"Where did you grow up?"

I was just thinking today~
Am I the only one who finds that an odd question? Just the moment when you're talking to someone and they're suddenly asking you where you grew up. I just never know how to answer, and people never understand when I ask them if they mean where I lived, or the moment in time where I finally felt like I'd grow up, out grown things, and if so what things?
The people I talk to never seem to get what I'm trying to say~
Do you think it's weird, questions like "Where did you grow up?"?
How do you answer that?
What other questions do you think are strange?
Also.. xD Where did you "grow up"?

Desserts 02-08-2012 09:36 PM

I don't think Is strange. Its another way of saying It.I never heard no one say that me but,"where you from". I grew up In st.petersburg florida.

MuseSick 02-08-2012 09:45 PM

Ah ^^ I guess maybe it isn't as strange as it is uncommon.
Florida! Oh Oh. I've been meaning to ask~
Since of course you live in the state where Universal and Disneyland are, have you ever been? o.o

☪ஐﻬ☽ I find that a odd question.
Because I don't know what to say to them.
I lived in a couple places during my growing
up years. I just don't know what to say.
That is like the only question I find odd.

But I lived in Lowell, Wisconsin til I finished
first grade then moved to Watertown, Wisconsin
til I moved when I was 17 in with my future
father in law. I loved Lowell. It's a small
tiny town with nothing in it but a terminal
for semis. I really want to move back into my
old house, minus the damn bat LOL. But I suggest
no one move to Watertown. It's a hell hole.

Ugh, Disney World is so boring... unless you're under ten. Epcot is the shiz, though. I know. I grew up in Lakeland, FL. Still here, too! Universal is better.

I know nothing about any Disney place or Universal.
I barley have been out of this state. Except when

Jersey to see his mom. I did get to see the ocean.
It wasn't that special.

@Saiyouri: xD I like your little warning at the end~ Yeah I don't like answering where I grew up. o.o; I kind of always thought it was just asking where you lived longest when you were under 18. xD Aside from the "With my parents" answer.
@Yume: xD See, I hear that a lot. I have friends who live IN Orlando, and they haven't even been. One of them has been to Universal, once, and that's it. xD
@Reyoki: ._.; Yeah.. Canadian's from Ontario really have nothing aside from Wonderland and the CN tower. xD So we don't have much to compare.

☪ஐﻬ☽ Hehe thanks Muse. I got a really bad
education there. It was because I was an outcast
and a quiet person who was really shy so I got
picked on alot and teachers even started to join
in on the picking too. And I even ended up with
getting no help in class from my teachers when I
didn't understand something. My husband hated what
happened to me so much, he made sure we moved out
of the area before our kids got old enough to go
to school so they wouldn't have to go there. If
you are a popular person then it's a ok place to
live but if you are a outcast, then it's not a
good place to live. >.>

Saiyouri: Ah really? I mean I guess I don't really know I've been to thre- technically four schools. But I think teachers here because there are so many kids who are loud, and rude, they kind of enjoy the quiet ones. ☪ஐﻬ☽ Thanks Muse. It did make me who I am today.
I now know what to watch out for. And I can
tell a good teacher from a bad one.

You would assume they would like the quiet
ones but where I lived it was like if you
weren't popular, then who cares about you.
Only the popular kids got attention and
majority of the school was popular. Not many
kids from my school were outcasts. There
was even a outcast popular group >.> I was
the outcast outcast if that makes any sense.

To me it's only odd depending on age. I mean I've seen people ask it to middle school age kids. I for one don't quite think of myself as 'Grown Up' even though I'm 21, so yeah.

I mean for me, I've lived all my life in Davie County, NC, but I spent most of my summers with my grandparents in the mountains of Southwestern Virgina. But I feel as though I've 'Grown Up' the most here at college, so I almost feel as though saying my college is a more appropriate answer.

My mom loves that movie, I don't know why.

Yokuutsu 02-09-2012 01:00 AM

It's where you lived most/all of your childhood. For some, there is no answer because they moved.

I grew up where I am sitting right now. I've lived in the same house all 22 years of my life so far.

MuseSick 02-09-2012 10:07 AM

@Echo-Chan: xD I hear it's good, but I've never seen it, I've just seen previews of it on the movie channels.

@Yokuutsu: I mean xD I know what people are asking most of the time. But sometimes I can't help but think if anyone has ever thought of it that way.

I mean I've moved three times, but if I was really going to answer that, I'd say in my current house, because I've lived here for 10 years as of August. Since I moved here in 1st grade. But- I guess my question would make sense if you added "When" instead of "where".

Yokuutsu 02-09-2012 08:23 PM

But...with when....I have no answer D:

I don't wanna grow up XD

MuseSick 02-09-2012 08:43 PM

TO NEVER NEVER LAND! :D

Kali_Namir 02-09-2012 09:23 PM

Southwest Virginia was gorgeous growing up, but it was the poor part of the mountains. So I got to watch my grandparents expand their small two bedroom home to the house I adore. I also got to basically explore the mountains and use an outhouse growing up. It's also where I learned to cook, from my Granny.

MuseSick 02-09-2012 09:34 PM

That actually sounds great, o.o; it just sounds so- o.o; Homey? xD That sounds like a weird way of putting it. But it sounds kind of like the nice places you read about in books, and well the nice things I guess too~

Echo-chan713 02-09-2012 10:13 PM

I'm now in a small town of longmont where it takes 10 minutes on main st to get to the north to southside

MuseSick 02-10-2012 10:09 AM

I've always wanted to live in a place like that ._.;

I live in a "town" that technically has a population of a City. We keep the name "Town" because it's more inviting to people who are just moving it. It takes- I live on one end of Whitby, and it takes way more than an hour to travel the whole thing. It took an hour to two hours just to walk to my old elementary school, which, isn't even in the middle. D:
And I walk fast ._.;
But I guess it's kind of nice here. I mean my aunt lives one door down from me, so that I like, since I like to visit her a lot. But it's not really a special place, the only place I thought was special is being bulldozed to become some kind of resort. D:
