Disney Princesses

I've been on a Disney movie princesses kick, but i think Ive run out. Any good Disney princesses movies out there i didn't think of. Ive watched most of the classics. Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Odette and Pocahontas. Those are the ones i can think of I've watched.

Also who and who dont you think should be considered a Disney princess. Like the new one, Princess and the Frog im not to keen on it being a princess movie.

Suggestions, comments ^w^ love you all

Reyoki 12-15-2011 09:02 PM

Odette isn't a Disney princess, silly, but I do think The Swan Princess is a great movie. Anastasia was another really good princess movie, even if it is another non-Disney one.

lol it worked for me, dont tell my brain that xD oh! i watched that one too, had to buy it though. im old fashion and all my princesses movies are on vhs. lol

Reyoki 12-15-2011 09:09 PM

Mine are, too! I'm not going to seek out the DVDs until my VHS player stops working. I'm cheap like that.

Bre-berry 12-15-2011 09:13 PM

Why seek out new when the old works perfectly well! :D im gunna work my vhs's still they dont work no more. lol hopefully they last a long time.

Reyoki 12-15-2011 09:15 PM

My only concern for my VHS tapes is storage when I move out after I graduate from college. All mine are in those big bulky plastic cases instead of the slim cardboard ones.

Bre-berry 12-15-2011 09:20 PM

Ya they do take up a lot of room in their plastic cases. maybe stick them in a plastic storage bin you can buy at the store?

Fey 12-16-2011 03:33 PM

LOL you can tell an age gap when you say 'classic disney princesses' and none of the ones you list even come into my head.

My favourite Disney princess movie is Sleeping Beauty, but I do enjoy the 'classics' of Snow White, Cinderella, and The Black Caldron. And then it gets into semantics. Are you wanting actual Princess movies(where the girl either is, or becomes royalty) cause then I enjoy Mulan and Hunchback, but neither end up even in the Nobility let lone Royalty. And for just fun times I love Treasure Planet and Emporer's New Groove, but decidedly NOT princesses LMAO. Though...Kuzco...at the beginning...we could argue this.

Echo-chan713 12-31-2011 04:13 PM

And I heard that their going to have a Disney Princess after Rapunzel, but she won't be in the list of Disney Princess and the princess is like 5-6 years old and I think her name is Sophia the First.

Arikana 01-02-2012 10:14 PM

Based on the list in your first post, you've missed Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty...

*tries to see if I've got anymore off the top of my mind* >w<

Fey 01-02-2012 11:45 PM

Atlantis! I always forget that one(as does Disney), which is sad, she's one of the few actual Crown Princess'(princess by birth not marriage).

You mean Kida? Here's all of the official and unofficial Princesses:

Official Princesses:

Snow White
Cinderella
Aurora
Ariel
Belle
Jasmine
Pocahontas
Mulan
Tiana
Rapunzel

Unofficial princesses:

-Alice (Alice has appeared in official Disney Princess art, and is included in the Disney Princess music video, though she still remains excluded from the official lineup.)

-Tinker Bell (She was once included under the principle that the princess need not be of royal heritage. However, it was decided she was not suited for the series "mythology". She now stars in her own Disney franchise, the Disney Fairies.)

-Giselle (was originally going to be added to the line, until Disney realized it would have to pay the actress, Amy Adams, royalties for using her likeness).

-Kairi (the princess of heart which does classify as a Disney Princess from Kingdom Hearts).

-Minnie Mouse

-Daisy Duck (Daisy Duck has portrayed a princess)

-Wendy Darling (Peter Pan)

-Maid Marian (Robin Hood)

-Nala (This is most likely to be because she is an animal, while all of the other Disney Princesses are human.)

-Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)

-Megara (Hercules)

-Jane Porter (Tarzan)

-Melody (Possibly because of her young age. However, her mother is; Ariel)

-Kida (She's not included in the Disney Princess franchise because her film is not a musical.)

-Kairi (Kingdom Hearts)

-Ting-Ting, Su, and Mei (Mulan II)

-Kilala Reno (Kilala Princess, a manga the has Disney Princesses as the plot)

REFERENCE: Wikipedia and Disney Princess Wikia

P.S. there's going to be 2 future Princesses: Princess Sophia the First and Princess Merida from BRAVE

Fey 01-03-2012 12:10 AM

That's disney's list, but I always have issues since they list people at 1)aren't royalty(ie an actual princess) 2)leave off ones that SHOULD be on there

Echo-chan713 01-03-2012 01:01 AM

Some that I've seen are that they are married into Royalty, and I didn't even know that Snow white was born into royalty

Alpha 01-03-2012 01:55 AM

Yeah she was according to the original story. Her father remarried to the queen who later tries to kill her (well, witch technically).

Odette from Swan Princess?

That movie isn't Disney =w=

Nest Family Entertainment
Rich Animation Studios

are the groups who did Swan Princess

Tiva 01-03-2012 01:14 PM

Yes but I still love to movies, though we no longer have a VHS player

TwinkleQueen 06-08-2017 01:26 PM

Hello there! This is probably a dead conversation, but I just wanted to take the time to mention two of my favorite princesses, Snow White and Rapunzel. I love Rapunzel's character design and color combination of lavender purple and gold, as well as her association with the sun (I love the sun, moon, and stars) and her signature purple dress. However, I also love Snow White's striped puffy sleeves (for whatever reason I'm a sucker for those kinds of sleeves on princess dresses) and trademark white collar, especially when accompanied by her red cape and red hair bow. I know I'm mostly kind of partial to these characters based on aesthetics, but I just love their designs and outfits.

:0 I found this thread while browsing media and see it's been going on for a few years. xD

I love the princesses, I grew up on them. :3 My favorite was always changing when I was a kid. xD First it was Snow White, then it was Ariel, then Jasmine... I think, anyway. o_O

But now I know my favorite and it's gonna stay that way. XD Brave grew on me a lot over time and Merida's definitely my favorite. :3 But I do love Mulan, Rapunzel, and Snow White as well. Moana's one of my favorites, too, though she hasn't joined the lineup yet.

Quiet Man Cometh 12-29-2017 05:28 AM

I got a kick out of Robot Chicken's Disney Princess War. Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, Aurora and Cinderella vs. Merida, Tiana, Mulan, Rupunzel, and Belle. (Pocahontas and Tinkerbell make cameos.)

Not kid friendly though.

RedRum 04-11-2018 08:32 PM

Ironically, Anastasia, a film misconceived as a Disney film, has recently become one as Disney has purchased Fox.
I presume that has added Anastasia herself to the official Disney princesses.

Quiet Man Cometh 04-13-2018 06:37 PM

I can't help but wonder if people would take issue with Anastasia being called a Disney Princess given she was real person and people (I assume) are still debating what happened to her.

The same of sorts can be said of Mulan but I'm not really sure enough of her story to say how close it remains to real life.

KittyBeary 04-14-2018 03:43 AM

I don't consider Anastasia a Disney anything, even though Disney bought Fox. The movie was still made by Fox, so she's still a er, Fox Princess. XD

Now, if Disney makes their own Anastasia movie, then we can talk. :P

No. That debate has been settled.

In 2007 her's and her brother's DNA were conclusively identified in a previously undiscovered grave near the site where the rest of the family's remains were found in 1991.

The film is pure fiction.
The real Romanav murders were nothing resembling what was depicted.

If it's telling in chapter 2 of the novel 'Warrior Woman' is accurate then not close at all. It's not Disney friendly.

Considering it involves sorcery and singing bugs, I would assume as much.

No idea about Mulan other than it's based off Chinese legend, but "Kid friendly" hasn't exactly been important to Disney all the time. Things get re-worked as needed (eg. The Little Mermaid or Hunchback of Notre Dame, so I hear). I'm not talking about accuracy though, but just what they decide to make a movie out of. Greece was none too pleased with the Disney rendition of Hercules.

That's what the telling in 'Warrior Woman' would imply but that's where my knowledge ends as well.

That's what I'm saying, Disney essentially doesn't use the source material but rather reimagines it with vague references.

I imagine that neither were the Powhatan people with Pocahontas.
Disney outright dismissed their offer of consultation in favor of a rendition that romanticized a tragedy in blatant disrespect of Native American history and of a young woman's suffering.

I didn't realize that about Hercules.

Once again illustrating my above point that they don't really use the source material.

I wasn't arguing against it. Just saying that it's one thing to take fictional material, and another to use history and religion.

The issue with Hercules was that they pretty much re-wrote a pile of Greek legends and myths without thought to how relevant that all is to Greek culture.

Same thing with Pocahontas from one side, though some people disagree. Apparently the man who voiced her father in the movie thought it was ultimately beneficial because they flat out admitted that Europeans came to North America with the intention of exploiting resources and such, and it shows the culture clash.

But this is not stuff about Princesses.

I've been waiting to hear how the new TV Princess Elena was received. That's my niece's name so we've been half expecting her to want to be called "Princess" now. But then, she's a pick about anyone else using the same name as her.

I kinda like the sneaky trick they pulled in The Fog Princess with Tiana though. Princess by marriage. ;)

I thought that was clever as well.
I'd been braced for disappointment when Tiana announced that she and Naveen wanted to remain frogs. I wasn't a fan of the Brother Bear films ending on essentially the same note.
It even surprising them was part of what made that great though.

Quiet Man Cometh 04-23-2018 03:04 AM

Never did see Brother Bear, but I did chuckle at the moose.

RedRum 04-23-2018 06:46 PM

It's a good movie with an amazing soundtrack by Phil Collins.

Gogandantes 08-11-2019 10:31 PM
