blood ties(m)

this thread will be rated 'm' for possible blood gore adult situations abuse, torture and the whole nine yards because i'm not coming back to edit this post if any of that junk happens >>

all children are born in pairs, either by blood or circumstance, nothing in life is more sacred than the bond you have with your other half, no mate, no child, no parent, nothing comes between you, you are talios, a whole. to lose your other is to die yourself.

littl3chocobo 09-28-2011 01:19 PM

he notched his bow and let loose another arrow, the shaft bounced harmlessly off the wyvern's neck. the beast kicked hard with it's scaled chicken-legs cutting him on the arm, the gash was not so deep so he ignored it, he countered with another arrow, he needed to back up a bit, from such a close range he was at a disadvantage. he let out a shart short whistle signaling to his talios that he was going to get farther back, he hoped the other would be able to fight by himself for a few moments while he got far enough away to strike a killing blow.

Rosekitten 09-28-2011 06:41 PM

Hearing the whistle he knew that he'd have to fend for himself, that was more then fine by him. He had found it foolish for the other to be at such a close range to the battle anyway. If only he knew what was to come after this grand fight he wouldn't be as care free as he was now. Either way he readied his weapon and charged forward making a point to avoid being scratched or bitten, he couldn't afford for a beast of this size to land such a blow, it might cost him more then he could afford to lose.

littl3chocobo 09-28-2011 07:07 PM

he breathed a sigh of relief, his other had successfully distracted the beast. he slung his bow over his shoulder and hurried up the nearest tree. he crawled out on a branch and pulled his bow out. notching an arrow he took his sights.

THUNK.

the beast screamed as the arrow lodged crookedly into it's eye, the depth in which the arrow had sunk along with the manic spasms of the creature told him what he needed to know, it was a killing blow. he reslung his bow and threw himself to the ground his boots soaking up most of the impact. he straightened and ran to his talios "are you alright?" he ignored the dying creature next to the other

Rosekitten 09-28-2011 11:38 PM

He breathed out as he took a few steps back as the creature thrashed and flailed about in it's final breaths. Lowering his weapon he wiped his forehead a little before laughing slightly. "cutting it a little close there.. this one was nasty" He wasn't sure how much longer he was going to be able to avoid getting hit from the thing, not only that but early in the fight he had been slammed up against a tree before he had any time to react.

"I'm good though, what about you. You should know better then to get that close." He sighed shaking his head, though it was part his fault he wasn't keeping the beast distracted enough to ensure the safety of the other. Though he quickly noticed the blood on his arm as he frowned before pointing it out.

"Well lets get going and report that the beast is dead, and get that looked at or wrapped at least. You call me reckless and your the archer that tries to blood melee." He smirked a little though he had a point, little did he know of the wound, the beast they defeated wasn't native to this part of the land so it wasn't common knowledge of what it could do or what you should and shouldn't do when fighting one. Heck he though they got lucky getting only one scratch.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 08:39 AM

he laughed. "what can i say, i missed my calling as a martial fighter, but i am alright" he looked at the wyvern. are we only taking the head or is the rest of it salvageable? dragon hide is worth it's weight in silver, this thing is not so far off. i would not mind making a little extra for the effort." he rubbed at the bleeding arm and offered it to the other, 'at least stop the bleeding, it's ruining my leathers' he waggled his arm a bit.

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 12:49 PM

He shook his head again at the lame joke by the other. "I'd say... " Though he figrued he was going to be ok, it didn't look all that bad anyway. Though the next question made him onder a bit. "We could salvage a bit of it, the scales can be used for trade." Really the scales were probably the only thing worth taking back or wasting the time on, aside from maybe the fangs.

"well do that then for a bonus" He smirked a bit, it was more then annoying to scale a dragon but well worth in from the pay off in the long run, and the one they got the contract from never mentioned wanting the remains aside from the head of the beast to prove it was dead.

"your leathers will be fine" He said be absentmindedly grabbed his arm anyway and placed a hand a few inches above where the wound was as a soft green light flowed from his palm and into the wound, it seemed to work as far as healing the gash went and it closed up nicely as well leaving a small minor scar that would fade in due time. "there happy now? If so time to get to work then" He was referring to the fact they had to skin this beast before leaving.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 02:30 PM

he nodded at the words and grinned at the question. flexing his fingers to settle the familiar healing magic, he reached into his thigh holster for the hidden blade within. pulling it free he began helping the other skin the beast, it was long hard work for the joints were strange and the animal heavy but as he worked he thought of what they could do with the coin if it was worth even half of what a dragon-skin sold for. he felt pleased with himself.

an hour found them with a fresh skin and a head, both were washed in a nearby stream as were the arms that did the labors. they contemplated digging a whole to bury the wyvern in but in the end decided against it, even more work in that. so they left the carcass for the scavengers and headed back to the town they were camped in

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 05:02 PM

He sighed heavily as they started the walk back before voicing his complaint. "damn that took took long, why do dragons have to be such a pain to skin.." He grumbled a bit more under his breath but kept most of it to himself more then telling the other. Rest after turning the head over to the one they accepted the mission from would be a well needed one.

Though the other thought was finding a buyer for the scaling, and if they couldn't in this town they'd have to drag it along with them. It was half tempting to think about investing into horses or some other beast of burden, but that would be more of a nuance then it was probably worth and normally the two of them didn't carry back anything from the kills unless it was of value.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 05:21 PM

'ha, no more a dragon than a fish and it was easier to skin than either.' he smiled, he knew there was more to the other's bitching than what he said aloud but did not press, he had the same thoughts on the matter. he turned his thoughts instead back to the wyvern skin he was carrying and the head his talios held, the head was a set payment, it was simply a matter of taking it to the client and getting paid but the skin was iffy at best, his beastiary had little information on the animal and none on the uses of it's parts. for all he knew it could be worth nothing then they'd be stuck toting it around, he certainly did not have the enthusiasm for that though and he knew his other would not be pleased with the prospect either. he shifted the skin and scratched absentmindedly at his arm. it itched though the magic should have been finished by now. he sighed, as was life

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 06:13 PM

It was a good few hours before they got to the town once more. The sun was slowly starting to set in the distance. To admit it his arms were dead tired. "Well time to get rid of this damn thing" He said with a slight motion towards the head of the beast he was still having to lug around, happily he would get rid of it. With that being said he started to walk off leaving his partner in crime free to return to the room they had been keeping in the town or to do whatever really.

(sorry for the lame post! my brains tired)

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 06:21 PM

(no worries, that you posted at all pleases me...though, what the hell is your name again, i can't remember)
he nodded. shifting the skin again he headed back to their room, when he got there he threw it on the floor and crouched down, he cut of a small slice of the skin and pocketed it, he was going to find a seller.

he smiled to himself as he rounded the corner, it was not worth gold but five silvers was a fetching price for the skin, it was covered their two in the inn and half as much as they were being paid for this job already, this endevor was turning out swell, it was all profit for a change, he was pleased with himself

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 07:11 PM

He made quick work to get rid of the head he had been carrying, one he was a wood elf in a mostly human town, two it wasn't something you saw everyday was someone carrying a beasts head.. he disliked drawing attention to himself. Thalion normally kept to himself aside from talking with his partner in his travels. Most of the time if he could avoid staying in a town he would do just that.

The price was what was promised and a slight bonus for the quick work that they had done. Though there was still no word on how or why such a beast was out here. It wasn't known to be of this area. He shrugged that off easily as he walked out of the office and down the roadway, he figured he'd have a few hours to kill before he was probably expected back to the room anyway.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 07:58 PM

he figured thalion would visit the armory/forge as soon as he was paid so he waited around looking at knives and horse-shoes waiting to tell the other his good news. he was sure he was scaring off the poor smithy's customers with his grin but that was ok too, at this rate he could get a new weapon, his talios too. he scratched at his arm again

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 08:05 PM

He had him figured out that was certain, he always had a fascination in metal works. Though it wasn't that odd, from where he came from it was unheard of to use most metal weapons, so it was probably more then a odd sight to see a half armored wood elf with a pole arm. Though for the time being he wasn't bothering the smiths too much.

The thoughts were that they could get new weapons or at least repairs... he'd run it by first before he just went ahead with it, besides the bow with with the other. Though the longer he lurked around the more odd looks he was getting, for someone who disliked standing out he did a damn fine job of it without meaning to.

After he grew bored with what was on stock at the first place he had entered he went about to find a different shop, it seemed there were at least two army shops in this town, whatever worked he guessed. Though in the second shop he found his partner looking at a few blades. "Well?" he said walking up behind him and standing there catching the odd looks once again. He let out a sort of stressed sigh as he waited for his answer, humans were annoying.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 08:13 PM

"well what? i want a new knife, something that shines" he held up his purse "it was worth five silver, the ten we got for killing it is all profit" he looked at the other mans grinning face. "oh? more good news?" the other pulled out a gold coin. it glittered. "ah, a bonus!" he glanced at the far end of of the shop. "you know..." he began. i saw something earlier you might like to see as well" he headed for the back section expecting the other to follow

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 08:25 PM

"Well get one, why tell me if we made extra?" He laughed slightly, it's not like they were ever that tight on money. Between the two of them they could get contracts easily enough. Not only that but they also watched the amount they kept as well.. making sure there was enough in case there was a dry spell in work. Though the mention of something that he might like to see as well made him shake his head a little. He highly doubted this thing he needed to see would perk his attention enough to really bother.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 08:33 PM

he just smiled an les the other to a small stand in the back, he saw it the first time they had come in but did not mention it, he came again by himself before they went to slay the beast and told himself that if there was any profit in the animal he'd buy it. it was simply constructed from two parts, the blade and the head to attach it to the staff-wood, it was unpolished iron, certainly not new but along the dull edge was a fine scrollwork of swirls and runes, it would be beautiful cleaned. he plucked it from the rest and handed it to thalion.

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 10:16 PM

He started to ask Zosa what he was thinking when he handed him the weapon. Though it did look like it had a bit of wear and tear on it.. oddly it seemed sturdy enough. Though Thalion was hardly the type to just make up his mind on the spot, to put it in odd terms he had to feel like he could entrust his life to whatever weapon he wielded.

Either way he seemed to look over the blade and the weapon as a whole before shooting Zosa a glare. There was nothing wrong with his current weapon, though this was a nicely crafted pole arm on it's own as well. Though he doubted that this shop was it's crafter it seemed a little out of place with the markings compared to the rest.

He handed the weapon back towards Zosa before he started to walk off. "come on, just because we have it dosen't mean we have to use it" He complained a little, though he was a bit anti spending at times.. most of the times. "hurry up and pick out whatever you were looking for so we can get out of here" Openly displaying his dislike for humans.. he hated them with a passion.

littl3chocobo 09-29-2011 10:32 PM

he puffed out a sigh, the other did not even take the time to read the name along the spine of it. he marched right to the smithy and went about negotiating the price. though it was selling for four silver he was sure he could get it down to three.

after his haggle with the human he left the shop weapon-in-hand and went to their room. he was a little miffed that the other did not like his present but he also knew that if not for a lucky guess they would not have gotten any extra at all. when he had thrown the gift on his other's bed he flopped down on his own and did his least favorite pastime. counting funds. there were four his personal, thalion's personal, food and repair funds and savings

he counted out the food first, one gold four silver nine coppers and a lone iron next he went through savings, nineteen gold and eight silver, he added the five silver from the hide to this, finally he went through his own personal funds with his newest shopping excursion he was down to one silver and eleven coppers, it was a paltry sum but it was worth it to get such a unique polearm. he scratched at his arm again. this he thought was too dull a job, especially since his talios would re-count it twice come morning as he always did. zosa yawned. he felt tired all of a sudden and figured it was good an acuse as any to take a nap. he took all the money and replaced them into their respective boxes and bags and then went to bed.

Rosekitten 09-29-2011 10:48 PM

He never gave Zosa time to explain the weapon further, really it was because of the name on it that made him wish to avoid it even more. He wasn't too into tales or fate or anything of the sort but he wasn't about to test that luck either. He left the shop long before Zosa had gotten to the counter to try and lower the price of the weapon.

He didn't go back to the inn right away, no point to, he figured Zosa would go there when he was finished with whatever and then he'd go about the daily routine of counting as he always did. It took him a few hours before he finally did bother walking back to the inn.

Upon entering the room his ears dropped seeing the weapon on the bed. 'bastard..' he thought in his mind. He had a feeling that Zosa was dead set on buying the thing but did he really have to. Seeing as the other seemed to already be asleep he sighed lightly and moved the weapon so he could do the same. He'd have his choice words with him in the morning.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 09:22 AM

his dreams were warped and strange, leave and rivers ran red and gold, stars fell from the sky. wings, everwhere wings. he woke up.

the dawn was rising, he had slept through the evening and the night, and yet he awoke un-rested. his dreams were wrong somehow though the milky egg of the sun dispelled it quickly, all he could remember were wingss. he did not dwell on it, if his dreams came back then so be it, if not so be that as well, he dragged himself lazily out of bed. he ran his hands through his hair until the worst of the snarls were out then went downstairs to get their breakfasts.

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 01:00 PM

Sure he knew Zosa was up, he always was up long before he was. But either way he never bothered moving, there was no point to they had no contract waiting and no real direction towards the next town. Aside from that the funds were well enough off, then again between the two of them they tried to keep it that way.

A little while after Zosa had left the room Thalion did however move and sit up before moving once more to sit on the edge of the bed. He didn't seem to have anything going his mind at the moment though when his eyes wondered about the room he remembered the weapon that Zosa seemed determined to give to him. That quickly reminded him that he'd have to tell him to stop buying useless things, or something along the lines.

Really he had noticed the name on the weapon, thats half the reason he really wanted to avoid it.. it wasn't like his name was common that was damn sure, let alone in a human based town. Either way his current weapon was good enough and still in proper condition to use in battle so what was the point of getting rid of it.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 06:22 PM

he navigated the stairs with bowels of porridge and honey on the comb, the cook was just out of bed herself when he descended so nothing else was yet ready and he did not feel compelled to wait. he pushed open the door and found thalion staring angrily at the poleaxe. if it were anyone else he would have been sure to have remove the object from harms' way but as it was his talios he knew the other was simply trying to come to terms with it, he rolled his eyes and passed part of the food over, when it was out of his hands he took a moment to scratch his arm. he then sat next to the other on the bed. "are we staying or going?" he asked spooning around the honey for some porridge

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 06:42 PM

"we're leaving, and your taking that thing back" he said almost in the same breath. What was it about that weapon, he didn't trust it something was .. wrong about it. Or at least not normal, though he knew very well that Zosa wasn't taking it back either.

"unless you have further business here, I had planned to leave.." he trailed off a little noticing that he was scratching at his arm. "do you have fleas or something? You raked away at your arm half of the night.." Sure he knew it was where he was hit by the creature the other day, but .. it healed right? it shouldn't be itching.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 06:51 PM

"egh, it just itches a bit, did i really?" he flipped his hair to the side and pulled his glove down, turning his arm a bit to see he craned his neck and stared at his arm, it looked a little bruised and it had red scratches in it from his rubbing but it seemed normal. he twisted around for the other to see "there is nothing wrong with it, looks just fine. maybe i brushed some ivy" he fixed himself then picked his bowel back up from his lap. "it is getting later in the year, we could head north, it is almost time for lord dragon to hold his annual pilgrimage to the mountain" he smiled, though the trek was dangerous the splender of the royal house or the dragon king winding up the mountain-side in all their glory was a site he'd give much to be part of again this year. "they pay well"

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 06:58 PM

He looked over the arm though he wasn't happy with it, his healing should have covered any ivy.. he'd let it go for now. "Maybe.. but you did.. cause it kept me up half the night" he hissed out a little though he didn't mean it in really a mean way but it was the truth.

Though he noticed that Zosa ignore the other comment. "that they do... we can go but on one condition. You take it back!" He said a little more forceful this time, he didn't want the weapon let alone one with his name on it. Though in truth he'd go even if Zosa didn't remove the weapon from their belongings.. it was too good of a job to pass up that was certain.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 07:35 PM

he huffed, stupid boy. grimancing he replied "fine, lets revise, i won't make you use it but you won't make me return it....deal?" he knew the offer would be accepted though how much negotiating it would take to get to that point was anyone's guess. he waited for the childish retort he knew was coming

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 07:52 PM

He seemed to think about it for a second before agreeing to the terms. "waste of space and energy carrying it but whatever you want. He had a few other complaints under his breath before he bothered to speak up again. "why are you dead set on keeping it anyway?" He had to finally ask the question, there had to be a reason.. aside from the odds of having a name on it.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 07:59 PM

he paused at the question, he did not actually know why but it seemed important to have it, as if fate had personally intervened. he said nothing of the sort about it for though the other knew what he was thinking most of the time that worked both ways and he knew it was unappreciated, he blind faith. instead he gave a light shrug "i don't know, i just am" he started to scratch at his arm but stopped and changed direction. "though now that you have brought it up my arm is bothering me still, maybe you have lost your touch" he smiled blithly

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 08:04 PM

He was about to say something more about the weapon and how it was pointless to carry it around, though he did have it right Thalion cared little of fate or the gods.. he more or less believed in walking his own path. But between the two they normally made out of most situations perfectly fine. The next comment from Zosa's mouth made him glare at the words. "I have not! tsk, whatever you got into I can't fix apparently.. that doesn't mean I lost my touch!" He snapped a little before standing and grabbing some of their belongings as he walked towards the door. "well though we were leaving" he seemed to be back to his normal mood at least now. "by the way you like the blade so much you can carry it" he smirked a bit, maybe it'd make him change his mind on keeping it.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 08:14 PM

he smiled lightly at his other's words. he would carry it of course. he couldn't help though but to make one more remark before the other made it free of the conversation "though you know, it is a sad state that i will wander through the rest of my life with a never-ending itch because you are incompetent" his smile turned into a laugh. he knew he was bad but he enjoyed it so

Rosekitten 09-30-2011 08:18 PM

His ears fell back a little with the word incompetent. "just walk already, damn. If you want I can fix it though that requires me slitting your arm open and trying again" He glared at Zosa and it was with a look saying he wouldn't think twice about doing just that. Though a moment later he walked out of the room and started down the stairs before waiting for Zosa to catch up, it was on his mind that it should have healed.. no itching.

littl3chocobo 09-30-2011 08:22 PM

as the other left he gave a little shudder, he remembered very well when they were small and thalion would practice his healing in him, he was prolly more damaged by a child's attempt at novice healing than by anything else to get a hold of him before puberty. he grabbed the mostly uneaten food and his pack and hurried behind the other, it would not do to straggle behind especially given that his other was notoriously bad at directions

Rosekitten 10-01-2011 12:56 AM

He waited on the ground floor for Zosa to catch up before walking out. "so we have our plan.. now to make it happen and not have to work for a good few months heh" He made it sound like such a easy job, though it hardly was so. With that both of them started walking, though he did mostly just follow Zosa.. he wouldn't admit to his bad directional instincts... but he wouldn't take up the role of leading either. They had tried that once, they ended up in a swamp somewhere in the other direction from where they were headed at first.

littl3chocobo 10-01-2011 12:59 PM

'it is practiclly a free meal' he agreed not mentioning the fractured wrist he obtained three years before or the concussion his brother had last year. it was a dangerous job but the best paying out there on the commison fron the dragon king they could ride out the three worst months of the year, it was well worth it. saying nothing else he left the bowls with a servant and paid the inn-keep. shifting his bags again he left his other in tow, this would be a lucky season, he could feel it.

Rosekitten 10-01-2011 01:02 PM

"we'll go for no mishaps this year heh..." He remembered all too well the few mess ups they had during previous years, well minus the more recent year when he was out of it at least. Even with the risks it was well worth the trouble, there were slow months and if they didn't get this job then it would be a little tight, but they'd still manage at the least.

"so how long will it take to get there, aren't we cutting our travel time a bit close?" He swore they were headed in the direction they needed to be the other year long before now.

littl3chocobo 10-01-2011 01:13 PM

"a little early actually but the season is early too, it'll take no more than a week if we travel fast." he looked to the setting sun, "as long as we chase the sun we will get there before it sets" he smiled at the old adage, only a dragon could out-run the very sun but it was a helpful guide all the same.

Rosekitten 10-01-2011 01:18 PM

"early... " he seemed to repeat the word, that was odd he swore they were late.. maybe the other year he had done more damage then he thought. "Tsk with you leading I doubt we have to worry about travel time, i'd hate to see what would happen if you got a horse" he laughed slightly, he figured he'd push the poor beast till it was ready to fall over.

Either way that was still a hell of a walk, and a even worse one to come back that. They were almost like regulars as far as assisting the dragon king each year.

(im sorry for my lame posts! my heads killing me for some reason)

littl3chocobo 10-01-2011 01:35 PM

(no worries, you can always lay down if you'd like)

he set off to the west, the sun to their backs still in it's morning rise. he turned his head and smiled at his other then took off at a run, it was a beautiful day to be alive
