Anyone who shows great valor, honor, or some other virtue of the battle will receive an award, to be named and drawn out at the time. These honors will be placed here, above the list of shame, for those who show dishonor or poor form in things like God-moding or otherwise.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 02:06 PM

What is God-moding

This threads definition goes as follows:
Controlling anything, including your own characters actions, that can drastically effect the battle in a way that is not realistic.

Wiki answers gives 5 decent examples:
In roleplay, it means trying to exert too much control over the plot and other characters, usually because the player has no concept of in character or out of character and is there to "win" and satisfy their ego rather than be creative and collaborative. Examples:

1) Invincibility
Creating a character so powerful and invulnerable that it cannot take any damage, be incapacitated or hindered, lose a fight, feel pain etc.

2) Dictating other players' responses
Swinging a punch and telling the other player that they are down, that they are unconscious, cut, dead or whatever.

3) Impossibility
Drawing a knife when your hands are tied. Pulling a bow out of your rectum when you're on the ground and hogtied (I wish I were making this up). Drawing a bow out of your rectum at all, come to that. Being held by the hair and with a knife at your throat but whizzing round and slapping your captive and disarming them.

4) Just plain silliness
Taking the plot to asinine turns purely to avoid your character having to suffer a misfortune too weak for your manly fictitious self. Being shot at and deflecting the bullet with a penny on a string so that it flies back up the gun nozzle. Again, I wish I were making this up.

5) Anything that is used to let one character force the plot and does not enable the story to be a properly collaborative effort with plausibility.

Ergo, I send you forward! HAVE AT YOU!!

*Draws sword and goes into combat*

Espy 12-18-2011 02:15 PM

-ducks under sword- Jeez, don't try to kill a poor yet-to-apply >.>

Funkduder 12-18-2011 02:34 PM

"HAVE AT YOU, NAMELESS WARRIOR!" he cried as he slammed his hammer down at him.

Espy 12-18-2011 03:14 PM

((Time to make a battle avi? Also, have you heard some of the music by Adrian von Ziegler? Really sets the mood here.))

-ducks to one side- Pfft. Way too slow.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 03:16 PM

"Aha! A quick one, I see," he said as he switched hammer with sword and shield.
"Regardless you will fall!" he cried as he charged with shield in front of him (I'm playing it right now.)

Espy 12-18-2011 03:21 PM

((Which song?))

-backs up against a wall- Hey hey, don't you think it's a bit mean to charge at someone who's unarmed...?

Funkduder 12-18-2011 03:25 PM

He sighed as he tossed the warrior his hammer. "Arm yourself, or run, fallen one. Valhalla is no place for the innocent child."
((Wolves of the Sea before. Now it's Fatal Lullaby))

Espy 12-18-2011 03:42 PM

((Haha, different album. Gleipnir is awesome.))

Sidestepping the hammer, he leapt a good distance up the wall and found a ledge to hold on to.

"Me, use a hammer? Suuuurely you jest." With that, he kicked off and landed behind the warrior, two blades seemingly materializing in his hands. They'd been hidden against the mercenary's back.

((And for reference. http://www.piratemerch.com/images/pi...ord_290_2_.jpg He also holds them icepick-grip.))

Funkduder 12-18-2011 03:50 PM

"Not only a quick one, but a trickster too!" An indent was left in the floor where the hammer landed. Anger welled up inside him, making his blood boil...but before anything could be made of it, he subsided it. "No. I will face you using my own strength!" He called before throwing his shield, Frisbee-styled, at the warrior. He ran forward, grabbing the hammer and chased the shield to its destination, the double-bladed warrior.

Espy 12-18-2011 04:06 PM

Skoll whipped around, barely blocking the shield with both blades. Cushioning the impact, he drew back, then kicked the shield as hard as he could. I obviously don't have the advantage, he mused as he scanned his surroundings. The gray walls seems insurmountable ten feet up.

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 04:06 PM

(Can anyone join in or is it just a 1x1 'till someone dies and then is replaced?
What I'm asking is can I join in now, or do I have to wait for a victor of this match?)

Espy 12-18-2011 04:12 PM

((Go ahead and join, I think. It's a free-for-all.))

Funkduder 12-18-2011 04:14 PM

((it's a FFA. join as you feel like it EDIT: I think I just got swooped))
As the shield flew away from his opponent, he seemed to disappear, whether he ran or stood ground, he did not know, so he went up to get a better view.
He got about 7 feet up the wall before he had to stab the said wall with his sword. He looked up. The shield was flying down from the wall, and he watched it fall and hit a random fighter in the head. Wincing at the sight, he climbed to the top of his sword, and using it as a base, he was able to climb up to the top. Now that he only had a hammer, he grasped it with both hands, looking around for the man he was fighting.

Espy 12-18-2011 04:17 PM

((Uh....Funkie, where is your guy? Skoll's still on the ground, just looking at the walls and running.))

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 04:21 PM

(Thank you for explaining. @Espy, I think he climbed a wall.)
Edmund had settled at the edge of the crowd and was watching the man on the wall with interest. He was eager for a fight but was aware that the man on the wall was fighting someone else already. He startled from his relaxed when he was rushed at only to glare when his would be opponent got crushed by a falling shield. Edmund was glad it was not him under the shield but he did want to fight someone. His eyes wandered back up to the man on the wall and wondered if he could scale the wall and engage in a fight with him without being shot down by someone with arrows.

((ooops I thought your guy went up the wall. I'll post that he went up to see better later.))
EDIT:
It took less than a minute to find who he was looking for, the double bladed warrior on the ground, but in a battle, it seemed like an hour or more. His instincts told him time and time again to look behind himself, and as he did each time, he saw another nameless warrior get killed. It didn't scare him, especially since he's seen plenty more while he was a mortal being, a soldier.
Jumping down from the wall, he landed back on to his sword, unfortunately, physics still applied in valhalla and it broke, sending him to the ground.
He quickly raised himself up, again and with hammer in hand, he rushed towards the shield, ready to attack anyone who got in his way.

EDIT EDIT: ((sorry, that was terrible RPing on my part. I edited my last post so that it all made sense.)

Espy 12-18-2011 04:33 PM

Skoll doubled back, glad that he hadn't broken his trend of wearing monotonous colors. The ghastly creping fog probably hid him well. Somewhere to the right of him, the warrior's shield clattered; some coward had been trying to join the fray.

He found himself wishing there were more fighters -- battling one-on-one in a flat open space was not his strong suit.

Skoll glared at the first warrior. If he wanted to stay up there, he might as well have just signed his death contract, Skoll thought as he skirted around the edges of the arena, not wanting to be visible.

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 04:39 PM

When the man on the wall jumped down and ran towards his original opponent Edmund grinned. On the wall it would have been harder but here on the land joining in would be much easier. He raced towards the hammer wielding warrior, who in turn appeared to be running towards the shield that had killed his would be opponent.

Edmund used his sword as both weapon and shield, carelessly tearing through the unnamed who got in the way of him and the one he wanted to fight. Edmund had long lost sight of the dual wielding warrior that had first fought the man with the mace, but assumed he would reappear eventually.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 04:43 PM

Night grabbed his shield and went into a roll. To his left, he saw what seemed to be a hurricane of blood. If any warrior was worthier it would have been this one, who made the hurricane. He charged towards the crowd of men standing in his way and bashed through.

Espy 12-18-2011 04:47 PM

Perfect. Much too perfect. This general chaos was the best environment for a rogue.

Skoll crept closer, hugging the shadows of the walls, then ran to the shielded warrior and tried to kick his legs out from under him. Seemingly honorable people, these two were. They had probably never met an underhanded fighter before.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 04:50 PM

Night was about to smash another head in, when he slipped, hitting his knee instead, as he fell to the dirt, turning back, he saw the double-blade man above him, and he glared as he rose up, shield in hand, and attempted to backhand him with a solid shield bash.

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 04:54 PM

Edmund was grinning, this was how he liked it. The general choas and disorder made it difficult for most and he would admit it made it harder for himself, but it was not a fight unless he pushed his limits. Edmund became aware of the man in black only after the blow to the hammer wielding warriors legs. He knew that kind of fighter, and was all to aware of how dangerous they were. Worthy opponents, the both of them were, finally a real fight. Edmund quickly broke through the wall that had divided him from the other two to see the shielded man fall. Edmund was quick to attack the man in black with a simply thrust, trusting him to parry it.

Espy 12-18-2011 04:57 PM

Smirking, Skoll ducked backwards. There was no parrying a direct thrust when one was only armed with two blades. If he couldn't beat the weapons and brute strength, he would have to aim for weaknesses. Still on his feet, the mercenary launched himself into a mid-air barrage of kicks.

((Short post is short. Also...are your characters wearing what your avi's are?))

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 05:06 PM

(Shorten my cape to almost non-existant then you'll have what my character is wearing)

Edmund cursed as he stepped backwards. His blade was too bulky to properly defend himself from the kicks and his smaller blade was unusable because of how his sword had been hit by the shield. If he kept making beginner mistakes like this he would surely end up dead. He placed his sword as best he could in front of him to give him slight protection from the kicks.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 05:08 PM

The Shield missed the man in black, hit a sword that thrusted towards the man instead as he saw him duck down. He was about to follow up with his hammer when a swift kick knocked him back. A man with a blade as tall as his body stood next to him as he recovered. The blade, he noticed, was the one he accidental batted away and it was drenched in blood. He hopped back, putting his shield in front of him again, cautious of him.

(same here, except the cape is only a foot shorter, than the one on my avi)

Espy 12-18-2011 06:10 PM

Skoll launched himself off the cloaked man's large hammer, somersaulting through the air before bringing both blades down at the warriors head. The newcomer would have to wait for later.

((Short post again. Skoll pretty much looks like my avi.))

Funkduder 12-18-2011 06:28 PM

Being on guard, Night was ready as the man in black slashed downward. He swung right, moving his shield so that it redirected the blow to the side. He spun, giving him strong momentum as he brought the hammer back around to slam the ground that he thought the man in black would stand on.

(my posts feel short, but that's alright in an rp thread like this)

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 10:20 PM

Reorinating himself, Edmund quickly reentered the fight. His sword has been switched with his scyth in those short minutes he had been ignored by the other combatants and he used it to attack the man with the shield. He aimed for the neck area of the man with the shield hoping to catch him off guard.

Funkduder 12-18-2011 10:37 PM

Night was caught wide-eyed, when he saw the scythe come around. He was glad that he swung the hammer back-handed, lest he would be beheaded, without even seeing the chance to prevent it. Although he continued his spin to slam the scythe away from him, there was still damage. A cut appeared on his neck and although small as far as cuts go, it was big enough to start bleeding quickly, squirting a stream ahead of him. With his adrenaline pumping and his fear, rising, he abandoned his hammer to the ground and ran back fast. As fast as could sprint, he retreated to his broken sword.
There, he took the broken blade, and although it caused him to bleed from his hands a little, he was able to cut some of his cap and tie it to his neck, stopping the flow rather quickly.

Espy 12-18-2011 10:46 PM

Skoll twisted to avoid the scythe and instead went careening into scantily-clad man. Jumping to his feet, he muttered a quick apology and chased the running warrior. The injured die more easily.

DarkForbidden-Love 12-18-2011 10:54 PM

(@Espy, did you careen into me or some other scantily clad man?)
Edmund was amused by the actions of the man who had wielded the hammer. A quick glane at the discarded hammer told him that he would be unable to destroy the weapon so he left it as he chased after both the man in black and the one he had wounded. The scyth was not as natural in his hands as the sword was but he was still able to manuever well enough with it.

Espy 12-18-2011 10:55 PM

((I careened into you.))

Funkduder 12-19-2011 12:02 AM

Thoughts raced through his mind just as his eyes raced for the other piece of his broken sword. Night couldn't just run back to grab the hammer without facing the scythe, and if the other was as good with the scythe as he was with the sword, or if the scythe caused the hurricane of blood, he wouldn't be able to get past him without another fatal cut. Ergo, he looked for the other piece of the blade. Although broken, it was still sharp, and he cold use it to defend himself better than with only a shield....
Then he puased and thought for a moment, noticing the man in black, snaking towards him through the warriors either fighting or dead....fighting ... He looked at the nearest dead body and muttered "You weapon is required, comrade" as he stole his iron axe. It hand a wooden handle but looked stable and even had to edges.

He stood, feeling better defended as he saw his opponents through the chaos and carnage.

DarkForbidden-Love 12-19-2011 12:24 AM

Edmund snarled as someone stepped into his path. It was another no name wielding a simple axe and not much else. A carefully placed blow dispatched him but it had slowed him down enough that the man in black would definatly beat him to the other, unless he too was also acosted by another fighter. This would mean he would have to attack the man in black again to equal the score. A quick knife to the gut took care of another man and Edmund sighed before calmly creating a wake of dead people on his path to the other two. "At least I get to practice with my scyth," he murmered angrily.

Espy 12-19-2011 12:26 AM

He'd preferred attacking from a flank, but Skoll decided to charge head-on, ready to parry any weapon. The now-scythe-wielding newcomer was close behind; he'd have to be taken care of after Skoll dispatched of this man.
