Halloween is over

So Halloween is coming, one of my favorite holidays.

The special seasonal foods, spiced coffees, costumes, The whole works. How do you celebrate Halloween? do you still trick or treat? Buy candy for yourself? Do you stock up on all the wonderful decorations they have?

I could really go for a pumpkin Latte about now. How about you?

Kaguya 08-25-2012 03:10 PM

It's over two months till halloween, so this is early. lol.

I spend halloween normally with my fiance's family, however, this year I'm hoping to spend a quiet night with my fiance at home.

Belial 08-25-2012 03:13 PM

I know but It's my favorite holiday and if the stores can start stocking Halloween stuff, I can make a thread.
I hope. :)

Do you at least enjoy the seasonal foods? I usually get a lot of pumpkin flavored or apple flavored things.

Kaguya 08-25-2012 03:20 PM

I don't drink coffee, and rarely eat sweets and allergic to pumpkin.

Belial 08-25-2012 03:21 PM

What do you like then? So I won't keep posting things you might not like.

Kaguya 08-25-2012 05:44 PM

Green tea and chocolate marshmallow pizza. lol.

Kloob 08-25-2012 05:47 PM

Unfortunately, I already know I'm working on Halloween. :l

Kaguya 08-25-2012 06:03 PM

That has to suck.

Batty 08-25-2012 06:12 PM

NOT FAIIIR!!! YOU GOT TO THIS TOPIC FIRSTS!

littl3chocobo 08-25-2012 06:20 PM

so stores have been putting out xmas stuff since july XD this is /still/ early

Batty 08-25-2012 06:30 PM

Our stores down here have started putting things out.
I've already stocked up on the basics: Pumpkin Spice candles, burning oils, room spray, SOME decorations [you know, gotta add more to mah room!] and accessories GALORE.

I can't wait till they start putting out the clothing.. -drools-

Trakadon 08-25-2012 06:37 PM

You ever think that the USA cares a little to much about random holidays?

Belial 08-25-2012 06:44 PM

If it truly bothers people then I can just have a Mod delete this thread.
I only intended for a light hearted fun topic about my favorite holiday.I really had no intention of upsetting anyone here.

I hope you all can forgive me and I am truly sorry.

Thats . . all I can say.

Hero 08-25-2012 06:46 PM

Halloween is awesome.
I love any excuse to eat candy.

Seeing all the costumes is pretty awesome too.
It's kind of annoying that Halloween stuff came out so early this year though.

Trakadon 08-25-2012 07:00 PM

The thread is fine. I'm just making a remark about peoples reasoning in the USA.

What I mean is that I would be happier if stores would put up decorations of said holiday in that said holidays month of celebration or at the most maybe a week before the month starts.

I know Christmas is a big deal for a lot of people and they like to buy gifts early and such and that is fine. But if you bought candy months in advance for Halloween they would never last.

Batty 08-25-2012 07:03 PM

Annoying? NOT EVEN!
Last year, they didn't start putting things out until the last minute.
I MISSED OUT ON EVERYTHING.

Trak;; Technically, Halloween is NOT a USA Holiday. Yes, the day has been hallmarked to hell, but originally it belonged to the Celtic Pagans.. Its all about the end of the Harvest, and celebrating the New Year. =/

Hero 08-25-2012 07:10 PM

Really?
Where I live, they always start putting out things a couple months earlier.
I mean hell, it's still summer and then BAM. Halloween stuff.
Christmas stuff was put out CRAZY early last year too.
The day right after Halloween, I saw Christmas lights go up.
What the hell
x_x

Trakadon 08-25-2012 07:12 PM

I am aware of the origins of Halloween. And people would wear costumes to scare off roaming ghosts and then some pope deemed Nov. 1st saints day an blah blah blah. I'm not trying to debate halloween. I just find it strange to put up decorations months in advance XD

And what is wrong with making your own costume?

Tohopekaliga 08-25-2012 07:23 PM

I agree that people put decorations up for holidays way too soon.

Halloween is cool. :) I haven't really done much to celebrate the holiday in a while. Don't know anybody who does parties and what not, and I'm too old for trick-or-treat. Last year it was on a weekend, but the year before, I wore elf ears to work, just because. :P

Dawn 08-25-2012 07:31 PM

It is kind of early to be bringing Halloween up.. and it's not really a holiday that is celebrated over here much anymore.. or at least, not compared to where I use to live at, I kind of missed celebrating it last year.. I had a brand new costume I was forced to leave in America cause I didn't have the space to pack it.

And please correct me if wrong, but isn't the Spanish Day of the Dead also Nov. 1st? I know they celebrate after we celebrate Halloween.

Hero.. the stores here are putting out their Christmas stock now.. <. < It's not even the end of August yet but than, they don't celebrate Thanksgiving, we get Guy Fawkes instead where we get to set things on fire and watch them burn while you all stuff your faces with Turkey. XD

Hero 08-25-2012 07:36 PM

Oh my god.
That's so early ;~;
Did they start playing Christmas music yet?

Haha poor Thanksgiving. I feel like it's always skipped over
Burning things sound like a lot of fun
Take me to wherever you are~

Tohopekaliga 08-25-2012 07:37 PM

El Dia De Los Muertos is All Saints' Day, yeah...so November 1st.

(Why are we talking about Halloween in August? That is kinda odd...Oh well.)

Trakadon 08-25-2012 07:44 PM

No idea but here it is and here we are killing it for all those who are so excited to celebrate it o .o''

Dawn 08-25-2012 07:46 PM

Not yet.. XD but when they do, I'll not be shopping down town for awhile.

There's quite a few holidays not celebrated here.. There's no 4th of July or Memorial Day.. through I could celebrate them if I wanted to, the neighbors know I came from America so they will forgive me.

and yes, there's usually a huge bonfire down at the beach through some people hold smaller fires in their neighborhoods, there was two bonfires like a street away from where I stay. I only know about them cause I found someone had tried to burn a mattress and a desk in the park the next day. XD

Hahaha, I doubt my family would be amused if you appeared on their doorstep. But yea.. I think Guy Fawkes is celebrated all over the UK.. not sure about Ireland..

NikkoGallarado 08-25-2012 07:49 PM

I dress up in something that's normalish since I cosplay all year long, I go out and trick or treat still after that hang out with friends to get some drinks.

I am the manry-est of men!

Trakadon 08-25-2012 07:49 PM

@Chloe~ I wanna move in with you XD

Ah to get away from the crazies and find a bunch of new ones~ Though I might be stoned for not drinking ... XD

Hero 08-25-2012 07:51 PM

Seriously? A mattress? This sounds more and more epic

I promise to behave ;~;

NikkoGallarado 08-25-2012 07:51 PM

NAw most of my friends don't drink so it matters not really. We are pretty much cool with everyone.

I am the manry-est of men!

Dawn 08-25-2012 08:00 PM

ROFL.. you know how many times my American friends tell me that. XD I'm still waiting for the two who said they planned to come over here and visit me to visit.

And I highly doubt that will happen.. There's plenty of people that don't drink here. :3

-nods- I am sure you would, Hero. I don't think we know each other that well.. for anything serious to happen..

And yes.. it's tradition for the kids to go around and ask for people to give stuff they don't mind being burnt.. so things like old mattress, etc usually end up in the pile. XD or it use to be.

Trakadon 08-25-2012 08:05 PM

I don't wanna visit... I wanna live there XD

littl3chocobo 08-25-2012 08:13 PM

money is money XD americans just like to party and american businesses like to make cash

Belial 08-25-2012 08:15 PM

Not all of us like to party or behave like "jersey shore" but I am sure it can seem so from a different country.
I just like pumpkin flavored foods, coffee's witch hat teapots and the like.

littl3chocobo 08-25-2012 08:16 PM

i didn't say make asses of ourselves i said party >>;

Belial 08-25-2012 08:19 PM

Well usually when I see people party, they drink too much and do silly things.

On topic, I saw some cute things at the costume shop for pets. Maybe I should dress up my dog as a hot dog. Then again that might be kind of hokey.

littl3chocobo 08-25-2012 08:21 PM

maybe i am dull then XD we drink eat then go home and sleep (or fork i guess)

it is very hokey but will it make you happy and not hurt the dog?

Trakadon 08-25-2012 08:21 PM

I love pumpkin bread XD

Fey 08-25-2012 08:54 PM

Ugh, I need to start working on my cats halloween costume(yes, I'm one of those people), I'm torn between making him Iron man, which was my original decision back in march...or making him captain america(god I'm a geek). Either way he's gonna be less than thrilled at me I think

Dawn 08-25-2012 09:07 PM

Live? I don't know how you would be able to do that.. you would need a visa and even then.. I do not know how you could come a citizen of Scotland.. unless you married someone with ...

I hope that is not what your meaning.. o . o;

Eh, Fey.. My mom use to dress up our cats for Halloween.. all the kids loved coming up and patting both of them..

Fey 08-25-2012 09:20 PM

my last cat loved it...my current one probably not as much sadly

NeonSynth 08-26-2012 06:03 AM
