PS3 vs Xbox360
I finally saved up enough money to buy one of these awesome consoles, however I'm having trouble deciding whether to get the ps3 or the xbox360. So which is a better console for me to get?
|
PS3 allllll the way, because you can do more with one than you can with a 360. You don't have to pay extra $ every month to play online if you have a ps3.
|
okay, in terms of games are they pretty much the same? I like playing fantasy/rpg/adventure games, i dont mind fps either :)
|
I think there's a lot of good games on both consoles. I may have to side with Ginger though, if you plan to be online much the PS3 is free while the Xbox360 you have to pay to get most of the online features.
|
Well, if you want to play online, like others have said, definitely get the PS3 since it's free.
Other than that I would check out exclusives and see if either console has more exclusives that you'd be interested in. Personally I have a 360 (which I went with because it was cheaper, to be honest), and I pretty much like the same kind of games, even though I'm only just slowly getting into the FPS genre now. :3 |
oh okay is the only difference between them two is the online features? besides that its basically the same?
|
I'd mention the RROD, but my PS3 suffered the Yellow Light of Death around the same time in its lifespan that my 360 died, so neither one is perfect. Though, I got a new XBOX for free, while I had to buy a new PS3... I don't know if they still have that policy, though, since this was several years ago.
On the games front, if you like JRPGs in particular, I'd suggest the PS3. Those don't come to the XBOX as frequently, and the PS3 gets nearly all the FPS's, too. Western RPGs, on the other hand, ted to come out for both. That isn't to say there aren't good JRPGs on the XBOX, though, some are even exclusive to it. |

Well for me i love both system each have their strengths and weaknesses but i feel xbox is overall a slightly bit stronger over in a few areas. For one its online is more stable -.- *a month plus of PSN being down due to the hacking*. Plus it has a larger game library. Playstaion has the free internet built in hard drive as well as wireless adapter along with quirky JRPGs and more Japanese games in general
|
Oh, Chocolate, also, if you're interested in suggestions for RPGs on either system, let me know, those are my favorite genre as well and I have quite a few.

Both have some RPGs but to me the 360 has the better ones. Dragon Age and Oblivion/Skyrim are multi-platform. Lost Odyssey is, indeed, 360-exclusive, but I wouldn't say it's something to buy the console over. Had one of the best-written RPG stories ever, true, but I (personally) found the gameplay to be a little stale.
Other 360-exclusive RPGs I can think of are Spectral Force 3 and Infinite Undiscovery, which were both decent/good, but there's just as good on the PS3. The PS3 gets Nippon Ichi and Idea Factory's games exclusive, which if you like JRPGs, are among the best (though they definitely emphasize the "J"). |
I'd go with PS3. All in all it has free online, some Famous and amazing exclusives (Uncharted Series, God Of War series, Killzones, Resistances), but also I just like the setup better, and I think the Playstation Store is more convenient. But if you're going for variety in downloadables, go with XBOX360. They have old arcade games, old JRPGs, Indies, etc. I prefer the PS3 but do whatever you think is best.
|
If you want a console that has allot of exclusive video games, go with PlayStation 3. If you want a console with exclusives that can not be gotten on PlayStation 3, go with Xbox 360.
I personally would go with the PlayStation 3 because it has more exclusives than Xbox 360, along with video games for PlayStation 3 that are available for both consoles; however allot of Xbox 360 players may overlook the PlayStation 3 exclusives and consider them nothing special. Allot of Xbox 360 players may also consider the PlayStation 3 version of video games that are available on both consoles, not as good as the Xbox 360 version. |
Well, in my opinions, I prefer the XBox 360 better, but that's just me personally. I enjoy the games on the 360 better than some of the games on PS3. I guess there's also the kinect so I lean toward the xbox ^^;;. It's true that you have to pay monthly to go online(to be honest, I must admit this sucks) I still think the xbox is better ^^
|
Oh, I forgot, the 360 has the Last Remnant, too. Did that ever get ported to the PS3? Was a pretty cool game, I only got about halfway through, though.
|
That one was a pretty good game, I don't remember if it was put out on PS3 or not.
|
I think it did come out on the PS3 at some point, but the port was supposed to have all kinds of problems. They may have patched it, but I have no idea if they did or not. Or maybe it was the PC it got ported to...

Ah, okay, so it is pretty much an XBOX-exclusive if you only count the consoles.
|
So that, and Tales of Vesperia are my reasons to get the Xbox360. Personally I have a lot more reasons to get a PS3 if I were to choose between them right now, but that's because I'm addicted to Nippon Ichi.

I still need to do that myself. I just get so distracted by a lot of stuff that I don't play much single player stuff anymore.

Well, one could say I'm not in a solo gaming mood, and while that particular one has multi player options, I don't have a second PS3 controller, nor wish for my roommates to play it with me.

I think I'm kind of a backseat gamer a little too. My favorite way to play is cuddling with someone who's watching me play though, and I just can't do that right now :p

x-box is windows based... nuff said <_<
|
Nothing on the web is 100% secure. Even though the PSN was hacked, it won't keep me from enjoying the Playstation 3.
|
I am with Ps3 all the way. BUT! there are some games I do enjoy on a 360. My friends have 360's so i get to play it often.
But from what I notice. (And this is just me) PS3 is more of a single player/ campaign console. PS3 powers in graphics like a mofo. 360 is better with online play, hence having to pay the monthly fee, so less lag. So i mean it all really depends on what you wanna do.. If your wanting to play mostly online. Then probably go 360. But if you wanna do more offline and campaign than definitively go ps3. But yeah i chose to buy a ps3. I have always loved the sony consoles so.. And they do decent online play, but if you have a bad host than its laggier than hell. anyways hope it helps! |
360.
It has backwards capability (more so than the PS3) where the PS3 doesn't. And most games I've found good are on both consoles so on that end it doesn't matter. Also, the 360 is much cheaper. Sure internet play isn't free, but if you don't do that...they you're good. The backwards capability is why I won't get the PS3. It's not worth it for me. I wasted all that money on ps1 and 2 games that I can't play (ps2 was stolen) and to play them I'd have to find a ps2. No. They want me to move to the new gen....backwards....capability. |
Apparently, you don't have to pay to play online on the PS3.
In the long run, these are things you should think about: PS3
Xbox360
Basically If you DO NOT plan to use your information to buy stuff off of the system and you only want to play some under-appreciated RPGS, get the PS3. If you DO plan to buy merchandise off of the system and it's provider, go Xbox360 all the way. Plus, with the new system coming out, yu could always buy a crummy xbox360 and just mess with it to see if you like it instead of wasting monies on a PS3 and, possibly, figuring out you don't like it much. |
One thing, the PS3 does play PS1 games, unless they changed something recently. Mine does.
|
Oh, yes, I think you have to download them though. :/
