Linkin Park

So, noticed that there did not seem to be a thread on Linkin Park and wanted to start one.

What was the first song of theirs that got you hooked?

Favorite album?

Do you like them better in their early work or now?

Also, have any of you listened to Chester's side group Dead by Sunrise?

Espy 11-09-2011 10:55 PM

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE THREAD because I'm thread-making-shy.

First song I heard was In The End; first song I got hooked on was Numb (I blame my Naruto obsession back then and a certain AMV.)

I'm not sure about albums...there're always songs I like and don't like in an album. Though, I used to hate A Thousand Suns because it didn't sound like conventional LP. Now I kind of really like it. Minutes To Midnight is pretty awesome, too.

...Funny how I love the two most depressing albums.

They've had way different sounds through the years; I'm still more used to the older stuff.

As for Dead by Sunrise...never was too interested. Same goes for Mike's art.

foxotanashi 11-09-2011 11:09 PM

I've liked Linkin Park for while. I really cannot seem to remember the first song I heard from them was. I know Numb was one of the first, but the one that got me hooked was Breaking the Habit. It is still one of my favorites now.

As for their albums, it's like other albums. Some songs I like, some I love, some I don't. Kind of depends.

Tiva 11-09-2011 11:10 PM

I think you just made him upset.... He likes their older stuff as in Meteora and before.
I personally can listen to just about anything they have produced so far. Still haven't listened to there newest album though.
My favorite album is Merteora, even though I can't pronounce it. Yes I know it is when they got big but I like the songs and memories attached to them.

Alpha 11-09-2011 11:11 PM

First song of theirs that I listened to and got hooked on was Somewhere I Belong. Music video was amazing.

Favorite album is a tie between Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Same in liking some songs and not so much others, but find that I like more of their old work.

Espy 11-09-2011 11:23 PM

I just remembered my siggy >.>

Breaking the Habit, Somewhere I Belong, Crawling, the remix of Numb, My December...those were all favorites at some time.

Ae86 11-10-2011 01:07 AM

I really like Nobody's listening.

I think thats from Hybrid Theory I think..

I really like Mike Shinoda, he's a bad ass.

also The people from Linkin Park make the band Fort Minor. And also Dead by sunrise.

They are both awesome band

And Mike Shinoda is the main singer in Fort Minor :P

Ishu 11-10-2011 01:59 AM

I, personally, prefer their earlier work. ^^

I have, however, noticed that they seem to have fallen out of... touch? with the rest of the world. I haven't heard anything about a new album or even concerts. Maybe I'm too far under my little rock for my own good or perhaps I'm correct.

Alpha 11-10-2011 08:54 AM

As of late they have been touring overseas. I believe they are back stateside now, but don't quote me on that. As for new album, they have said that one is in the works, but no word on title or rough release date.

Jurinjo 11-10-2011 11:24 AM

I'm...not sure which song of theirs I heard first. I know Hybrid Theory was what I heard the most at first. At one point "Breaking the Habit" was practically my theme song- the video for it only helped. It was a very depressing time for my life and I wasn't even on drugs or...well maybe it was because I did NOTHING. I still kind of do but with a speckle of something sprinkled in sparingly...xD; I didn't use alliteration on purpose there.

I will stay neutral on whether I like them better then or now. I notice my preference changes and will continue to change just as their music has and that- is a good thing.

Ishu 11-11-2011 06:18 AM

@Alpha: Well that is most reassuring ^^

First Song that Got Me Hooked: In The End

Favorite Album: Meteoria

I personally like both their early and their older work, though I tend to lean towards their older works since that's what I grew up on.

And no, never heard of Chester's side group. o.o

Alpha 11-27-2011 10:00 PM

Chester's side band was okay, but not amazing. They opened for the band a couple of times, but haven't heard much about since. I still need to check out Fort Minor....

Kit Katy 01-20-2012 02:21 PM

Crawling was the first song I heard and it has been my favorite ever since.
The new songs they've come out don't feel like the same LP me and my father loved! It was...odd..and too different of a style..

Demonskid 01-20-2012 03:36 PM

It was In the End that i first heard and what got me hooked.. it was on a Gravitation AMV.. the AMV sucked so I made my own with the song.. lost it when my first PC crashed.

I like their cds Hybrid Theory and Meteora ^-^

elaine3305 01-25-2012 04:58 AM

The first song I heard was ... In The End, and I loved it!

Alpha 01-25-2012 10:49 AM

I think In the End was the first song a lot of people heard.

Toxic Rainbow Kisses 01-27-2012 10:32 AM

What was the first song of theirs that got you hooked?

A place for my Head

Favorite album?
Hybrid Theroy

Do you like them better in their early work or now?
Earlier Work

Also, have any of you listened to Chester's side group Dead by Sunrise?
*goes off to listen to them.

My first concert was Linkin Park. It was my 16 birthday (Literally)2/20/2004. My best friend had got me and her a ticket to go see them It was so fun

kyza 02-14-2012 12:26 PM

first song i heard from LP was Numb i got hooked on given up :)

Echo-chan713 02-14-2012 01:37 PM

What was the first song of theirs that got you hooked?
I think it was 'In the End' on the radio

Favorite album?
Hybrid Theory (the studio album not the EP)

Do you like them better in their early work or now?
I think i like their earlier works because it had the joining of rapping with the alternative rock theme and the lyrics seems more complex as well as the music video. Watch in the end official music video, it's very abstract 0_0.

Also, have any of you listened to Chester's side group Dead by Sunrise? No i have not, but I'll put that on my list to listen to

AgentKaz 02-18-2012 11:09 PM

First song I heard was probably Crawling. Favorite album is everything before Minutes to Midnight.

I kind of stopped listening to Linkin Park after Minutes to Midnight. It was really disappointing and I was kinda like "I quit!"

I don't remember what song I heard first of theirs. It
was one of their big original songs.

Favorite album? Maybe Minutes to Midnight

Do you like them better in their early work or now? I don't have a preference. I love all their work.

Also, have any of you listened to Chester's side group Dead by Sunrise?

What was the first song of theirs that got you hooked? I believe it was "In the End". I was going through some really rough emotional stuff at the time, so I could really relate to the song.

Favorite album? The only albums I purchased were "Hybrid Theory", and eventually "Meteora". I'm not a fan of live albums, and "Meteora" without the live stuff bundled was hard to find where I lived at the time (Chester's hometown of Phoenix, AZ). I did finally find "Meteora" without all th live stuff, and snatched it up as soon as I found it. I would have to say that "Breaking the Habit" is my favourite song by them. "In the End" and "Somewhere I Belong " are tied as a close second. I almost wore out my iPod from listening to my fave songs from both albums on a daily basis.
I REALLY love the video for "In the End". I'm a huge fan of the Chronicles of Riddick, and I think the video for "In the End" has that same feel.

Do you like them better in their early work or now? I only know their earlier work. I find that with many bands, I prefer their first album (or in this case, first two studio albums) over all the rest. I guess I'm a stick in the mud LOL

Also, have any of you listened to Chester's side group Dead by Sunrise? Never heard of that project until now. I really like Chester's singing voice and lyrics, so maybe I'll check them out ^_~

Alpha 10-11-2012 11:25 PM

Well, their latest album, LIVING THINGS, is out and I wanted to know if anyone else had listened to it as of yet.

Honestly, I think it is a return to more of what they did in earlier albums. My two favorite songs out of it are BURN IT DOWN, and CASTLE OF GLASS.

Mika 10-12-2012 03:36 AM

I enjoy most of Linkin Park rather equally. Can't pick favourites. ;3

SoulOfThyKnyte 10-12-2012 10:18 AM

The first song I heard by Linkin Park, was "In The End". That song alone made me hurry to purchase "Hybrid Theory". I do prefer their older stuff but some of their new songs are pretty catchy. From time to time I still find myself throwin' on one of there older albums and rockin' out likeI'im 15 again haha. ^.^

Espy 10-12-2012 11:34 AM

Castle of Glass made me bawl bucketfuls.

Alpha 10-12-2012 12:16 PM

The video was more likely to make me do that than the song itself.....

hyjin 10-13-2012 02:20 AM

Breaking the Habit
Meteora
Both are fairly good i liked their old music bc of the lyrics but the new for the beats

Tears 11-16-2012 11:50 PM

In The End
Meteora
I like most of their works, regardless of the time written.

I listen to Dead By Sunrise sometimes.

Darth Vader 11-17-2012 04:41 PM

I definitely prefer their older work. Their newer stuff is just... no. I think I started liking them when I first heard "One Step Closer" or "In the End." They still remain my favorite songs by them, as well as "Numb."
