Need help with tv

Okay, so I have a lg 42LK450 lcd tv

It has a usb port so I was going to use it to play videos...started playing it and the audio and video are fine, just no subtitles and they are turned on...on the tv, so what can I do to fix that? (If anything)

They do show up when I turn them on when I play them on my computer (but I'm on my brother's and...just ugh)

You could use something like Handbrake to convert the video file to have the subtitles baked into the video instead of being overlaid by your TV.

Beyond that sort of a conversion, it seems likely to me that your TV just doesn't support the function for video files through USB instead of from television signals.

It does support them...it specifically asks (the tv) about whether the files are video or photos so it knows what to do with them...the video itself does play, with audio. -is confused-

I meant it doesn't support the subtitle function for those videos.

And now it says a wmv file is invalid -.-

That doesn't really surprise me. I wouldn't expect a lot of devices to play Windows Media files.

But it and mp4 is fairly common and it'll read mp4

It reads some stuff that out of media players I've had, only VLC can read .-.

It means I can't watch repo on my tv T-T

MP4 is the only common one that's actually an industry standard. The other formats are all proprietary to some company or another.
