Remembrance Day
 

Or Veteran's Day if I have that right.

I never do much for this day, but it's the only holiday on the calender that I observe aside from the major ones. It's late, I know, but I got up late, such happens.

My family is not military at all, but I did have a great Uncle that fought in World War II. My own grandfather had bad eyes and trained people in carpentry instead. I don't like war or conflict at all, but I believe in paying respects to those who do decide to fight because sometimes it's the only option that's available.

Don't really have anything profound to say, but I think it's nice to take time to think about these things, today at least if not other times.

My family's not military either. But I definitely do observe Remembrance Day. So grateful for those who've sacrificed their lives just so that our country can be a safe and free one. :3

My great uncle survived the war but died later of a bad heart, likely from the stress of shell shock. (post traumatic stress disorder now) He had it rather badly. He worked for my grandfather in construction after the war. If anyone dropped a tool or if there was any sort of loud sound he would dive for the ground, didn't matter where he was. He could be two stories up on a house frame and he would still do it. He would apologize after because he knew it wasn't necessary but the instinct never left him.
