Dream avatar creator

Is there a Dream Avatar creator? o:
Just wondering~ I'm new here.

Tiva 03-10-2012 07:27 PM

No there is not, and there are no plans to create an official one, if you want to look at items you could look through the item guide in Trisphee talk.

Demonskid 03-10-2012 07:34 PM

As Tiva said, we don't have one and will not be making one. BUT users are free to create one them selves if they can. :3

Awww D: I might try when I'm absolutely not busy. xP

It is a lot of work, and it will ruin avi contests....

Lucid: 03-10-2012 08:54 PM

So many people ask for them, though, that I would really like to see somebody make one just so we can finally say "Yes, it's over here" instead of "Nope, make it yourself if you want it so bad."

Dorian Pavus 03-10-2012 09:52 PM

it would make things so much easier if we had one. ; n;

Not sure how that works...?

Coda 03-11-2012 12:46 PM

No, she's right, if you can submit a dream avatar to an avatar contest that takes the collecting aspect out. Harming the drive to collect items is one reason I don't want to offer one ourselves.

Tiva 03-11-2012 01:14 PM

It would also mean that you could use a huge amount of rare items to make things, and then all of the avis would be super expensive to make.
Like if you used a whole avi of just companions. 12k a piece (roughly based on a sale done by Obbie recently) times say 12 (4 wings of lunae's, 1 aura in lunae's, sparkles of Fenrir's, the dress, shoes, make up, and sash of Lunae's, the veil of Fenrir's, and Zepher's obi) It would be an awesome avi but it would cost 144k for just those 12 items not including what else you could add in.

Lucid: 03-11-2012 02:39 PM

But I can already do that. >.> [/irrelevant]
There's two sides to it. Some people have a lot of items and have a huge advantage in avatar contests over newer people who might only have commons. A dream avatar creator puts everybody on a level playing field and forces people to be more creative with things like layering and color coordination. But I do see how it reduces the drive to collect multiples of rare items. If you don't wear it yourself and don't need it for a contest, there isn't much point unless you want to sell it later.

Tiva 03-11-2012 02:45 PM

Lucid you are one of few...

Fauxreal 03-11-2012 04:35 PM

I was on a site where one of the Omni-mods would get on a mule with all the items and take requests as to what people wanted to see. You had to fill out a form and there was a small fee to get a 'Dream Avatar' this way - and all the proceeds went to an item raffle ~ If you had paid for a 'Dream Avatar' you were automatically entered, you could also purchase tickets.

It's extra work but people seemed to like it. It also put more older items newer members thought were impossible to get - into the system.

Just an idea.

Avox 03-15-2012 06:37 PM

I have to throw this out there...

As a new user, I feel incredibly disadvantaged on this site. Not only is there in incredible amount of items, it's pretty much impossible to keep track of what poses belong to which items. Having a small inventory, and therefore a limited amount of poses, I get pretty bored. Even with questing items, I'm unaware of the possibilities, really. Sure, I like the items from this bundle, but what items can I get that will go with it? What colors do they come in again? And commons... I'm still trying to figure out what some of the common items offered are. I've gone through all of them and have looked at all of them, but I can't remember.

For me, dream avatar systems INCREASE the want for items by allowing me to know the possibilities. Collecting the items wouldn't go down, I think. If the only reason you're collecting items is to make avatars for contests and not to actually use, people could always hold 'Inventory Only' avatar contests, in which contestants would be required to save their avatar, showing that they have it. The host could then save a picture for proof or just have them wait until the end of the contest. They could then just click 'revert' and go back to their old avatar.

I really like the items here, and the people, but not having a goal to visualize takes away from my motivation for this site. =/ Then again, that's just my point of view. ^-^

Coda 03-15-2012 07:22 PM

I don't disagree, but I believe that the appropriate place for such a feature is on a fan-run site, not on Trisphee itself. There are too many maintenance issues with keeping a dream avatar editor separate from our main editor, and this is actually the MAIN issue; everything else is secondary.

Tiva 03-15-2012 08:04 PM

Numb we have an item guide where you can see every pose of available item.

Avox 03-15-2012 08:49 PM

Coda - That's what I figured, but how is a regular user supposed to create such a thing? D; I mean, with access to the images of EVERY pose for EVERY item, with every picture labeled, I would attempt to make SOMETHING that might help a little with the situation, but without that, it would take months to just collect the images.

Tiva - Oh, I know, and I've gone through the guide and looked at all the poses; however, I still couldn't tell you the names of certain items or what this item looks like layered under that item. You know?

Dorian Pavus 03-25-2012 12:01 AM

Numb Put it better then I could.

I really believe with the number of items and there in poses its improbable, if not impossible for even a group of users to makes this all on their own without help from the staff. If the users could do it theirself we would have some form of a Dream Avatar maker by now even if it was incomplete.

Tiva 03-25-2012 12:07 AM

I know Creavan has been using the item guide in photoshop to piece together avatars.

Crevan 03-25-2012 02:48 AM

Tiva; Yes while I do that, it only helps when you have the same base color though, because some items like the eyes and lips blend into the base you are using.. And for items that layer on the back, like the Incogninja back sword, in the preview for it, it does not show the sword, so when saving the item it only shows the front layer not the back layer. If that makes sense.

Edit: I have since fixed that problem but sadly so far the fix is only for items I own or that are in the shops.
