Celebrity crushes

So I have this absolutely humongous gigantic crush on Rupert Graves. I have NO IDEA WHY.

...well, it's because he's got the cutest smile in history and looks pretty good naked (or at least did when he was in his 20s in A Room with a View and Maurice). But still. I NEVER get celebrity crushes so this one is a bit weird! I feel the need to rant about it because I just saw him play a drunk loser in an episode of Inspector Lewis and still found myself thinking he was adorable XD

So, anyone else have any random and somewhat embarrassing crushes on famous people they don't even know and never will? Or just want to talk about Rupert Graves' adorable brown eyes? XD (If you have no idea who he is, don't feel bad. He's in my sig. Refresh the page a few times and see him be super cute across four decades, haha. He's most well-known nowadays for playing Lestrade in Sherlock, and he guest-starred in an episode of Doctor Who this season, playing a big-game hunter who somehow managed to be adorable while shooting velociraptors with a stun gun.)

Yokuutsu 10-13-2012 12:12 AM

Tom Hiddleston. That is all.

-slinks away-

Lestrade 10-13-2012 12:15 AM

Oh man, don't be ashamed! He's really cute too, and an amazing actor, and they should invent a special Oscar for Best Angry Crying just so they can give it to him.

Yokuutsu 10-13-2012 12:17 AM

XD

Tom Hiddleston, I really don't know what to say about him. I mean, he's an awesome person in general, how he acts around people, how he apologized on twitter for something that WASN'T HIS FAULT at all. It's just amazing.

Lestrade 10-13-2012 12:21 AM

I read about that! I don't generally actually follow what famous people are like in real life because... I don't necessarily want to know. But I did hear about him apologizing for someone being a jerk while pretending to be him and it wasn't even him, and that's just ridiculously nice, heh.

Yokuutsu 10-13-2012 12:24 AM

I don't really either, but once you add one Tom Hiddleston Fan......you end up adding them all and they talk about it XD

He was getting threats and all this hate due to no Thor 2 pictures. Because of that, I'd want to keep it all a secret because of how the fans treated him.

I think it's because there seems to be this separation where people don't seem to realize that they're people too. They get scared, angry, hurt, etc like the rest of us, you know?

Lestrade 10-13-2012 12:26 AM

Yeah, I swear I'm always reading about someone getting angry at a famous person for making a stupid comment on Twitter. And while that might be annoying, doesn't everyone say something stupid on the internet that they regret once in a while? I'd have to use a pseudonym if I ever managed to get published because I can't even imagine what people would do if they dug up my old whiny blog from college XD

Yokuutsu 10-13-2012 12:28 AM

I mean I could understand if they said something like obviously wrong. You know, like Hitler was right trying to exterminate -insert group here-. You know? (It wasn't just the jews)

That's my point, people don't realize that they're real people too. Famous, rich people possibly, but still people.

Lestrade 10-13-2012 12:32 AM

Yeah, there's stuff that's utterly unacceptable, and then there's just slipping up and being human.

Lestrade 10-13-2012 08:51 PM

...so I have the same sig on Gaia that I do here and for some reason for the past few days people keep commenting about it XD I've told a ton of people to watch Maurice. I feel like some kind of bizarre ambassador.

Twigg 10-14-2012 12:02 AM

Uhh not random/embarrassing. But I find myself loving Rupert Grint.
...

And the actors who play Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural. <3
Urk, so hot. <3

Ritsuka 10-14-2012 12:56 AM

I have a crush on Candice Accola. <33

Lestrade 10-14-2012 01:36 PM

I don't actually know who that is, heh.

Kitaki 10-14-2012 07:34 PM

Emma Stone. Redheads were never my type and then she came along. She is funny, beautiful, and talented. I would love to spend at least one day hanging out with her...it would be so much fun, I just know it!

Lestrade 10-14-2012 09:53 PM

Ahh, Emma Stone is one of those actresses who comes across as being really, really likable somehow when you see her onscreen...

look

look at how cute he is

*dies*

Quiet Man Cometh 10-17-2012 06:18 AM

Had to look up who Rupert Graves was though he did sound familiar. Looks it too. Your sigs make sense now! (Have always been tempted to ask who was in them, and they seemed to change an awful lot). Puttered around on IMDB since your "drunken lunatic" comment on Lewis reminded me of Laurence Fox's 'drunken brat' performance on Marple. And following that I found out Fox was in Deathwatch so now I want to see that again, if I can dig it up somewhere.

I never really had a "crush" on any real person though I did -and still do- think Brad Pitt is cute (not so much the other "sexy" guys like Tom Cruise or George Clooney). It always seemed weird to me, so I tended to gravitate towards fictional characters of the literal and/or animated variety. Not sure how to interpret that...

Okay, I'll say that Chris Hemsworth is cute too. I totally had to look that one up and holy crap did Kenneth Branagh really direct Thor?

Lestrade 10-17-2012 09:40 AM

Yes, yes he did XD

Quiet Man Cometh 10-17-2012 11:24 PM

Wow. I haven't actually seen it but I've never heard of Branagh doing anything that wasn't Shakespeare, except for Wallander which I never really watched. I remember him from Much Ado About Nothing and from Henry V when we watched it in my Shakespeare class back in uni. Off topic but thinking back to it, I kinda wish I took the second course as well, the one on playwrights of the time who aren't Shakespeare. ;)

I thought about this celebrity crush thing after reading this thread last night. When I was in grade school, the current in thing was Johnathan Taylor Thomas (aka "JTT") and most girls in school liked him. Seeing as it seemed to be the thing to do I played along with it and bought the teen magazines and such. Eventually I decided it was silly and he wasn't really my idea of attractive, so I got rid of the JTT stuff. Still under the assumption that a celebrity crush was somehow required for adolescent girls at the time, I looked around for someone suitable and put up magazine clips of Gavin Rossdale instead. ;)

Lestrade 10-25-2012 11:54 AM

Haha, I think I was about 12 when the Jonathan Taylor Thomas fever hit. I remember a friend of mine had a GIANT crush on him (and on Elijah Wood) back then. She bought Tiger Beat magazines and everything XD

Quiet Man Cometh 10-26-2012 03:26 AM

I hardly remember the names of the magazines. Seems we aren't too far off age wise ;). I was hardly up on the entertainment business though. I didn't know who Elijah Wood was until Lord of the Rings, and outside of Home Improvement, I only really knew about JTT from the kids at school, and from The Lion King.

Lestrade 10-27-2012 12:24 PM

Elijah Wood was in some random movies back then... Huck Finn comes to mind, and North, which was awful but still had him in it XD He sort of fell off the radar for a while after his child-star status for a while and then resurfaced as Frodo Baggins looking exactly the same age he had as a teenager XD

Daigotsu 10-27-2012 12:37 PM

Oh. Oh Gods.

Ian Sommerhalder. So hard. More like Ian Smolderholder.

And Eliza Dushku. I have had a lesbian crush on her since I was a freshman in highschool. 10 years.

Lestrade 10-28-2012 08:52 PM

I had to look up Ian Sommerhalder. He's good-looking but a bit too pretty-perfect for my taste.

Holly 11-11-2012 08:52 PM

I'm not crazy over any celebrities.
Not in the OMG I THINK THEY'RE SO HOT sort of way, anyway.

I find Johnny Depp to be very attractive though.

I admire some musicians.
But they're all female.
I wish I could be like them or be their friend. ++
Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, and Amy Winehouse (I know it's no longer possible to meet her, unfortunately.)

Quiet Man Cometh 11-12-2012 01:29 AM

I'm the other way around. The musicians I like are mostly male. I think that's because I prefer the deeper voice though. The female musicians I like tend to be on the deeper voiced side.

Amoena 11-12-2012 02:26 AM

v.v he's not much of a celebrity to the entire world but to me.. the goth kid in my creative writing class i have a HUGE crush on! v.v;;

on a possibly more acceptable note.. I really have a thing for Jim Parsons !

ChibiAngelLily 11-12-2012 11:26 PM

Tom Hiddleston or Daniel Radcliffe.

Holly 11-13-2012 06:59 PM

I like deeper voices as well.
Amy Winehouse and Lana Del Rey generally have a lower sound.
Though they can sing at a higher pitch as well.
They have a wonderfully wide range. <3

Ellie Goulding is the exception for me.
She has a very high pitch most of the time.
But I love her music, regardless.

I like Adele too.
She also has a deeper voice. ++

Though maybe they're not as deep as you'd prefer?
I don't know why I prefer female voices.
I just do.

Though I gotta say I love everything about Coldplay.
I like British artists!!
(Though LDR isn't British... she's more popular there.)

Tears 11-14-2012 04:06 AM

I have a fangirl crush on David Tennant. It's because my friend showed me all her favorite Doctor Who episodes with Tennant starring in them. p:

Epic Rave Monster 11-25-2012 07:11 AM

Kane from WWE.

I just love demented guys. I know he's gone soft now.. but there's still that dark side of him, and it excites me.

Belial 11-25-2012 01:00 PM

I don't really have crushes on people, famous or otherwise.
I do admire and respect certain people, but that isn't quite the same thing.

Same with me as well

Daigotsu 11-25-2012 01:26 PM

I'm starting to get a crush on Matt Smith from Dr. Who. I'm... very torn on the matter though. XD

Xurxo 12-09-2012 11:23 AM

I personally admire a lot of different actors/celebrities...

Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender to name a few. Amanda Tapping... John Barrowman, too, for example.

Lestrade 12-09-2012 02:29 PM

I don't really get why people think John Barrowman is hot XD

I mean obviously it's a matter of preference but people always talk like he's some kind of sex god, and I'm just not feeling it at all, lol.

Kaunisenkeli 12-10-2012 01:04 AM

Kari Byron is pretty much the only celebrity crush I have.

Xurxo 12-12-2012 03:32 PM

I can tell you why I find him attractive, hard to say why others do, though. But I'm really just drawn into his personality and acting. I have an appreciation for his talent. I also really like the dark hair, blue eyes look on people.

Lanfear 03-05-2013 03:32 AM

I can't say I've ever had a crush on a celebrity, but there are a few that I find attractive.

I'm more into musicians and artists than actors. <3

toxxic 03-05-2013 03:41 AM

I'm like obsessed with Gaspard Ulliel. I wish he was in more movies, especially english speaking ones so I don't have to read subtitles. As it stands I've only seen two he's been in.
