My mothers laptop has had a sound problem for a while
The sound is choppy and makes things like videos lag. Her laptop is windows 7 any solutions? Although my friend is going to format it tomorrow, but if the sound is not back after that anyone know what I could do?
I hope you have a complete backup before you format it. What kind of computer are you using?
Seconding what Espy said to have a complete backup before you format it.
On the note of what might be wrong....could be a few different things. My best guess would be that there is some sort of virus/malware on the computer or that the issue lies in the processor/RAM. (not an expert, just have tinkered a bit) When you say that the sound is "choppy" and it makes the videos lag, do you mean that the video skips or is slow, or that the sound and video don't sync up? |
The video will stop completely and other things will also lag as well. It even takes a while to get the Task manger started.
Oooookay. I don't think that's a problem stemming from sound. Seems it could possibly be a problem with the video card.
With that in mind then, it is more likely something dealing with the processor being old, the RAM being insufficient, video card, too much dust in the computer causing overheating....there's quite a few things it could be.
The reformatting fixed the sound problem. But there is still a hard disk problem.
What do you mean by "hard disk problem"?
The hard disk is failing, so it will need to be replaced or my mother will need to get a new laptop.
