Extreme Couponing
There's this show on TLC about obsessed people who will dig through the trash and the like to get coupons.
Coupons are good, but that's a little crazy...especially if you'll only buy an item if you have a coupon for it -.- One thing really annoys me about this show-this one woman says buying the smallest is the cheapest/greatest value. Not necessarily. Bigger boxes are cheaper per ounce usually unless the smaller is on sale. Check that shit before you buy it. A 6 pound bag may be a lot cheaper per ounce than a three pound bag (or two three pound bags). This only counts if you can't get the three pound bag free. |
wow they have a show about that i should see if i can find it lol
|
It's on TLC. I'm watching it right now. This woman refuses to buy something if she does not have a coupon for it.
If you find anyone like this who can use them to get shit for free....tell them I need some detergent. |
omg I just watched 3 episodes it's crazy how much those people save!
I did that once on a very small scale. I got 5 deodorants for free actually I got a few dollars off my purchase but I think the only store around where I live does that and that's walmart. Canada isn't like the states |
There's no places that double coupons around here. I wish they were. But a lot of coupons? Wal-Mart is the only one who carries a lot of the items D:
I wish I could get stuff like that for free...then I wouldn't have to worry about whether mother will buy groceries or not anymore. |
I saw bits and pieces of it and it's crazy, that shows changed the way some department stores can apply coupons (like Target stopped using the buy 1 get one free)
|
a lady got arrested a few weeks ago for coupon stealing, stores have begun refusing /all/ doubled coupons and the couponers have been getting worse since that show started
|
The thing that this show doesn't show it how much people spend on electricity while they have 5-6 computers on (which a few of the people on the show do) and also the price of all the ink and paper from printing off the ones they get off the internet. Though they do mention the price they spend on news papers.
The other thing is the stores around where I live don't have stare discount cards. That is a lot of the the savings on the show. |
@Echo
That's wrong....especially for those who aren't coupon crazy and just need two of the item and have a coupon @littl3chocobo I was talking about where certain stores double the coupon value up to a dollar. And how do you steal coupons? If they threw it away....it's free game by law. @Feythful Because seeing how much they save....that is a hell of alot more than the price of paper, ink, or that electricity. -just saying- None of the stores around here have those loyalty cards or anything. |
I know it is a lot more but still. Plus I bet those people don't even eat all that stuff. I like the ones where they donate to charity.
Plus most of the food they get is so unhealthy! the one lady mentioned something about buying her kid's healthy cereal right after a shot of boxes and boxes of captain crunch and cocoa puffs. I was thought in what universe do they consider those healthy cereals. but yeah I am still amazed at the savings. the last episode I watched the guy payed nothing for what was hundreds of dollars of food. not even a penny actually though owed him 3 cents Dx. Though they don't give out money. And the stores don't care cuz the manufactures give them the amount for the coupons. |
Well, nowadays cereal manufacturers are making their cereals healthier-fortified with vitamins and minerals. And if you can find a kid that'll eat mini-wheats...congratulations. Those things taste like card board.
Some places do give cash back/gift cards for their store for the amount. I'd love to be able to do that. That gift card money? That's meat money right there. I wish stores around here did the overages thing...I don't think Wal-Mart does .-. |
I rarely use coupons like that, as a lot of them tend to be for processed foods and my body can't handle that very well.
Food is a lot less expensive in Europe, so there's a lot less coupons. I think it's extremely weird to me that there's even a show about that. |
I wish I could use coupons like that. Then I would be able to have some food that isn't canned or frozen like a tv dinner or corndogs.
It's not weird. People will watch anything, but if they'd focus more on how to find the coupons and what stores double coupons values...the show would be a lot more useful to people. |
I know people will watch anything. It's just weird to me.
Actually, the majority of things that there are shows about are weird to me. So it's probably just me. What actually goes on in the show, do they find people that just do extreme coupon purchases and film them shopping? |
I love Kitchen Nightmares >> <<
Pretty much that is what they do. With some background on why they do it (like one-the husband just got accepted into an awesome engineer program but there is no money for daycare so the mother can't work cause she needs to stay home to watch them-they live off of student loans) |
Do you know how they find these people?
(Maybe I should get a TV so I can start watching this stuff.) |
At the end of each show it says if you are an extreme couponer....go to this website!
YES! Get a TV! Watch this! It isn't as idiotic as most of the shit on MTV |
Lol. I should get my neighbor to apply. She refuses to go to the store if she doesn't have at least twenty coupons. In her defense, she's not rich or anything, so I can understand her point of view.
Not having a TV is normal to me, though it makes catching my DW and nature documentaries hard. What else goes on on MTV, lol? |
Do it! I can't get my mother to use coupons sometimes .-. I printed some and she refused to use them and they were for FOOD! FOOD I SAY!
TV is the norm here. Everyone has one and almost everyone has cable/sattelite. Sometimes....there are MUSIC VIDEOS! -shock- |
Food. Food is good. :D
I watch music videos all the time online. I wish iTunes and other media shops had coupons. THAT would be bloody useful. |
I wish iTunes didn't charge TAX
|
i say nix on tv, if you are desperate but online tv haha
this lady'd go up to homes and places for sale and steal the coupons and nab them from in front of buildings and junk |
Not everything is online. Or legal online.
|
tch, you may be right but i personally will still not buy a tv
|
So....I guess no DVDs at your house lol
Or video games either. |
like 6 and one was bought in the last year
and on my comp hahaha |
Not everything is for the PC though D:
|
LOLWAT MUSIC ON MTV!!! ASDFASDFASDF!
And... itunes charges tax now!? WTF? /jumps out the window |
They've always charged tax. They always take Tennessee tax from my balance when I get their music.
And guess what's on tv right now? |
dude i have not watched mtv since it was nothing /but/ music vids
the tellatubies? |
/so ignorant to the workings of Apple
/i'm so serious I have a flippin' Mac and I hate it /music videos!? |
damn i feel old now^^:
|
I miss when mtv played music and OH GOD I FEEL LIKE I COULD BREATHE FIRE RIGHT NOW!
|
Do it. DO IT. Breathe fire! And film it. And send me the film so I can post it on youtube and exploit you for popularity.
I never was a big TV person, except for football of course (soccer to most of you) so when MTV played actual music videos I didn't see em. I may be too young for that, though. I looked up this extreme couponing show. Maybe I will have to harass my neighbor for use of her TV like I did with the DW finale. |
Well if you start couponing like that....SEND ME SOME FREE STUFF!
|
yeah send me free stuff too lol it's not even possible to coupon like that around here.
|
/collects ALL the coupons
Ok now I need your addresses. |
LOL
I wish I could coupon like on the show, but no doubling up to a dollar or loyalty cards here T-T |
I have a loyalty card to the local grocery store, it saves me money on gas at certain service stations as well. Score. SCORE.
Unfortunately, the coupons I'm finding are for a load of processed rubbish, though I'm finding good household item coupons. |
All I eat is processed stuff. It's cheap, easy to find, easy to cook, and about the only thing my mother will buy .-.
