TokyoPop Returning

So after a long time of being shut down it seems Tokyopop is making a small comeback! Their website is relaunched and they are slowly getting things to put out there.

http://tokyopop.com/an-example-of-company-news-article/

Now I hope they pick up some of the manga they had dropped when they closed down. Mainly "Monochrome Factor" and I hope they get the Licenses to "Drug & Drop" which is the continuation of "Legal Drug" which Tokyopop had done.

They are small but I'm sure they can get back to their former glory

What manga do you hope they get a hold of?
Are you happy their back?
How long do you think they'll survive?

DISCUSS TOKYOPOP HERE! x3

HOLY SHIT THAT SOUNDS AWESOME. I hope they can actually finish "Bizenghast" it's on its final volume XD

Demonskid 04-04-2013 06:49 PM

from their site, they are working on it again, it looks as tho there is a Print and e-book

:3

I want them to continue Monochrome Factor sooo bad D;

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 07:00 PM

They had it out, almost a year ago and I have no clue of it DX...how did they publish it if the distribution closed?

Demonskid 04-04-2013 07:13 PM

xD no clue, i dunno how long they've been back.

looks like they're picking up Hetalia again too

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 07:23 PM

well hetalia is too popular to be left. it's like their main income

Demonskid 04-04-2013 07:42 PM

I asked their twitter if they were gonna pick up Monochrome Factor haha xD should ask about Drug & Drop

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 07:44 PM

now I wonder if they are selling their mangas at book stores or are they strictly online

Demonskid 04-04-2013 07:48 PM

For now probably just online through RightStuf

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 07:56 PM

but later on I mean...or is it going to be like Circuit City (went out of business but still in business online)

Demonskid 04-04-2013 08:28 PM

I don't know. I think once they get some what bigger again the ones that are Print on Demand or what ever will get shipped to stores. but since a good deal of the demand is for the e-readers it'll probably be just an internet thing now >x<

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 08:30 PM

damn it XP...I have the books and the mangas I have/reading don't exist in my manga app

Rem 04-04-2013 08:38 PM

Are they keeping their price point at 9.99? That's what I loved most about them, thier books had a flat rate all across the board...not like Dark Horse, where shit's expensive yo

God I'm glad to hear that, I LOVED TokyoPop they were my favorite company, mainly because they gave artists and writers in America a chance to publish their works through the company

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 08:56 PM

The older mangas are $9.99 and the newer ones spiked their prices to $15.99 (which is more than dark horses). which I'm like..."yea, amazon is better"

littl3chocobo 04-04-2013 09:09 PM

they could not get a renewal on the license for legal drug even before they shut down so i am not holding my breath for that one but since half of all my manga is tokyopop i am glad they are trying to come back XD

Echo-chan713 04-04-2013 09:19 PM

the majority of my manga is tokyopop which I've had them since high school in which that was about 6 years ago
