Prepairing for a Thanksgiving Feast

So it's the week of Thanksgiving and I wanted to have a reason to use pumpkin furball

I'm looking forward to it this year because I had I had to miss it last year, since I was sick.
-Grandparents sent Thanksgiving dinner home with my parents for me and the cat put her paw in it before I got any...:f-kittysmile::f-sweat:

(So I wondered what people really like to have for big meals like Thanksgiving.)

I used to be very picky and only eat the pumpkin pie, plain potatoes, and turkey, since then tried other stuff, I totally missed out as a kid not trying other things, like stuffing and gravy

I more likely won't participate in the after Thanksgiving holiday sales this year either.
Even though we haven't really had presents in recent years I'm still looking forward to seeing family for Christmas.
:f-santa:

My parents make thanksgiving dinner, and only a few people go. Much nicer than giant affairs I've been to in the past.

We usually have some turkey and some ham...and I actually like the ham better. Yum, yum.

Thanksgiving is already done here, but my favourite thing is usually the cream cheese/sour cream mashed potatoes with Parmesan cheese baked on top. They make an appearance at Christmas, too. Dressing is good too, though my dad tends to fiddle with it each year so it's somewhat unpredictable.

It is my favorite holiday because I get to cook my tail feathers off.

I like to bake a turkey, make pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes, super amazing gravy, apple whip cream salad, regular salad, and rolls. My grandma likes to add in yams.

As a vegetarian, I get a lot of people telling me that I probably hate Thanksgiving. Not so! I love mashed potatoes and cheese, I love rolls with homemade honey butter, I love the various vegetable casseroles because they are usually loaded with cheese. And I love cheese balls and fancy crackers. I love cheese. And I LOVE PIE SO MUCH. (Except pumpkin pie. But pumpkin cheesecake is good. Why is pie the only terrible pumpkin-flavored dessert?!)

There are certainly lots of wonderful non-meat things in thanksgiving.

And cranberries everywhere. Yum, cranberries. :D

Lucid: 11-24-2015 09:37 PM

There definitely are! Plus it helps that I still eat eggs/dairy, so I can have all the fattening sweets. :3

And yesss, why are cranberries so delicious? D: I hated them as a kid (probably because of Crasins) but now they're so awesome.

I always loved cranberry sauce during thanksgiving. So wonderous.

Crispers has these excellent sandwiches with cranberries, turkey, and apples, and oh my god. The best.

Me too! My extended family sucks at making turkey, so a couple of years ago they made the unanimous decision to only serve ham (since that's what everyone eats anyway).

Other than the dinner...don't really know. Grandparents/family have sort of stopped wanting to get together for the most part.
In the past there has been a mix of Scallops, Turkey, Pumpkin Pie (what do you do with old Halloween Pumpkins?), etc.

My plan is to study this break for finals.

Night Fury 11-25-2015 07:28 PM

My family still has some pumpkins, it takes forever to make pumpkin pies. I made some last year, they turned out really good.:f-pumpkin:

I should take some time to study as well. I haven't got to studies but i had some art projects I needed to get done for an independent study class so I've taken time to work on those. :f-smile3:
Thanksgiving for one side of the family tends to be similar to Christmas, however, this year it maybe different since they are going to have Christmas at my parents house instead of grandparents.
I'm not sure what to expect since I'm used to my mom being lazy and not cooking or her having one of my sisters cook.:f-dizzy:
Though, if my father cooks it the food should be really good. :f-please:

Aw man. My Thanksgiving meal is going to be Spaghetti O's and probably a shot of vodka before I have to walk in to work for a 12 hour shift on freaking Thanksgiving. Hate this time of year. Anyway, back when I could taste I would pretty much hijack the whole bowl of cream corn. I loved cream corn. Still kind of do. And rolls. oh, the rolls. Everything else was meh. Granted I didn't like being around my family, 95% of them were very redneck, so it was hard to sit and eat and socialize about things I didn't care about (Oh boy, you killed a deer, it had a lot of points, ah-mah-zing. You slathered animal piss all over you and sat in a box for hours in the cold, you know how to pick a good tiiiime). Being an adult, I no longer have to go, so I can have whatever! Pasta, reheated pizza, cake, bitter regret, someone else's cooking, dressing, tacos...

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! :D

Except for you, Salone. You get hopping on your duty to give the good people fabulous pre-black-friday deals. D:< Just kidding I hope that your day is less unbearable than you expect it to be. <3

Salone 11-26-2015 11:33 AM

I'll hate it until I get there. I get a thrill from working the crowd. I enjoy pushing their buttons and getting them excited. I'm a showman, and it's days like this where I get to prove that instead of being swept away by a torrent of people I can direct and control it. I hate people but love a crowd.

Pinkie 11-26-2015 11:36 AM

Times like this make me happy that im Canadian....when thanksgiving is over we have like another 2 months give or take some days before Christmas so enough time to tolerate family again lol Plus then I dont get sick of so much turkey lmao
