he was being stubborn, hell he had come out all this way to prove they weren't all the same and here he was acting just like the rest of his kind. His parent's would be furious if they knew he was talking with a light elf not bothering to kill her on the spot.. not that it mattered both of his parents were dead anyway. He didn't really even hit her that hard when he had forced her hand away from him but after what had just happened he hardly felt it was fair to expect him to just trust her word for something. Though after a few moments he sighed his ears dropping slightly from the previous attentive position as he moved back another step or two and sat down at the base of the tree once again. Not like he could force her to go away it seemed, not without hurting her and that was hardly what he wanted to do... she hadn't given him reason to really hat her, yet anyway. He seemed to ignore her question at first though, debating if he should answer her or not. Though looking back at her catching her white eyes made him feel a bit uneasy like she was looking into his soul even, though he was probably over thinking at that point. Breaking away from her gaze he finally did speak up to answer her "Rhyldrin.... if you must know, you can add it to your list later for your guards" He said with a slightly smug attitude, though what he said was true all of his kind are trained to kill hers surely he'd be on the same list as the rest sooner or later down the road. He never bothered to say anything else about her helping or not. Giving up by now on fighting her help or not though he wanted her to not bother, the wound would be fine aside form leaving a scar and explaining how he ended up being cut in the first place but still. He hardly cared about a scar though, had plenty as it was even at such a young age but it came with the field of work he was being trained for. |
"Rhyldrin?" she repeated his name, it rolled off of her tongue. "That's a nice name, I like it." Judith brought herself next to him, she leaned against the tree's trunk and looked down at him smiling. "My name is Judith," she told him, even though he had not asked her for her name. "I'm not going to report you to the guards or give them your name to put you on a black list." she sounded slightly offended, but deep down she continued to tell herself to be more understanding. Of course he would not trust her right away. He probably could not stand speaking to her. "How old are you Rhyldrin?" she asked him. She sunk down to the ground against the tree's trunk. The ground was cool against her bare legs, she should have known better. Wearing a dress in the forest could cause her to catch a cold. She was silent for a moment, her ears perked up as she listened to the sounds around her. The forest was full of many creatures, some frightening while others were not. Then she brought her attention back to Rhyldrin. "I like your-" she paused for a moment wondering if it was appropriate to say what she was about to. "your skin, it's beautiful. I like the color and your eyes, too. Is it true that you can see in the dark?" |
This one was a chatterbox he thought to himself listening to her say what her name was though he made a mental note of it. He was a bit relived she wasn't going to just report him to the guards, he'd end up in a cell somewhere if not dead if she had done so, really he should have expected it seeing as she was trying to help him a few moments ago. "huh?" He questioned her asking him his age, what did that matter they were probably around the same age though by her size he'd guess she was younger, but he could always be wrong. "er... twelve.." He said continuing to look away from her even though she had moved to lean against the tree for the time being.
The silence after the question was a deserved one, she seemed to like talking. It was odd to him, he was raised thinking it was better to be unseen and heard. He wasn't paying her much mind when she spoke once more catching him off guard and causing his cheeks to flush a little in the process, he thanked his skin color for hiding most if not all of the discoloring. "My skin?" That was a odd thing to hear from anyone not that he seemed to mind her saying that but it was making him open up a little to her, it was hard to ignore her when she was chatting away. "Most of us can... there's a few clans that cannot but they live in areas that don't require such skills" He didn't go into details on that though glancing at her he noticed she seemed to question what he had said so he decided to go on a little "Not all dark elves have the same color skin.. theres some in the northern regions that are said to ave dark blue instead of the coal color... also up there they have little need to see in the dark, but thats just what I've been told." He kind of wanted to one day see if that was true or not, surely she knew there were different types of light elves as well, some having tan skin while others had pale if not white skin compared. After a few moments he fell silent again and seemed to think of what to say why was he bothering to entertain this girl? Then again what was it hurting. "your hair... it's.. I like it. The color I mean, it's not one you see a lot of." That sounded awkward, he almost wished he never bothered to hold small talk now. Though he was sure this conversation was going to be forced to end sooner or later .. the guards of her people would cross over this way eventually or someone from his side would take notice of this, either way was bad. |
"You're twelve?" she said and smiled. "You're older than me then, I'm only ten." Judith listened to him speak, her ears perked up, she listened very closely. "I can't really see well in the dark, that's why I tend to leave the forest when the sun starts to go to sleep." she said and laughed. "But recently I've been stealing my father's lantern and coming here at night. It's quiet here and I like that." Judith couldn't help but look over Rhyldrin's body. He was so tall for his age, much taller than him. She had heard that that was normal for a Dark Elf though, they were always a foot or two taller than Light Elves. She felt so small. "Oh! I never knew that. I don't really know much about Dark Elves. Only what the elders speak of and what I hear my parents speaking about sometimes at night." she became quiet near the end of her sentence. She looked at her feet and moved them back and forth. "Not many people say nice things about Dark Elves. But I'm sure that many Dark Elves don't say nice things about Light Elves either. I don't listen to all of that nonsense though." she wrinkled her nose. "My brother believes it all though, it's really sad how easily someone can be taught to hate. I guess it's because he's young." Her face became hot as it turned red from his complement. "Oh," she stammered quietly. "Thank you." she brought her hands up to her hair and shyly played with it. "Most Light Elves have light hair, like most of them have light skin tones. It's rare for a Light Elf to have dark hair, but it isn't a bad thing. A lot of people are jealous, even my mother. When I was born she was pleasantly surprised." A sudden noise caught Judith's attention. A bell ringing, she stood from where she sat almost immediately. "There's a festival tonight, they ring the bell when it's about to begin. They also might close the gates soon since it's getting dark. I-" she paused and looked at Rhyldrin smiling. "I would invite you, but..." she didn't think that she had to say more. "I'm sorry." |
Listening to her he half managed a smile, it was rather funny all the stories that were forced into his head as a child and here he was just talking away with the enemy. There wasn't anything wrong with her she seemed to think along the same lines he did... a bit more trusting then he'd ever be but she was younger to. "So your the one the watch are in a fuss over" He laughed a little at it, he had over heard the night watch saying they saw a glow in the forest, lights messed with their seeing in the dark so it was throwing the watch into a fit. Though she didn't need to know that, he didn't trust her that much.
"it's true.." He replied to her comment of his kind not saying nice things about the light elves "but ... they have no reason to, the last ones to leave the forest never returned" He looked down a little he never mentioned tat his parents were among that group that seemed to vanish. They were presumed dead, though there was a chance they were locked away somewhere or enslaved by the Light elves. "Most believe what the elders tell them..." He did too to a extent at the least, he had to admit he envied her for having a family still. Listening to her Rhyl smirked a little, he didn't mean to embarrass her wit it but it as a odd color to see and he knew it. "I figured that... it's the first... well almost the first time I've seen someone with that color hair." He never mentioned he had seen her before in the forest, though she probably never knew he was there at that time and it had just dawned on him with the color that he had seen this girl before a few times. Though he was brought from his thoughts as he stood suddenly with his ears going back from the bell ringing. Though he regained himself quickly enough as he looked at her. Thinking a moment he nodded a little "Yeah it is about that time for your people isn't it... " He knew most of the festivals, just out of boredom, his father was into that sort of thing when he was around trying to pass that there could be peace between the races. He held his hands up after sheathing the dagger he had been holding onto in the holder on his belt. "Why are you sorry? Heh... I think I enjoy living a bit more then walking into a place that'd like nothing better then seeing me skinned alive..." He gave her a weak smile before putting his hands back down. "You should go though, you'll be in trouble if your caught outside at night" He was right and really he needed to go, his training lessons were due probably in a few hours and he was already in hot water for the wound on his face and he knew it. Turning he started to walk away from her, he doubted they'd get to talk again and he didn't want to act like he had made a friend here... why were adults so damn stuck in their ways he thought to himself before he stopped walking and then broke out into a flat run before she could say anything further. Maybe... he'd come back to see if she was here again some time. But that depended on if he wasn't punished for getting into a fight with light elves, if that happened it'd be a few weeks at the least before he was allowed to roam anywhere again. |
( blah, I don't think that it's good D8 ) Judith was about to speak but she hesitated as Rhyldrin began to run off in the opposite direction. She wouldn't chase him, she had to return back to her home. Though she was incredibly curious as to where he was going. She wondered where his home was, but maybe it was better not to know that. She turned and began to walk towards her home, as she approached the gates she was very cautious. She was too young to be out alone and she would get in more trouble if someone were to see her returning from the forest. She slipped by the guards, using her height and frame as an advantage. She joined the others in celebration at the festival. After the festival Judith returned to her home. When she saw her brother's wounds she asked him what had happened. A Dark Elf, that's what happened. He attacked my friends and I, he snarled with anger. She kept quiet, her stomach began to hurt. She wondered if Rhyldrin had done this. She wondered if her brother was telling the truth. Probably not, she thought to herself. ------ Months passed and Judith continued to return to the forest. At first she didn't see Rhyldrin and wondered where he had gone to. She thought that maybe he had not enjoyed speaking to her, maybe he wanted nothing to do with her. Then one day as she was collecting herbs she heard an abrupt noise that frightened her. When she looked up Rhyldrin was there starring at her almost curiously. After that he was in the forest every other day. It became Winter and they still met. Spring blossomed, then Summer followed after. When it became Fall, tension between the Dark and Light Elves had become stronger. Fearing for Judith's life, her parents would not allow her to leave their home. A year passed and she had not seen Rhyldrin. Then two years. By the third she had nearly forgotten about him. Only remembering bits of their conversations from the past. Years continued to past as she was held prisoner in her own land. Before Judith's twentieth birthday a war broke out between the Dark and Light Elves. An important figure had been murdered brutally. When his servants had found him they immediately blamed the Dark Elves. Everyone believed them. Judith watched as her friends and family, her fellow Light Elves, became savages. Then she was forced to go to war. The elders knew of her talent in archery. She took her bow and her arrows and left for war. ------ Delicate fingers pulled back the arrow, preparing for it to take the life of another. She was still not use to the smell of blood or the feeling that overcame her before she ended another's life. She closed her eyes as she let go then opened them when she heard a loud thud. Judith stood from where she was crouched, she cautiously approached the body. She stood over the Dark Elf making sure that he was no longer breathing. "I'm sorry," she whispered to herself. She leaned down and closed his eyes with her fingers. She brought her hand to her face to brush away the tears, even after three years of being in the war could not change how she felt about taking a life. She crept away from the body and back to where she had been silently. She had been hiding amongst trees and bushes, she was in a forest. Judith sat down, her body was sore from lack of sleep. Her eyes felt heavy and her head was pounding. She allowed her body to fall backwards against the cool ground. Her eyes closed, attempting to rest. |
He had enjoyed all the times he had gotten to spend with the odd light elf, though upon returning to the clan's area he was scolded for the wound on his face and punished for a week, thus why he never appeared to see her again at the spot they met right away. Though after he got out of his punishment he quickly grew to looking forward visiting the spot when he got the chance. Though this was only to last so long...
As the years passed and his skills grew with further training he slowly forgot about the strange girl with the long red hair, it crossed his mind from time to time but only out of fear of them crossing in the field of war. Though by the time the war really broke out he had long forgotten the girl and their conversations. He left both swords on his back as he stalked a light elf that had walked too far on his route of checking the grounds. This was his lucky night, this would make the fifth one he would manage to kill without a sound, silent kills were something he had grown fond of. The flawless strike through the guards neck was silent ans swift as he caught the body and gently laid it on the ground to prevent further sound. Keeping his wits about him he quickly retook his cover near a tree and went back to scouting out any other stragglers that the main group might have left behind. His eyes were dark red matching his current mood as he walked silently, having only one sword unsheathed from the guard kill moments ago. His breathing was light and almost untraceable as he walked, he needed it to be he had been trained this way. The only main feature he held from when he was a child was the wound on his face had turned into a scar, that and his hair seemed to be in a similar hair style but that hardly mattered. He had stopped moving having heard a thud not too far off from where he was. Though he knew what that meant, probably a light elf having scored a kill.. most of his kind were trained to make the corpse fall without a sound to prevent detection. 'tsk.... ' he thought to himself, probably a archer. He'd have to watch himself if they were still around as he stalked the area seeking to find this light elf, and after seeing the body on the ground of one of his kin he knew it was a archer. Though for the time being he didn't see anyone... that bothered him surely the archer wasn't that quick to leave the area. His ears were alert as ever and he was ready to avoid a arrow.. he was expecting one by this point or a melee ranged archer that he had forced into a corner somewhere. |
After a few moments of laying down she was still awake. She couldn't sleep in a forest that could easily be inhabited by hundreds of Dark Elves. Judith sat up from where she lay, she clenched her bow in her hand preparing herself to keep going. Judith had no choice but to, she had to push herself to continue. She missed her home, she missed her parents. She dreaded the day that she met her brother on the battle field, it had been so long. What she dreaded the most was discovering that her brother was dead. Judith was brought back to reality as she heard a sudden noise. Her ears perked up, listening closely. Her eyes moved quickly around the forest. First behind her, she was afraid that someone would sneak up on her as she rest. Then forward. Her eyes landed on another Dark Elf. Her heart pounded in her chest, she felt afraid. He seemed much bigger than the other Dark Elf, she wondered if he would be a hassle. She thought for a moment about keeping quiet and allowing him to pass, but she couldn't. She didn't think that a Dark Elf would do the same for her. She quietly slipped an arrow out of her pouch and readied herself to attack. She breathed silently, not wanted him to hear her. Her hand quietly brought back the arrow then she let go. Judith wasn't sure if she had hit him, she stood slowly, peaking out from behind the bushes to see. |
He wasn't like most that would have fallen pray to that arrow that silently sped threw the air, he was expecting it almost as if he was counting on it to show where it's owner was hiding. His ear twitched slightly hearing the sound in the air as he moved his arm effortlessly and slashed the arrow before it got near touching him. His red eyes followed where the arrow had come from seeking it's owner.
It was only mere seconds later before he made his move not allowing the archer to get a second shot loaded up as he dashed forward and around the back of a tree to her side. Keeping his breathing steady and moves as silent as possible as he paused in his strike for a second a few trees off from his target. This elf had been the cause of many deaths in this war... they needed to die. Still only holding one sword he ducked from behind the tree he was behind and attacked the archer head on slamming her against the ground and holding her there with the blade at her neck. He never said a word, really he wasn't sure why he had paused, normally he would have run the blade through without a second thought what made him hesitate. Staying silent as he held her against the ground he seemed to smirk a little before speaking in a almost taunting manner. "To kill or ravage you... I hardly thought I'd get as lucky as to find a female on the battle field." Sure it sounded cruel but facts were facts, it was war these things did happen and it was probably a good deterring measure for most females to avoid the front lines. Though dark elf females were almost as viscous as the males if not more so. |
Judith's body trembled as he caught her arrow. Her stomached became knotted. Her hand dove in to her pouch but before she could even lift her bow she felt herself falling to the ground. Her chest hurt as his body met hers. Her head slammed against the cold ground, for a moment she felt light-headed. She closed her eyes tightly from the pain, then opened them. Her eyes met his, she refused to look away. If he would kill her then he would have to look at her. I can't die, was all she could think. I have to try. Her hand caught his wrist as he brought his blade close to her throat. She was afraid to even swallow the blade was so close. Her breathing became harsh and heavy as she struggled to free herself. He was heavy. He weighed more than her, he was also incredibly strong. Judith wished that she had had more time to train before she was rushed in to the war. She wasn't properly prepared for situations like this. Her hand shook as she tried to keep his blade away from her throat. Her free hand stayed firmly by her side, she was attempting to reach her dagger. Then he spoke, her eyes sagged as she heard his voice. "I can't allow you to do that," she almost seemed as if she was teasing him. Her free hand took hold of her dagger and she pressed it lightly against his stomach. "I'm not afraid to hurt you, even if it's the last thing that I want to do." |
Sure he felt her trying to fight him, but it was hardly considered a fight. Though once she spoke he seemed to smirk a bit feeling the blade she had managed to sneak between them. "Well aren't you fun..." Though her words made him sort of curious, last thing she wanted to do? Then why shoot at someone let alone where she had aimed that arrow would have been a death shot for sure.
He didn't remove the blade from her neck seeing as she had him in a bit of bind even if he didn't want to admit it. "You do it girly.. and your going with me" He seemed a bit more serious then his previous statement, he had a point though the kill wouldn't be fast enough to save her life unless more of her kind showed up. "Though you better aim to kill... though... if I were you" He knew if she even made the slightest movement he was going to take her neck, the chances were low but he could possibly live through a wound there. Though after this stalemate sat there for a few moments he knew she wasn't going to remove the dagger till he made the first move. "Tsk... " He hissed out finally before pulling the blade from her neck and stabbing it into the ground next to her, sure this was a bit of a risk but it was within reach and he had another sword, if she crossed him then it'd still be her last breath. "Now... remove your blade before I change my mind and decide I grow tired of living." He seemed to wait to see what she would do though he did keep both of his hands up as he closed his left eye that had the scar running down it and to his mouth even without using both eyes he was ready to kill her if she didn't remove her dagger, he had no plans of ending his life today and this was the only way this stalemate would come to a end. He never took notice of her hair color or that it was odd for her kind, though he hardly paid any attention to such things anymore. |
Judith breathed out heavily as he removed his blade. Being so close to death then suddenly being seemingly alright made her feel alive. She felt a rush that she had not felt for such a long time. Her body jumped as his blade came down next to her, she couldn't help but be startled. Her wide eyes wandered over it then she looked back up at her attacker. She imagined what would have happened if it came crashing down on her. She felt sick. At first she hesitated to remove the blade from his stomach, but she did. She let her hand that held the blade drop to her side, she allowed the blade to slip out of her hand. Her other hand that had held his blade at bay fell on her face. Her eyes wandered curiously over him, why was he allowing her to live? Only moments ago she had planned to end his life. She took notice of his scar that ran down his face. "Where did you get that?" she asked. |
Seeing as she had done as he had asked he got off of her, though this was a deadly little game they were playing it would seem. Grabbing the blade from the ground he quickly re-sheathed it as he watched her. His other hand poised near a dagger that was strapped to his thigh, she made nay move of getting her bow ready or using that dagger she had before he was going to make her regret it.
Though her questioning the scar made him weary of what she was after from him. "A accident over ten years ago" He never told her what had happened or that it was a damned group of light elves that did it, nor did he see a purpose in her knowing. Really he was almost ticked at himself, he should have risked it and just killed her. Or instead of talking to her he should have just killed her, screw the raping shit. "why are you even talking to me? You either have a death wish or you enjoy seeing your pray squirm one of the two" He laughed a little at the thought, though it was a bit too dark for a light elf to be that way so he doubted he was right, maybe she had hit her head harder against the ground then he had thought. Though by this time he did seem to study her look a little, the fair skin and the red hair... what was it about her hair he seemed to remember something or someone. He didn't need to get distracted here not when her comrades could be on their way that's not what he needed. |
Judith breathing returned to normal as he got off of her, she took her dagger and strapped it back to her inner right thigh. She was unsure of what he intended to do next. Would he leave her here? Would he try to trick her and take her life? Judith didn't trust anyone it seemed anymore. Despite her still believing that all Dark Elves were the not same and that equality could be a possibility, the war are destroyed her trust in others. She watched him for a bit, studying his body language, then cautiously stood and gathered her belongings. But she wasn't preparing to strike him, perhaps she would be the one to leave him here. "Neither," she said to him almost coldly. "I don't wish to die, just as much as you do. Besides, blood does not need to be shed. It isn't necessary. I only shot at you because I have no choice but to do what I think will protect me." she paused for a moment, her eyes remained on him. "Obviously I made the wrong choice," she seemed upset with herself. She wished that she was stronger. "I should have let you pass." Judith tilted her head to the side curiously. She examined his body language. "No one else is here, they already passed. I slipped away from the group to travel a bit on my own. You're not in danger, but I probably am." she couldn't help but laugh. |
He laughed harder now listening to her before he spoke "By the goddess, your something else. I could tell this story of crossing paths with a Light elf that said blood need not be shed and no one would believe it" It was really funny to him, all this time all these years of fighting and he came across something like this. Though it did trigger a memory somewhere in his mind of past conversations he had as a child, but the details were fuzzy and he never could remember the person's name he had talked with so often.
"Truth is sooner I die the better off I am, your the first challenge I've had in a long while" That almost seemed funny to him as well a girl of all things had forced him to back off a attack. "but why the hell do you need to know that heh" He was still recovering from the very thought of someone wanting to just cross paths without killing the other, unheard of. "hrm?" He questioned her saying she was in danger. "I hunt alone.." he said almost coldly if she was trying to say more of his kind could be around. "traveling in a group gets in the way of my blades" He still didn't trust her as he took his gaze from her. "Besides who said I was worried.. even if you had a group seeking you I doubt it'd be a challenge... as I said your the first I've run across in a while." He smirked a bit before stepping back a little and leaning against a tree. "now.. if we're done here you can turn on around and start walking, I'm sure we'll cross paths again. Though I make no promise the encounter will be as pleasant as this one." He wasn't about to turn his back on her and really telling her to walk was giving her the upper hand if she choose to strike, but he was willing to risk it for now. |
Judith chewed on her lower lip nervously, wondering if he was really just letting her get away. Her heart was still pounding from when she had fallen to the ground. He could easily pin her down and kill her without hesitation, but he was letting her go. She almost wanted to thank him, but she knew that he would probably laugh at her. She turned and began to walk away from him. Then she stopped, she turned her head slightly. "There's good in you." and then she left. ---- Some weeks had gone by since her encounter with the Dark Elf. Judith had returned to her base and pushed herself to train incredibly hard. She didn't want to be stuck in the same situation but with a Dark Elf determined to end her life. Instead of telling the others of her experience she kept it to herself. They would not understand why she didn't gut him. When she had returned to the base she had overheard the men bragging about their kills. It helped her make the decision of not telling them. They would probably be punished for not killing a Dark Elf as well. She didn't want that. After training for what seemed like forever she felt more confident in her abilities as an archer. She felt stronger and more powerful. Hopefully she actually was. Thinking and being were two completely different things. She left the base unannounced to continue travelling on her own. Perhaps no one would look for her or even notice that she was gone. The men didn't like that women had been brought here to fight. The forest was dark, but the rising sun lit it up and made it seem alive. Judith fiddled with her arrows that she had hand crafted herself, she adjusted her bow on her back and made sure that her dagger was still strapped to her leg. She couldn't afford to lose it. Her ears perked up as she heard some noises, but creeped behind the trees silently. She felt like an animal stalking it's prey. |
He had heard reports of a few archers in the area over the next few weeks though none of them seemed to be the one he had aimed to stalk for the time being. He guessed she had remained at her base or had given up whatever reason she had to be out here in the first place. Shame though he thought to himself she was a bit of fun compared to most he had crossed blades with. Though he comment saying there was good in him still stung like a dagger into his chest, he didn't want to hear such words from his enemy no matter how much they disliked bloodshed .. or even if it was a rather good looking female. Maybe he should have just placed a dagger in her back when she was walking away to save himself the trouble of thinking so much on the encounter.
Though he had kept it to himself as he did with most of his kills or pray as his kind called them. No one seemed to bother him over all, he got new orders to enter a different section of forest then the one he normally patrolled. Not that he hardly cared he had spent the last few weeks in the same area picking off one light elf after another with ease, but at the same time he grew bored of such tactics. He kept his breathing silent as he moved through the forest, the rising sun was making it a little harder to see then he would have liked but the forest kept most things in shadow to his advantage. He had taken notice that a few things were out of place like a branch moved as if someone had passed through here recently. He grinned a bit thinking his next kill might be sooner then he expected, maybe even a challenge. Following what small trail there was to follow he quickly found what he had been stalking making him grin all the more before taking to one of the near-by trees and climbing it to keep a eye on the girl. It seemed to be the one from before with the crimson hair. She seemed to notice what little noise he had made in his climb, this made this little game he was turning this into all the better or at least that's what he thought. He kept following her keeping a few trees ahead of her easily and staying out of sight in the shadows, she seemed quick enough to pick up on each of his movements he'd have to watch her or she'd have a arrow in his neck. The longer this went on she seemed to get a little edgy onto the fact someone was following her by now. Being on a slightly smaller tree then the recent ones he finally dropped to a lower branch before fixing himself to hang down a few feet in front of her, though being upside down hardly put him at a disadvantage and at this range a dagger would be just as deadly as a arrow. "Well if it isn't the little rose from before." He said aloud keeping a sort of smug look on his face staying where he was for a moment before releasing himself and dropping to the ground almost gracefully. Having never gotten her name from before and not really caring to do so he'd giving her a rather fitting name or at least he thought. A beauty with thorns seemed fitting enough in his book. "I said we'd cross paths again didn't I" Though he hardly remembered he had also warned her the next encounter wouldn't be as pleasant and he didn't even have a weapon that was visible drawn. Nor did he know about her training, she could be completely different by now for all he knew but he'd risk it for a good thrill at the least. In truth he didn't have time to really play around with her today. He had been sent to this location to take care of a rather annoying light elf that seemed to get the best of most of his kind that crossed paths with him. Though he'd hardly expect that the elf he was sent to kill today was her own brother... ((been dying to try and get him to fight her brother for some reason or another so here my excuse xD)) |
( That's fine, I like it. That's why I made it her brother, thought that it would be a good twist. <3 ) Judith watched the shadows that surrounded her, her heart jumped whenever she saw a sudden movement. Then she would discover that it was only the wind pushing the trees and bushes around. She regretted coming to the forest so early in the morning, but figured that her chances of encountering a Dark Elf would be slim because they preferred to come out at night. Though only in a few moments she would realise that she was very wrong. Her ears shot up as she heard a familiar voice suddenly, her body tensed and she turned around without hesitation. Judith's eyes grew with curiosity. Why was he hanging there like that? She could easily kill him or take advantage of him. But she wouldn't, she didn't want to be the first one to strike. If he made any motion to harm her, then she would fight back with all of her strength. This time would be different, she hoped. From all of her tedious training. "Rose?" she said under her breath. "You have given me a nickname?" she almost seemed to be teasing him. Like a boy would tease another for liking a girl. Her arms stayed firmly by her sides, she readied her right arm to release her dagger if needed. "What should I call you?" she couldn't help but smile. Judith's smile disappeared as she turned her head to the left slightly, she had heard a rather loud thud and examined the area. Had this Dark Elf brought along friends this time? Was he distracting her while the others made their way to her? Her eyes narrowed and she looked back at the Dark Elf that stood in front of her. "Did you bring your friends with you?" she asked. "What are you doing?" Her heart jumped as she heard another voice. She turned her entire body to the direction that she had heard it from. Her eyes landed on a man with short, messy, red hair. His eyes were as white as hers. His skin was as fair as hers and he was only a few inches taller due to his gender. Her brother. Brishen brought his cold eyes from Judith to the dark elf. He couldn't help but sigh as he saw the two standing there not at each other's throats. "Are you trying to make friends with the enemy like you did when you were a child?" he asked, taunting her. She had always done that as a child. He hated it. Brishen could not understand why Judith had no hatred for the Dark Elves. In his mind they were nothing but violent, disgusting vermin that needed to be exterminated. "You're an idiot, look at you trembling." he spat in disgust. "I don't understand why the elders sent you to war, how many have you let go? How many did you talk to?" the thought of a Dark Elf and a Light Elf getting along made him feel sick. "You forget what they have done to us, sister." |
He laughed a little seeing how jumpy she was, sure it was a odd site to see his kind in day light but it's not like they all slept at the day time hours. "would you rather me call you pray then?" He gave her a bit of a odd look at the fact he had given her a nick name, seeing as she had no will to kill him why not name it.
He never got a chance to reply to her question of what to call him, either way it wouldn't be his name that he gave her not this time. He frowned a little also taking quick notice of the movement. "I told you before I hunt alone.." Had he just fallen pray to a trap, he was letting his guard down. He cursed at himself knowing it was no forest creature, most had fled when the war moved to the forests. His ears went back seeing who was before him now, his target. He never paid attention to the fact these two were siblings as he quickly passed the girl by blades drawn as he launched a attack towards this new comer. Though the first blade was deflected the second nearly hit him, this was far from the end of the attack Rhyl was planning to kill this one. After a few more strikes were fought back he seemed to grin a bit "oh oh, a challenge then?" He seemed to be talking aloud to himself as he spoke but quickly launched another barrage of attacks onto Brishen to not allow the elf to get the first strike in. He almost seemed like a different person at this time his eyes were black in color or so it seemed and he had every intention of killing this elf before him. The two seemed to trade blows back and forth for a while even though Brishen was only using one sword, he seemed able to keep up with the double blade assault, mainly because he did have a wrist guard allowing him to take hits if needed. Though Rhyl wasn't gaining any grounds at all on this guy he seemed to be enjoying this. This could be the fight he was seeking this whole time. He decided it was better to taunt the elf to see how his limits were. "Is that the best you can do is defend yourself? Though I guess I shouldn't expect more your king fell so easily when I cornered him!" When he had been sent out on that mission a few mere years ago he was expected to fail, it was almost a shock to his clan he did kill the light elves leader. Though these taunts were to see how far this light elf would push himself, he had completely lost sight of the fact there was a second light elf in the area ... even if it was just the girl. |
( blah, not that good. = n=;; ) For a moment it felt as if she had swallowed her ability to speak. Judith had not seen Brishen for three years now. He had grown up quite a bit it seemed. He was still cruel to her, it seemed that other things had not changed about him. Including his hatred for Dark Elves. "You have clouded your mind with so many negative things about Dark Elves," she spoke to her brother. "You have not changed, brother." she seemed disappointed. What did she expect? He had been fighting Dark Elves for three years. He had probably seen his friends die, of course he would still hate them. "You're still naive," he hissed at her. Brishen took a step forward, his eyes locked on his sister. "You're still a child." Brishen let go of his bow and pouch full of arrows. He drew his sword from his side. His eyes moved from Judith to his enemy. Brishen snarled as the Dark Elf approached him. He was strong, but still struggled with the Dark Elf. He smiled, amused that he finally had a real challenge. "I killed so many of your kind," he purred. "Women as well, I have even killed children." anger filled Brishen's eyes as the Dark Elf spoke about his king. "You're the one who-" he paused, it felt as if he was going to explode. "You bastard!" he turned to look at his sister. "Judith, run! I can handle this on my own, you will only get in the way!" he hissed. Judith's ears sagged, she was a coward. She didn't want to fight, she didn't want to kill. Why was she here? Why did she even train? She was only a disappointment. The elders were wrong to send her to war. They only sent her because of her impressive talent with her bow. She stepped backwards and stumbled. Her body nearly crashed against the ground as she fled. She slammed her side against a tree and clenched her side in pain. She had to get away. |
(aw its fine i like it :D though i did sorta for a few parts take control of your character's brother >.<; sorry)
He still fought each blow from this elf he was rather impressed they had someone to finally match him in battle. "Heh you think I care? We live to die in battle!" He growled out at his comments to try and mock him and his kind, killing children and the females. "You should learn to train your females more before sending them to play war" He hissed towards him, in regards she was almost the first female he had seen on the field of battle this whole time. He grinned wildly though as he took notice of the increased strength that last comment had given the light elf. He was almost blinded by rage at this time. "what did you think the one your guards had slain was the killer of your king? Hardly" He laughed a bit lunging himself forward locking blades with Brishen. Though with both blades locked and trying to over power someone who had all the reasons in the world to kill you on the spot was not going well, and put him at a disadvantage if anymore light elves showed up. From all the yelling going on it was more of a matter of time really, plus being day time hours he knew his time was running short. 'just a little longer... I have to kill this one' He kept thinking to himself though the angles the light cut through the trees made it harder to see then normal as a few caught him directly in the eyes. He managed to keep all of his strength in the blades to make sure the light elf was unable as well to strike. It seemed like mere seconds later a few more light elves showed up, probably due to Brishen's yelling, though they seemed to pause seeing the sight before them till Brishen thought about a better punishment to the king killer then death. Though he didn't voice it just yet as the swords slipped from one another and he missed his chance to block the second blade as it met his side burrowing it's self into his flesh. Brishen growled out from the pain before barking his orders going back to recovering quickly and keeping the dark elf on his toes trying to deliver a strike himself. "code B!" was all Brishen had to bark out as a order before the two that had joined the area nodded. Even with the wound dripping blood Brishen was managing to force the dark elf to walk backwards just to keep up with the strikes. 'damn it...' he breathed out as he thought to himself this was bad, he had wasted too much energy playing cat and mouse with that girl earlier to keep up with a long fight like this. Rhyl took notice of the two other light elves now in the area, though trying to watch three opponents brought back a bit of a memory as his ears went back and he tried to keep up with the foe at hand. Though in the middle of blocking the sword he was quickly taken advantage of as the one to his right side shoved a dagger quickly into his flesh. He seemed to flinch but caught himself a little late as the other one delivered a smack to the back of his head with the bow he had been carrying. He fell almost lifelessly to the ground as falling to his knees. Brishen was breathing heavily before he applied pressure to the wound he had gotten during this fight. Though his gaze looked from the fallen elf to his sister coldly. "Bind him and take him to camp, I'll deal with my sister..." He walked over to her as the other two were doing as they were told. He'd at least strike her once before forcing her back to their main encampment as well. He had plans for this king killer, to make the elf wish he had just died back on that day. |
Judith had not ran too far, she hid behind a tree and watched her brother and the Dark Elf fight. Her hand still clenching her side, she had been blinded by fear so badly that she had knocked in to a few more trees after the first. She felt like an idiot. Her ears perked up as she heard voices, some fellow Light Elves had arrived. She watched as Brishen was wounded, her eyes became consumed with tears. She feared the worse for her brother and for herself. Then the Dark Elf was captured. She could not imagine what they would do to him. He had admitted to being the killer of their king after all. Her brother was bleeding when he began to approach her. Her heart pounded nervously in her chest, he was going to punish her for this. Despite being older than him she feared him. He was taller, built bigger, more stronger and had been trained better. As a child he would hit her and tease her constantly. Judith wondered why she still worried about him and called him her brother. She cried out as he grabbed her wrist and pulled her out from behind the tree. "I'm not going to forget what you did," he hissed and squeezed her wrist. "You shouldn't be playing with Dark Elves, Judith. When you were a child it was understandable. You were a child, you were naive and didn't understand." his other hand went to her face, he turned her face forcing her to look at him. "But now? You're an adult. You have seen what they are like, you have killed them as well." he muttered hopefully under his breath. "It seems that even that can't make you see how your behaviour is unacceptable. They have killed us-" "We have killed them, too!" she spat, she began to cry out of frustration. "Before the war. Before the death of our king. We hunted them like they were animals. We hated them because of what we were told as children. Mother and father taught you to hate!" she was screaming now, she pulled her face away from his grip. "You never allowed yourself to think twice about what you were told. I'm was not naive. You were!" Judith flinched as she felt her brother's hand meet her face. She brought a hand up to her sore cheek, though she didn't feel surprised. He let go of her wrist and grabbed her by her hair. He walked, forcing her to come with him as he held her tightly. "When we get back," he growled. "You will regret what you have done." she began to sob. |
(feel free to beat up on him with your light elves x'D I didn't want to do it all haha)
It was a few hours after they had taken the captive and the girl back to the camp. The elf they had chained to a post, making sure to keep both of his hands away from one another. Dark elves had a uncanny skill of picking locks.. they weren't going to risk a live on in the middle of the camp getting lose. A few posts from where they had the dark elf her brother had ordered that the girl be chained as well, though it was more to keep her from running off again. "You like these damned shadow walkers so much you can watch as we destroy this one." He grinned before walking to the front of where they had Rhyldrin. One of the two that had walked with them back to the camp had a bucket of water before throwing it on the dark elf. The shock of the cold water made him come back to rather quickly as he coughed a little and tried to figure out what the hell had happened. The wound on his side reminded him that he had been careless."ugh... damn it..." he muttered out still being groggy from the smack to the back of his skull. Though all other thoughts aside he quickly knew what was going on here taking in the fact he was bound to a post with his hands behind him and forced to be on his knees. He laughed a little seeing the three standing before him. "really? You wanted to see one of us bow to you so badly you forced it?" He found humor in this position for many reasons. "No one asked you to speak vermin.." Brishen spit out before one of the other two delivered a foot to where the wound was at. Rhyldrin winced from the impact losing his breath in the process as he gasped and coughed a little trying to get it back. "tsk.... " This was a bit of a mess he had gotten into, whats worse he knew better then to expect someone to come after him. His kind left one another behind without a second thought. Though this little scene brought back some memories of when he was a child, what was it. Wait... After he regained himself he laughed a bit again before breathing out his next comment. "Well... fact is a cruel mistress now isn't she... here I was thinking I could repay you for this scar you gave me all those years ago.." Brishen seemed amused by this "oh so king killer and the one who got away, well this is my lucky day." He had known about his sister meeting a dark elf at the edge of the forest but he hardly knew it was the very one he had tried to kill that day. |
Judith had been dragged all the way to the camp. She didn't fight back after her brother threw her to the ground when she tried to get away. It almost felt as if he took pleasure in harming her, the thought of that made her feel light-headed. Brishen did take a lot of pleasure in killing Dark Elves. He loved the feeling he got before he claimed another life. Maybe he loved punishing Elves when they got out of line as well. Judith was silent as she was chained up like a prisoner. At first she tried to break loose, but the pain that she had caused to her wrists became unbearable and she gave up. She wondered if she would be punished or if her brother planned to do worse things. Could he take her own sister's life? It was possible. She raised her head as Brishen spoke to the Dark Elf. Her heart nearly stopped when he mentioned a previous incident with her brother. Was this Dark Elf? No, it couldn't be. Was he Rhyldrin? The Dark Elf that she visited when she was a child? For a moment she felt as if she couldn't breath, then when she finally collected herself she looked up at the Dark Elf. The scar, why had she not realised it sooner? Judith wanted to speak badly, but was afraid that if she did her brother was hurt her. She watched him, would he recognize her? Brishen smiled at the Dark Elf. Then looked over at his sister. His face dropped. Judith was starring at him almost lovingly. "Why are you looking at him like that?" he barked then approached her. When Judith looked at him he brought his hand against her face as hard as he could. She closed her eyes tightly. "I never thought that I could think so little of someone," he hissed and walked back to the Dark Elf, his eyes were still on Judith though. "You're almost as disgusting as them." Brishen looked up at the Dark Elf. "I'll take care of you soon enough, but first," a grin stretched out across his face. "I'll let you starve, I'll make you suffer every day and then I'll kill you. I want to take my time with you, I'm going to enjoy this immensely." Brishen stepped back from the two, he looked over at the guards and told them to watch over the two closely. He had other important business to attend to and needed to get his wound tended to, when that was done he would come back to play with his new toy. |
He had just now noticed that they had the girl chained up as well, what in the world was going on. Sure punish someone for disobeying a order but he recalled that the two were siblings, wait that red hair. Thats impossible, he thought to himself remembering something else that had happened all the years ago. What were the odds?
Though he was brought out of his thought as the one light elf returned saying he'd let him starve then kill him. "Heh... you better hope this wound takes me first..." He was giving Brishen a warning, if he got out of these chains then he'd kill the poor sap for disgracing him the right to die in battle. After he walked away and it was just a few guards watching the two of them he sighed heavily before testing the distance he had with his hands. "damn.. " He said finally before leaning against the post, he had the odd mind to try and break it but he needed to save the energy he had if he wasn't going to get food for at least three days. After the guards stopped watching the two like hawks he spoke up again not looking at her, but it was bothering him by now. "Whats your name?" He asked rather bluntly instead of making a fool of himself and saying a name that may be not hers. He had a good idea and it was on the tip of his tongue but he couldn't remember it back then let alone over ten years after the fact. One of the guards looked at him though quickly turned back around with the gaze he had given the light elf, he had the eyes of a killer they weren't the innocent ones he held as a child. |
Judith watched her brother walk away. She still didn't understand how someone could be so cruel. It bothered her quite a bit that other Light Elves were also like him and Dark Elves as well. What was so wrong with co-existing? A world without war sounded like a better world than this. Judith pressed her fingers against her shackles, wondering if she could even release herself. No, she thought to herself. Even if I could the guards would always be watching over us. They couldn't afford to lose the Dark Elf. They couldn't afford to lose me either. My brother would have their heads for it. Even as the hours passed the guards still stood. The sun was slowly disappearing as night was prepared to take over. Do they ever sleep? She asked herself. Maybe the night guards will be less of a hassle then I could escape. She raised her head as the Dark Elf spoke. How odd that he was asking for her name at a time like this, but she was preparing herself to do the same. The thought of the Dark Elf being Rhyldrin was bothering her. She was just too scared to ask while the guards were there. She waited a bit, hesitating to answer him. When the guards began to speak to each other she took advantage of it. "Judith," she whispered to him. Her snow white eyes examined his face. Maybe she was just being a fool and it wasn't Rhyldrin. |
He seemed to think on her answer for a moment before smirking and speaking once more "whats what it was... damn I always had a hell of a time remembering that for some reason." He laughed slightly, this was more then funny to him, the odds of running into the girl that he had long forgotten about as a child let alone she seemed to still hold true to her words of not wanting to kill.
The guards seemed to be edgy probably waiting on a shift change, he'd have to remember this time so if he managed to get a chance to get out of this he could wait for the perfect time. "You asked before didn't you, my name I mean. It's Rhyldrin, but I have a feeling you knew" She probably had been questioning it a little from the first question she had asked him about the scar. One guard had brought the girl some water and forced her to drink it. "Your brother wants you to stay alive, and says if you behave he might release you in the next few days." The guard seemed to smile a bit before walking off as two more replaced the last ones. During this switch would be the best time to escape, and with it being nearly dark around them it would add to his advantage. Though the ideas of getting out of this seemed far off with how he was bound and the fact the wound wasn't closing, it was too deep to close he'd be lucky if the blade hadn't hit anything vital. Though in spit of what he told himself about saving energy he tested his strength against the chains finding that the wound was hindering him more then he wanted to admit as he stopped moments later. Sure he wanted to talk more to the strange girl, but his life was on the line here. He couldn't believe he had let himself get captured like this. |
"I didn't really think that it was you at first," she whispered to him. She paused as one of the guards looked up at them. She resumed speaking when he finally looked away. "When I saw your scar, I remembered knowing a Dark Elf when I was little. I remembered sneaking out of my home to see him. I remembered that he had a similar scar from an incident with Light Elves. I didn't ask for your name due to the circumstances, it didn't seem like you wanted to talk to me anyways." she chuckled softly. "I remember when things got worse between the Dark and Light elves. My parents refused to let me leave our home. I wondered if you thought that I didn't care anymore. I felt really bad." she chewed on her lower lip nervously. Perhaps she was speaking too much, the guards would probably tell her brother. When a guard approached her with water she turned away. Judith refused the water at first, but as the guard forced her to drink it she really didn't have a choice anymore. She nearly coughed up a lung. Her eyes examined the new guards, she didn't recognize these ones. Perhaps they were new recruits. She hoped that they were, if she tried to escape it would make things much more easier. "My shackles are a bit rusted," she whispered to him. "I may be able to break them, but I'm very tired and weak. I don't know if I really can, I'll try." Judith fell silent for a few moments. "Later, when it's darker." she wondered if Rhyldrin had even heard everything that she said. She was being so quiet. |
"heh... seems fate wanted us to cross paths again even if it's with our last meeting" He wasn't being serious he hardly planned to die here. "truth be told, I didn't want to talk when I attacked you that one day... " He let the sentence die as a guard looked at him 'tsk unchain me and see what happens... ' he thought to himself as the guard turned back around and towards the conversation at hand. "I wanted nothing better then to watch as your blood seeped from your neck" He felt almost wrong telling her this really, he was talking about killing her when he first laid on on her weeks ago and in truth he had planned to do just that, maybe torture her a bit before hand even.
He shook his head a little "I never though ill of you, I noticed you stopped coming around the time they picked up the guards around the outer city.. I figured they were keeping tabs on all of their citizens by that time." Plus around that time his training had picked up so he had only managed to visit the spot every other week if that, though he had stopped after a few visits with no one there. He had heard what she said about her binds being rusted but he decided to give her his thoughts on it. "why bother, they are going to release you in a few days time. You'll end up being branded a traitor and killed if you break free now." He was right or that's how it'd work on his side, he figured they were probably similar in that at least. As it grew darker one of the guards walked up to the two of them to check the chains, though when the second one walked he got a bit too close to Rhyl and he let him know it as he moved quickly shooting a leg out and directly into the back of the knee of the guard that had walked too close, the man quickly found himself upon the ground with the sudden loss of balance. The other one hearing this commotion quickly brought a blade to Rhyl's neck, though Rhyldrin hardly seemed to care as he smirked all the more. "You'd get a promotion for this wouldn't, killing a bound enemy?" He taunted the guard ignoring the blade that could easily have been the end of him, though the guard saw what he was doing and reluctantly drew the sword back. "your lucky we have orders to make you stay alive as long as possible..." With that the guards walked back off one muttering to the other his complaints. |
Judith looked away from him. All he wanted to do that day was kill her, but if that's all he wanted then why did he not kill her then? "I understand," she said to him, her voice still low. "I had shot an arrow at you only moment before you caught me, I had intended to kill you as well. Even if I didn't really want to, even after three years in this war," she paused for a moment, her head hurt. "I can't enjoy killing another, even if all they ever want to do is harm me." she looked up at him smiling. "I'm not like that and never will be." She nodded, he was right. If she broke free and freed him as well every Light Elf would turn against her. Instead of fighting one enemy she would be fighting two. The thought of that made her nervous. Even her family would turn against her, she would have no home. "I'll stay here then," she whispered. "I can't risk that, you're right." "You're brave, but I think that you always have been." Judith looked up at him and couldn't help but smile. "And you have always had that attitude. Even when we became closer you were still a little mean to me." her eyes fell on the one of the guards in front of them, he were starring at her, but when her eyes met his he turned away quickly. "I tried to get out of my home to go to the forest one night, but my parents caught me. After that they told guards to be weary of me. I couldn't afford to get in trouble again." her bright eyes looked over Rhyldrin. "Your skin is still beautiful" she purred. |
He seemed to listen to her as she spoke. "I know you intended to kill me, no one makes a shot like that without the intent to kill.." Really if he hadn't of caught the arrow he wouldn't still be here it would have been the ending shot for sure. He laughed slightly as she went on "I know... you were like that when we were kids. I didn't expect you to change that much" Really he was glad she didn't change to have a taste to kill, he had enjoyed her company all the years ago. She didn't need to change.
He was glad she took his advice, he couldn't keep her safe if she turned her back on her own kind for the sake of getting them both out of it. Besides he always managed somehow to end up on top of things even if they looked this bad. "Heh good choice..tsk.." He winced a bit the wound reminding him it was there. "huh?" He questioned what she was saying out of no where saying he was brave, though he caught what she was saying after a moment as he smirked a little "brave maybe... stupid defiantly." He probably wasn't making the best moves to try and piss the guards off, though maybe if he got one that was dumb enough to fight him it'd be his chance. "Was i? Heh... I never noticed, I thought I was pretty damn nice to you considering." Really with how he had been raised he wasn't lying to her. He continued to listen to her catching the odd actions from the guards. 'damn.. this isn't looking good.' He kept his thought to himself knowing he didn't need to worry her, they'd probably release her tomorrow or the day after. "I figured something like that had happened... I had my own duties to attend to when the guards were being increased at your city." He left out the details that he was being trained during half the time they had spent together to kill her kind. He was about to say something else when her comment caught him off guard causing almost the same reaction as before feeling his face flush a little. "heh... you really are the same aren't you.. " he said under his breath a little. Though something caught his attention as a guard seemed dart off leaving only the one to watch both of them. "hrm... " He seemed to have a idea seeing what work they had done for the chains on his hands. After a moment he got a idea as he forced his back against the post and seemed to force his shoulders out of joint. In the process he had managed to get to his feet and worked his hands over the top of the post, he lucked out it wasn't taller then he was. "tsk... ow..." He hissed out after getting his hands to the front of him and managed to get some of the chain to loosen around his wrists. Sure he still had the binds on but it didn't matter, the guard seemed to take notice of this with the sudden popping sound as he used the post to get his shoulders back to being right. Keeping both hands together he quickly charged the guard and delivered both fists to his stomach causing the guard to be winded and fall over to the ground. His breathing was a bit unsteady and the wound seemed to worsen with the sudden movement as he stood there a moment getting his bounds of the area. "Something much be going on near here, the camps empty.. " He looked back towards Judith before walking over to her and kneeling for a second to grab her face as he kissed her cheek lightly. "till we meet again hrm?" He gave her a bit of a flirty wink before standing again and darting off, he could get this bindings off elsewhere and with whatever was distracting the camp he wasn't going to let his chance pass by. She did have the brave part right, though he could have done more if he had wanted to with her being bound and all. |
"If I had know that it was you then I would not have aimed to kill you." she said, she ran her fingers along her shackles. Her arms hurt from being held up for so long, her wrists were still sore from earlier. "I'm not as easily influenced by what others say," she paused for a moment worrying if what she was about to say would offend him. "Even if I'm here to kill Dark Elves, I tried very hard to avoid them. Sometimes," her voice cracked. "I had no choice." Judith watched as he freed himself. "You're insane," she whispered to him. "Be careful and please tend to your wound." When he approached her she first thought that he was going to free her as well. When his face became very close to hers she flinched. Judith's heart fluttered in her chest when his lips touched her cheek. She had never expected such a thing from Rhyldrin. Her face felt hot and she knew that she was blushing. Her eyes wandered from his face and over to the camp. "You're right, it's rather quiet. I'll manage to get out myself, I can't go with you." she pulled on her shackles loosening them. "I'll remain here, they can't accuse me of being a traitor if I go to help them." When he was out of sight she pulled on her shackles once more, harder this time. Judith fell from her prison against the ground hard. She massaged her wrists for a few moments then finally stood. She walked around the guard that was laying on the ground in pain. She stopped for a moment and breathed in sharply. She smelled smoke. Then she saw flames. The camp was on fire. Judith turned and looked around helplessly, she didn't know where Rhyldrin had ran off to and he probably didn't want her to follow him. When she turned back to the camp she saw dark figures. Dark Elves. She turned and fled aimlessly in to the night. She couldn't see and had no idea of where she was, all she knew was that she had to get out of here. |
